Bluecamel Indian Restaurant in South Somerset

Went with a large party - prebooked- around 12 of us. All ate off the set menu (starter, main with rice or naan). We sat down at half 7 and didn't get dinner until just after 10pm. This was after multiple reminders to the waiting staff, who always replied with "2 minutes." I understand this is a tactic to push up the drinks bill, but when we are sitting there for 2 hours, just waiting - very poor service! Once the food did arrive, it was very average, and mine was only lukewarm! Parking is a bit of a nightmare, too - I ended up blocked in as everyone just abandoned their cars outside! We were asked by the staff multiple times if we owned different cars outside, so I don't think this was only a problem for our party.

A very modern feeling Indian. The menu has far more choice than most and there were quite a few interesting curve balls. I had the lamb which was delicious, albeit maybe a couple more chunks of lamb would have made it perfect. Naan bread was superb, light and fluffy, delicately flavoured. We were in a large group but service was fast and polite. Toilets were utterly spotless and wheelchair accessible. Would definitely use again if only to try more items off the menu. Recommended.

In a random location, but having been outside of the UK for a year it was great to enjoy a good old fashioned Indian food. Really enjoyed all of the dishes brought out, left absolutely stuffed. Not a cheap night out, but worth it. Service was good, as most Indian restaurants are the servers are very attentive. A comprehensive menu. All good everyone in our party of four enjoyed the meal.

Fantastic food, great service, “bangin’ garlic naan’s” and reasonably priced too. Recommended

Had a great takeaway from here tonight. The best chicken tikka masala I have ever had.

This was a fantastic dining experience. The dishes were all so subtly herbed and spiced and full of flavour, the meats succulent and perfectly cooked. And the tamarind chutney was fab!

Came here for a family get together. There were 9 of us. Very attentive staff. We had the Sunday Buffet option. Good value. Lovely food if a little hot for some tastes. Would visit again.

Best butter chicken curry we have ever had in our lives!!!! Highly recommended!!!! Just was a bit of a long wait, we were told pick up in 30-40 minutes and then when we arrived after 30 minutes had to wait in the car for a further 30 minutes

Order a few weeks ago, they didn't have what we ordered, ordered again last night,arrive there, they don't have they don't have the order at all/ forgotten about it. How hard can it be. Poor at best

Good food but finally have given up on this place due their total inability to provide food on time. Website offers a lead time of 15 minutes however I always allow 30 minutes and even then they can be up to a further 30 minutes late. So frustrating and compounded by their seeming like they don't understand why this is frustrating. Have tried and tried again with this place but have finally given up and gone elsewhere which is a shame. Cannot do time keeping even when quiet

Found this place by chance a few weeks ago as I was in Somerset for the weekend as we planned a trip at Wookey hole and Longleat safari. Food was astonishingly good , almost like a brick lane curry. The mix grille unfortunately was not up to scratch and let the experience down a bit but the mains were amazing

Great menu, we picked dishes we’d never tried before and they were delicious. Really nice atmosphere there and we felt very looked after.

The most delicious food -I nearly fell over with excitement when I tried the Railway Lamb with exceptional Vibrant pilau and delicious sauces/chutneys. This is the first time and if I could I’d eat there every week! I can’t wait to try more dishes! 💯 go go go if you haven’t! Soooo fresh, incredible spices and colours, best curry. By 7pm on Monday evening, the place was full!!!

Food is a bit overpriced and to be honest I've had better from Morrisons. 35 minutes between courses ! Unacceptable. Having said that it is very pleasant & clean, but we won't be returning.

Have supported this usually great Indian since it opened. It's expensive and has always been better than most Indian restaurants and so a higher price is warranted. The last two times though we have felt that it's turning into your run of the mill average Indian restaurant and the last time we had food from there it was poor. Overly sweet, bland and greasy but still very expensive. Shall not return I'm afraid as for average Indian cuisine, there are tons of takeaways around at about 60% of the price.

Stopped off at Blue Camel for dinner en route from London to Devon. Our first visit and really impressed with the ambience of the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff and the superb quality of the food. Well done to all the team, keep up the amazing work. Highly recommended, we will definitely visit again.

We had an amazing meal last night. We have been looking for a good Indian restaurant and Blue Camel certainly impressed. Good decor, friendly staff and great service. We will definitely be returning soon.

The food was very nice and the staff are very friendly but at £20.90 for a Lamb Curry, Keema rice and a Keema Naan for a takeaway collection, I think the price is very expensive. Update: Orders made from their website will provide a 20% discount if collected.

I have just had lunch at the blue camel. I think the young man there Today needs to go on a course. He spent 5 mins very louldly shouting S**t down the phone at somebody. Not something I want to hear while I'm out for lunch. Then had a loud conversation with a women and man. Which was very racist! Apart from that the food was very nice.

A place to go back!!! Lovely Indian food. Nicely decorated & very attentive and happy staff. You can eat at the back too. Plenty of parking. Easy access from both directions A303. Lots to choose from delicious Indian food.

Considering the lack of effort since taking over the old restaurant it’s so pretentious! The waiter was attentive to the point of obsession and stank of cigarettes , might use the takeaway once there’s a menu but not the restaurant. Food was fine

Fantastic Indian, we have eaten here 5-6 times already since it has opened and referred countless people who have all said the same thing Food is really tasty and by far the best Indian we have had for a long time. There is plenty to choose from, even for a vegetarian. Staff are really friendly and the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Would highly recommend
