Been having mings court Chellaston deliver to us for over 10 years and alway pleased with the food.. But on this occasion rice was cold and chicken and beef very luke warm.. I contacted mings court who offered 10 pound discount nxt time but I can assure you there won't be a next time

Closed for 30 days summer holiday We obviously give them to much money that they can close for a whole month

After reading the reviews was dubious but was a nice meal the chicken fried rice with garlic was very nice the chicken balls not fatty chilli chicken wings reasonable. Was ready when I arrived what more can you ask from a takeaway

Not the greatest to say the least, from point of ordering to collection. On ordering the food over the phone there was a lot of background noise from the kitchen, and the girl taking the order was rude and short, demanding cash payment. On collection I saw that the order was incorrect and on pointing this out I had a struggle getting reimbursement, the assumption having been made by the proprietor that the communication errors were my fault and couldn't possibly have been theirs. Eventually I asked for my money back and received it but it was not easy, the proprietor saying that since the incorrect order had been cooked that I should pay for it. I explained that the call had been very interrupted by noise and that the girl taking the order had misunderstood me when I gave the order, and reluctantly I eventually was reimbursed. Not a good experience. The food was decent but the girl taking orders was clearly overwhelmed by the pressure of demand, background noise, and sheer weight of customers. This probably contributed to her abrupt manner but really this merely explains rather than excuses the overall customer service which was not good at all.

Two-hour wait – and not the first time! Food was okay, not spectacular. The food is okay, not the best, not the worst. But twice now we have had an excessively long wait for delivery (over two hours). The young woman phone told as the point of ordering that it would take about an hour. We phoned when an hour had passed, and she told us it would be another twenty minutes – no apology given. We phoned a second time an hour and a half after ordering, and finally got an apology from what must be the least customer-friendly young women in the world. and update that it would take another forty minutes (totalling a two-hour wait). We rang a third time after having waited two hours and ten minutes to cancel the order and book a Dominos instead - but were told it could not be cancelled because it was out for delivery! It finally arrived two hours and fifteen minutes after ordering, with a young child then very upset, hungry, and up later that ought to have been. Worse still, it was one of the kitchen staff with the red polo shirt that delivered it - not a delivery driver. Their excuse was that they had been ‘exceptionally busy’, but this has happened to us twice now at the same restaurant, and numerous times to other people. The root cause of their long wait seems (I am speculating) to be understaffing, a little like their management-led practice of only taking cash payment until the end of the financial year - when magically the card machine suddenly starts to work. Apparently that latter is a wi-fi issue and nothing to do with tax avoidance. In any case, the seem excessively profit-driven, which raises questions over the quality of the ingredients they might use. As alternatives, China Garden (also in Chellaston) is comparable in quality and they even do the cash-only thing as well (except in March obvs.) – must be a whole outcode area with wi-fi issues! There are also several Chinese restaurants in Allenton and Alvaston that deliver to Chellaston and Boulton Moor area – Imperial Dragon in Alvaston for example, are a seven-minute drive from Ming’s Court on Google Maps and are able to deliver better quality food far faster. On a very quiet midweek night, Ming’s Court might be good a option, but at the weekend or on holidays I would just avoid the place, they simply don’t have the capacity. The food is okay – it’s not spectacular, but we had nothing to complain about; it arrived warm, tasted okay, and was really just a fairly bog-standard standard ordinary Chinese restaurant meal. The reception staff (the two young women) really have no understanding of how to speak to people or basic customer service. The delivery/kitchen staff seem nice enough and take pride in their work. But the management/owners just seem to be overly greedy. The restaurant is clearly understaffed on a regular basis, which will obviously lead to more negative comments like this at the detriment of their business. All it will take is for a few competitors in Allenton or Alvaston to do a postal flyer drop, and other than passing trade (Ming’s Court does have a good location) they will most like see a massive dip in sales. Just plain greed, which is sad to see. Hire more staff and treat them fairly – it’s not hard to do.

Super busy takeaway. Deliver for a long distance covering a wide area

Service was 10 out of 10 But the food was not it!! No flavour at all! The food came quick but it was like warm, the crispy shredded chicken was soggy and flavourless, chicken chow mein was bland! The sweet and sour sauce may aswell of been a pot of vinegar absolutely vile! Waste of money definitely will not be ordering again! Such a shame!

Very good food. Everything well prepared. The only con is that you can only pay in cash.

*Avoid* - My sister who is heavily pregnant was craving for a Chinese so we decided to order in. She has a nut allergy so we made it very clear when placing the order. They confirmed that will be fine. Food arrived and within 5 minutes of having the veg curry, she had a reaction. She was vomiting/feeling really unwell. I am just so disappointed that establishments don't take extra precautions when dealing with allergies. When challenging the owner, they repeatedly advised no nuts were in the dishes! Horrible experience and I will be contacting Derby City Countil/Food Standards Authority.

This is our local choice for Chinese take away, in chellaston always fast and friendly, food always hot and fresh, thank you.

