Mitsuki in Leicester

Really delicious food. Good value. Simple environment. Friendly staff who (despite being very busy) were able to squeeze me in for a quick early dinner. I had the chili beef ramen noodles soup (although the Singapore laksa looked really good too. Argh! Decisions!) Thanks again, folks.

It's a shame we had to take our custom elsewhere. Lady said it'll be a few minutes. A table came free but they gave it to a couple who literally walked through the door - doubt they booked a table. No explanation by staff how much longer the wait. Even I knew at least 30min...the staff took no interest in our wait. We stood near the kitchen like spare parts so we decided to leave and head up London Road to the Hot Pot Sizchuan Restaurant. Not a bad place to be fair.

A must visit halal sushi place in Leicester. We visited recently. Second time for my wife. We love this place. A quaint place in size with a few tables I'd say max group size is 10 but be prepared to wait unless prebooked (highly recommended). Service is fast with a diverse menu. We ordered miso soup, chicken wings - Korean and salt/pepper flavour, pumpkin maki, avocado roll, beef lo mein and the duck rice. I must say the fish looks amazing and every other meal we saw looked stunning. The miso was hot and flavourful - a decent earthy effort. The wings were delicious. We preferred the sticky sweet Korean flavour but the salt/pepper was still very good. Loved the pumpkin maki, my wife preferred the avocado roll. Both decent portions. The beef lo mein was nice, it needed a smidge more salt so some soy sauce enhanced it, but the beef was tender and good quality. The duck was similar, well cooked but a heavy clove-like taste which was OK - just not our preferred taste. However this is being critical. The tea was warming. Service was rapid and attentive despite how busy they were. Only main downside is on a cold day the entrance impacts you given the tight space so you feel it every time the door opens. I can see why as maximising table space and this is only an issue on cold days. We loved Mitsuki and definitely coming back to try more.

I loved it the first time trying it that I went back again shortly after. The food was great, tasted really nice and didn't take long to serve. The staff were really friendly too. I recommend booking a table as this place is quite popular and can get quite busy. Parking can be a little difficult to find as it's on London road, but free street parking on the side streets or the paid car park at Victoria park are options.

We got the Gyoza ramen, the salmon teriyaki, and the chicken buns. Everything was amazing! The place was full when we arrived, and the staff made sure to get us and everyone seated without a reservation within a reasonable time. Very friendly staff and good food!

Fantastic gem hidden away in Leicester. The ramen is to die for and the steamed buns and rice dishes just as good. Nice freshly made sushi too. Desserts aren’t too good though so stick with the mains, it’s where the magic is.

went yesterday and it was a lovely experience. Excellent service from start to finish, waiters are very attentive and polite. The food is always so delicious, i’ve tried varying items from the menu and have thoroughly enjoyed them all! Have been during busy and quiet periods and i’m impressed at Mitsuki’s consistency with outstanding service and impeccable food. Also halal (bonus)!

Probably the best new restaurant in Leicester over the last few years. Not far from Leicester train station and on the popular London Road. Mitsuki specialises primarily in Japanese food - sushi and ramen. However, there are other elements of Chinese and Korean food on the menu. Perhaps one of the strengths of the restaurant is the starters. You can pretty much have dinner on these. The Japanese taco, wasabi prawns, Korean chicken, and embellished mushrooms are highly recommended. Bao buns are also on offer here. The sushi hand rolls are also superb, and the soft shell crab 🦀 one is particularly amazing. Often, I have the sushi platter, and the salmon is always exceptional quality. Next, ramen. These are somewhat unorthodox for purists. The duck kimchi and Singapore laska I have tried. The latter was my favourite. Rolls - there is a few pages of rolls. My advice - the mitsuki roll is sensational. Although something of a treat, it is incredible and worth it. Has some nice Asian lagers, including Asahi. Highly recommended place to eat. Clean and very friendly service.

