Mitsuki in Leicester

I love eating out here, I always bring my friends here when they visit from out of the city.

Quickly became my partner’s favourite oriental restaurant. The chicken katsu curry and ramen was divine. The sushi fairly priced and the duck baobab was AMAZING. I love duck. Mandy was lovely and recommended her favourites without any hesitation so I knew from the off it would be killer. Very polite and respectful service paired with gorgeous food - couldn’t be happier!

Delicious food, especially the vegetarian sushi, and friendly service, choice of sake could have been better and a little cramped. But otherwise would definitely recommend! Can’t wait to go again :)

Small but charming eatery, food was really tasty and I would revisit again. The takeaway sashimi also very good.

Marvellous experience. My girlfriend was in town for a few days. I suggested a meal at either Mumbai Inn or the Mitsuki, both on London Rd. She suggested Mitsuki as she likes Japanese food. Mitsuki isn't as plush as the Mumbai but that didn't detract from friendly surroundings and a very nice meal.

A fantasticly authentic Japanese dining experience. Each of the servings I had was delectable and sumptuous.

Go for the sushi. I tried other dishes at the restaurant but nothing beats the Japanese sushi. I've included the bill from 2022 and 2024. See the price difference in crunchy salmon roll. Earlier I believed the prices were moderate (went as a 3 person group in 2022 but 2 people in 2024) but now they're high.

Food came out very quick. Amazing flavours. Really loved the ramen. My favourite was the summer roll. Some of the best sushi I’ve ever tried. 10/10 recommend. I would come again for amazing authentic Japanese food that’s also halal!

Tried a ramen soup for takeaway. Despite the closing hour, the service was excellent. However, the ramen lacked flavor and the noodles seemed overcooked and blank loosing their texture, making it the worst I've had.

Sushi was good but the crab I had was not fresh so I could t eat it, the waitress was also rude and wouldn’t let me choose my seat despite the restaurant being empty. Seemed unnecessary.

I went here for lunch on my first ever visit to Leicester and it was magnificent. The food was delicious - the sushi in particular was impeccably tasty. The service was really friendly and overall great, and the atmosphere is just perfect (probably due to my good company too). It’s a cute, pretty and very pleasant place to dine. I would definitely visit again.

Lovely food and friendly helpful staff

The door never closes and it always lets cold air in. I’ve been here many times over many years and you’d think a simple fix. They also often put you by the door which is not a nice place to sit. Tables are too close to others. This is a good location but sadly the staff aren’t very helpful to someone that doesn’t know Japanese food very well. Not enough help is given when ordering. I’ve been a few times but never really had an X factor. Staff are polite and it is always fully booked so they are clearly doing many things right and well.

Fabulous food and service on our second visit. It's quickly becoming our favourite place in Leicester. We very much appreciate how nice the staff are and the tasty dishes served.

Great food. I had lightly seared tuna with a delicious hot, spicy dressing over salad to start. Main was an eel and rice dish. The eel was tender, and served with a really nice sauce. On subsequent visits we’ve become big fans of the Mitsuki Rolls. You get four which makes it a great sharing dish. The Classic sushi and sashimi platter was lovely. Can’t beat warm saki to accompany everything.

Wow! Matsuki is busy for at least two very good reasons, great food and first class service. Everything on point - huge menu, can testify to the quality of vege dumplings, sashimi and ramen and vege bao bun.

A wonderful little place with some really lovely food. We really enjoyed the Crunchy Salmon Roll each mouthful had such a fantastic balance of so many different flavours! Service was both quick and friendly. Would highly recommend visiting but book ahead of time because it can get quite busy which tells you everything you need to know. Thanks for having us!

Came here during my lunchtime and it was amazing. From the hospitality to the food everything was outstanding. Came here during 1pm, it was a bit cold and the lovely lady put the heater on next to us. We ordered sushi rolls and it was delicious. Cannot fault it whatsoever

We've visited the restaurant as a company of 3 people - myself, my Mom and my fiancee. The atmosphere was lovely, we enjoyed the food and the service.

I ordered the beef ramen, the broth was flavoursome and the beef was tender. Fried chicken dumplings were divine! Friends enjoyed a side of warm sake and the plum wine was a hit

The food felt authentic and true to Japanese Cuisine. I ordered the tempura and chicken yakisoba - both were very good.

I’ve been here twice. The first time I got takeaway as I was in a hurry and the second time I ate in. Ordered the same thing both times - California roll and crab stick maki. California roll was yummy👌🏼 would recommend 👍(the takeaway photo is like that because I was walking around with it for 15 minutes)

Extremely delicious food every-time I go. I highly recommend Mitsuki. Each dish is packed with flavour. The menu is also excellent and can accommodate to many different dietary requirements.

I had a fantastic experience at Mitsuki! The traditional food was of excellent quality, and my friend and I enjoyed our meal. However, the only downside was that the restaurant became so full that they kept adding chairs to tables, which created a claustrophobic atmosphere. Despite this, the food and service were top-notch!

