This was my first time having a Sunday roast, so I had nothing to compare it to but after posting the photos of my food 500 British people told me that by the looks of it it was the worst Roast they've ever seen. The lamb was dry and in some parts indistinguishable from the bone. The Yorkshire pudding was mistaken and spongey. It took forever to saw through the roasted potatoes. I've been encouraged to try another roast and not judge them all by my first forray. Other food might be better but this is all I had, as the roasts are advertised outside EDIT: you shouldn't review a food place based on a photo alone nor without finishing your plate my original questions after having the meal were: I bit the bullet and had my 1st Sunday roast in England, I didn't ask for any substitutions as recommended 1. I don't know what Yorkshire pudding is supposed to be, it has the consistency of what I think a clogged artery would be like if eaten. Spongey mishapen and dense 2. Is it not supposed to have a flavor? Like anything in the roast? (Serious question) 3. Is there a time of day where roasts are supposed to be fresh or is the food supposed to have a crust to it? 4. Mint jelly is a vibe

Wonderful little French cafe / restaurant. Bring your own wine . Had Boeuf Bourginon and my pal had fush. Lovely food and perfect service from friendly host.

This is a lovely, reliable, local restaurant. They serve french style food. You can bring your own wine (£3 corkage) which is a big advantage. You need to book, particularly at weekends. Staff are efficient and friendly.

I'm writing this review even though the listing is incorrect. Mon Café isn't a hotel it's a restaurant with a great menu, service and it's byo which is great with Tesco opposite.

We had breakfast on Christmas Day 2023. It was a pleasant experience with good food. The place is quiet and their service was perfect. Egg Benedict - Excellent Omelette - Excellent Sandwich- Good Good value and full marks for their service!

Such a lovely local restaurant, never disappoints

I went for lunch here, found it by a quick google search: best fish and chips near me. Large portions which were freshly cooked and up to standard.. jacket potato looked abit black/brown inside and was hard.. still edible. Fish and chips were a delight to eat and we had it taken away. Service was incredible with one lady managing it by herself but she was very attentive. Would recommend as they have a very extensive menu which has something for everyone. Would visit again lovely spot x

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner last night. All dishes were delicious, cooked perfectly with attention to the smallest detail and well presented. We are disappointed that it was our last night in Brighton, otherwise we would have returned the following evening. We found so many desirable meals on the menu. Thankyou.

I enjoyed the byo! The waiter was miserable, didn't smile or converse with us. The carbonara was made with Penne pasta, and this was dry & tasteless. The steak was nice according to my wife, but was cut far to thin to cook anything but well done! She wanted mid' rare!

First time, having passed it so many times and promised to try it! Glad we persevered as thougherly enjoyed it, with provincial French cooking. Great quality and quantity. Interesting it is a bring-your own wine, and we even bought our own appperatives! Highly recommended. Calamari starter, Brrton Poulet, cassolet de canard, cheese, washed down with out own Beaujolais.

Yes we went in, from the outside looks rather plane and quite , actually just the way we like it no crowds. Food excellent , we had the Lamb Shank twice , and the Beef Bourguignon twice !! Yes we went twice. Tips. BYO and theres a "Off Licence" next door , result. Also they don't charge for corkage, another result. Also NO , yes NO service charge , so tip well folks and enjoy this little Hove "Little Gem"

First time. Had the Chicken Tajine for my evening meal. Food the meal to be wonderful. Decent portion and tasty, simple hearty meal. Will be returning tomorrow again for the Lamb Tajine.

A friends birthday lunch was made special with the care and attention received. Delicious variety of meals, all served at the same time to our group of 12 people, very much enjoyed by all.

The ambiance was absolutely delightful, complemented by delectable cuisine at affordable prices. We decided to indulge in the Sunday roast, which turned out to be incredibly satisfying. We were treated to a complimentary side of a scrumptious pudding. The service provided was exceptional, adding to the overall pleasant experience.

I recently had a nice experience here, the staff are friendly. I got a full english breakfast with all the trimmings. The cafe is very clean and welcoming. I would recommend the mon cafe.

Can get noisy but food and service excellent.

I popped in for breakfast after running the Brighton 10k, and the staff were extremely accommodating and opened the amazing little back garden area for me and my dogs. The coffee and food were fantastic, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. I will definitely visit again when I'm next in Brighton.

What a little gem of a cafe/restaurant in Hove. Sunday roast dinner still available at 5.30pm. Staff are welcoming, service is great and it's a BYO for corkage so the bill was very reasonable. Will definitely be returning. Booking advised as its very small.

