Went for a light lunch. The service was friendly enough, but everything else was pretty poor: the 'garden' where we sat was a small, not very lovely courtyard with plastic greenery; our drinks, cutlery etc. were forgotten; lettuce had not been washed/properly and had earth on it - no one likes a gritty sandwich. Pull your socks up Minster Cafe!

This is more of a thank you than a review! I was in Lichfield today due to work and wanted to grab a sandwich to get me through the day. It was around 8:15 on a Sunday morning when on going to walk in the door was locked,a lovely lady opened the door and said they wasn’t open till 9am I asked if there was anywhere open I could get something to eat…… her response was amazing she welcomed me in the cafe asked me what I wanted and got the chef to fire up the grill and make me some breakfast! Not only did they go out there way to make me some food they open before they was due and chatted with me while I waited and the sandwich was beautiful!!!!! THANK YOU.

This was an extremely overpriced coffee shop that is not very nice inside. I had a jacket potato with Coronation chicken. For the price I expected a beautiful meal but the potato was under cooked and not very hot and the small amount of coronation chicken had tough lumps of overcooked chicken in it. My wife’s teacup was also dirty...Very disappointing.

Ordered a jacket potato with coronation chicken. Said on the menu it was oven baked and came with coleslaw. After I had paid a girl came to say they didn't have the coronation chicken. I asked for cheese and beans instead. Despite this being cheaper they didn't offer me the difference back. When it came it was definitely microwaved not oven baked. It was hard and unappetizing. There wasn't any coleslaw either I left most of it.Not impressed and won't go back.

We popped in here early today for a breakfast and hot drinks and were not disappointed. Very pleasant and efficient service, everything was freshly cooked and tasty, the coffee was fine too and came with a gingery biscuit. The price was fair for the size of the serving and I was pleased to see the 5* hygiene rating. Downstairs is small but there is seating upstairs for those who can access the stairs. Unfortunately, the toilets are upstairs too. Not much you can do about these old quirky buildings, it’s part of their charm.

As it was a rainy day in Lichfield, we were looking for a nice place to eat and came across this little gem of a cafe which is also dog friendly. On reading the menu, we opted on Sunday Lunch and decided that we'd have the regular portion. What a tasty lunch it was too. 2 teas and toast for £8. Expected at least home made Jam and bread that wasn’t out of a Tesco packet for that price. Toast served already saturated in butter (here’s an idea, let people butter their own toast to their taste) with a couple of plastic sachets of jam. If this was half the price fair enough, but for £8 this is positioned up there with 200° coffee shops. Terrible value and product.

I visited this cafe today with my two grandchildren, having left other cafes due stayed long wait for food. I asked before ordering how long the wait would be and was told not long. After 25 mins I asked what was happening as children were really hungry by now. The one lady said a wait of 25 mins was not unreasonable for preparation for fresh food, this was not the point. I had not been told about wait and seeing as ordered prawn sandwich, bacon sandwich, cheese toastie and a children's sausage and chips I don't think they should take that long! The prawn sandwich when it did come was on thick white bread, doorstop fashion, not what you'd expect. The toastie was not great and the sausages were not of a good quality in my view. Seating is not very comfortable. I would not go back.

I like Lichfield. But on a recent visit was surprised how few places there were to eat that were dog friendly. I appreciate not everyone likes dogs in eating places but when you are on holiday with a hound, you do need somewhere to refuel. Being a wet day we couldn't sit outside anywhere. So hats off to Minster for being dog friendly. They have a small room upstairs specifically for furry friends. It's a simple cafe, well located. Staff were friendly. Food was simple but we had a good sandwich and a cuppa. Prices were reasonable.

