This was so far the best Goergian restaurant I have ever been in London. The food is exquisite you won't regret it! I personally recommend the dumplings, they are the best! The service was in good time and we had a great time speaking with the chef and a very reasonable price! Overall an excellent restaurant that deserve way more credit for its authenticity and it's perfectly made traditional Georgian dishes❤️

I wanted to try Georgian food for a while and Mimino was listed as one of the best in London. We weren’t disappointed. It was very, very good. Everything we ordered tasted fresh. It is rustic and feels authentic. The decor is a bit kitch but I prefer that than the hospital look so many restaurants seem to adopt. And the staff is friendly.

Food was below average. The service started off shaky, but only got worse when we saw a bunch of mice scurrying about. When we politely asked if we could have some form of compensation (as it's not unreasonable to expect a restaurant to be mice free) the waiter was painfully unapologetic. We'd sadly finished our meal when we saw the mice, would not have carried on if seen earlier. Said he would ring his boss, but came back and said he didn't pick up, and the only thing he could offer was a glass of wine. Would have expected some form of discount or a total refund, since we would not have chosen to eat there had we been aware of the mice. He even seemed angry at us for having seen the mice and not being ok with them. We clarified we knew it wasn't his fault that there were mice, and we weren't blaming him, but that we were not ok with the standards of hygiene. Nevertheless he carried on arguing as if it was perfectly normal to expect to dine with mice. Felt that a glass of wine was unacceptable (we wouldn't have wanted to drink/eat any more since seeing them anyway) as he couldn't guarantee the food was cooked in a clean environment, and since the kitchen door isn't up any stairs etc, it's not implausible for a mouse to have found its way in. He said that the they regularly check cleanliness etc so the kitchen was clean, but obviously that is a lie or they have painfully low standards to be ok with a family of mice living on the premises.

I experienced several times good Georgian food in the former USSR republics, and Mimino is certainly at the top level amongst all these restaurants. We had some excellent vegetable meze (we understand why the owner recommended it), a gorgeous khatchapuri adjaruli (you can't miss it) and some unusual cheese khinkali, very delicate and cooked to perfection. The price is reasonable for being in Kensington, and the personnel is super-nice. We made a bit of a mess in splitting the bill at the end (we were seven) but the waiter was very patient with us, and we take the chance to thank him for his patience. Good choice of Georgian wine, we had some good Saperavi and Tsintsali. Highly recommended, if you're looking for some real Georgian taste.

I stumbled across this restaurant while taking a stroll one evening. Enjoyed it thoroughly! The meal began with complementary brown bread, butter, and a shot of vodka. The borshch was tasty and surprisingly spicy. The khinkali (dumplings) were ample and flavorful. The beer (Lithuanian lager) was too thin for my taste. The service was fast. Highly recommend!