Excellent food and really good service. Always polite and helpful staff. We are visiting this place really often and tried most of the menu dishes, everything is always cooked to perfection and really tasty. Would highly recommend their Sunday Roast and Sea Bass.

Had a Sunday roast here yesterday, staff was beyond rude took 40 minutes to take our orders, the roast diners god shocking the veggie option was a vegetarian burger with gravy never seen anything like it. Potatoes and veg was frozen and was still hard and the cauliflower cheese was like slop. I would not recommend this place

A really lovely place, with a relaxing peaceful atmosphere. Staff are polite and welcoming. Ordered a full English. Food was cooked to perfection. Was really amazed by the flavour in every different item on the plate. Credit to the kitchen staff. Will be definitely popping in again when this way and try other dishes on the menu. I would recommend to anyone to go in a try the food.

I ordered the Beef Bourgiugnon for £19. Food Luke warm, even though we were less than a mile away. 1 carrot, split in two, one parsnip, again split in two. Two roast potatoes and really dry Beef Bourgiugnon. Really poor, never again!!! Don’t like review, then sort it out.

This was fabulous, too lazy to cook for myself so I ordered this and I was not disappointed, plenty of meat, vegetables and potatoes, excellent meal, thank you very much

The cozy cafe/bistro has outdoor and indoor seating. It is suitable for party. Guests can start pre drinks at the patio. Thou it was rainy and windy that evening when I was there, the outside area was well covered. There were heaters all over the roof. You won’t feel cold even in the winter. After that, you may move into the indoor seating for your meal. I think you can hire the place exclusively or part of it. Just down to the communication with the restaurant. The food was yummy and quite good portion too. I tried the lamb shank and the crème buble. They were very yummy. The gravy in the lamb was just perfectly balanced. You can bring your own bottle and it was only 3 gbp each bootle for corkage. We had a very fun night there. This restaurant is an important part of the community. It was cozy and homie. Food was yummy, and the price was very reasonable 30 per head. Even better if they have some serving staff on a night like this! Come and support the local business!

Good food, nicely presented and very good value for money. Very good gluten free options. Dog friendly. We ate out for two with soft drinks for £50. What's not to love?!

We had a party of 12 including an 18 month old baby, food was great as usual with service to match, by the end of the evening we had the place to ourselves and our server even took baby into the garden so parents could finish their meals without interruption! Easy to become a regular here, we will back…

The two of us stopped here for lunch and opted for the Sunday Roast - roast beef and vegetarian options. Was so delicious and included all the trimmings including homemade Yorkshire puddings. Both plates cleaned and bellies full. Recommended!

Delicious eggs benny with slight garlic added to the toasted muffin. Sauce was creamy and perfect flavour. Lots of spinach and a filling meal. Partner loved Full English, too.

Food was decent, large portions, which was good. Relatively small menu, which is also a good sign. Would come back. Very laid back service and bring your own bottle means not too expensive...

Stars should be from 1 to 6, not 1 to 5 , as I can't put 5 for everything here, as I've put 5 for some very high end places. This isn't high end, but is really great for people wanting to bring own drink, has great food, is quiet and chilled, an outdoor covered area for smokers, and doggies! Owner, manager, always on hand to male your visit as good as he can. U pay 3.50 per bottle you bring, " corkage fee " males scence for those needing to keep booze prices down... really nice menu, food really good Visit here. X

The variety of the breakfast menu is very big and there are enough options for vegetarian and vegan people. I can recommend!

Best English Breakfast in Hove & Brighton. Tasty full English breakfast in a nice new environment. They do lunch an d an evening meal too. The best menu in Brighton and Hove to suit everyone at a reasonable price. Bring your own booze, the off licence is just next door with a great selection of chilled beer and wines. This is the place to go !!!

Always be grateful for Xavier getting us a table when we have not booked. The food is superb always with such a wonderful variety of foods always on the menu . The roast dinners are wonderful on Sunday's. Would highly recommend you to try it out. As they don't sell alcohol you bring your own or just have soft drinks . The menu and food is a credit to the chef and staff. Thank you a d look forward to another visit soon.

