A friend told me she would take me to Stony Stratford for a late birthday lunch. Having looked at the places available online, I found Miss Havisham’s Tearoom. It’s just my sort of place, so when my friend agreed I was happy. When we arrived we were told to go upstairs for table service - probably an important thing to know if you’re physically disabled. We were given a choice of tables. The music was 40s/50s at a guess, giving it a vintage vibe. We ordered our food and drinks, and it didn’t take long. The food was delicious, and freshly made to order. I was really pleased with our visit and would recommend to others.

I visited with family, and we had the afternoon tea. It was windy, and our table was rocking. Staff noticed this and moved us to another table. The tea and coffee are both excellent and the cakes are freshly made and very tasty. It is simple, good food in a place that is charming and always a pleasure to visit.

Went for a lovely Afternoon Tea at this very quaint Tea Room. The sandwiches, scones and sweet treats are all freshly made and beautifully presented on fine bone China crockery, and the ambience and service were exceptional! The ladies made our afternoon feel special even though they were very busy with locals coming in for lunch/brunch or tea/coffee and cake - always a good sign! A couple of tips - you do need to order Afternoon Tea at least 24 hours in advance, there are stairs up to the tearoom, and it was a shame we didn't know we could have prosecco until we were leaving - still, next time!

My Auntie and I had afternoon tea here today. One sweet and one savoury. It was absolutely fantastic, so fresh and homemade. The scone was huge and warm. The staff were also really friendly and attentive. The tea room is traditional with vintage cups and saucers. When booking I said that it was for my aunties 50th, and they put a birthday banner up next to our table and decorated one of the cakes with a 50 candle. The tea rooms themselves are small, so I’d recommend booking, however they do takeaways too. Wonderful independent business. Could not recommend enough.

We visited for the first time. I booked afternoon tea after hearing lovely reviews. There is a sweet and savoury option which was a refreshing change. Everything came beautifully presented. They kindly made a jam sandwich for my fussy teen which was greatly appreciated. We couldn't finish everything so the left over cakes were bagged up for us to take home. The scones were among the best I'd ever tasted. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful tea room in a lively backstreet court setting. We have our dog with us, I don't know if the tea room, inside, is dog friendly, because we tend to sit outside on sunny days. But the stsff always bring out a water bowl for the dog and some Doggy treats.Great cakes, lovely English tea served from the finest bone China, and good sandwiches. I would probably say that there are 2 areas of improvements. 1) the scones are a bit rubbish. They taste cheap and store bought. They're not fresh.2) the cafe closes at 3pm, sometimes at 2:30pm, even on Saturdays. At 3:10pm, after a good shopping spree on the high street, we earned ourselves a cream tea and the tea room was closed, like all independent cafe's in Stony Stratford. So, off we went to Costa. However, this is a beautiful tea room, welcoming, great tea and situated in a lovely back street court.

We ordered the special house blend, which wasn't anything too different but still a great cup of tea. Then we ordered the jacket potato which was offered with a great selection of fillings (we got Mexican chicken). The portion size was very big and very tasty. We finished off with a coffee and walnut cake which was lovely and moist. Overall a very desirable experience, great decor, great customer service, very polite waitresses and staff and good attention to details. Whilst it wasn't cheap or expensive, seems like a very good value for money due to the portions of size. Highly recommend! Will be coming again.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Rather disorganised, a small place which seems to be struggling to cope with orders and customers. A number of staff were multi tasking behind the counter from making sandwiches to answering the phonecalls and taking money. While preparing sandwiches I noticed they were using their FINGERS to pick up ingredients such as cucumbers, lectures, tomatoes, ham etc etc and only saw a few of them rinsing their hands under running water before serving next customer! I observed that they were not wearing catering gloves either during the sandwich preparation and seemed very relaxed about food hygiene. The space where you order your sandwiches is small (tiny) and while i was waiting for my turn, rather grumpy looking member of staff was stomping away without smile/hello or eye contact with anyone, not 100% sure what was her role as really did not see her doing much at all during busy lunch time however she clearly did not like customer service! Had a coffee which was ok, nothing great about it as have tasted much better quality coffees in other cafes in Stony. I am unable to say anything about sandwiches as decided to decline after observing how they were prepared by the staff. Unfortunately, this place is well past its sell by day, too small to cope with the customers and cant reach the same standards as other cafes in Stony Stratford. Very disappointing place.*This is my 3rd review about this small sandwich place in Stony Stratford as my previous ones has been reported by the staff (?) which I can fully understand its difficult to cope and hear about negative feed back. ' The right to write' applies to those as well and perhaps we all can learn from them rather that try to stop feedback to be published.