It was best Japanese food we ever had. Staff was very friendly too, we had decided last minute to dine here and had no reservations but staff accomodated us after short wait. And we were lucky that way as restaurant got very busy after that. Would recommend to do reservation beforehand.

Treated, 1st visit. Wow...loved it. I recommend you book a table. Small cosy restaurant. Full the whole time we were there. Extensive menu. Attentive staff. Very very efficient. Orders came out very quickly. I think the owners were hoping to turn tables...but didn't feel rushed. We'll be back.

We went to this Japanese restaurant bcz it’s catered towards all of my friend’s food requirements. I eat halal meat and one of my friend is vegetarian. Me and another friend of mine got chicken katsu curry bento along with bun one was prawn and the other was duck meat. The bento was sooo good and the portion of it was huge!!! The miso is the best miso soup I have tasted in UK. It wasn’t salty like other places. My friend who is vegetarian she got Singaporean ramen which she said was really good and also got avocado maki. The food was 10/10. The service was top level! The girl who was taking our orders and served us was sweet and lovely. Even the chefs were nice and was asking from the kitchen if everything was good. Overall very satisfied both with service and food. Best Japanese food in Leicester 😍😍🍱

Very good Singapore laksa - must try. Signature dish. Sushi is of good quality. Not ideal, not perfect, just good compared to the rest. Fresh and correctly made. Definitely going to come back

I don’t think this is a place you should come for the authentic Japanese cuisine. Too many details are missing from the food and irrelevant ingredients are added. Still, it’s good for what it is, and as long as the sashimi is fresh, I don’t mind.

Enjoyed a good choice of starters and mains! This place caters for vegetarian customers like myself. The noodles were very tasty and the service was excellent too. Waitress always had a smile on her face despite being very busy. Cute inside decor too

My girlfriend and I have been twice now, and we'd both agree it's excellent all around. There is a £15 minimum spend per person, which I didn't know about, but the quality is exceptional at a reasonable price. The first time we got the smoked duck ramen just after opening on a Sunday, and service was prompt with a short wait time for food. The dish was delicious, and they offer forks for those who are unable to use chopsticks (*cough* my girlfriend *cough*). The second time we shared a teriyaki chicken ramen, salmon maki, tempura prawn hand-roll and chocolate dorayaki. The ramen wasn't quite as good as the smoked duck I'd had previously, but still exceptional quality. The maki was hands down the best sushi I've ever had, and the hand-roll was delicious too. This time, it was around 19:00 on a Sunday, so the place was much busier - it's a tight squeeze! Food still arrived very quickly though. Would 100% recommend, and I will be going again.

Unassuming restaurant with excellent food and service. We ordered Agadashi Tofu, Chicken Terayaki, Salmon Nigiri and Tuna Tataki. This is the best Japanese we’ve had for a long time.

Our son introduced us to this great restaurant with delicious Japanese food and friendly service. The Hirata buns and Japanese Tacos were delicious as were the beef and noodles. Highly recommended.

Man I love Mitsuki... Not much to say but what incredible food. The Starters being a personal favourite, especially the Bao Buns. Ramen and Katsu rice dish have been 2 of my favourite mains. Small ish place so feels a squeeze and with the door swinging open semi regularly it can be a bit louder or cool. Doesn't take away from the 5 star food.

Very good, little bit on the expensive side but the food is very good. Its a small establishment so I think booking would be recommended.

Would have been better if the vegan options were more clearly labelled on the menu, but I had the vegetarian Singaporean laksa with udon noodles and it was INCREDIBLE! 10/10 will be returning

Great service, delicious fresh food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It’s a small restaurant but an inviting space and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food really was more than we expected…..So good!!! Really happy to find that the meat was Halal and that they had duck which is a hard thing to find. We would definitely recommend and it will be our new favourite Japanese/Sushi spot from now on.

I came here a few times and the food and service has always been amazing. My favourite dishes are takoyaki and wasabi prawns, and I always get the mituski sushi box as well! Definitely great fish quality

Had a booking for 6:30pm and was allowed to have my table early. Was very busy so make sure you book! The food was absolutely amazing, by far the best sushi I’ve had and I’ve tried all the places in Leicester. The price is good value for money and the service was quick. The food taste fresh and hot. I got the summer roll, crunchy spicy tuna roll and rainbow roll and it was all so delicious. Duck bao bun and prawn+veg tempura was tasty too. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back here. The restaurant is quiet small and definitely could use more space between tables would be my only feedback but it’s a no brainer to come back for the food!

Having dined at numerous Japanese restaurants across over 8 countries, this one easily stands at the top of my list. The food is of exceptional quality and incredibly tasty. The staff, always wearing warm smiles, were incredibly friendly. I strongly recommend this place to anyone seeking an outstanding dining experience.

