We expected a little village cafe with a welcoming smile and selection of cakes and savoury food. It is a lovely building on pleasant country site, however there was no interaction with the lady behind the counter, she didn’t look up at or talk with us once - despite our being the only customers at the time. Perhaps it was a bad day for her, but the sun was shining, the birds were singing and we felt as if we were just getting in the way and little more than an annoyance. An entirely disappointing service and we left having felt wholly unwelcome.

We dropped by for a coffee and cake, the cake was very dry and there were cakes in the shop that had butter icing which looked like it was melting. We were sat outside eating when 3 members of staff came out 2 of which were young girls and a adult who was giving them a good telling off in a not so nice manner in front us and other customers not very professional I wouldn’t go to that place again, felt sorry for the young girls being treated like this in front of us, they must of felt very embarrassed.

We were treated to a deluxe afternoon tea as a Christmas present - cannot recommend highly enough - everything was really fresh and tasty. Staff were very friendly and even gave us boxes to take away all of the goodies that we couldn't find room for on the day!

I went today for an afternoon tea with my partner . It was excellent with plenty of sandwiches , cheese scone crisps and pickles . Then a scone with clotted cream , chocolate brownie and a sponge . We asked for a box to take some away as we couldn’t manage it all . The staff are very welcoming, polite and give you a 5* service . The coffee shop is set in a beautiful location . I would highly recommend a visit .

Very small inside tiny little plastic chairs barely suitable for more than children, no halloumi no quiche left no milkshakes left! As we balance on our tiny plastic chairs and waited a huge wolfhound dog walked in and stood right by us staring at us for quite sometime had a good shake and left. The coleslaw was lovely everything else was basic the cake was dry as a bone. Overpriced for lunch. Unbeknown to us we all were bitten by bugs all over our legs huge red itchy lumps appeared and bothered us for days can only assume horse flies. Disappointing uncomfortable and overpriced.

Popped in as was passing and had heard about this place. Unfortunately I won’t go again the cake was not good it was so dry I couldn’t eat it. We sat outside and the garden bench was old and ripped my new trousers as it’s in a poor state. Overall not a good experience!!

2nd visit here while out riding and provides the perfect bike stop. Great service, food and drink came out quickly considering they where pretty busy. Great selection of sandwiches / wraps & jacket potatoes. Also plenty of cake and savoury snacks to choose from to. My only hang up was the bread for my sandwich was a little stale. Won’t stop me coming back as I’m sure it was a one off. However does stop me giving it a 5 star review. I will be back though!

What a fantastic cafe. Saw several good reviews online so decided to stop here on our way to a lodge holiday instead of a pub stop. So pleased we did. Easy to park. The service was excellent and the food was so yummy. A full plate of sandwiches with salad crisps and coleslaw and a lovely cup of coffee. We also gave into temptation with the fantastic cakes on offer.

A fabulous find for a stop during a cycle tour of Leicestershire. The coffee and cake were excellent and the service was superb, delivered to our outdoor table in the courtyard. As a special touch the staff kindly offered to fill our drinking bottles with water as we left, which was much appreciated as it was a hot day with temperatures of 30C. 🚴😋☺️

Although all owners of businesses wish to provide good service, to attract repeat customers, this coffee shop does not. Just look at the review chart below. My main criticism was the horrible noise the coffee machine(?) kept making, every time someone ordered a coffee. It actually stopped our conversation and my wife had to remove her hearing aid as the noise was excruciating! The cafe is quite basic, and yes, I would go again, but definitely not inside. I will wait until the summer, when I can sit outside. I think the owners ought to consider my comments very seriously.

Unfortunately there was no coffee available so we decided not to stay for food. This was due to be a pre-Christmas lunchtime treat for my Mum on my rare day off so it was disappointing to find that a venue advertised as a coffee house had no coffee. Unable to review food.. but it also felt quite chilly inside so we would have had to have kept coats on despite choosing a table next to radiator.

