We were created at the bar by a very surly and abrupt woman behind the bar who all she could say was "What do you want". Refused to do make a Shandy and when asked why replied "because there's too much waste". When putting the drinks on the bar she slammed them down, it felt like we were in a Fawlty Towers sketch. The toilets smelt disgusting with a very strong smell of stale urine. This is somewhere to be avoided at all costs.

Second time at Min-y-Mor, a great 3 night stay, memories made once again, ,We said we would go back, we really enjoy our first break there in May.Great location on the Beach front, many tables to sit and watch the sea, great parking.Every member of staff friendly to us,had a drink before check in by a nice lady. Comfortable ground floor room 27., good nights sleep, wet room bathroom, large tv, well stocked tea and coffee tray .Breakfast were plentiful and hot, shout out to staff who served us,a lovely gentleman Dave and dark haired lady (sorry did not get name).Mandy who serviced our room so helpful, blonde lady in bar very friendly too. They all work so very hard. The evening meals are very nice, good value, did not get to try this time, but going by our first break..A special mention to Faith and Gary who are a lovely couple, who now have there precious little new born girl..They are there to look after you at all hours,to Gary"s cost who came straight away to a night time problem we had.Sorry again Gary. There were families there who all seemed happy,so it must be good for children too, with family rooms, vending machines and ice cream fridges in the foyer.Hope to stay again, best wishes to all,Helen and Shaun.x

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We have had the worst nightmare hotel stay we've ever had and all because the owners failed miserably to inform us that we would be staying directly above their function room on a very noisy night!!. thereby denying us the opportunity to cancel and find somewhere else. They didn't tell us they had a function when we arrived early (totally understated!!!!), completly failed to join the dots and move our room and completely failed to let us know how brutally noisy it was going to be in our room (fyi room 7). We booked this hotel back in March and they didnt even have the common decency to let us know what we were in for at the time or bother to contact us if it was arranged after we booked to pre warn us. Appalling is an understatement. I urge anyone considering this hotel to reconsider. It's in a great position but it's not a great stay - unless you're part of the party night of course, then I guess it doesn't matter. No other accommodation anywhere in the area (we didnt find outvwhatvwe were in for until it all kicked off at 7.30pm, we tried desperately to find somewhere - the owners removed that option from us when they failed to inform us. This hotel is clearly a noisy beach venue holiday spot, when the thud of the bass of the so called music finally stopped - pretty much a welsh Ibitha took over with beered up dregs continuing to party noisily! T Avoid if it's not your sort of stay but book it if it's your thing of course! I guess if you come to this sort of place at this time of year you'd know what to expect. The room itself was very small and the only window was frosted glass with only a top opening option similar to what you'd find in a bathroom - claustrophobic and very little air. It was basically clean but very tired. The bathroom was large but very tired. Lack of air throughout the night caused migraine like symptoms for most of the day. I have to say we booked this hotel for 1 night because we had an important activity the following day, all the circumstances of our stay pretty much wrecked that, safe to say we will never stay in this hotel again or recommend to anyone else. On the upside they reluctantly refunded most of our payment (the room was £135) but retained £35 for 1 breakfast!!!! You gotta laugh ........... £35! That's the price of a half decent restaurant meal! - unfortunately we didn't do breakfast because we just needed to get out of there. I have to say of Barmouth itself - the dogs had a blast - the beach is fantastic and mostly dog friendly, the area and scenery is breathtaking. The sunset was awesome. Barmouth is a Welsh gem and I'm sure there are plenty of nicer places to stay so make sure you look around and research your venue.

Welcoming & Friendly pub/ bar but food was extremely disappointing, prices suggested this would be a mid range pub meal but what we received was very poor quality. We had a Chicken Curry, there was almost no chicken 3 x 1 cm cubes at most so £14 for curry sauce and what appear to be microwaved rice seemed expensive. We had two lasagnes both were piping hot but they were just pasta with little or no meat sauce. Then finished off with far too much grated cheese that had just been melted leaving a pool of yellow ‘oil’ on the surface. Finally a steak and ale pie with mash. This was perhaps the best meal but this had also been re-heated, one area of the pie had become hard and solid as if microwaved. The bar & waiting staff were friendly so don’t feel they deserve to be rated the same as the food but the food deserved one star. We should have complained at the time but felt like it wouldn’t have really achieved anything. Just don’t expected good pub grub despite the pub grub type prices.

