comment_iconOpinions

Disappointed- excepted much better - maybe we did not order the right dishes like the Peking duck -chicken and crab starters were fried and ordinary - chili prawns had too much corn starch and was heavy and not light like the Singapore chili sauce - lamb was ordinary- mushrooms were good - fried rice needs to improve - service was non existent literally - you expect much better from this pricey restaurant - and need to buck up !

We chose this restaurant to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The manager, Jaimin, was very rude, unaccommodating, and condescending towards me. We had ordered a starter which was tempura fried green beans. When we got the dish, we noticed it was completely saturated in oil and even when we tasted it, all you could taste was oil. We asked the manager to take dish back or to remake it, he told us that he couldn’t take it back and we need to accept the dish the way it is. I was completely shocked that a restaurant, that is a high-end establishment, would treat their customers in this manner. After a while, he changed his mind and requested us to replace that dish with the vegetarian dumplings which were much more expensive than the starter which we originally ordered. At the end of the meal, when we reminded him that we included a special note that it was my daughter’s birthday, he simply just handed us the bill and asked us if we wanted to order a dessert, which we declined due to his attitude and the environment which it created. His attitude made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome. I am so surprised that a restaurant included in the Michelin Guide has a manager like this who treats his customers in such a negative way. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially if they want to celebrate a special occasion.

we reserved the duck, and it wasn't really nice. they really need to change their duck supplier, as it was too fat for my taste... (or maybe it was that one in particular) I have to scrap the fat off the meat toward the end, and also the first serve of skin wasn't crispy at all. I do like that they don't have a second serve, and we could bring the bone back. the atmosphere is quite nice, waiters are very courteous, but more training is definitely needed, we ordered 2 starters, a duck and 2 main dishes, when asked if this is too much food for 2, the waiters suggested to add even more..... which would be ridiculous among of food for 2 if we adhere to his advise.... The mushroom trio was nice, but didn't enjoy the fujian rice at all, too salty. if you got the money to spare, I prefer the duck from Mingjiang, and dishes from Imperial treasure.

As a level 6 guide, this is my first piss poor review. We (two) came in from the cold as walk-ins to get warmed up over soup starters with a friend. We were taken to a four person table by the hostess, I mentioned that we are only here for small bites, is there a smaller table? It's fine, please be seated. First my soup went cold waiting for my friend's dish to arrive. When we asked for the food to be served, the chef came out and peered at us eerily. Then, when the waiters realized we meant small bites, they then consistently tried to coerce us into ordering more using tactics I've seen on roadsides abroad, then said we have 20m left then we have to leave, the waiter then lied saying the hostess informed us before. When I asked to see her, she refused to come to the table and was followed by waiters constantly walking up and down checking their watches in a very blatant manner making us VERY unwelcome and uncomfortable. For average level food, this kind of attitude was piss poor performance. The waiter was apologizing in the end, fair play but the Cherry on top? Not a single person turned up. And it was all for nothing. AVOID.

The food was excellent, but unfortunately, the service was lacking. The receptionist and porter were very nice and helpful upon arrival. The place was beautiful, and the staff was kind. However, upon reaching our table, we were immediately informed that we had to order quickly as the kitchen was closing. Since the restaurant was Asian, ordering was challenging for us, unfamiliar with the menu. Hastily, we ordered, only to find out the food was spicy, which wasn't mentioned and no one told us. Despite the spice, the food was truly good. Then, we were asked to order dessert while still eating our main course. All the diner was in a rush. When it came time to pay, the bill was high, expected in such a fine dining place. We didn't mind the price or the added fee/tip of about 30 pounds. However, when it came to additional tipping while paying with credit card, we didn't leave another one. We believe a tip is for good service, not pressure all evening to order quickly. At this point, the waitress (whom I believe was the manager) changed her expression and tone drastically. Some minutes later, she returned to the dining area, crossed her arms, and stared at us, to make us leave. When we went downstairs, she asked if we had ordered a taxi, then proceeded to yell at the staff for being lazy and instructed us aggressively to sit while waiting for the taxi, making us uncomfortable that we were in the way. It's a shame - the food was truly excellent, the staff super friendly, and the place very nice. However, such treatment from a waitress/manager is unacceptable in a restaurant of this caliber, especially considering the amount paid.