We stopped here for a snack on a sunny Sunday afternoon and sat in the garden at the rear. We were handed the menu after a while and ordered drinks and food. After a lengthy wait I went to ask for the drinks as they had not arrived. The young lady did offer me a glass of water, which I appreciated and accepted. She then poured the pepsi from a large plastic bottle into a glass as she did with the Corona. The pepsi was wet but rather warm, served without ice! After what seemed an age our baguettes arrived only to find that the tuna mayo had butter on ,despite my order requesting it to be without butter. I tool this back and they apologised for the error. On returning to my seat I was made aware of the other order placed was in fact on a brown baguette rather a white one as requested. My fellow diner did not wish to make a fuss and ate it rather than complain. Obviously I then had to wait yet again for my replacement baguette. To sum up our visut it was rather disappointing.

I visited the coffee shop on a Sunday afternoon for a small bite to eat with my partner and I ordered a ham and cheese toastie which came with some chips and salad, the food didn't take too long to come which I was impressed with as I saw that there was a young chef making the food. However when my food did arrive the cheese felt rubbery with little flavour and the some of the chips were un-cooked and looked shop bought, I would have much preferred home made. The lady who served me seemed distracted and was abrupt with the young waitress making drinks beside her, this made me feel slightly uncomfortable and empathetic for the young girl. In the end we quickly finished our food and left as we felt we were being watched whilst we ate. We won't be returning here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, there are much better places to eat in Lichfield with more reasonable prices and with nicer atmospheres.

We popped in here after a bit of early morning shopping in Lichfield. We ordered 2 x standard breakfast plus a hash brown on one, plus tea, and beans on toast and black currant squash for a child. This confused the person taking the order, who advised us that they don't do a childrens menu but would do the 1 slice of beans on toast but only if we paid for an adults portion. We were charged £19.50, which we queried because 2 x standard breakfasts & tea was advertised outside for £10.50, which meant that the 1 hash brown, 1 x slice of beans on toast and a blackcurrant squash was costing us £9.00 - rip off. We were told that the addition of the hash brown made it a non standard breakfast and therefore we didn't qualify for the breakfast offer. Although not happy, we decided that the children (4years & 10 months) needed feeding and we stayed.Ok- onto the breakfast. I had to send mine back as the yolk of the egg wasn't cooked (all they did is flip it over in a pan), bacon was ok, poor sausage, tomato wasn't cooked through, beans had obviously been standing, and the hash brown which caused all this was overcooked. Mushrooms were fine though......No nappy changing facilities - had to change the baby on the toilet floor. One to avoid

I was back in Lichfield at the weekend so had to pop back to my favourite little coffee shop – The Minster in Dam Street - it’s always a nice place to stop when enjoying a mooch around. Along with more traditional coffee shop/tea room fare the venue also offers a range of substantial meals any restaurant would be proud of.Today, the chef had made a vegetarian pasta bake – it was on the Specials Board so I decided to have some for my lunch. It was delicious! Loaded with onions, peppers and mushrooms in a tomato and herb sauce and topped with melted cheese. Accompanied with a side salad the dish was very tasty. As it was a lovely hot day I sat out in the little garden out back to enjoy the peace and the quiet, soak up some rays of sun, make a little vitamin D and relax. As usual the staff were in high spirits, friendly and attentive. I thought about poor chef toiling in the hot kitchen producing meals as lovely as the one before me now. So I will take this opportunity to say thank you for such an excellent meal and I know I’ll be back for more goodies soon x

Then we ordered a turkey, brie and cranberry toasted sandwich - how could that go wrong?! The turkey was dry, the brie was only the rind of the cheese, and as for the toasted bread - who in this world cannot toast bread. The only good thing was the few chips that came with the sandwich. Needless to say we did not eat them. And promptly left. Never again. What's going on Minster Coffee Shop, how can you get a toasted sandwich so wrong?

During our second visit here we sat in the lovely garden and had an excellent pot of tea. Have not tried the food, but this appears to be fine but basic.