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered last night 21st October for 4 people. I was told 1.25 - 1.50 hours which whilst disappointing was acceptable so ordered the food. It hadn't arrived on the 2 hour mark so I rang and was told it had left the premises, it turned up after another 20 minutes and was luke-warm bordering on cold although tasty. I appreciate there were issues with flooding and road closures but our guests had arrived from further afield with no issues. This was my second delivery of food from this establishment, the previous one in July and I was very impressed with the flavours and quality, I don't have takeaway very often but I won't be ordering again as food needs to be hot and not zapped again in the microwave. Sorry this review isn't great but I have to be truthful and I was very disappointed and embarrassed.

I don't like leaving reviews for family run businesses that aren't completely positive - this is my 2nd try of this places food after a disappointing first try.. just paid £11.30 for a 3in1 (chips/rice/curry sauce) + salt and pepper chicken wings. Instead of wings I received regular chicken pieces which I can get over.. whenever I've had bad experiences with Chinese takeaways before, usually it's because it's extremely salty, I appreciate 'salt and pepper blah blah' you get what you asked for. But the 2 times I ordered from this place is the opposite, abosultely zero flavour, minimal salt and no other noticeable seasonings, very bland. Even the curry sauce which I imagine comes from a bulk bought powder form is somehow tasteless. There was visually multiple chefs working hard in the kitchen when I collected - maybe the 2 times I ordered I got an inexperienced cook? Hoping that's the case if I ever order again.

I ordered Roast Duck Fried Rice (102), collected at the shop. Good taste and reasonable price nowadays everything has increased. Friendly staff. They are Malaysia Chinese,so I will try their Malaysian dishes and Thai Dishes next time. I would recommend.

For a Chinese takeaway, I believe the price and quality are excellent. Moreover, they are always considerate enough to inform customers if the delivery might take longer than usual.

Very fast serice and nice employee. Decided to go for a takeaway to celebrate my husband's birthday. Delicious food from chowmian/fried rice ...to sweet and sour chicken balls. Generous portions and the meat were succulant. The whole family loved it... we will be coming back again for sure!!

Really good takeaway, not the cheapest around, but am a regular for a reason, never had a bad meal and they always are happy to change the odd ingredient or make things spicier etc.

We go here usually every weekend. I'm vegan and they make sure my food is suitable and it's never any trouble for them. Lovely staff. Very helpful. 🙂 Edit 12/3/22: Knocking off stars, as tonight we ordered and I found a piece of meat in my order. Very upset and disappointed.

Had Steak and chips with black pepper sauce,steak was hard and tasteless,chips were like rubber? Black pepper sauce was lumpy and vile!!! Mountain of peas? And no fried onion??? Poor value at £12.50,whoever likes this standard needs to get out more! More like Mings c¥₩t

Salt and pepper chilli chips felt like they was cooked yesterday and soggy, I asked the person taking my order to put holes in the box to prevent the steam making the chips soggy, this request was completely ignored, my chilli shredded beef was not fresh and did not taste good at all, I'm pretty sure I'm never going to be ordering there again, i appreciate they may be busy on a Saturday, but that's no excuse for giving me yesterday's food re heated. I feel I wasted my money and I won't be ordering again

** BE CAREFUL ** I keep seeing mice running behind the kitchen of Mings court. I’ve witnessed it 3 times now and informed the owners yet nothing is being done about it. They’ve dismissed the matter like it’s nothing! Yet they’re fully aware of it! No consideration for customer just concerned about their pockets! I’ve stopped using Mings after I found out they re heat & serve left over food from the night before on the following day! *AVOID*

Ordered 2 special chow meins and got 1 special fried rice. When phoned up to complain they were not interested. Food was cold and not that appetizing. Won't order again. Discusting. Doesn't even deserve 1 star!!

Thanks to the new Maps 'search this area'station stop! A convenient and delicious stop on our wayback to London - way better than a service station. Really accommodation too - I asked for some tofu which isn't on the menu but it was no trouble adding it to my mushroom chow mein. Very generous portions!

Delivery was ok told 45 mins but arrived in 30 thought this is good But when I had my meal of special curry there was more rice than curry sauce which made it very dry to top it all the meat was like a slab of meat not nice slices and chewy well ? will I go again a big fat no

This place is a disgrace! We had chinese there and next morning I had tummy ache! I’m never going there again because of what you did. Whoever cooked it, it was greasy and I hated it. Just letting you know NEVER GO THERE! I’m 9 yrs old as well.

After staying in the lawns hotel and missing tea i decided to try here down the road for a cheeky Chinese in bed with a film!! I was pleasantly surprised the food is unreal, ribs full of meat and loads of BBQ sauce, the sauce was like I've never tasted before good BBQ flavor but spice to go with it. Highly Recommend

Great local Chinese food with variety of veggie food for vegan. Even thou I'm staying 4 miles+ away from them, they manage to deliver on time during weekend.

Mixed feelings about this place. The food tastes great and service was good but I'm convinced I had bad guts immediately afterwards. Maybe due to too much MSG in the food? Would explain the improved taste. I don't normally have an issue with Chinese food from China Garden which is just up the road.

Been here a couple of times. Tasty food, hot and well cooked. 🍜🍲🥗 Friendly, welcoming staff. Fast service. Good free parking at front ~ always managed to find a space. Would recommend.