Took a friend here visiting from overseas, we waited 25 minutes for a tasteless sandwich (bog standard supermarket bread) and (microwaved) jacket potato! It was not a busy day as we went during the week. The tea came out with our food so by the time our scones arrived the tea was cold. The scones were not fresh and had been microwaved to make them warm. There were plate stands sitting along the floor, very unhygienic. The service was awful, the young waitresses were chatting about boys and how long until they could leave as well as hanging out the window looking at boys! We had to call them over several times as they didn't have the initiative to check on us throughout.... The fire alarm went off several times which startled us, no apologies or explanations given. Rubbish experience and not the treat we were expecting, will not be going back!

I visited the tea room with my 7 year old daughter one Saturday afternoon for a bite to eat. Despite the tea room being very busy, we were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly. My daughter is a fussy eater so I had a few requests when ordering, we ordered a children's meal for her and the staff were very accommodating with type of sandwich etc. My daughter was super pleased that her crisps came in a little bowl as it made her feel grown up! She also loved her milkshake. My clotted cream tea was delicious and fresh and it was no trouble to order a cappuccino instead of the usual tea/cafetière of coffee. The tea room is lovely and quaint and staff are polite and helpful. Will definitely visit again, especially as my daughter gave it the big thumbs up!

After reading such excellent reviews, my mother and I were looking forward to the afternoon tea that is £12.50 a head. Naturally, for £25 you would expect good service, fresh pastries and sandwiches, we got neither. When we arrived, we stood aimlessly waiting until someone bothered to serve us (can I just say it was not a busy day) and then were told to sit in the corner. We waited for 10 minutes until someone came over, then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes for a pot of tea. We then waited for another 10 minutes for our cake stands which I find amusing as the sandwiches were obviously prepared a day or so ago and the cakes were dried out. The scone was stale and tasteless, no amount of cream of jam made it taste better. One of the strawberry decoration around the stand had a slight bit of mould on it. I am disappointed because so many people had commented on its freshness, but that was not the only thing. We told the woman on the phone that we were vegetarian, after waiting so long (very hungry as we had missed breakfast) we were given ham and tuna sandwiches. We then pointed out we were vegetarian, they apologised and then handed us a new cake stand with tuna sandwiches. It seems they had just made up our stands from their leftovers and frankly for £25 that is a disappointment. Had better service at MacIntyres Cafe and it cost half the price. Unfortunately we will not be coming back.

I have been to Miss Havisham's Tearoom twice now and the service was excellent. The staff were very polite and very welcoming. I took a friend and we had a afternoon tea. The sandwiches were very fresh and there were different fillings in each triangle. The cakes were homemade and they were very tasty and light. I would recommend this Tea shop to my friends, family and who ever is reading these review. Thanks to the staff and whoever made the cakes for a lovely afternoon Tea.Carol

I made a point of dropping into this quaint little tearoom when I was in the area the other day. It's my third visit and it just gets better and better. A fabulous tearoom with lovely decor and pretty tablecloths on every table. As before, the staff were attentive and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The owner of the tearoom even came over to have a chat and make sure that everything was ok. And it wasn't just ok ..... I had a really delicious cranberry, brie and bacon toastie (at the recommendation of the staff), served with a very colourful and delicious sidesalad and coleslaw (no limp lettuce in this place!) as well as a proper pot of tea. Delicious! This place never fails to deliver and I shall certainly be back the next time I am over this way ... and I shall defintely leave room for some of the gorgeous homemade cakes on offer (including gluten free). Thank you once again Miss Havishams'.

Aceptable.