First time and really enjoyed it, can’t wait to go back. We had the honey prawns, chicken dumplings, bao buns and Singapore curry. All were delicious and fresh, food arrived quickly. Had to knock off 1 star bc it was soooo cold in the restaurant, I had to keep my coat on! Despite that, I’d still go back. Edit - Defo 5 stars Been back 2x since the original review and food is consistently good. It was packed to the brim on a Thursday evening, and they were turning people away - so book ahead. Only gripe about atmosphere is that it feels very noisy and tables are close together so you can hear other people’s conversations.

First time in Mitsuki, found it a while back and had been meaning to go. Service was really friendly, menus all packed with great dishes and the smells coming from the kitchen were amazing. We had Takoyaki, two types of Nigiri, Chicken Bao's and a Teriyaki Beef Bowl. Everything was delicious and really fresh. That plus drinks came to under £40. Really good value. We are very pleased to have found a Japanese gem in Leicester.

A smaller restaurant that shouldn’t be underrated! Food is superb and freshly cooked, and well presented, Chinese beer is very cold, as are other drinks We tend to go on Friday evenings and recommend booking, but we have managed in the past to walk in,

Really great tasty food and overall good service, one let down we had not booked a table and was waiting to be seated for longer than necessary although there were empty tables, however would still recommend and come again.

I love this restaurant!!! I finally found a place outside of London that serves halal duck. My duck and rice was perfect, so was the takouaki and miso soup. Service was excellent, food was perfect. Made to order fresh and tasty. I can’t wait to come back!

Service was fast and good. Staff were friendly. Food was good, the beef rice was amaaaaazing. Sushi was nice too. Bao buns were nice but my wife found them a bit too sweet for her liking. No complaints though, would definitely come back.

Meeting up with my family we chose to dine here on Wednesday night and it was a great choice. We did book a table and as we got there at 7pm all of the tables apart from ours was taken. There were 4 people in our group. We had a starter each and a main course and the total bill was around a hundred pounds. We were all happy with the tastes and flavour of our food and nothing was left on our plates. The owner and the other staff were all really friendly and the service was very fast. All delicious food.

The food was really delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. Service was very good they were able to cater for our group. Will definitely return. Beef yakisoba was the best I’ve ever had. The Bao buns were filled well and so soft and fluffy. And it’s halal! Thank you guys

Food was excellent. We had tempura veg, tempura prawn, yakitori chicken and soft shell crab to start. All properly delicious and perfectly prepared. Mains were chacha roll (duck sushi), rainbow roll, chicken soba noodles and spicy beef noodle soup (only moderately spicy), with a side of avocado maki. Again, all very delicious. Service was quick and polite. House red was also decent (which isn't always true in places where wine isn't the point!). Only thing to consider is that the food comes out as and when it's ready, rather than in courses, so though it came in order of starters then mains, there were gaps between dishes of the same course. Not a problem if you're sharing dishes, which we were, so would recommend this approach to avoid any awkward waiting/eating whilst others have nothing to eat. I recommend you book. We went on a random mid month Thursday and it was busy very quickly. All tables around us had also booked. Walk-ins aren't likely to get a table. Venue itself felt clean and friendly, if a tiny bit cramped. On street parking available only around the corner. Prices very reasonable. 4 adults had two courses and two drinks each and came to £101.

Best sushi in Leicester. It's just the venue is quite small...

My daughter introduced me to this place as she has a love for all things Japanese food. This place literally blew my mind. The service was attentive and extremely efficient, but the star of the show was the food. For those that don't normally venture away from high street chains, think Wagamama on steroids with much better ingredients and a very authentic taste. I will definitely be visiting this place again.

One of my favorite spots in Leicester. We always get sushi and it never disappoints. The takoyaki is authentic and so tasty! We’ve also ordered some katsu curry and ramen which were also very good! Would highly recommend

The Mitsuki roll is insanely delicious. One of the best sushi rolls I have enjoyed in the uk. The duck bao buns were also incredible. Very rarely do I ever get impressed but these were fantastic!

the atmosphere is very intimate and cosy, the host was accommodating to our seating preference and the FOOD, hands down the best chilli chicken ramen ive ever had. the broth is so flavour ful and the chicken melts in your mouth. the tempure prawn sushi is so fresh and light i could have ate the whole plate, cant wait to come back again

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! Food was so flavourful especially enjoyed the Laksa and the black sesame mochi 🥰 Everyone at the restaurant was so sweet as well, haven’t left a restaurant this satisfied in ages! Will be going back to try literally everything else on the menu!

Lovely Asian restaurant. We tried a number of the maki / nigiris, as well as ramen. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff are super friendly and I would recommend for anyone in Leicester to visit.

Really tasty ramen, sushi and sides. Would recommend if you are craving ramen and sushi. However, I would not recommend the other noodle or rice dishes as they do not taste authentic at all, more like a chinese takeout than japanese food.
