Came here as reviews were great just to try somewhere new. Food was pretty terrible. Felt like they watched YouTube on how to make sushi and forgot. Service was fine and they are polite but sorry the food was awful. Spent £30 on my son and we but left to go to somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend here if you are a sushi fan. Best compared to tesco sushi at best.

I ordered a delivery of mixed sushi sets and a a chicken katsu curry. The price and portion were ok. The chicken katsu tasted quite nice, but the sushis were a letdown. It was obvious that they used a sushi maker. You can tell from the identical and consistent angular shape of the rice and the fact that the fish meat was completely detached from the rice.

We order food today it was really bad it was really expensive for the quality I will definitely never order there again

Went today and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The sushi platter was lovely! All the pieces tasted amazing and smelled fresh ! We also got the Katsu curry chicken bowl and it was delicious. Very good quality especially for the price . The portions were big and the staff were more than happy to pack the rest of the food for us to take home . While the shop being small might be a bit uncomfortable I found it quite homey and comfortable maybe because we went when they were not too busy . Overall an amazing experience! Can’t wait to try more dishes from there.

High quality sushi and friendly service

A little gem ! We came here for lunch and dinner 2 days in a row when we had an unexpected stay in Leicester. Delicious vegetarian options - agadashi tofu, nasu miso aubergine, spinach with peanut sauce, maki - all freshly made to order. Service is quick and friendly. Very popular (constant stream of Uber eats pick-ups coming through the door) and even though the dining area is teeny, it’s possible to squeeze quite a few guests in. We nearly walked past as it’s so easy to miss but glad we didn’t as the food is amazing and really good value

The best Japanese I’ve had in a good while! The tempura is to die for and the prices are amazing. Small venue but nice and cosy.

Unexpectedly delicious. Hhh. I always pass through this mini restaurant, and today finally decided to give a go. Actually better than I expected! Recommend that tempura prawn noodle soup. We also ordered chicken katsu curry, their rice is sushi rice, tastes different and it’s a good value. Sushi platter is better than individual sushi we ordered. Will come back again.

They usually don’t reserve tables but he did it only because it was my baby’s birthday! A very kind gentleman, delicious food and quick service! My daughter was extremely happy with everything! The sushi tastes good and the price is average. The fresher fish would be better. The udon tastes very good, but I suggest the soup be hotter and not so sweet. Overall, it is a satisfying meal. Btw they provide free green tea, its quite rare in uk, not bad👍🏻

The estimated time changed a couple times apparently took long to find a driver on a Wednesday night!! Guess that is just eats problem. Two different sets of rolls where too spicy even though they where not the spicy sushi! Rest of the sushi was nice but not amazing!

It's very tiny place. I'm a bit concern that there is no place for me to sit but luckily i did. I tried udon and thats decent. What i love is Chicken fried rice! It tastes like Pepper lunch. Love it

Came here with my situationship on a date and had the most soul crushing heartbreaking false hope experience of my life. Atmosphere in the restaurant was impeccable - the 6 or so seats make the restaurant feel cozy and authentic, like a proper sushi bar. All the food is prepared in front of you and is very fresh, the servers and chefs are all lovely and were very accommodating despite the fact we arrived half an hour before closing and stayed 15 minutes past their advertised hours. The food itself is spectacular, the salmon teriyaki I had was cooked to perfection with perfectly sticky yet fluffy rice. Easily the best sushi place we have ever eaten at, so good she took her boyfriend there two weeks later. The chopstick tutorial on the wall is a lovely touch - definitely worth visiting to cheat on your partner with.

I am really ill so I placed an order with Uber eats, I chose this place because it’s close to my house and had really good reviews… besides the delivery taking 1h20 when it said 20-35 min on the app ( it wasn’t the drivers fault, the restaurant just didn’t make my order in time) I ordered a miso soup and a chicken fried rice… the paper bag with the order was all wet, the soup was halfway spilled and had an horrible after taste (keep in mind I love miso soup and always have it at different places) and the chicken fried rice was so salty I literally could not finish it. The portions were also very small… So unhappy, im trying to get a refund, I never order food cuz I think it’s way too expensive and now this happens, it took ages and food sucks. 😫😫😫

The Tempura Udon is a hearty flavourful dish. Perfectly filling and the Tempura is lovely and crunchy. The service was fast and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is Halal and offers a wide range of authentic Japanese dishes prepared fresh and authentically. The restaurant isn't big enough to invite a large group to but you can get a take away for everyone to enjoy the goodness. 10/10 recommend.