I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been to Mitsuki now and each time I’m blown away! The food and service are consistently incredible, portion sizes are fantastic and everything is reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is very small and is constantly busy so I would recommend booking. I would highly recommend the Japanese salmon tacos, gyozas and the smoked duck kimchi ramen.

Authentic, very tasty food with a great selection of options (at least a dozen different rice dishes, sushi combinations, appetisers and noodle dishes). The staff were very friendly people, quiet but courteous, and a big thank you to the young lady who got me a table even though I didn't have a reservation. The broth was nice for the smoked duck ramen I had, and the meat itself was flavourful and cooked properly (sometimes you find lesser meat added to ramen at lesser restaurants, not here). I loved the Japanese style 'taco' as an appetiser, a large, crispy 'boat' holding tempura and a pumpkin croquette with some cucumber, topped with (I think) teriyaki sauce. A really satisfying combination of textures and flavours. £25 for a smoked duck ramen, veg 'tacos', a soft drink, plus a tip. It's easy to see why Mitsuki is so popular as it always seems to be packed; inexpensive, tasty Japanese food with plenty of choice. I'll definitely be back, though will book in advance next time.

Always have a pleasant meal here when I crave some authentic Japanese food. First time trying bento and it was packed with flavours and apt portion for a hearty meal. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will highly recommend trying avocado and smoked salmon roll!! 😇

Have been here quite a few times and the food is always quite good however today I ordered for collection and they told me it would be ready in 15mins. When I got there which was 20mins after the initial order, they didn’t even start making the order as there was no ticket printed. I asked 3 times if the order was ready after paying (in full) and she said it was but when I said are you making it now, she said yes they forgot and offered no apology. I don’t appreciate being lied to, I do appreciate an apology which I never got and the only thing she offered was to bring the food out to my car. Super disappointed that this place is just going down hill. Got my food an hour after I initially ordered, I could have just gone elsewhere if they told me the truth from the beginning but they decided to take the money first.

We went to this Japanese restaurant bcz it’s catered towards all of my friend’s food requirements. I eat halal meat and one of my friend is vegetarian. Me and another friend of mine got chicken katsu curry bento along with bun one was prawn and the other was duck meat. The bento was sooo good and the portion of it was huge!!! The miso is the best miso soup I have tasted in UK. It wasn’t salty like other places. My friend who is vegetarian she got Singaporean ramen which she said was really good and also got avocado maki. The food was 10/10. The service was top level! The girl who was taking our orders and served us was sweet and lovely. Even the chefs were nice and was asking from the kitchen if everything was good. Overall very satisfied both with service and food. Best Japanese food in Leicester 😍😍🍱

Lovely Japanese food you can eat regularly. Hearty ramen, edo and udon. Warming miso. As well as good sashimi and sushi - the signature Mitsuki Rolls are a MUST have, absolutely superb. Service is prompt and friendly, and clearly led by the owner. The atmosphere is convivial and lively due to it's proximity to Leicester uni. We've dined here twice now, and there will be a third time. Thank you Mitsuki!

Quickly became my partner’s favourite oriental restaurant. The chicken katsu curry and ramen was divine. The sushi fairly priced and the duck baobab was AMAZING. I love duck. Mandy was lovely and recommended her favourites without any hesitation so I knew from the off it would be killer. Very polite and respectful service paired with gorgeous food - couldn’t be happier!

Delicious food, especially the vegetarian sushi, and friendly service, choice of sake could have been better and a little cramped. But otherwise would definitely recommend! Can’t wait to go again :)

Marvellous experience. My girlfriend was in town for a few days. I suggested a meal at either Mumbai Inn or the Mitsuki, both on London Rd. She suggested Mitsuki as she likes Japanese food. Mitsuki isn't as plush as the Mumbai but that didn't detract from friendly surroundings and a very nice meal.

Go for the sushi. I tried other dishes at the restaurant but nothing beats the Japanese sushi. I've included the bill from 2022 and 2024. See the price difference in crunchy salmon roll. Earlier I believed the prices were moderate (went as a 3 person group in 2022 but 2 people in 2024) but now they're high.

