Pleasantly surprised at the wonderful selection the waitress helped us choose, who was really friendly and informative. This was very different too what you might normally expect in an Indian restaurant. The chef helped the waitress bring the dishes over. So fresh and flavoursome, quite exciting. The cocktail I chose was also deliciously unusual. The whole experience was very memorable.

What a way to enjoy what must be the most authentic Northern Indian food this end of Cornwall. The variety of dishes on the Thali plate was a joy to experience. We both felt that the quantities were just right - there was nothing that felt oily or greasy. The chicken byriani was full of flavour and with a rich yogurt dressing. A meal for 2 with drinks and under £60. Well done. Service was just right with no hovering, but a good explanation of the dishes we had ordered.

This was a perfect venue for my birthday treat. We decided to try the set feast meal & really enjoyed it. Spicy but not too hot. A bit different to the usual Indian eating experience as you choose the protein part of your meal & that is served with a variety of accompanying small dishes. All served at the same time on a large wooden board. Drinks were reasonably priced. Decor is lovely with plenty of space between the tables. The restaurant manager served us & was genuinely interested to know if we'd enjoyed the food experience he was offering. We will definitely visit again.

A fusion of many different tastes - think Indian tapas. All very tasty, cooked to perfection. There were 3 set menu options - we enjoyed the Royal Feast. I would recommend this.

This was my second time here. Once with friends to catch up, had a great time and wanted to go back and show the misses. It did not fail to impress. Balbeer and his staff are always welcoming, attentive and provided a relaxed atmosphere.....and the food, wow! Get the Royal feast!! Not experienced a meal like it. Situated on the historic and charming chapel street, this place is lovely to see in our growing town.

The venue is light, open and attractive, maybe once a double-fronted emporium on one of old Penzance's main streets. The host is friendly and engaging. The food offering is truly different: a selection of menus for large, small and vegetarian-vegan meals, each including small side dishes, sauces and breads, with choices of different pulses and proteins. The dishes themselves are aromatically rather than fiercely spiced. Finally the wine list is small but intelligently selected and reasonably priced. Outstanding.

I went there 2 times last week. I really enjoyed all food specially Gol-Gappe, Delhi chat and vegi fest. My son and daughter enjoyed Badam Halwa and they're made all food with pure desi ghee.Staff was very polite and understanding. Service was also good, I really appreciate because I went lots restaurant in cornwall but no one maintained indian taste in there food.

It’s a fixed menu at £18.95 pp. What you get is good quality but frankly I’d prefer a basic Indian for much cheaper. The 2 of us spent £66 on a curry basically- just too expensive. Also watch for the service charge put on the bill.

I have tried this new place twice now and have mixed feelings. On the plus side, the restaurant is very nicely decorated and when busy has a great atmosphere. The biggest drawback for me is the lack of clarity on the menu. It is a thali restaurant and you have an unclear choice of three different sized and priced menus. You pick one or two "main courses" that go with the thali. All of the food arrives at the same time and was far less food than what we were expecting, with most of the named side dishes being very, very small little ramekins. I do know what a thali is and have spent time in India but for a shared thali plate that is £48.00 for two people (the most expensive of the three thalis) you don't get very much. There was just not a lot of protein on the plates. You get dal and nice naan bread, potatos and chickpeas, but the main courses were sadly really disappointing and cheap looking. I really don't want to have to fill up on carbohydrates! Our fish dish was tiny and dry and tasted a bit unpleasant. The prawn dish was just about okay but was only four or five over-cooked and dry prawns lost on the thali plate. The Mutton Biriani was probably the best of the dishes but was nowhere near as nice as the first time I visited. The Matter Paneer was small and unremarkable. The chicken breast dish we ordered arrived with legs instead of breasts and was also poor. The bottled beers are small and over priced. The place looks great and for what they are charging, you just expect a lot more money to be spent on the ingredients. The cost price of the food must be next to nothing. I hope they re-jig the format as it has potential to be so much better. Either drastically lower the prices or give a lot better value or better still, both! I am sad to have to write such an unenthusiastic review as I was so excited by the look of the place and the interesting looking menu. It just didn't deliver.

Very nice place. Food was good and reasonably priced but wasn't quite enough. No rice and small portion of'protein'. Lot of bread. Also on reckoning up after wards we seem to have been overcharged by around £14. Nice but a bit disappointing.

Tried out a few days ago. Bit of a strange menu but the food was tasty and excellent. Had set menu at £18 pp. Nice atmosphere on a Friday night. No bad points really but could have done with 2 small pieces of chicken rather than 1. Half a lager at £6 a bit much. All in all great and would go again.

We live local and this site has hosted a variety of restaurants over the years with mixed success. This is definitely one of the better incarnations. Not a traditional menu format, featuring individual mini banquets of variable size depending on your appetite. Some standard elements in each one but with options too. This means you get to sample dishes you may not normally try but this is no problem as they have some fantastic flavours. For example, one of the appetisers are filled open-topped small pastry balls into which you pour a cold spiced water into just before eating. Sounds weird but was really lovely and definitely to be tried. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent. Lovely food. Lovely service. It's not your normal Indian restaurant. I would say more an authentic experience. If I had a criticism it would be the much mentioned tissues in the otherwise perfect toilet. A paper towel would be more effective.

We did book as we were told it get's busy. The reason for that is because the whole experience is great. From the time you walk in until the time you walk out is a joy. The waiters are friendly, and eager to please, the food is amazing with quick service too. I did think the service would be slow with people walking in for takeaways, but I didn't have to worry. I will be back in March. Thank you.

Pop in without a reservation. It was busy and a Saturday night. But they found us a table after a short wait. Very friendly family run restaurant. Good service and the food was excellent. All served hot. They don't serve alcohol, but you can take your own with no extra charge. Good curries and lots of spicy and flavour. Would recommend 5*

Fantastic meal, excellent service and very personable staff. The best curry in Cornwall. Well worth a visit and regardless of what you pick you will not be disappointed. Tender meat, beautifully spiced curry and served by staff that are great to chat with. Highly recommend a visit and you'll be warmly greeted by Mansell and his team.