Having tried many different cuisines around the World we were tempted by the possibilities of Georgian food so found our way to a small establishment in a basement just off Kensington High Street on a hot Monday evening. After being greeted and seated we were brought some rather nice bread and a rather large shot of vodka together with the menu. We elected for a starter plate comprising several Georgian meze salads and pastes of more than ample portion, the nicest of which was an aubergine concoction similar to baba ghanoush and rather tasty. The main-course menu offered a number of dishes, many of which contained cheese, however, we were attracted to the mouth-watering prospect of grilled lamb shashlik and ordered accordingly, only to informed that this was not available “this month”. Thoughts sprang to mind that this may be due to, perhaps, a national tradition of abstinence from skewered meats during August, or that the caravan train carrying the specific rare variety of Caucasian lamb for the shashlik may have been held-up by bandits in the Balkans and thus the Chef may be, even now, in contact with the producers trying to urgently procure some more. The waiter murmured that “dumplings or something like” might be a good alternative. “Dumplings or something like” covers a wide variety of possibilities, but we ordered in good faith and what arrived was similar in texture to the sort of steamed dim-sum served in Chinese restaurants. The dumpling parcels themselves, had they been filled with golden coins rather than minced lamb and been only slightly larger, would have rather resembled the sort of purse a cartoon Robin Hood, would have relieved a cartoon Friar Tuck of after accosting him whilst riding through a cartoon Sherwood Forest. They were presented neatly bunched together on a plate and were quite palatable, although we neglected to order a sauce to accompany them which was a mistake on our part. The meal was partnered by a nice Georgian white wine which, at £18 a bottle was very good value. Coffee and another large shot of vodka completed proceedings with a fair degree of satisfaction. Now a little of the surroundings. I have not seen anything similar since eating in a Bulgarian restaurant in Prague in 1985 and I wonder if it is a survivor of a style of restaurant décor centrally approved by Moscow sometime in the 1960s. The banquet seating around the walls had been reupholstered at some time with what I believe is probably leather, but the hides have been loosely attached to give a rumpled effect. In the centre of the room the chairs were of a rustic design last seen in said Bulgarian restaurant in Prague in 1985, and of the few small groups of other diners, most I suspect were expat Georgians. I have to say that my mind began to wander a little, and I found myself imagining Cold War assignations where thickly accented code phrases would be employed to determine an interlocutor’s credentials - Person One Question: “Have you tried the shashlik this month?” Person Two Response: “No! of course not, it’s August!” Person One “Ah, welcome my friend, I trust you were not followed?” - after which there would be an exchange of microfilms secreted in salt dispensers, or packages left in a dead-letter box in the cistern of the Gents – perhaps there might be the occasional assassination by cocktail umbrella. At one point I was sure that one of the other diners turned his head slowly towards me to reveal an exaggerated smile and the glint of a diamond studded tooth. Maybe not. Back to Earth, when all is said, everything was clean and tidy and I was able to get a quick look into the kitchen which appeared orderly. I was even able to briefly observe one of the cooks using a hand pasta machine to make what I assume was the next batch of Friar Tuck purses. No complaints, just a little anachronistic.

I fell in love with Georgian food when I lived in Russia and have been craving it ever since.... I have tried various Georgian restaurants elsewhere in the world, from Los Angeles to London, and, in my humble opinion, this is the very best that I have had. My wife and I came here on the 25th June 2019 and were greeted by the owner who comes from Batumi in Adjaria and he was a gracious host: we had free vodka and bread and the owner was more than happy to chat about Georgia, food, life in London, Georgian history and politics, Georgia football players etc. The highlight, however, was the food: the mixed meze were, to a helping, delightful, the Chadjipuri tasted just like I remembered it when I first tried it in Moscow, and the dumplings were so good that we ordered more and brought them home....! The Georgia semi-sweet wine was wonderful and, according to the Vivino app, very competitively priced. We loved our visit, will come back, and highly recommend it.

We had a celebration dinner at Mimino Georgian last night.I ordered lamb kebabs, it came in flat pieces that didn't look like they had been near skewers nor tasted as if grilled on charcoal as stated on the menu. It was luke warm. It didn't taste like lamb either and there were some suspicious chunks like liver (?) that I left. My husband ordered dumplings, which arrived after I had finished my meal! his dish was the only vegetarian option, very stodgy. No fish dishes as indicated on the menu. I skipped the dessert. The best part was the red wine, not cheap. The meal was a total disappointment. We won't go there again, and we wouldn't recommend it.

You know you will never go back to the place when the owner himself starts arguing with a large group of guests, who previously booked with him and arrange the date/ time/ price. That particular day he was very short of staff, but instead of spending money and employing temporary help, he decided to just wing it with what he had. As a result, we had to wait for over half an hour after a few initial starters were brought to the table, then half an hour later a few more followed, and that sort of service continued to drag on throughout the whole night. My guests visited a Georgian place for the first time, and to say that I was embarrassed, is to say nothing. Georgians are renowned for their hospitality and generosity, so to have a pity, greedy, tight owner who came in and argued in front of the entire large group that the service was acceptable and that there was nothing wrong with it was simply disgusting. As a Georgian myself, I was embarrassed to my very core. There are plenty of other Georgian places, who will serve you with dignity and happiness, that this nation is so good at. A bad apple - do not go there to avoid disappointment