Although I eat in Lichfield regularly, I had never ventured into here unless this week. I was with a friend and all we were looking for was a light lunch, a drink and a sit down. We saw on the board outside that they had a spicy parsnip soup on and that pulled us in. This would be served with some crusty bread but we declined the bread as neither of us eat it. The soup was delicious and I hope its something that features regularly, as we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for it in future. Our cold drink we had with lunch was nicely chilled on a warmish day, The coffee we later had was possible the only disappointment, although we couldn't be certain, we thought it was instant. Though it did come with a ginger biscuit which was appreciated.

We ordered jacket potatoes with veg curry filling. The veg curry was icy cold. There was no apology. The meal was uneatable. My money was grudgingly returned. Staff off hand. Not a pleasant experience. Other diners seemed to do better. Maybe there is little demand for the veg options.

We went for Breakfast - special offer which was 2 for £10 with a drink (tea / coffee). This was let down by the poor quality of the ingredients used - cheap sausages, thin low cost bread, cheap beans, no HP Sauce etc.. Even with the offer the price was not cheap and puts it in the same sort of price range as Dam Fine Cafe or Poms. Either lower your price or put the quality up. Live locally but would not return.

What a find for a breakfast treat!A delicious bacon and mushroom sandwich for me and a full breakfast for my husband. The sausage seemed fairly standard, the bacon was however excellent! The coffee was served more like a latte, which was odd, but not unpleasant.Be warned, they do not take cards, which I found odd, but a quick trip to the cashpoint fixed that! The cutlery could do with an upgrade, a little worn out and tatty looking.Good value breakfast, in good, old fashioned surroundings. Definitely worth a try for your breakfast.

Home Coooked style of food, well served and good value. Good range of items on the menu. Stairs can be a bit tricky to the upper floors and as with ALL old places the floors are uneven in places. Enjoyed our visit and would be pleased to go back.

Nice little tea rooms with a good little outdoors area for the warmer months. I have been here many times since I moved to Lichfield 7 years ago - rarely disappointed here - all I would say is the prices are gradually creeping up and it doesn't represent such great value for money any longer - that being said it's still nice to visit and the staff are very friendly (better than the previous owners!) :)

Visited this tea room for the first time today and sat in the garden. My friend and I had a big pot of good tea and sandwiches served with home made chips and garnish. Everything was fresh and nicely presented and we were impressed with the friendly service. We shall certainly be returning to the Minster next time we are in Lichfield.

We went to Lichfield on Saturday 5th July not realising that it was a main event. Lichfield very busy with cars in the park, cathedral stalls etc., Leading up to the Cathedral in Dam Street we came across minster coffee shop. Had a lovely lunch and glass of wine. The place was very busy and was informed that a table would be free in about 5 mins so we waited, very glad we did.Food lovely and fresh and even though the staff was rushed off their feet service nothing was too much trouble. The lady who served us informed us that every year Lichfield has this event and it is well worth coming too. We don't come to Lichfield often but when we next visit we will definitely come back.

Visited Lichfield with 3 friends had Minsters afternoon tea. As it was a warm day went in the garden at the back. The afternoon tea came on 2 x tiers of stands filled with different sandwiches, cakes and lovely scones with cream and jam - very nice. It was a Saturday and busy, the staff very helpful and we will all visit again

What did we find poor?We came with a buggy which they made no effort to hide the fact they found it irritating and wanted it out of the way. There's no children's portions, although there is a small selection of children's meals. As such our toddler wanted an omelette and we were forced to pay full price for an adult one. The adult portion should have come with chips and side, but it didn't, yes we didn't need it, but we'd paid for it .My wife's "toastie" was semi-toasted bread around cold tuna and cheese. The chips that the menu bangs on about you could count on one hand. The younger staff member and the lady, who I assumed owned the place were particularly uninviting. We felt like we were a hindrance because of our child. The food was below average and over priced and the atmosphere non existent.I'm not sure whether she thought we were tourists, either way it should have been better. We live in Lichfield and shall not be returning.