Food came out very quick. Amazing flavours. Really loved the ramen. My favourite was the summer roll. Some of the best sushi I’ve ever tried. 10/10 recommend. I would come again for amazing authentic Japanese food that’s also halal!

Tried a ramen soup for takeaway. Despite the closing hour, the service was excellent. However, the ramen lacked flavor and the noodles seemed overcooked and blank loosing their texture, making it the worst I've had.

Sushi was good but the crab I had was not fresh so I could t eat it, the waitress was also rude and wouldn’t let me choose my seat despite the restaurant being empty. Seemed unnecessary.

I went here for lunch on my first ever visit to Leicester and it was magnificent. The food was delicious - the sushi in particular was impeccably tasty. The service was really friendly and overall great, and the atmosphere is just perfect (probably due to my good company too). It’s a cute, pretty and very pleasant place to dine. I would definitely visit again.

The door never closes and it always lets cold air in. I’ve been here many times over many years and you’d think a simple fix. They also often put you by the door which is not a nice place to sit. Tables are too close to others. This is a good location but sadly the staff aren’t very helpful to someone that doesn’t know Japanese food very well. Not enough help is given when ordering. I’ve been a few times but never really had an X factor. Staff are polite and it is always fully booked so they are clearly doing many things right and well.

Great food. I had lightly seared tuna with a delicious hot, spicy dressing over salad to start. Main was an eel and rice dish. The eel was tender, and served with a really nice sauce. On subsequent visits we’ve become big fans of the Mitsuki Rolls. You get four which makes it a great sharing dish. The Classic sushi and sashimi platter was lovely. Can’t beat warm saki to accompany everything.

Wow! Matsuki is busy for at least two very good reasons, great food and first class service. Everything on point - huge menu, can testify to the quality of vege dumplings, sashimi and ramen and vege bao bun.

A wonderful little place with some really lovely food. We really enjoyed the Crunchy Salmon Roll each mouthful had such a fantastic balance of so many different flavours! Service was both quick and friendly. Would highly recommend visiting but book ahead of time because it can get quite busy which tells you everything you need to know. Thanks for having us!

Came here during my lunchtime and it was amazing. From the hospitality to the food everything was outstanding. Came here during 1pm, it was a bit cold and the lovely lady put the heater on next to us. We ordered sushi rolls and it was delicious. Cannot fault it whatsoever

I ordered the beef ramen, the broth was flavoursome and the beef was tender. Fried chicken dumplings were divine! Friends enjoyed a side of warm sake and the plum wine was a hit

I’ve been here twice. The first time I got takeaway as I was in a hurry and the second time I ate in. Ordered the same thing both times - California roll and crab stick maki. California roll was yummy👌🏼 would recommend 👍(the takeaway photo is like that because I was walking around with it for 15 minutes)

I had a fantastic experience at Mitsuki! The traditional food was of excellent quality, and my friend and I enjoyed our meal. However, the only downside was that the restaurant became so full that they kept adding chairs to tables, which created a claustrophobic atmosphere. Despite this, the food and service were top-notch!

It was best Japanese food we ever had. Staff was very friendly too, we had decided last minute to dine here and had no reservations but staff accomodated us after short wait. And we were lucky that way as restaurant got very busy after that. Would recommend to do reservation beforehand.

I don’t think this is a place you should come for the authentic Japanese cuisine. Too many details are missing from the food and irrelevant ingredients are added. Still, it’s good for what it is, and as long as the sashimi is fresh, I don’t mind.