This was my first visit to Mimino and I'll certainly return. I've never been to Georgia but I've eaten many times in Georgian restaurants in Moscow, and Mimino is as good as the best of them. I was on a business trip, eating on my own, and George, the owner, was a most knowledgeable and entertaining host, explaining the dishes and wines on offer. Most Georgians wines are a bit sweet for my taste but the Mukuzani red he recommended was superb, comparable to a full bodied Cabernet. Even though my favourite Georgian starter, lobio (made from red beans), was not on the menu that evening, the chef managed to provide some that had just been made for a party of Georgians. The lobio had a nice texture, not too pasty, with a bit of crunch. The borsch tasted like proper home-made soup and the lamb shashlik had clearly been made with good quality meat. The restaurant itself appears popular with Russians and Georgians, though there was a mixed clientele when I was there. Don't be put off by the fact that it's in a basement just off the High Street - the décor and atmosphere are charming. If you want a night out with good food and wine, where you can learn about another country's culture, go to Mimino. (And ask George about the origin of the name!)

We have been coming to this restaurant since shortly after it opened in 2006, and I can say, we love this place! The owner is very passionate about promoting Georgian food and wine, and he has been going about his business diligently over the years, and with a personal touch. He managed to keep prices for both food and wine at very reasonable levels, and even though the menu is not very large, every dish is authentic and well prepared. Adjapsandali (cold stew based on aubergine and garlic) has been a long favourite with my wife; khachapuri (open hot cheese pie) are superb and mtsvadi, or shashlik (charcoal barbecue meat) are to die for - although I do like khinkali (large dumplings) as well. The juicy shashlik pieces are best helped on with one of the numerous red wines (if you haven't, try the semi-sweet Kindzmarauli or Khvanchkara - but the dry wines may surprise you as well, especially for the price!). And if you are lucky enough to be there on a day when the owner, Zauri, is in attendance, express a bit of interest and you may end up spending time in a good, warm-hearted conversation!

Now this might seem like a small thing, but given that Khinkali make up nearly a half of the main courses, this would have left us with very little choice. He went to check in the kitchen and fortunately they could manage two plates - which turned out to be more than enough as they were so filling! We had the meze and bean-filled bread and cheese filled bread as starters and they were delicious. The main courses were the aforementioned dumplings (filled with meat and sauce) which won unanimous approval around the table, as well as kebabs with huge chunks of meat. The latter were a little too salty for every taste in our group, but we still demolished most of the dishes. Our first experience of Georgian wines was a pleasant one, with both the red and the white (around £20 per bottle) gaining our approval. We never did get the free vodka, but we were pleased enough with our wine not to bother to ask for it.Overall, a lovely evening!

We visited this restaurant in February '17. It was fabulous. I read the reviews, and tbh, the owner's responses swung it for me. I think you can tell a lot about a place by how the management chose to respond to a negative review. We spoke to the owner explaining that we'd never had Georgian food before. He was happy to explain different dishes, and recommend things for us to try. The waitress was efficient, cheerful & helpful. We had a variety of dishes, sharing everything. The cheese stuffed flat bread is still making me drool thinking about it. It was delicious. The Borscht was lovely, the mixed starter was gorgeous. Lots of different flavours. I wasn't keen on the dumplings, but my partner enjoyed them. The owner was happy for us to sample a couple of wines as we'd never tried Georgian wine before. We had a couple of large glasses of a delicious wine. We shared a piece of cake for dessert, it was so delicious we had to order another piece. We felt warmly welcomed, served beautifully, and really well looked after. We will definitely return when we're next in London. It was a wonderful evening.

We visited with our two young children (9 and 7) on a Saturday evening. We were impressed by the friendly and helpful service and by the standard of the food and wine. for starters we had khachipuri, which was wonderfully fresh, and sulunguli cheese. The complimentary vodka (Nemiroff too!) with lovely light black bread and butter was a nice touch too. My 7 year old is very picky about her borshch (her favourite dish) so I was pleased that she gave this the thumbs up and promptly 'disappeared' it! The khinkali were delicious (and also clearly freshly made). We were glad the waitress advised us to order less than we'd intended as we struggled to each everything! I think the only minor quibble was that my husband would have liked the adjika a little hotter. The selection of wines and beers was excellent - we enjoyed an Obolon Premier and the Tsinandali was very good for £20 a bottle. All in all, good prices for the location and highly recommended. We will return when we're next in London.