Positioned in a lovely spot with amazing views. The lady at the bar was very friendly, however those who were clearing the tables were doing so at a snails pace, it literally was clear one table, have a rest, clear another table, have a rest. Tables were left with food and drinks on for some time, attracting wasps and flies. Not a great advertisement. Lovely spot and had so much potential.

This hotel is dated and has probably suffered greatly through lockdown. I suspect they have just about run out of cash. The outdoor seating was badly worn and needed repainting or replacing. My room was basic and had a chipped bath, no loo-roll holder, no towel rail, no shower. The bar had few beer options, with beer pumps unconnected, no wine list (just a 'by the glass' offering of red or white), no malt whiskies. The food was ok, but no cheese available and only a small range of desserts. The dining room furniture had seen better days; it was not a comfortable room. Tables were well-spaced but a couple at another table were allowed to bring a large dog in and although it remained on a lead it wandered round a bit. Service was poor. No breakfast was included so I ate elsewhere.

Sorry guys, I hate writing bad reviews because generally theres a reason. Service was probably up there with the worst i’ve experienced. Food ranged - my steak was good but very over priced. My wife’s lasagne was lacking any real sauce, and my daughters sausage and mash (I know i’m northern but come on) wasn’t even served with Gravy!!! Service was not good, and it came down to staff. One chap taking food orders, one chap doing drinks for the outside. And a young lad running food. It was all a bit fawlty towers esque. Maybe it was just a bad day, but i can only review my experience. We waited 20 minutes for the table to be cleared. Nobody checked back, we had to go and find our own condiments etc. £3 for peppercorn sauce seemed a bit steep for my liking (again I know i’m a northerner but come on). Three Onion rings. I digress, overall It was a poor experience, typical hotel pricing for food but i felt it was expensive for the quality which was delivered

Stayed for two nights as part of a coach tour. Pretty hotel in a great location - sea in front, mountains behind. A warm welcome from the staff, who were all lovely - nothing was ever too much trouble and they were obviously happy to work there. My room (20) was lovely. A good size, quite plain, spotlessly clean, warm and homely. Plenty of storage space. Beautiful shower room with electric shower. Very comfortable double bed. Lots of coat hangers, even though none of them matched .........Small television with good reception. Free WiFi was really good. Food was excellent too, with good service. Covid precautions were spot on, hand sanitizer available everywhere - and sufficient staffing to ensure all the safety rules were followed. Faith, the manager was always available and she, together with her staff, came outside and waved us off when we left. I felt very safe, valued and respected . All of the staff obviously had great pride in the hotel and rightly so. I would have loved to stay longer and hope I may return one day. Brilliant .......

My feelings were up and down about this place, but in the end, the service made up for all the negatives!I found this place on Booking.com and made the reservation directly. In making the reservation, my card wouldn't go through, but they took my reservation anyway saying I could pay on the day. PLUS. The price quoted was more than what I saw on Booking.com, they said they weren't affiliated with the website, so they couldn't honor the quote. NEGATIVE. Apparently the extra money was because breakfast was included with the room. PLUS.On our arrival day, I called to ensure our reservations. As we had to leave by 7am, I asked what time was breakfast served: 8-8:30am. "Could the breakfast be discounted from the price of the room?" No. BUT they could arrange for us to have cereals, milk and yogurts. We could get the items when we check in. PLUS!I appreciated the way they tried to work with us and was greeted by Andrea who knew our situation. Our room was on the top floor facing the ocean. Gorgeous view of the beach and beer garden in front of the hotel. MAJOR PLUS!The room was sizable, clean, with the usual amenities of tea and coffee. We had a job trying to find an outlet. It's not "modern" by any means, with old carpet and paint peeling in the bathroom, but my only concern is a comfortable bed and a clean room...which it was. So that is a PLUS.There is a pub with two very friendly bartenders. Beer garden, sunset! PLUS. Like I said, better than I expected!

