Mizumi in South Lakeland

A lovely place to dine and the spicy soup on the house was exceptional. Met with an amazing staff member Semra who helped us with the vegetarian options. A lovely friendly environment, aesthetically pleasing and would definitely recommend it.

Lovely food!. very romantic setting and ambience. Good menu options. Will definitely return on the near future. Service was also very good. The beef fillet and angry chicken dishes both very nice.

We went to Mizumi for the first time, recently. Everything was delicious!!! Each dish was superb. Nicely presented, and exceptional flavours. The decor and the setting is wonderful as well. We absolutely loved it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was just one negative about the experience, and it's worth a mention.... We got a lot of attitude from the waiters, at the start of the experience. I have a severe intolerance, which - history has proven - can always be worked around. I've never had a problem eating out (there has always been something that I can from any menu), I've only ever had a problem with waiters-with-attitude who make it a problem. We were asked right at the start if there are any allergies. I told them about my intolerances. In my case, it's onion and garlic. It's in A LOT of things, I know that, but I've always managed to eat things, at every restaurant I've ever been to. The response I got from the waitress was: "this is a JAPANESE restaurant". We were aware of. It's specifically why we chose it. We love Japanese food!! We had looked at the menu online beforehand and I saw that there were a number of dishes that would very likely be ok for me to have. The waitress went to tell another waiter, who came over and said that there wouldn't be anything on the menu that I could eat, but that he'd speak to the chef to see what they can do. He came back and said "unfortunately no, there's garlic and onion in everything. You can choose something from this bar menu instead" and he handed me a different menu which consisted of sandwiches, etc.. I said "Can I ask you about a few specific things to see if they can be done without garlic and onion?". He again said that he'd go speak to the chef to "see what they can do". He came back a minute later again and said that I can have the two fishes from the big sharing platters, but nothing from the small sharing platters. Hmmm. I again said "can I ask about a few specific things?". He said ok. I asked about the edamame, the scallops, and the prawn tempura. The first two could be done, he said, but not the prawn tempura. Which was strange. "Is there garlic/onion in the batter? Or in the dipping sauce?" I asked. "In the sauce". he said. "I can have it without the sauce" I said. I'm used to that. And so we ordered those 3 dishes as our starters, and both of the fish dishes (the monkfish and the seabass) as our mains. Along with Jasmine rice and tender-stem broccoli. My partner also ordered the Wagyu beef which I wouldn't eat, knowing that it would have garlic/onion in it. All of that was EXACTLY what we had PLANNED to order in the first place. Sigh.... Everything was amazing!!! The scallops were made in a delicious sauce. As was the Monkfish. The flamed edamame were incredible! The prawn tempura and seabass tempura were in a gorgeously scrumptious batter!!! And when the waiter put down the smoked Wagyu beef fillet (which is amazingly presented!) he said that the chef made it without garlic or onion, so I could have some of that as well! It went from 'you won't be able to order anything from the menu', to being served an absolute feast!! And being able to eat more than I had initially intended to (the beef was a delicious bonus!) It was a fantastic experience! And we highly recommend it. The whole rigmarole at the start was completely unnecessary and it just stank of attitude for the sake of it. It could have easily tarnished the experience if we had let it. We ordered exactly what we had planned to order, and it was all superb. We left feeling full, happy, and knowing that we'll be going back. Hopefully without the attitude, next time :)

What a stunning restaurant. As soon as they opened the doors into the beautifully appointed room we knew that this place was a bit special. The staff were excellent, paying just enough attention without being overbearing, and they were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was simply sublime and the romantic atmosphere was a total winner for us. I don’t doubt that we will be returning.

Absolutely over priced, thoughtless and dull food, possibly Yo-sushi standard if your lucky. All fur coat and no knickers, I'm not sure if it's a case of invalid reviews or biege food experts eating here. Won't be going back. The chefs here are amateurs at best regarding any Asian cuisine.

What a fabulous restaurant and a great addition to Bowness. Four of us went here for a Christmas night out. The setting is beautiful as was the food. Staff very attentive. We will be back