Having lived in the CIS for over 12 years and visited Tbilisi many times its great to find really good Georgian food in London. I loved the Lobio and my wife loved the Badrajani of course as normal the experience is the Khachapuris which was excellent - a medium for two people is definitely enough. Rye bread with a vodka shot is the opener and then of course its Shashliks - we had beef and lamb - actually we over ordered but it was excellent. Service was quick and friendly and overall a great night ! Great job Mimino მადლობა

My wife and I like Georgian food but as this food is not very well known in the UK we used an occasion of visiting London to have some. This restaurant not being most popular on Tripadvisor attracted our attention by having menus on their web site in English as well as in Georgian, and by the fact they didn't try to cook everything but limit themselves to a couple of dishes. We visited on Sunday evening and the place was not full, there were only 3 tables occupied (including ours). The waitress made recommendations on what food and wine to order. We ordered 2 different Khachapuri (a dish that resembles cheese pizza) and 2 varieties of Shashlik (beef on skewers) - lamb and pork. We also had a bottle of local wine (Saperavi). Food was very good and although Lamb skewers were little bit on chewy side, it was fully compensated by the fact pork was absolutely delicious. We liked Khachapuri so much we took one as takeaway. We will certainly visit again.

I have been a Wednesday night of dry January. Place was quiet, but that fact let the owner tell us histories about wines, Georgian culture and even personal anecdotes. Overall a really nice experience of sweet/ semi sweet/ dry reds from the place were the wines come from. Nice food and Vegetarian Friendly, what makes this place even better. I felt that the famous Georgian hospitality is actually a fact. A must visit for food and wine lovers.

We have chooser this lovely Georgian restaurant for the Christmas family diner, and have received the true family experience. It was so nice to sit behind big round table where you can see everyone and talk to everyone. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating , the food was exceptional and good value for money, just right for the family treat! The wine list deserves the separate mentioning as it has beautiful Georgian wines! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very warm and made us feel like at home. We will definitely come back for more family occasions! Thank you very much for the such pleasant evening it will be in our memories for the long time!

We arrived on Thursday evening and the restaurant was empty. Unfortunately for all those who did not know it was there. It is really worthwhile putting on the map.The welcome by the owner was delightful. Nothing was too much trouble. We were invited to sit where we wanted. A nice round corner table was decided to the the best. When the owner realised that we were in the wine business, he took it upon himself to give us a personal winetasting of his Georgian wines. (In fact, wine started in Georgia just 4,500 years ago) It was just amazing. Then we decided to order and left the selection of food up to the owner as we had never had anything from that area of the world. An eye-opener to all sorts of different foods. The bill was not excessive for the food and wine. And the whole evening left us with aa delightful memory. We shall definitely go again... Next year on our next trip!

Service: Abysmal. Having been made to preorder all our food a day in advance (group of 10 people) we expected our meals to arrive on time (several members of our group received their mains 45mins after others had already finished their meal by then). When we spoke to the manager that the waiting time could be improved he immediately blamed us for not ordering their sample menunand become rude. Tip: if you cannot cook simple dishes in a timely manner then perhaps revise the menu and do not shout at customers; it's very unprofessional.Quality of food: Below average.Setting: Basement, claustrophobic lack of ambience and very dull. A dungeon sounds about rightThis is my worst review that I've ever written. I'd give this place a zero rating if I could. Do not waste your time and money here. A complete let down on Georgian culture and cuisine. Service, quality of food and satisfying customers should be top on a restruaunt's agenda, sadly Mimino does not deliver on these fronts and requires a reality check!

Every time I go to Mimino, menu keeps changing. This time only popular dishes were left with less amount and the same price. E.G Starter :'Meze' consisted of more varieties before, now it's less and overpriced. Idea is to make you order more portions and pay more. Manager is serving tables and is very blunt. Atmosphere: RUSSIAN SONGS which somehow rmeinded me of Soviet Times. Music was rubbish and very loud and seemed like Russian occupation of Georgia was existent in the restaurant too. Shame on you!