We’d also asked for a vegetarian breakfast for my daughter to then discover she’s actually been served a meat sausage, the lady was not apologetic at all and infact made my daughter feel very awkward for being a veggie! One of our rooms was dirty and smelt of smoke, again when we complained we were told it didn’t smell etc so had to all sleep in one room as we weren’t being offered an alternative, when we booked out and tried to voice all our concerns again the small blonde lady was very rude and told us we in the wrong and nobody ever complains! First, a couple of negative comments. As the hotel has to cater for all tastes to make it a profitable enterprise, there is a pool table and a one-armed bandit off the main bar. Some of the rooms are a little tired and the food generally is pleasant enough but nothing more. Having said that, the hotel is situated at the quieter end of Barmouth in a beautiful location. We had room 1 with a sea-view and couldn't have been nearer to the beach. As well as having an extra bed, it also had a couple of armchairs and a table in the window. The shower room is also a reasonable size with good quality toiletries. There is also a large car-park. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. For these reasons I'm awarding 4-stars.

The evening meals were of good quality with a decent menu although, do bear in mind that this is a popular hotel which is open to non residents that gets very busy, and you sometimes have to wait especially in the evenings. On one night in particular we had a wait of 1 hour for our main course to arrive, a little excessive one would have thought, perhaps extra staff should be available on these busy nights.Having said that the food was very good and was served piping hot which is what we like.

It would have been good to have been told by the dour barman that we needed to order food at the bar. After waiting for someone to take our order for ages we almost left. Thank goodness we didn’t. The best pub Sunday roast I have ever had. Pork with tart tatin? Genius. Great veg, brilliant Yorkshire puds, fab roast potatoes, amazing crackling. Plus serve a roast until 8 pm. So yummy I would consider driving here from Manchester every Sunday (if I could persuade my boyfriend to drive). Just need paper straws and a smile on the Barman’s face (where does he eat as he’d be smiling if he was eating here)..... compliments to the chef!!!!!

We come here with the Barmouth Walking festival group for a curry night. Year on year we have an excellent curry. I have recently stopped eating meat. I chose the Vegetable Sambal which was full of different veg and very very tasty. Accompaniments of onion bhajis and samosas and pappadums were very good. We will be back

Booked for dinner whilst on holiday as it was very local to accommodation we were at. Arrived a little early, intending to have drink before dinner. Reception unattended, but we were greeted by the barman from the adjacent bar. He was pleasant, but perhaps the scruffiest barman I have ever seen, not an impressive start, certainly not the first impression I would have wanted were I the owner/manager !!

Would of given a 5 star but what let them down was the service. The rib eyed steak I had was cooked perfectly to way I asked. Everyone enjoyed their food made a few mistakes on the children's food but it was easily rectified. They were very quick to get the starters out but took around 30-40 minutes for our mains to come. Waitress was very apologetic as there a was a large party. But it was her first ever shift and she was extremely friendly.

We came for dinner on a warm evening to celebrate a 96th birthday and although we had booked the night before we were disappointed to note that there was a limited menu that evening and no mention had been made at the time of booking. Being able to sit outside was great and 4 of the party of 5 all had battered haddock and chips which were served not only attractively they tasted absolutely fabulous. The fifth member had a lamb burger which was equally as tasty. With a good selection of beers and lagers we all enjoyed the evening and as for the birthday girl, she enjoyed it a great deal saying it was some of the best fish and chips she had eaten in a long while.

went twice here to eat, front of house staff a bit lapse daisy and slow and not very accommodating, tried to order food to be told chef said no until a certain time, although it did say open to serve, so we ordered a drink and was told they would come to us when chef was ready, after an hour we went somewhere else, but decided to give it another go the second night, different staff, same attitude , no smiles or eye contact, told chef said no and come back in 15 minutes, which we did, food was pricey, but it was the best meal I have ever tasted, chicken in brandy sauce, fantastic veg or chips absolutely great, hats off to chef but staff need replacing

I attended a party for about 90 people. The evening started with drinks outside watching the sunset or inside in the bar. We were called for dinner at the scheduled time. The food was brought out promptly, was piping hot, very tasty and the chicken in the curry was succulent. Service was excellent, and drinks were available at the bar with very little, if any, queuing. To top it all, there was an excellent band too.