Feels just like a real Japanese restaurant!

First things first, the food is AMAZING. And, with some many plates coming in under a few pounds, you can pick and mix and try a whole selection of dishes. The noodle soups were exceptional value; have paid over twice as much for worse at other Japanese restaurants. We went here because my daughter is mad about Japanese food, and her one word review was "Heaven". She went back for just one more sushi roll; not because she was still hungry, but because she liked it so much. One small note: there are only eight seats if you're eating in. Look through the window, and that's the space. The place is TINY. We didn't mind this though, as it gave it an authentic feel, even when the place was FULL (with a couple of Deliveroo guys added into the mix as well). Great food. Bargain prices. We will be back for more!

not high quality but tasted ok for these prices, nothing like the old bonzai standard. Also arrived alarmingly a little warm (sushi should be cold)

We have ordered tempura bento, Unagi bowl, tempura udon and soft crispy crab hand roll. They are all tasting good. Most important it is quite close to the original Japan taste.

This is a very nice little place to order from, the Karage chicken is very tasty although a bit pricey, All of the tofu is very good the only thing is the sushi rice i don't think it was seasoned as i didn't taste any vinegar in it. OK for the price as far as sushi goes.

While staying in hospital with my son i thought we'd have a treat and eat proper fresh sushi. We ate some new things we haven't tried some was really yummy and definitely eat again some not so yummy but was still a good experience.

Honestly horrible quality of fish/sushi. The price reflects this, and I wish I ordered from somewhere like itsu now. The octopus in particular was really rubbery I couldn’t even bite into it, and the seaweed was so chewy that I couldn’t bite into the rolls. Sorry for the bad review but I was very disappointed as I only ate about 6 pieces of sushi out of the 18 pieces I’d ordered. Also not enough wasabi or soy sauce for the amount of ordered too (1 packet wasabi and 2 soy).

Went to this little place all the way through uni and continued going while I lived in the area. The chef is always really lovely and the sushi has been nothing but fresh in all the years.

Just incredible, the food came quickly and we were given soo much miso soup which tasted fantastic. The sushi you can watch being prepared in front of you if you sit at the back. The portion sizes of the rice and noodle dishes was perfect and incredible value for money.

One of the hidden gems in Leicester. Sushi and Japanese noodle restaurant which is naturally small. Has an excellent selection of vegan options; pumpkin croque and the tofu steak particularly. 😋 The mango fruit shake is also top notch. Staff are awesome.

Definition of not to judge a book by its cover. Although a small shop, the food was absolutely amazing! I had the salmon, tuna and octopus nigiri sushi + tempura udon. The fish was so fresh, you could literally taste how fresh it was. The udon was amazing and the tempura prawn was fried perfectly. Price was very very reasonable and the chef was super lovely! 100% would come again.

One of the greatest places to eat in Leicester. Food is absolutely immaculate and tastes better than any Japanese cuisine I've had in England so far, rivaling that of what I ate in Tokyo itself! You can watch the chef prepare your sushi right in front of you and he is nothing but friendly and helpful. Wait times can be slightly long but it's always worth it no matter what. Not only that, but it's EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE, which is a rarity with most Japanese restaurants in this country. I would recommend it to anyone, whether you get sushi, sashimi, udon, curry, nigiri or anything else, it will all be perfect from my experience.

What a wonderful accident it was finding this place. By far one of the BEST sushi places I have been to. I know that sounds like an exaggeration but trust me. They used the finest quality ingredients, everything was 10/10 delicious and the chef was so welcoming. The value for money is the icing on the cake. Highly recommend!!!

WOW! what a place! loved every second of it. from the moment i walked in. Best sushi in Leicester! highly recommend. Chef and hospitality were fantanstic!

Don't believe the ratings - avoid dirty! The food is not authentic and the preparation is dirty. Eel was defrosted from its store bought pre-seasoned under running water and sliced for a dish. The "chef" who very boldly prepares sushi on the open counter keeps a bowel on in the sink which he washes hands into, dips the sushi knife into as well as storing a dish cloth used to prepare sushi rolls. "Tempura" shrimp was store bought pre breaded shrimp that was fried in oil. Wasabi was in a container amalgamated and looked like play doh - didn't touch On arrival all raw products are already sliced and stored in plastic containers and simply picked out and placed on rice from a big container. Based on the quality and pre bought nature of the food it is probably just raw store bought fish that is sliced and not sashimi grade or treated appropriately to minimise parasites.