This was recommended by a friend who is a “foodie.” The food was very underwhelming for the exorbitant prices. And, the service was snobby & stuffy. This is a lovely looking restaurant. Private room and different rooms decorated with strikingly different colour pallettes - beautiful. The food looks amazing but the taste didn't quite match. The egg fried rice was takeaway level the nine prawns super sweet until hurting teeth, The dim sum selections all tasted very similar. The service also did not match the very high prices. Abrupt and borderline rude when it was our time to leave. 1 toilet for each gender to share for the entire first floor. Beautifully decorated. The tables a little too small to accommodate our order. Coats can be left upstairs or downstairs but no one available to return coats when it was time. All in all I would return moreso for the setting than the food.

Too bad, lost a customer. They could have easily rescheduled for me again and gotten a repeat customer which would have resulted in them making much more money than this cancelation fee. So if you aren't sure of you plans, just don't make the reservation...not worth the harsh cancelation fee.

It’s hard to say anything about the food as the whole experience was spoiled when the bill arrived with the 15% service charge added and then they asked for more on the card machine. Our bill came in at over £600 (3 people) with £80+ of that being the 15% service. So being asked for a further tip is just out of order, spoilt the experience and left a very bitter taste. I had Hakkasan and Imperial Palace on my list for a top Asian meal while in London. But I chose this disaster instead. What a mistake. The food was so salty it could not be eaten. All tasting courses were served at one time. Each dish was not even comparable to the worse Chinese food you’d find in China town. I should have listen to the guy I met on the street when he said don’t go. So I advise all who are reading this…do not go. Two people with no alcohol…325 pounds. I had low expectations and even considered cancelling as the hostess working Sunday morning 20 August at around 11.30am was so extraordinarily rude when I changed my booking from one date to another. When I asked her to please repeat what she had said about the cancellation policy and whether my booking had indeed been changed without the policy applying, she deliberately sighed over the phone and aggressively repeated what she said as if she was speaking to a five year old. She put the phone down in my ear as soon as I thanked her for changing the date. I’ve never experienced such unprofessionalism from service staff in my life. Nevermind someone front of house! But luckily the food was exceptional and I can’t wait to be back. Hopefully the hostess doesn’t give this incredible restaurant a bad name.

We were very impressed with the food - the steamed seabass and the aubergine & black bean clay pot were particular highlights. The restaurant’s beautifully decorated and the service was very efficient. I’ve deducted a point as at the end of our meal we weren’t actually shown the bill - just given an amount to pay. I had to query whether the service charge was included (luckily I knew to do this after reading an earlier review on here) otherwise we would have ended up paying a gratuity on top of the service charge. We’ve eaten at many restaurants in London and in other cities and have never experienced this before. I was surprised that a restaurant of this calibre would try and rip off customers in this way.

This is a snazzy restaurant. Dark, sexy, and in a way luxurious. The rest of the experience, however, was disappointing. Food was far overpriced (because fundamentally the food is mediocre--not exquisite), the service was disorganized, the drinks were expensive and "light"...and, then there was this. After spending nearly $250 on a meal for two, we found that it was raining outside. We asked the hostess to call a taxi for us (we were visiting from out of town and don't have UK or European ride call aps on our phones) and she refused. I asked her a second time, and she again refused. Suffice to say, we wouldn't come back.