Very good Singapore laksa - must try. Signature dish. Sushi is of good quality. Not ideal, not perfect, just good compared to the rest. Fresh and correctly made. Definitely going to come back

Enjoyed a good choice of starters and mains! This place caters for vegetarian customers like myself. The noodles were very tasty and the service was excellent too. Waitress always had a smile on her face despite being very busy. Cute inside decor too

My girlfriend and I have been twice now, and we'd both agree it's excellent all around. There is a £15 minimum spend per person, which I didn't know about, but the quality is exceptional at a reasonable price. The first time we got the smoked duck ramen just after opening on a Sunday, and service was prompt with a short wait time for food. The dish was delicious, and they offer forks for those who are unable to use chopsticks (*cough* my girlfriend *cough*). The second time we shared a teriyaki chicken ramen, salmon maki, tempura prawn hand-roll and chocolate dorayaki. The ramen wasn't quite as good as the smoked duck I'd had previously, but still exceptional quality. The maki was hands down the best sushi I've ever had, and the hand-roll was delicious too. This time, it was around 19:00 on a Sunday, so the place was much busier - it's a tight squeeze! Food still arrived very quickly though. Would 100% recommend, and I will be going again.

Unassuming restaurant with excellent food and service. We ordered Agadashi Tofu, Chicken Terayaki, Salmon Nigiri and Tuna Tataki. This is the best Japanese we’ve had for a long time.

Our son introduced us to this great restaurant with delicious Japanese food and friendly service. The Hirata buns and Japanese Tacos were delicious as were the beef and noodles. Highly recommended.

Man I love Mitsuki... Not much to say but what incredible food. The Starters being a personal favourite, especially the Bao Buns. Ramen and Katsu rice dish have been 2 of my favourite mains. Small ish place so feels a squeeze and with the door swinging open semi regularly it can be a bit louder or cool. Doesn't take away from the 5 star food.

Very good, little bit on the expensive side but the food is very good. Its a small establishment so I think booking would be recommended.

Great service, delicious fresh food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It’s a small restaurant but an inviting space and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food really was more than we expected…..So good!!! Really happy to find that the meat was Halal and that they had duck which is a hard thing to find. We would definitely recommend and it will be our new favourite Japanese/Sushi spot from now on.

Had a booking for 6:30pm and was allowed to have my table early. Was very busy so make sure you book! The food was absolutely amazing, by far the best sushi I’ve had and I’ve tried all the places in Leicester. The price is good value for money and the service was quick. The food taste fresh and hot. I got the summer roll, crunchy spicy tuna roll and rainbow roll and it was all so delicious. Duck bao bun and prawn+veg tempura was tasty too. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back here. The restaurant is quiet small and definitely could use more space between tables would be my only feedback but it’s a no brainer to come back for the food!

Having dined at numerous Japanese restaurants across over 8 countries, this one easily stands at the top of my list. The food is of exceptional quality and incredibly tasty. The staff, always wearing warm smiles, were incredibly friendly. I strongly recommend this place to anyone seeking an outstanding dining experience.

First time and really enjoyed it, can’t wait to go back. We had the honey prawns, chicken dumplings, bao buns and Singapore curry. All were delicious and fresh, food arrived quickly. Had to knock off 1 star bc it was soooo cold in the restaurant, I had to keep my coat on! Despite that, I’d still go back. Edit - Defo 5 stars Been back 2x since the original review and food is consistently good. It was packed to the brim on a Thursday evening, and they were turning people away - so book ahead. Only gripe about atmosphere is that it feels very noisy and tables are close together so you can hear other people’s conversations.

First time in Mitsuki, found it a while back and had been meaning to go. Service was really friendly, menus all packed with great dishes and the smells coming from the kitchen were amazing. We had Takoyaki, two types of Nigiri, Chicken Bao's and a Teriyaki Beef Bowl. Everything was delicious and really fresh. That plus drinks came to under £40. Really good value. We are very pleased to have found a Japanese gem in Leicester.

A smaller restaurant that shouldn’t be underrated! Food is superb and freshly cooked, and well presented, Chinese beer is very cold, as are other drinks We tend to go on Friday evenings and recommend booking, but we have managed in the past to walk in,
