Overly expensive (£8 for a pint of Staropramen) and the staff were rather indifferent despite me being polite as I always am.... won't be going back....

Not for me thanks. How can I explain, it's an Irish themed pub but not what I would consider to be an Irish pub. Too clichéd and no character. It is a hen / stag night pub. Only stayed for one drink.

Absolutely love this place! Fantastic place to go any day of the week. Amazing bar and door staff who are always happy to help in any way they can! Fantastic live music 7 nights a week! Be sure to check this place out when in Brighton, you won’t be disappointed!

Rude clueless door staff, I was told my citizen card isn’t proof of my age even though it’s a legal form of ID.

Absolutely disgusted with this place, one of the security guards on door - big man, blonde top knot. Racist, wouldn’t let my friend of colour in but proceeded to let many drunk white people in. Informed police who happened to be across the road and they said they were aware of his racism but couldn’t do anything. Can’t believe he hasn’t been fired yet. Do not go

A typical Irish/British pub. We visited several times. We got to watch football and hear live music. Good opening hours and good quality of the live music. Good atmosphere throughout the evening.

Disgusted .. racist doormen not letting a member of our party in (he was the most sober of us all) I was absolutely paralytic and they accepted my entry several times as a white female and our other white friend .. also drunk .. got let in .. I explained to the doormen that our friend was autistic and he replied “I am not a doctor” .. extremely disappointed as our friend then believed he ruined the night due to his skin colour . NO ONE SHOULD FEEL LIKE THIS .. will not be returning xxxxxxx

Really weird experience trying to go in, as I don't drink (haven't had a sip of alcohol in 2 years) and never did anything else. Still was told I couldn't go in whilst all my friends did, the bouncer didn't say why or for what reason, but I felt very discriminated against. I understand they are under pressure to stop any drunk people but I doubt that he thought I was drunk as I was the older one and driving all my friends home later. Sad to see this racism and discrimination against immigrants in a place like Brighton.

Visited yesterday after the football, sober due to driving but wanted somewhere to watch the later kick off before heading home. They wouldn’t serve me a Diet Coke because I didn’t have ID on me. Although they admitted they could tell I was over 18 (I’m 25 with a full beard) they still wouldn’t serve me a soft drink. They also didn’t serve food, pub smelt and atmosphere was cold.

Bar staff spoil this place. zero customer service

Bouncers were aggresive, managers were also aggresive, ignored normal ID laws. Complete disregard to normal adult comunication when questioned, and continued to gaslight me for no real reason and no real explaination. Should of avoided when some yound kiddie got stabbed, how its still around no oneone know....

They didn’t let me in because I couldn’t speak English like a native under the pretense that I was drunk, even though I wasn’t drunk at all. The only reason they didn’t let me in was because they were racist. Just two days ago, Brighton had a massive and well-organized protest against racists, and the attitude of this bar towards non-British people is a valid reason for no one to go there.

Great fun, live music on the Friday was great. Felt safe, friendly door and security staff. Quick bar staff and good variety of drinks available.

Refuse entry because my age was 28, bouncer told me if I was 29 it would be ok. Pub empty was coming back from the races. Do not recommend

Was told we needed to go elsewhere for 20mins before coming in because we'd been to On The Beach... Went to the pub just down the road with zero issues.

Prior to it's shut down it was a great place. However, they've now ruined it. They've moved the great feature bar in the middle to the side, which has lost it's soul. And to really take the mick, they charge... wait for it... £8 a pint of Guinness. Absolutely disgusting for a pub masquerading as an Irish themed pub!

Okay enough pub but it was quiet so not able to say much about the atmosphere. Decent selection of beers and lagers, prices quite high but probably typical of the location. Had a singer on Tuesday night, was apparently open until 4am so probably gets busier late on. Big place, friendly staff based on my experience. Toilets were clean, but it was empty when I visited so you’d expect good cleanliness.

We went early in the evening, it was very quiet, the band were very good. There was a disturbance outside which the bouncers dealt with professionally.