Fourth time in this restaurant as food was good but this experience was downright racist. Asked to keep quiet 2 minutes into our dinner before we even started talking whilst the table next to us were extremely loud. When we asked the Manager, he agreed that it was actually the next table and he made a mistake thinking it was us. Additionally, we preordered the Peking duck 4 days in advance but we were told it was sold out when we reached. After we took this up with the manager (Aurimas) he said we would get the duck after main course in an hour (11:30pm). We decided to wait for an hour (reluctantly) and just before the main course arrived the server mentioned that the duck was not available and that Aurimas had left for the night. The only reason we stayed was because he convinced us that to and that he would get us the duck. I cannot even fathom why someone would do that if it wasn’t possible. The staff were rude and racist. Only helpful person was a trainee named Naveen who tried to help and didn’t ask us to pay. Never book this restaurant. They were not just unprofessional, but also rude and lied to us. Went here for dinner on Saturday night. The ambiance is really nice. We had to preorder the duck which was hands down their best dish! No point getting anything else unless you try the duck. The skin was so crispy and with the brown sugar was just amazing. The rest of the dishes were good too for example the wasabi prawns and fujian crab fried rice. The service was very good as well. The only trouble we had was as the booking was at 10:30 we were rushed through our courses. When we asked them to slow down the courses the manager came to speak to us about their policy. However after a discussion they kindly agreed to let us take our time. I don’t think they should take a 10:30 booking if we can’t have the table for two hours and we were a big group of 5. That is the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. At the end of the night the waitress and waiters were just so lovely even though we were holding them back! The smaller room was not accommodating the intimacy of dining if you wish not to listening to other people’s conversations or happened to sit next to some loud hedge funds guys. Food was good but not the most outstanding, the service proved by other staff were superb but not by the manager called Rishabh. He seemed like to show off to bring out some dishes but he failed on the hygiene when he served. His sleeves were touched on the food then he closely coughed on one of the plates without covering his mouth. It was toward the end of the meal to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday so we didn’t want to make a scene to complaint especially he’s the manager. The complaint would go no where anyway. Great decoration at the upper floor’s dining rooms. The food taste is average; but the duck is so tasty. I have been here quite often, and each time I visit the taste is different

Wonderful experience. All dishes were cooked to perfection. We got the vege dim sum, peking crispy tofu, black bean aubergine and spicy tofu and it’s hard to pick a favourite! Would highly recommend

The staff was super helpful and attentive. Very good recommendations and extremely friendly (they really made you feel welcome). The whole venue was also very nice. Food and drinks are expensive (what is to be expected in Mayfair) but it was worth the price. The Peking Duck was one of the best I had outside of China.

The dimsum wasn't anything to shout about but the duck and mains were lovely. Be warned you need to order the duck 24hrs prior to your booking but you won't regret it. Yummy.

Beautifully decked out restaurant with multiple rooms, allowing for more intimate or more lively action. Stand out service from both the front of house and our waitress who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Har gau dim sum had delicious fresh prawns and the Peking duck bao was so pretty. Chicken with cashews (despite being on the tasting menu) and Mapo tofu dish were OK. Prices commensurate with the location and ambience.

It’s a mixed bag, but the highlight really is the duck - which you have to order ahead of time when you book for a table. I’ve been here a few times and the rest of the dishes were quite expensive for what you get. Xiao Long Jewels - don’t bother getting these, they are pretty but the flavor is just ok. The skin was quite thick, but I don’t think you get what you pay for. Roasted Peking Duck - absolutely go to Mimi Mei Fair for the duck. If it’s the only item you order plus rice then you are all good for dinner. Singapore Chili Prawns - These are delicious and I would highly recommend you grab a plate Braised Pork Belly - Don’t bother, it tastes like something you can easily make at home. Fujian Crab Rice - really good, highly recommended. Pan Fried Seafood Noodles - great if you’re not looking to ear rice. Overall, it’s not too bad but it is expensive. I mean, you are dining at an upscale restaurant in Mayfair. Come here if you are craving for really good Peking duck!

I would definitely recommend!!! The food was so tasty! We got the sharing menu and it was insane. The chef also recommended the duck. This restaurant has many rooms each of which were designed after goddess Mimi, and they were all so unique. We ate at the parlour, which was like a dining room and it was so beautiful and cosy. The service was also excellent. You need to try this restaurant!