Used to visit here quite frequently and enjoyed the coffee and cakes, but haven't been for 18-24 months or so. I'm guessing that it's been taken over in the meantime as on today's visit the service was poor - gave our order in, paid and was given a numbered wooden spoon, so far so good. Then we waited, and waited, and watched as several people who had arrived after us were served their food and drink before us. Then we waited some more, until I went to enquire about our order, It appears that they had lost it or forgotten it - my enquiry started things moving and eventually we got our order. Wasn't a difficult one, two black Americanos and one cheese scone. The coffee was very mediocre, and the cheese scone was inedible as it appeared to have been only half-baked so was soggy and very unpleasant. And the crowning glory was the toilets, step back to the 1960s for these! Two adjoining cubicles, one male and one female; a communal hand washing area and one hand towel which was meant to serve for café patrons and business park workers. None of it Covid safe or even hygienic. Sorry "Mint & Ginger" we won't be back.

This was my first trip to Mint & Ginger and will definitely be returning.Annelie was on point from the beginning from booking us in by email for lunch. We were welcomed in. We were wearing masks and the staff were wearing shields..The premises were clean and the table was wiped down as we arrived. The menu was extensive from.paninis to salads jacket potatoes with lots of choice of fillings and choices.of meats vegetarian and vegan. We both chose the vegetarian quiche which had been warmed through which only enhanced what was already a delicious quiche. The service was friendly and cheerful. We also got to buy lots of cards. The choice was amazing. Some great bits in sale around. The cakes on display looked fabulous. The surroundings are beautiful but what makes this a great place are the staff and the food.Of course my pals company wasn't bad either!!!!

Having visited the cafe whilst going to the pop up shop within the manor. I was disappointed by the service during the time of COVID. First of all the pop up shop Rustic Kitchen - amazing, clean and friendly. Mint and Ginger - can’t same the same about you. I went to the table area where no member of staff could be seen, and sat down on some chairs on an empty table. I then order my food at the window latch they have in the courtyard, whilst there I see they have disposable cutlery and sauces which is a great idea, but all this stuff is right below where people would talk to order, so easily spit particles would reach there. I then saw another customer come and put back the disposable he didn’t use, so again something he has touched and placed back for everyone to use. Having ordered a round of coffees and breakfast we sat and waited. Whilst waiting I noticed a lady with a visor cleaning the table and chairs, I looked at our table which had stains and some crumbs. I kindly went up to the lady and asked if she could clean our table. This seemed like a bother. She then said it would have been cleaned, I explained it isn’t due to the stains. She then popped over clearly not happy and told me I should have waited to be seated and then it would have been cleaned and not just sat down. Again - how is a customer suppose to know this? When there is no staff member to greet them to tell them. They seem to have a massive a board near the seating area maybe they could put this message here. I really felt upset my experience; I struggle to go to places during this time and when you are made to feel like a nuisance because you’ve asked someone to clean a table it’s even worse. She then reluctantly cleaned the table with annoyance. She then asked me if I had completed my details on track and trace - again I said no, no one has asked me. I even placed an order so surely that was a good time to complete the task. She then walks off, and gets a book and a pen and asks me to fill it and walks off. I use the pen which others have used add my details and wait for my order. The book remained on the table outside for everyone and anyone to have access to names and numbers, no protection for personal details. It’s such a shame this coffee shop lacks customer service despite such a lovely location they have. I definitely will not be visiting again and I don’t recommend it if you want to feel safe during COVID and know the staff care about there customers

This review relates more to the Manor complex in general rather than only the cafe. This is the third visit my wife and I have made to one of the businesses on the complex, but the first time we have used 'Mint and Ginger'. The coffee is first class, the scone is best not spoken of.Look out where you are putting your feet, there were four dogs running loose on this visit (there are always some) and whilst I appreciate that some dogs are very intelligent I have yet to find one that can scoop it's own poop, so watch out. There was some in the courtyard around the cafe area and one large dog standing by a table begging with it's head at table height. It is up to you to decide if you want a Scottish Deer Hound standing next to yourt table ot not.Toilets - don't even think about it - there is only one. Not clean, toilet paper on the floor, no soap, an industrial roll of paper towel on the floor. If you are unfortunate to have to use a disabled toilet you have got no chance.