I had an appalling experience at Molly Malones, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn others about the unacceptable treatment I received from the venue's staff. What started as a promising night out with friends ended in a shocking display of unfairness and disrespect. We were having a great time until the staff decided to kick me out, claiming I was too drunk. While I was admittedly drunk, I did not cause any commotion, disrespect, or harassment of any kind. I peacefully agreed to leave and complied fully. Despite this, I was escorted outside into the freezing cold at -2 degrees without being allowed to take my coat. My friends had to bring my coat out to me, which is inexcusable. To make matters worse, my friend who brought my coat, was not allowed back inside to retrieve the drinks they had already paid for, totaling approximately £20. We weren't even given the option to take the drinks in plastic cups or to get a refund. This blatant disregard for basic customer service and decency is unacceptable. Charging us for drinks we couldn't consume due to their draconian policies is outrageous. This kind of treatment shows a complete lack of respect for customers and a total failure to provide any reasonable accommodation or compensation. Molly Malones needs to drastically rethink their approach to handling such situations. The only reason people choose your venue is because it stays open late, but this incident has revealed a severe lack of fairness and basic human decency. I hope this review prompts a significant change in your policies, as no one should have to endure such unjust treatment. I urge everyone reading this to consider other options and avoid Molly Malones until they address these serious issues. Thank you for reading my review.

Really comfortable and welcoming atmosphere considering it was a busy Saturday afternoon, the staff were knowledgeable about the brands available and able to offer alternatives when the item requested wasn't available. The many screens were tuned to different events allowing choice and they were getting ready for some live music. The price was bang in the middle of city centre pricing, all in all a great experience.

Absolute rip off, spent £50 on 4 shots and two drinks. Drank every drop then left quickly. Check the price of your orders before you pay, almost predatory pricing at midnight!

Visited on a Friday night on my first trip to Brighton. The atmosphere was superb and everyone was relaxed and friendly. The staff worked hard to serve everyone quickly and there is a nice outdoor area at the back. There was also a band playing which this venue suits very well with a sizeable stage area. If you're in Brighton and looking for somewhere to go I would highly recommend.

Doesn't show any live Irish sport - this was a big let down. We asked to use their wifi and this was denied. Also asked could the staff charge our mobile phone which had died, the staff weren't helpful with this either. The live Irish music however was brilliant.

Molly’s is an awesome pub. This is a must go spot in Brighton for live music late at night. There is always a great atmosphere and the staff is amazing.

Being ID’d each time I need a beverage is boring, plus it’s all well expensive. Bar staff are sick of it n all.

I found the ambience a bit sterile midweek and wouldn't be inclined to visit again. However, I found the bartender to be pleasant and the beer OK.

£7.70 for a pint of Guinness, need i say more? Its a total disgrace. They up the price by a £1 after 10pm. Who does that? What an awful place, ripping off customers regularly when the price is already way too high. Its a irish pub in Brighton, not a fancy pub in London get a grip. You don't increase prices just because you have a few singers in the pub. Guinness was also average at best which made it even worse.

Shocking experience. Asked for two drinks one with lime one without and when I said to the girl it was only one drink with lime she was rude. Instead of changing the drink her reply was well you asked for them both with lime I didn’t. I then asked for another drink and she asked for the id of the person it was for and I said it was for me as well as I fancied a beer whilst ordering she said it was only one drink per person per round. I work in hospitality myself and have never heard of this before actually shocked by the service. I used to love this place and a shame that I am no longer in any hurry to return

Terrible service! Two employees, both rude and prickly. The whole place smells musty. Really dirty and disgusting toilets. Don't go here

Security are awful, sitting at a table near the stage listening to great live music, stared at the whole time by female security guard on the stage steps, my sister was asked for ID at the table, after showing her ID on the way in, and then asked again as she left, as a group on a night out celebrating a 40th birthday we felt uncomfortable because of this we left, felt like we committed a crime, under surveillance by security, absolutely ridiculous!

Great music and atmosphere but door staff let them down

Rude, uppity bar staff who demanded to see ID for all those consuming drinks, despite the fact every single customer is asked for ID before entry to the bar, and tried to be clever when I went to ask for ice (my partner had said no ice, forgetting that I prefer it). Miserable security staff who glare at you from in front of the stage while acts are playing. All in all, a pretty cold and unwelcoming atmosphere, especially for an Irish pub. £10.35 for a single Baileys is also a total ripoff. Absolutely avoid.

Refused me and 2 of my friends entry for being “too intoxicated”, despite us all not having a single drink before. “Your friend tripped on the curb” and “was swaying” - my friend is disabled. Didn’t even give us a reason until we respectfully asked, still to be turned away. Awful experience and such a shame, as I loved going to this pub before. On top of this, my friend is gay and feels like that is one of the reasons we were refused, as straight couples going in after were visibly drunk.