Really bad experience - overpriced food that didn't taste that extraordinary vs how much it costs. You are better off at the likes of Roka or Sexy Fish, do not go there. Also staff are really disorganised, charged me twice for a bottle of wine and took a lot of trouble to get it sorted. Also not given much of an indication on the menu, what shall we go for etc. We ended up having the same dish for starter and main but they didn't raise it. Very disappointing...avoid.

I attended Mimi on a work incentive trip after wanting to go for a long time and it didn’t disappoint. The service from our waiter Rishabh was exceptional and I couldn’t fault him. His recommendations for both food and wine were on point and I’m so glad we listened to him. The Duck… where do I start, when you see reviews about the best Duck in London, they are not wrong! I haven’t stopped thinking about how it literally exploded with flavour and melted in my mouth. I need to go back ASAP to try it again. An amazing meal, with an intimate setting and would highly recommend this hidden gem.

It started out with a drink downstairs at the bar as we were a bit early for our table. We then waited an extra thirty minutes for our table. The appetisers were good but then the mains were also delayed. Next the fire alarm goes off totally ruining the atmosphere. Dessert was okay. Then, the bill arrived. I have no issue with the service charge. However, what I did find is that your menu pricing doesn’t include VAT. So this was added at the end. I have never seen that before and find it to be quite misleading.

This restaurant offers the best Chinese culinary experience Ive ever had. We went for the sharing menu and had a total of no less than 10 plates of food. Sharing these between two people, each incredible dish was sumptious, perfectly presented and of the highest quality ingredients. Service was so warm, friendly, and we were very well looked after. This is fine dining but its a true Chinese experience. The interiors are cool and so was the background music. I had a wonderful birthday meal and would recommend this to anyone wanting to treat someone special. Highly recommended!

Went for a last minute Friday night dinner for 3. Somewhat pricey but excellent quality and very tasty Cantonese style food with other south East Asian influences. The absolute highlight was the roast duck (have them prepare all of it) and the prawn noodles had a beautiful Singapore chilli crab style sauce (which we took away!). Extensive drinks menu too. Highly recommend

I’ve been here before. The food is great, and the location is good. My review is a reflection of a terrible experience I had with the reservations team. I cancelled my booking in advance. Then I received an email on the day of the booking saying the booking was still on. When I called to explain and try to cancel I had the worst customer experience. Caroline, who said is the manager, asked me for proof via screenshot that I had spoken to someone at the restaurant previously to cancel. Her tone of voice was raised. She wouldn’t let me explain or speak saying things like “I’m trying to help you but you’re not following my instructions and you will be charged to the card you left in record.” Coming from a hospitality background, I know this is no way of treating a customer. Especially someone that has been going to the restaurant in previous occasions. After sending the screenshot as “proof” I still haven’t had any acknowledgement of my cancellation.

The setting was truly special, one room prettier than the next. The service and food are superb, but the piece de resistance is the Peking Duck. The service was good but the duck that was preorderd 24 hours in advance had no flavour- very disappinting. The dimsum were far too small and not much filling. The rice arrived 10 min before the duck and was luke warm. On top of this the hostess was unfriendly and rude on entrance and told me I couldn't wait at the bar becasuse it was full i went up to the bar and it was empty. Total waste of £213 for 2 people and had stomach problems next day.

The worst dining experience ever! The hostess was very rude, she said i cannot wait for my husband at the bar saying they were fully booked when the bar was empty. Dumpling taste like rubber ! Waiter does not know if the duck is cantonese or peking Tables are very small, not proportional with their plates. Rice arrived cold, duck had no flavor nor taste . Total waste of money and time I had stomach pain all day after dinner the place had nothing to do with chinese cuisine. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

The service style was precise in terms in timing. Even small things like the temperature of the Sparkling water were kept in mind. I couldn't think of anything that we didn't like. The roasted black pork is a must try! The food was so authentic that it reminded me of my days in Singapore.