We visited here on a post Christmas trip to blow the cobwebs away. We literally popped in for a quick pint. We were so comfortable with our little dog happily snoozing under the table that we stopped for an amazing fish and chip supper. We then asked about accommodation for the night. They had a fabulous double room overlooking the sea available. It was the best view of the crazy winter sea I had ever seen. We sat and drank too much wine and watched the craziest storm of the winter blow up. It was sensational! The night that followed was extremely wild and noisy as the storm progressed. We didn't sleep much but we were very comfortable. And warm. We rose to a delicious smell of cooked breakfast and it didn't disappoint. Very tasty and plenty too. We returned to our room for a little longer to watch the storm in comfort and the mad sea waves crashing. I would have stayed there all day but reality called us home. I only wished I could have lingered longer.... But as the trip was only meant as a day visit we had stayed longer than planned and needed to leave our haven behind. The staff were very welcoming and especially the lady who took our overnights booking. I only hope if we return the weather is as dramatic and we get the same amazing room . Thanks also fora home from home for our little dog.

We stopped nearby in a campsite and visited the Min y Mor to eat out and have a drink. Our first meal was in the curry night and we weren't expecting great things but how wrong we were! I had the vegetarian option which was a feast for my tastebuds with fresh colourful vegetables and fluffy rice and husband had chicken tikka masala which was succulent and tasty also. Poppadoms and chutneys to start were home cooked and perfect. Staff are friendly and there's a beautiful pub dog called Honey who just loves the fuss. One warning - there's a horrible local man who wears a three piece suit and goads folks into arguing... Do not give eye contact or engage in what you might think is a friendly chat - it won't be!!

We arrived on Friday night to discover it was curry night. We ordered 2 chicken Madras which were very nice with good chunks of chicken. The only thing that let it down was the price of the Naan bread. £3 each and they're not particularly big. Also the garlic Naan is a plain Nann with Garlic butter spread on it, as opposed to having the garlic infused during preparation. The food was very nice though

Have eaten here many times and always come back for the curry. Friday night is curry night and very good value. Had a lovely chicken korma and will be visiting again for the lamb and leek curry which is delicious. My husband had fish and chips which wasn't the best, fish was overdone. Dogs are welcome in the bar area and the garden at the front of the hotel has the best views of the beach anywhere in Barmoth. They also do a great Sunday lunch that you need to book for. Awful experience. We arrived around 2 pm, and we asked what the soup was. We were told it was Parsnip and immediately ordered. The member of staff went to the kitchen to ask something and then came out to say they are no longer serving food. We found this odd given that she had just confirmed the soup with the kitchen, and the cafe is open until 4 pm. Fair enough if we were trying to order at 3.45pm, but this was at 2pm. We ordered coffees and welsh cakes, which took 20 minutes to come (cafe was empty, save for ourselves). The rude member of staff then slammed them on the table, didn't even take the items off the tray, and walked off. Never have I had such an awful customer service experience. Complete letdown to what is a lovely area.

A most welcoming local pub with an excellent chef who happily adapted starters into a main for me - veggie! Although menu catered for everyone. Mine hosts were so cheerful & hardworking - many could take a leaf out of their books! The place was absolutely buzzing with people of all ages - locals & holidaymakers having the time of their lives singing along to the live musician of the evening who sang everything from Beatles/John Denver to modern day...talented chap! We will definitely be back - next time we may stay if not during the summer months, perhaps for an Autumn/Spring walking holiday!