Used a groupon voucher given as a gift. The platter of food looked good and tasted quite nice but would not have been worth the full price. Groupon price of around £19 for 2 was just about right. That said, we enjoyed the homemade scones and cakes. Salad and crisp portion was tiny though.

Had lunch at Mint and Ginger last week. Firstly the car parking arrangements are confusing... there are several business on the site also with allocated parking. The place itself is okay. However, the food along with tea and coffee, I would rank as average. Nothing to write home about.Overall, quite expensive for what you get.

We booked online with a Groupon voucher, I felt like the server has had enough of afternoon teas although the service was quick and friendly. The sandwiches were ok, as was the mini quiche and cheese scones. The cake selection wasn’t the best considering the cakes they had on display, although I have to say the brownie was delicious. I wouldn’t have been happy had i placed the full price for the afternoon tea...There was a terrible smell of old oil, oil that’s been used over and over again and we were at the back of the tea room...I have had better for less.

Booked through Grupon, the afternoon Tea was excellent the choice of different sandwiches was good, and was worth the discounted price of £20 for two,The full price would have been expensive for the afternoonTea.The only downside the room was not big enough and we was next to the door which was drafty when people and children kept entering. There was a 25 minute delay in bring out the cakes and scones which we had to ask for as they seemed to have forgot. In all a Good afternoon Tea.

We booked an afternoon tea though groupon and booked the time online. When we arrived we were told they had no record of us and said we should have phoned to book. We pointed out that nowhere does it mention this. They did fit us in and we had to wait while they made our food. The afternoon tea was lovely and plentiful, lots of sandwiches, scones, cakes etc Unfortunately the day we were there there were a lot of wasps in the cafe which spoilt our enjoyment somewhat.

Having booked a luxury cream tea, we were so disappointed with the offering we were given. Very boring bland sandwiches sausages rolls were heated in the microwave and were vile and the cake was awful the scones were old and dry. Quite a disappointing affair, with the sandwiches very basic, soggy sausage rolls, and poor selection of cakes. Surprising as the selection of cake for general sale looked very good. At £15:00 per head you would expect better quality food. The service was ok and staff were very nice, but the food let it down on every level.

Arriving to find two other people in the cafe at 12.40 we ordered 4 toasted sandwiches and paid at the till. Wish we hadn't as we would have left as we didn't realise it would be nearly one hour until our food arrived at our table with "sorry for the wait" being said! There was one person in the small kitchen but 4 sandwiches is hardly rocket science! I nearly went in to help prepare the food as it took so long. Definitely won't bother again.

Six of us had a "just what we wanted" light lunch at this small, characterful cafe, tucked into one of Market Harborough's historic "yards". Two had the excellent tomato and basil soup, served with a ciabatta roll; two had a delicious ciabatta roll (one gluten free) with cream cheese, figs with a touch of honey and pistachio nuts; one had a bacon-filled ciabatta roll and one had a fruit scone. We all enjoyed our lunch, and the two staff were very helpful. We thought we had made a very good choice out of the numerous options in the town and would definitely go again.

Called in today for our first visit. Received a warm welcome from staff members and were able to be seated as although it was busy lots of people had chosen to sit outdoors. Chose a carvery and we weren't disappointed, choice of 3 meats all cooked beautifully, nice choice of fresh vegetables. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and you weren't bombarded by staff as soon as you started eating asking if it was alright. We were approached but had at least had a chance to have eaten some of the meal! Will definitely be returning here again.

Many of my friends have raved about this restaurant and we had never been. So after realising it was closing, we just had to book. It was not what we expected - bright lights and bare tables. Not our thing. The arrival greeting was ok but not special and no explanation or interest in us as 1st timers. The food was good and very tasty but it was expected at the price. The wine choice was a different matter. We order one red and one white, not cheap. The white wine arrived by a very young waiter who poured the wine with no option to taste and it was NOT cold. Unbelievable! When asked why it was not cold he said there was ice in the ice bucket. Not a good start to the meal, The waitress leaned over me every time to serve my friend and they didn’t offer new cutlery for each course. Maybe they have lost interest now it’s closing, very sad as we had heard such excellent reviews.
