The best butcher I've been to?quite possibly. Everything is just quality. I love their mighty pork chops sometimes with a bit of kidney. All their bbq fare is spot on, and their seasonal faggots are incredible. The cheese counter is amazing too if you fancy some up market cheese with bread and wine on your hols. Local honey sold too. So more than a butcher! Family are lovely serving and and it's now sons and daughters on the sign 👍

Lovely selection but surprisingly expensive. Travelled to Southwold yesterday and decided to look for some Pinneys smoked salmon, which I was pleased to find in this butchers. I was slightly shocked at the price but assumed, you know, food inflation etc etc. I was extremely disappointed to find the identical product in another outlet some hours later more than 20% cheaper. This isn’t a marginal difference between two retailers : it is a fundamentally different pricing decision. I’ll be more cautious in future

Used twice while here on holiday. Fabulous butchers - well stocked with quality produce. Friendly staff too. Throughly recommend.

Visited this butchers whilst on holiday at Kessingland the display of all the meat looked delicious, we chose lamb chops , gigglers and pork sausages and some beautiful kebabs all to take home to Northampton. Well worth it with good service too . Will be back when next on hols .

Visited Southwold last week, not a lot open so decided to have a couple of bbqs. Selection of produce was fantastic. We enjoyed the giggles sausages and massive chicken kebabs which were a meal on their own. Came home with lots to try, brisket tonight was great and looking forward to the Iberian pork joint. Hopefully we can order remotely or it’s a 160 mile round trip to restock the freezer.

After a weekend in Southwold my wife & I popped into mills & sons prior to our return trip. We bought sausages, chicken Kiev’s and venison wellingtons and have just finished off all of them, fantastic. The only problem was, we didn’t buy more but we definitely will on our next visit

The only butcher in town as I’m aware and pretty special. I’d go so far as to say one of the best I’ve visited. Pork products were excellent. The thicker than usual chipolatas were best I’ve eaten and we had a number of cooked breakfasts featuring them and the excellent smoked back, and treacle cured bacon. Black pud was lovely and nice big free range eggs. The beef, lamb and pork burgers BBQ’d very well indeed and the pork chops were thick and juicy. One variety of sausage didn’t take well to the bbq and really exploded. Fork the skin or stick with the chipolatas! The belly pork was excellent on the grill and crisped up a treat. Such lovely staff too and very knowledgable about the products. They do nice frozen packs too and an excellent range of pastries. Stock up here when you’re self catering at southwold. No sense in eating out when you’ve got meat of this quality! There’s a handy grocers next door too.

i have been to southwold at the weekend. This butchers is fantastic . The meat is displayed beautifully. It has kebabs, pork, lamb, beef everything you expect from butchers. The staff are very helpful to. Last time we came here i spent £100 here. Yes the meat is delicious and well worth it. They also put my meat in my cool bag and kept it chilled so i could enjoy the day in southwold. Yes i will be back in a couple of weeks to buy more meat.

Well what wonderfull butcher in Southwold Suffolk . The selection and variety of the meat was outstanding . The kebabs by Henry were delicious ,also tried the minted lamb chops , mouth watering , next we have the Iberian pork roll to try . Why eat in restaurants in Southwold when you can buy such delicious offerings at Mills and sons and daughters .Wish they could deliver to Hertfordshire . Best butchers ever tried .

I shop here exclusively for my fresh meat when we are in town. The steaks are hand cut and the selection of meats offered is very good here.

Visited this butcher twice during our stay in Southwold. Wide variety of meat including venison. Purchased lamb chops and their own delicate sausages.

My partner's family have been buying these since they were children on holiday in Southwold. We travelled down to get these specially and were not disappointed. These are hot buns, sugary and have melted butter inside too. Absolutely unique and i was assured by my 40 plus year in laws these were just as good as they used to be.