I had lunch at the Mon Cafe Bistro. I ordered the Seabass. It was absolutely tasty. It was such a sweet sensation to the palate. When I was told that it was the KP (Hayat) promoted to chef that cooked such a dish - I was rather impressed. The presentation was also excellent. Of relevance, the ladies (Aoife and Catherine) who served me apart from being beautiful were very personable. I would definitely recommend. Thanks 👭. Keep it up. Xx

Went for the first time with my wife. She opted for the veggie breakfast and I had the eggs benedict with added sausage and black pudding. We both thought it was excellent. My poached eggs were perfect - runny and hot. The sausage and black pudding were of better quality than most cafes. I also had cheesecake and ice cream which was delicious. Nice relaxed atmosphere and great service from a very pleasant lady. I will definitely be back.

Mon Cafe serves very authentic French and English dishes. I had the eggs Benedict, and the hollandaise sauce was absolutely brilliant. The ham tasted like it was hand carved with its texture. The coffee had the fresh ground roasted flavour. Also a nice surprise was their fresh squeezed orange juice. They did not miss a single beat at this fine establishment. Definitely worth a visit when you are in beautiful Brighton. I may even come back for the Boeuf Bourgouignon later!!! Also the Airbnb was so nice and clean. The host Xavier was even gracious enough to give me a complimentary coffee on the house!!! The Airbnb is conveniently adjacent to Mon Cafe, both definitely worth a visit!!!

Pleasantly surprised! Not somewhere I would have considered for Sunday lunch but some friends booked it based on a recommendation. The food was really good, everyone had a different dish and all 8 enjoyed! Can't get any better than that.

There were no complaints from any of our party.... all the food was really good. It's a pity they don't have a licence for alcohol but there is a bottle store next door. I felt charging us £3 corkage was a bit much when they don't send alcohol!?!

Absolutely phenomenal service and scrumptious English Breakfast, soooooooooo tasty, simply divine. The best in England I reckon!! I was also with my family who adored their dishes. I also love the style, really beautiful and exotic, north African, the bathroom was really chic and clean too. I will definitely be back there, I rate this place 5 STAR'S 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thank you for your Sunday lunch we had. It was nice. However, the restaurant was cold, you could turn the heating up to make it feel more comfortable. Now the food. It was tasty, no doubt, but it was certainly not value for money. The portions were very small, I mean 1 tiny floret of broccoli each. ! small partly roasted potato, a quarter of a carrot and a quarter of a parsnip and not very big quarters at that! The table asked for more potatoes and we were given more, 2 more in fact (cut in to half) and we were charged £3.50. That equates to £1.75 per small potato or £10.50 for the 6 potatoes we had at the table. Come on. We were told about how good this was and we were allowed to bring our own wine, but when it said BYO I didn't think it also mean Bring Your Own Food! I may be the economics of running an eatery nowadays, or just that people in Brighton are used to paying a lot for very little though this does seem the case with the people I have seen in this town. Sorry, but won't be coming back, ether to this restaurant or this town. Shame really.

The cooking here was outstanding and well worth travelling for. The menu was straightforward and I had much to choose from. I had calamari in batter, followed by poulet breton. It's easy to make calamari rubbery, but this was perfection, with a subtle dressing for the salad. The sauce with the chicken was a triumph, the accommanying vegetables, interesting and diverse. Bravo, chef!

Very good service, nice coffee and tasty food

Had veggie burger and chips. Burger was over done - bit dry and crunchy like it had been kept warm/reheated instead of cooked fresh. Chips taste of fish - I guess same fryer as the fish - not good for veggie

While it seems to attract customers for Sunday luches and evening meals, it proved itself a great option for brunch with an all day breakfast menu. This place opened in a renovated former pub. There is an outdoor seating area at the back, and in/outdoor breakfast bar, as well as smart inside seating. It may seem dark fro the outside, but inside feels airy. A full English breakfast was tasty and reasonably priced. It contained a big sausage, x2 bacon, x2 fried eggs (or scrambled), x2 toast, mushrooms, beans, a hash brown, and tomato. The fruit juices are freshly squeezed. The coffee was also good and competitively priced. Overall, a great brunch option that is more reasonably priced than some competitors nearby. For now, this place may be a well kept secret for Hove. I look forward to going back to try dinner or Sunday lunch.

I fell in love with the place immediately I walked in. The ambience is divine. The food was perfect. A lovely grandparents were celebrating their grandson's birthday it was fun to see and join in their joy. That's what life is about isn't it?

Ordered online, the “full English” had no description so didn’t order any extras. Very disappointed with what came, tiny portion with no black pudding, no avocado and ONE hash brown. Tasted okay but for 12 quid expected a lot more.

Nice restaurant, menu for all day including breakfast. Went with a group and had a minute steak and chips. Steak fine, fish dishes looked more interesting. Take your own wine and beer. Corkage wine £3.