Was here on the 24th Jan I was being charged over £50 a go for beer when I asked for a smile for being robed I was told that would cost more! The staff here gave no customer service at tall if they don’t like the job then go! MALONES need to address this problem as soon as possible

Security are extremely rude. Friend got kicked out for being drunk and was seen tripping up the steep stairs.. forgot it was a pub I guess

...was asked to leave for putting my pint on the stage to clap the great live act....then surrounded by 6 poor excuse for security staff.....manager asked me to leave as this not allowed ....no signage ? For this crime .... For a man nearly 50 quite embarrassed ..with party of around 25 of us all having great time we all left and took our money elsewhere ....as a business ...lost a few quid there.. Security and manager are a shambles ......

I thoroughly enjoyed the new year race there. The mix of live singing and DJing was pretty neat.

Shared the toilet with a friend as girls do and got kicked out! Never in my 20 years pubbing and clubbing has that ever happened. Clearly just having a heart to heart and chat and nothing sinister happening. The lady door staff clearly had some sort of power complex and decided to kick us out, stating no one can share stalls. There are absolutely no signs that state this anywhere before entering the toilets. The lady door staff didn’t even entertain letting me explain what was happening. Shame really because we were all having a nice evening. They really need to be trained better on who is and isn’t a valued customer. The venue probably lost out on an additional £200 that night and we will never return.

I won't return to that place. The staff is rude and grumpy, seemingly enjoying hassling customers. The atmosphere is just not great. 😔

Brilliant night spent at Molly Malones. Buzzing atmosphere

Hello everyone, Sorry for the extensive downgrade, but I've been through a disheartening experince at Molly Malones. I will begin by saying that the venue is a really good medium for people to have a good, enjoyable time and the artists are all very accomplished. I will dive into the incident now. We were having a great time at the venue for a while and, then they decided to kick one of our friends out. The reason they proposed was that he was too drunk. As a group we all agreed that he was drunk and he agreed to leave the venue; to clarify there hasn't been any commotion, disrespect or harrasment of any kind, towards anyone (if need be the venue can share the recordings). Our friend was escorted by a security personel outside at -2 degrees, and kudos to the security guard, he allowed us to take out his coat which we did. When I stepped 1 foot out of the doorway they didn't let me back in for the drinks I bought (which amounted to 20~£.) At this point , I felt like it was too much of an injustice. They charged us for our drinks and didn't even allow us to take a plastic cup. You should at least be reasonable with your customers and provide proper compensation for the method you choose. To conclude, I hope you treat your customer's in a resonable demeanoner, the reason people choose you is because you stay open late at night (hope this changes and people won't prefer you in the days to come or of Molly Malone's goes through a strict policy change). I am for certain that there are people who have never had any trouble with the venue but he reason for this review is to emphasize that you can also found yourself in this unjust situation. Great singers and great pub but the bouncers were horrible, proper jobsworth and very rude to me and my friends would not recommend this pub due to the power hungry bouncers

It's a weird one! Always a great atmosphere and security are pretty good but the bar staff can he weird. Antagonising situations. I'm a 52 year old man, was out with a partner and before they served me they asked to see who I was with so i pointed her out but then demanded to see their ID. Taking in consideration we'd already come in through security on the door. Some bar staff would rather collect glasses and tidy the bar rather than serve people. Then the manager, a tall, camp guy can be completely off! Tried speaking with him a couple of times but he sort of sticks his nose in the air and tends to be a bit ignorant.... I'm sure he's a great guy, just maybe the bar industry isn't for him. No wonder the staff act like they do... Such a shame because it has such a great atmosphere!

I was there with a friend of mine. As soon as we got in, the management staff started bullying my friend, who hadn't done anything wrong at all. After half an hour, for no apparent reason, they put their hands on him and kicked him out quite violently, ruining our night. I will never return to this place. 🤮

I've been in Brighton for approximately 15 years and I am very aware that Molly Malone is one of the worst places in Brighton to be at night. A group of friends convinced me to go there for a drink. I had two drinks in a different pub beforehand and was feeling quite happy. As soon as I walked in, the management staff began to bully me simply because I was being friendly with other people and told my friends that I couldn't have any more drinks. After about half an hour, the security staff put their hands on me while I was outside smoking a cigarette and talking to my friends, all because I took a sip of beer from a friend of mine (I wasn't even aware that I wasn't allowed to drink anymore, lol). I was forcibly kicked out of the pub, something that has never happened to me in my entire life. The behavior from the management and security staff was disgusting, and based on the reviews I've read, it seems like this is what they enjoy doing there, randomly bullying, harassing and abusing people. There's no way that I or my friends will ever set foot in there again, especially when there are so many other friendly and cool pubs in the area.