I was very sceptical of this place beforehand. I knew I was craving Georgian food and found this gem very accidentally on my way to Starbucks on High street Kensington. Mind you, the entrance is opposite of appealing and I remember thinking the restaurant must be permanently closed. A glance at their outside menu was convincing enough for me to call and book a table for two. The restaurant opens at 6.30pm on week days. If you do turn up at 6.30 until 7 you will most probably be the only customers , but it gets busier by 8pm. As someone who knows authentic Georgian food, I was very impressed. We paid £75 for two but that's because we pretty much tried everything on the menu as well as different Georgian wines. It will probably cost you £45 for two with a glass of wine each, starter and main. The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the Mezze platter which contained all the starters, khachapuri khinkali (dumplings) and pork shashlik (bbq). The only waiter who was a middle aged man seemed gloomy at first but soon opened up and showed his true hospitable Georgian self. Lovely Georgian and at times Russian music.I definitely recommend the place for an unforgettable dinner and pleasant atmosphere.

We were the only people in the restaurant when we came in but then the crowd joined in at about 8PM. They play famous Russian/Georgian songs, including the main theme song from Mimino – I loved that! There were some famous English songs too, just to add.The food was great, we ordered bread with egg and cheese and it was absolutely delicious (my boyfriend first went "ewwww raw egg”, but you need to mix it up with hot cheese and hot bread, and the heat cooks it). We also both had borsch which is our favourite and it was very nice. Sashlik and hinkali for mains, can’t fault them at all, very nice food. The only downfall was that our mains came in at different time, I think I had to wait for about 4-5 minutes for mine, which was a pity. But apart from that, good experience, good service, lovely food, good value overall. We will be back.

This is a Georgian restaurant in High Street Kensington. The restaurant is just off Kensington High Street and is in a basement.I went there with a business colleague for dinner recently as a friend had recommended it.As we climbed the stairs down to the basement, I thought that it could do with a spruce up. Upon entering the restaurant, there was a strong musty smell. The hostess asked us where we would like to sit as the restaurant was empty. We chose to sit at the other end of the restaurant in a corner. The restaurant had subdued lighting.Traditional Georgian music played in the background. The menu had six starters, four pizzas, two soups, and eight main course items. Each starter cost GBP4.90 – but you could have five starters for the price of GBP14.90. So we chose the Georgian meze platter to share. This consisted of:ADJAPSANDALI – Aubergines, sweet pepper and tomatoesBADRIJANI – Roasted aubergines with walnut sauce and Georgian spicesBAZHE (SATSIVI) – chicken in walnut sauce and Georgian spicesLOBIO – Red beans with walnuts and Georgian spicesGEORGIAN SALAD – Cucumber, onion and tomato with herbs. The main courses had shashlick – which if you wanted – you would have to order 24 hours in advance. I did order in advance by email – but it seems that the message did not get through. So unfortunately, no shashlik. I had to order something else and opted for the CHAKHOKBILI – chicken braised in special sauce with tomatoes, eggs and herbs served with mashed potatoes. My colleague chose the CHANAKI – lamb stew with aubergines, potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, basil and special spices. The starters came after five minutes. Given the quantity of each item, I wondered whether I would have paid GBP4.90 for each if I had ordered them separately. The two aubergine items were tasty. The Lobio was tasteless and stodgy. I am not sure which bit of the salad was Georgian. The five small chicken pieces had a slight hint of a flavour. The sauce resembled a satay sauce. The main course was nothing special. My dish looked like a chicken curry with a watery sauce and it tasted like that. The chicken did not appear to have been braised in a special sauce and I could not taste any egg in the sauce. I had a taste of my colleague’s lamb dish. The good thing about the dish was that the lamb was very tender. Otherwise, the rest of it was something I could have put together at home. The sauce had a strange after taste of the spices. I accept that if you do not eat a particular type of cuisine on a regular basis – then it is a matter of acquiring the taste to appreciate it. Having said that, I have travelled to many different countries and tried their cuisines. Each had their plus and minus points. However, on this occasion, I guess that the Georgian food did not leave me with a satisfied feeling. I guess that in due course my travel plans could take me to Georgia - and then I will be able to taste the country's cuisine. The bill including one glass of Georgian wine came to about GBP 50.00 (July 2016).