First time here, just opened during the day, i am the first customer. If you decided to eat in, the place is so small and cramp. I bring my stroller baby and need to fold it, probably only fit for 6 people The food is unbelivably cheap, the taste was decent. The ramen/udon broth was too sweet for me. Sushi taste was 6/10 bcs the rice bit dry The staff very friendly 👍👍💯

After a million and one visits: I wish I could keep rating this place a 10 everyday. It is my go to place and have to hold myself back from going daily. It is absolutely Perfect. Everything tastes delicious and the staff are incredible! I usually go for the udon tempura, katsu chicken and curry, mixed sushi platter ( number 5), it has a very cozy feel to the place and very good prices. I always urge everyone to go because it is the best Japanese food in leicester ( and i have tried my fair share of places) First visit: We were walking past their shop and couldn’t help but go in for a taste. We got a mix sushi platter number 5. The staff were very friendly and the chef took the time to make it presentable. Also, the prices are great. This platter was for 8 £, I will definitely be coming back often

The workers and the atmosphere was pleasing to me. The food was amazing and had reasonable prices. I enjoyed my time there so much and I recommend. The only problem I had was finishing the noodles because of how large they were. Although that may be the normal size but it was definetly too big for me.

I used to love ordering from them but my last two experiences put me off. The rude man that works there hung up the phone when I was complaining and refused to give a refund even though it is the shops fault. Their customer service is a joke he definitely needs to learn how to communicate with customers in a better manner.

I love sushi and when I returned to Leicester, Kuru Kuru was a god send, as I would prefer quality over quantity with sushi, any day. I have been lucky enough to try some amazing sushi chefs around the world. I have been loyal here for years, but the last couple of orders have had a repeating theme, messy/lazy construction of the rolls, plus stale soft shell crab :-( Not the normal great quality unfortunately. Still 5 stars for taste 👍🏽

Best value for money Japanese restaurant in Leicester without a doubt. Kuru Kuru offer authentic experience of Japanese dishes, ranging from Udon, Soba, and sushi. Hot food price starts from only 3.5 Pounds which is truly cheap. The portion size is moderate but the taste is better than the other big names around Leicester city center without a doubt. The atmosphere of the restaurant is truly heartfelt and cozy just like restaurant in Japan due to the decoration. The chef is very polite and he makes each sushi with delicacy and technique. Same goes for the staffs who are truly service minded, very polite and never fails to put a smile on their faces. Ultimately, I highly recommended the restaurant for both dine in and takeaways. (If you wish to dine in please call in and make reservations due to the limited seats that's available in the restaurant).

This is a cute little authentic place. Completely halal yet deliciously authentic Japanese. The fish was fresh. Katsu Chicken with curry on rice and hand rolled spiny tuna sushi roll were mindblowing. And budget wise, you just cannot complain. We will be coming back for more! Love the free green tea on the house.

I've been in Leicester for over 3 years but it's so funny that I've never been to this restaurant before. My first time here was super brilliant and memorable. Well, I'm a little bit picky when it comes to food but the sushi chef and all staff were very kind and willing to help me recommend all the great dishes. I had chicken teriyaki roll, tempura udon, and soft shell crab hand roll for dinner. The chicken was very juicy and fresh. Soup in udon was good and my best part was soft shell crab, I really recommend this one. I never give any reviews on Google, it's not my thing but this's gonna be my first time because I'm really impressed for their services and food quality. Will definitely come back!

Would give no stars if possible. First the sushi isn’t authentic and it’s evident when you walk in, also shop stinks and is extremely humid. My main issue was with my last order, I got the chicken Teriyaki roll and salmon and both were OFF. My friend and I couldn’t even eat a single chicken roll as it was rotten chicken and we were put off from eating the rest of the order. Huge waste, when I called in about the concern I insisted that they try the sushi as I saved it in the fridge and was speechless at the fact that rotten chicken was served, they didn’t want to try it. Can’t imagine how bad the food can be if the people working there won’t try it. I was told I’d get a call back to sort the issue and that NEVER happened. Stingy and unorganised place I’m shocked that the rating aren’t lower. There’s a much fresher sushi spot in London road where I’ll be getting my sushi from now on.
