Minnow in Lambeth

Laughably bad service. We had to ask the waiter to take every order, who whilst polite & positive, was then outdone by his colleague, who chose to slam every plate / drink on our table, often not in front of the recipient - he really should consider a non-customer service career, in my humble opinion. Additionally this was the worst value restaurant I've had the displeasure of visiting - the Chicken Schnitzel at c. £19 with no sides, and the bottle of acidic wine at £36 being the highlights for this award. Such a shame, for what is a very cute venue, that has so much potential.

Unbelievably disappointed. They allowed a dog to sit and eat from cutlery and plates that they washed reserve to customers. YUCK

I stopped for a laidback brunch during a dog walk. Staff were friendly throughout but the food itself was overpriced and poor quality. I ordered Eggs Benedict with GF toast for £13, so was expecting top quality. Instead I got some soggy poached eggs and soggy spinach on burnt bread. No hollandaise sauce in sight. I returned the meal requesting hollandaise sauce and it came back with sauce added but stone cold. I returned it again and received a fresh set of eggs and spinach with hollandaise sauce, but on untoasted, soggy bread. Friendly staff and good location, but terrible, over-priced food.

Really cute place which was buzzing when we went for brunch on a Saturday. I had emailed in advance about gluten free options and had a lovely email back which was reassuring. Had a delicious brunch and great cocktail and the staff were really friendly and attentive. Going to try for dinner next.

I go to this restaurant all the time. It’s close to where I live. It’s a lovely friendly place with excellent food, delicious coffee and some gorgeous cocktails. The eggs that they use for a lot of brunch dishes are so good I had to ask where to buy them for my home! It’s family owned and the.couple who run it are always around. So friendly. The manager James and his lovely staff are always smiling and ready to make you feel like a valued customer.

Good food unboring and well-served. Experience somewhat spoilt by noisy unprofessional barman who made a lot of racket, had grubby jeans, swigged out of a bottle, slammed cupboards, generally mannerless. I was with a professional restaurateur from France who was shocked.

Booked for 14 people for work Christmas meal, off the normal menu. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Good service, nice atmosphere in the restaurant and easy to book through Chris ahead of time. I had the Cod main and Spinach side - Could not fault it. Would recommend and revisit in the future.

Solid food, lovely cocktails and a great ambience. It's on the common and does Sunday roasts, and has a nice French vibe.

Minnow has been one of my favourite spots for spirited, good value dining since I first visited over 5 years ago. I thought it was worth reviewing again after my latest visit, which was a classy experience at modest prices. After a friendly welcome and drink on the terrace out front, we went in to be treated by an absolute feast. My starter was the delicious mushroom and perfectly poached egg on focaccia, and then I went for the juicy and generous schnitzel, with delicious caper and garlic butter sauce. The charred lemon was a nice touch. Around this, we went big on the sides and weren't disappointed - the dauphinoise and red cabbage were particularly popular. It really was a fab feast at prices uncommon for Clapham, and the place and staff remain charming... the only disappointment was not having room for desert!

We recently had a lovely meal at Minnow. Great quality food and friendly service made for a pleasant afternoon. I had the Veg Minnow and my husband opted for the French Toast. It is my favorite spot in the area for brunch.

The food was OK, not an experience. The lady serving outside never took note of the orders and therefore they got it wrong for the man in course and the dessert never arrived. Long wait for a mediocre experience

Friendly service, simple yet tasty food, great location. Third time visiting, always get the sandwich deal of the day that comes with parmesan fries. The BLT (8/10) and roast beef sandwich (6.5/10) of the day have been tasty, BLT best. Good price at £10 given location. Hot chocolate nothing special.

Attractive and cosy venue - busy and buzzing bordering on noisy as full of animated folk with loud voices. Tasty menu - bit on the pricey side - good range of cocktails. Food was fine but let down by the less than attentive service despite the abundance of young 'hipster' waiting staff who were chatting together. After the initial warm welcome and menu presentation by guy with dirty fingernails(!) lacklustre attention thereafter - no-one came and asked if we wanted more drinks - our water jug wasn't refilled -we had to make effort to get the bill.....didn't really earn the service charge added to the bill. My friend and I were underwhelmed.

Visited this restaurant today on Father's Day and it was a letdown. We felt forgotten as we had to ask about our food after an hour of waiting. When it finally arrived within minutes of asking, everything was cold and dry, including the baked beans which had hardly any sauce. The halloumi was overcooked, prompting us to request its removal from the bill. Overall, a disappointing visit. Won't return or recommend.

Tucked away in Clapham Old Town is this absolute gem of restaurant, Minnow. It’s family owned, the food is incredible and caters for all diets and the staff go over above! We tried the croquettes, vegetable tempura, olives, bread, cod, quinoa salad, potato dauphinois (WOW!!) and broccoli side. I’d go to this place time and again, the menu is seasonal and is often refreshed and the drinks are amazing. In short, go to Minnow!

Was really looking forward to visiting minnow again after a wonderful experience around a year ago however, was very disappointed with our visit! Not sure what has happened! We went for the Sunday roast and two out of four of the roasts came out cold and not just cold, ice cold!!