To start with, it was freezing inside when we came and when asked to put a heater on, the answer was it will be too hot if they do that. Almost all guests were sitting in their coats on including me. The second disappointment was when we asked to replace mash potatoes with fried potatoes for our son and they couldn't do that either. Then we asked to bring Khinkali as a starter and the rest of dishes as main course. Got main course first and then about 5 minutes later came Khinkali which went cold by the time we finished our main course. The wine was nice but too expensive and the glass was only half-filled. The main dish was the biggest disappointment, it was very dry and overcooked. Sauce came at a separate price and in a very small dish. Shashlik had no hint of being made on charcoal and again very low quality, very dry, small portion and came without any side and costed us £13.90. The only nice dish was fried baby chicken and a cake. Overall was very disappointed especially after seeing a bill of £93 and a stomach ache all day after.

So I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Georgian food it's very nice and they overdid it by using cheap stuff. The Imeruli should be full of melted Suguni cheese and not some kind of cottage cheese. The Hinkali was worst! We could taste that the meat was frozen before and not fresh and the herbs weren't the right ones. It should be full of nice meat juice inside but that was full of oil that made me feel sick. The Shashlik was ridiculous. 15£ for 7 pieces, of bad looking and full of fat, meat. That was NOT Georgian food!! The only good thing was the wine and the music. That was the first and the last time I went there. Stop embarrassing Georgian cuisine!

Food was ok...but was served late. Main courses came at different times and the dumplings without the sour cream sauce that they usually come with. As a result we had the dumplings cold by the time that cream came. They werent that good either. The stew was OK but it was just stew; in no case worth the 11 pounds we paid for it. The whole bill came out to 93 pounds. I m sure that there are hundreds of restaurants in London that can offer better food for that price. Would never go back there.

Went as part of group of former university friends on a Saturday night. Everything went well at first, the staff were friendly and we got our drinks without much fuss. Unfortunately after that the service was extremely slow: our food arrived in bits and pieces over about two and half hours and one our party was told hours after she ordered that her dish wasn't available. The waitress was obviously new and was doing what she could given an apparent backlog in the kitchen so we were willing to give her benefit of the doubt. We declined to pay the service charge, however, and the manager was called. He began yelling, saying that it was unreasonable for us to expect the restaurant to deal with such a large party. He continued in a similar vein and became abusive, even singling out one of our party who he harangued for quite some time. I won't be going back, which is a shame since the food was pretty good!

I went with a large group of friends for a university reunion. We booked in advance for ten people, but rang later to ask if we could change the booking to 15 - we were told that this would be fine. When we arrived, some of us were served fairly quickly, but others waited over 2 hours for food. After 2 hours I was told the dish I'd ordered wasn't available (it took them 2 hours to realise this?) and was offered a different (more expensive) dish as a substitute. The bill came with a 12% service charge added which we politely objected to paying. At this point, the manager came out and verbally abused us for quite some time - saying it was our fault the food was late because we were such a large group (nobody obliged them to accept our reservation), that it was also our fault because we changed our reservation last minute. We pointed out that we rang up to check if this was okay, and we were told it was, but the manager replied "the person who took your booking doesn't know anything". We were further shouted at for asking to each pay for what we ordered, rather than splitting the bill evenly, because of the time it added calculating. The manager placed additional blame on our waitress, saying she was new and made a lot of mistakes - our waitress was very nice and very apologetic, and I find it hard to believe she was entirely at fault. Added to this were a few nasty personal insults to the member of our party who had phoned up to make the reservations. The food was actually very tasty when it came, so it's a shame that the terrible customer service ruined the evening.

We also had Aubergine for starter which was delicious, and for main dishes, we ordered the shish kebab of Lamb, and also tried their big dumplings. It was definitely nice to have something different in this restaurant after many nights of Italian, French ,and Pub food.I thought the meats were a bit too much spiced and herb for my own liking.