I come to this lovely place most Fridays and have lunch. I have a delicious cheese toastie, nice and crisp, just how I like it! I have a pot of leaf tea with a little strainer, a nice china cup and saucer and usually I am tempted to a slice of their scrummy cake. I cannot recommend Miss Havisham's highly enough. The staff are always cheerful and helpful, the tea room is charmingly pretty and the owner happy to accommodate any 'foodie' requests where possible. The 'Go To' place if you are in the area.

Having recently relocated to offices in Stony Stratford we ordered (at very short notice) a large round of bacon and sausage sarnies for our team. The bread was lovely and fresh (and they even catered for one of our staff who is gluten intolerant), and there was plenty of fillings in all the sandwiches. We also go to Miss H's for our lunches and their food is incredible. The staff are also lovely and welcoming.

I came here with my mum and daughter earlier on today and had the most lovely time! The tearoom is very quaint and pretty. The tea was served in a pink little teapot with mismatched crockery, delicious may I add. My daughter was served a kids meal and when it arrived they had taken the time to make a star out of her sandwhich! They have a wide selection of toasties and sandwiches which all look delicious! All the staff are dressed in old fashioned waitress uniform which gives it a touch class to the place. I will definitely be returning very soon

We went here for a coffee and sandwich today having eaten here several times before. We were very disappointed.Coffee was practically undrinkable (was refunded) roast beef sandwich cut in three no garnish and very dry asked for Diet Coke with ice to be told at 1pm they had run out of ice. Waitress came to clear table when we weren't finished!!!All round not a great experience.

My daughter arranged a surprise birthday party for me at this lovely tea room. Food was just perfect and nothing was too much trouble for them. As I was leaving they even gave me some flowers and a birthday card. And some doggy boxes to take leftover cakes home. My daughter could not have chosen a better venue.

Chance find whilst visiting Stony Stratford High Street. Situated in a pleasant off-street courtyard. A few tables outside, but these were full (mid-morning sunny Saturday!) so we went to the upstairs tea room. Nicely decorated, waitresses in old-fashioned garb, pleasant surroundings. We only had coffee and a scone, but these were fine. Only complaint was the slowness of the service, given that there were two waitresses on duty, and the place was not especially busy? Seemed curious that the food came from an upstairs dresser, whereas the waitress disappeared downstairs for about 10 minutes before the coffees arrived. Presumably the coffee machine is located there alongside the ice-cream serving machinery, but it really did seem to slow matters down disproportionately for what had been ordered. Also a mix-up with paying - we were charged for cream with the scones, which we had not had, so again it seemed a bit of a hassle with the young girl operating the till to sort out what we owed - I could work it out in my head, but there again I am middle aged........!!Otherwise a very pleasant place for mid-morning refreshments.

What a pleasure to chance upon this wonderful place, tucked down a narrow alley, as you approach the tea rooms it feels like you are walking through an alley from yesteryear. The place is not massive inside, we sat on a table upstairs and enjoyed wonderful service.Sandwiches were cut with precision and the fillings were generous. The scones were particularly exciting and the delicious cream and jam was a naughty treat.A nice cosy atmosphere, though perhaps not suitable for massive groups of people, but if you are a couple or a smaller family then you should have no problem fitting into this delightful tearoom. Something old-fashioned and charming about the experience that will provide a lasting memory.

Small with limited seating, this is a real find in Stony Stratford. I admit, I only went in because Costa was full, but I had a delicious pot of loose leaf tea and a yummy toasted tea cake, all in charming, relaxed surroundings. Won't even bother looking anywhere else next time I'm in town!

I came to Miss Havisham's tea room with my young niece and we both had a wonderful time in this quaint little tea room. The staff were extremely helpful, even bringing over a colouring book for my niece to keep her busy while we chose our food. There is a wide selection of both food and drink and it was hard to choose because it all sounded so delicious. The tea room was busy but the staff could not be more helpful and we were not rushed at all. Although the tea room is small, what it lacks in size is made up for in character and excellent old fashioned service. We both enjoyed our lunch and drinks and will definitely be returning in the near future. We would both highly recommend Miss Havisham's tea room.

I hosted a basketball watch party here and the staff were very accommodating. Will definitely use this venue again. Only issue was the live stream, WiFi cut out a few times during the game, but thank