I spend a lot of time in southwold and going to Mills & Sons is a must. The staff are friendly, chatty and welcoming upon arrival. The shop is always busy & has a real family feel to it. It is well stocked and the selections of meats are brilliant. We have never been disappointments, from steaks, chicken to the sausages all of which are delicious always and very reasonably priced. They also do hot baguettes which are so tasty. Don’t miss out on this gem of southwold. We love Mills x

No greeting of any kind as I entered. Enquired about a couple of things and the woman was quite hostile....got the feeling she didn't enjoy her job!! She was far from helpful and not even a glimmer of a smile. Shop local we are told....we try but sadly we won't be going back. Whereas Salter & King butcher's are a happy lot and can't do enough for you ..the customer.

Fantastic array of meat.Had some fillet steak which was amongst the best I have had.Friendly helpful staff.

Wanted to try one of the pork baguettes for a while. Very tasty but 5.50 and not even a sliver of stuffing.. bit overpriced. Service was also excruciating. The young lad serving us seemed to be out of it. Not to mention squatting flies and then getting them off the wall with kitchen roll but not washing his hands. Put me off so won't go back. Flies all over the bread. Such a shame.

My boyfriend and I got a bacon sandwich from here after one too many Adnams the night before and oh my goodness it was the best bacon sandwich we have ever had! Thick cut bacon with no fat or gristle on a beautiful baguette... what more can you ask for!

OMG, popped in today for my regular Big Mack baguette. If you don't know already, fried smoked mackerel, bacon, fried egg, chilli source, parsley, salt and pepper in a baguette. Without a doubt the second best meal I've had after mothers roast lamb. George will pretend he's too busy to make the effort but he's in his element once he gets going. Best £8.95 I've ever spent.

Get in early for the carvery roast pork baguette, its mighty fine with its stuffing and apple with a bonus of crackling, local produced pork, Hot bacon and sausages also on sale, high quality.

Southwold is very lucky to have Mills & Sons and Daughters. They have created a standard that guarantees Southwold will have a great butcher on the High Street for as long as the sons and daughters want!

We've been using Mills & Son's for a while now. When we come to visit we try to stock up. We've had the best fillet for a beef Wellington as well as leg of lamb (for Easter). Today we tried the homemade chicken Kiev- amazing! Definitely worth a visit if you're in town (they do great takeaway sausage/ bacon etc baguettes too)

This is a place I've used for many years, both the current owners and the previous owners, and I know the staff well.

Each of our visits to Southwold wouldn't be complete without stopping to buy lunch at this old favourite. The staff are always so friendly and food is delicious. It's so refreshing that good old fashioned service still exists alongside top quality produce.

I have been using Mills and Sons and daughters for at least 30 years and yet they keeping finding ways to improve. Since taking over Nutters cheese counter they have become more like a branch of Fortnum and Mason. Tremendous range of food and only the best will do. And of course the lunch time roasted meat rolls with accompanyments make a delicious meal to take to a bench overlooking the sea. Top notch friendly service too.

See above! Seriously (try the turkey burgers) you'll never eat supermarket meat again! The lamb cutlets are delicious and the menu idea are innovative.

Really good quality meat and other provisions served by friendly and helpful staff. Roast chickens cooked to order can be booked in advance for two daily collections, and are very good, the turkeys at Christmas are also good quality. Cheese also available. Well worth a visit and much better quality than the supermarkets.

Comprar Carne de aquí en varias ocasiones. Siempre ha sido de buena calidad y bien vestidos. Pierna de cerdo con lomo dentro de la Navidad fue maravilloso. Carne la semana pasada, un par de ojos de las costillas de Mills me ha disuadido de comprar filetes de supermercado ya que estaban mucho mejor.

We're doing self catering for the first time and luckily we have Mills , sons & daughters to fall back on. Great service, brilliant choice and food that's better than u'll find in a restaurant, a must

El kebabs de cordero en la Barbie la semana pasada eran de primera clase. Traído a casa el tocino! Que compartí con mi hija y era preciosa. Sólo tenía para almorzar y chuleta de cerdo que era muuuuuuuuuuy delicioso. Ojalá pudiera visitar más a menudo.

Estábamos en vacaciones a finales de marzo de este año en Southwold y visitamos este carnicero en varias ocasiones para tocino y carne de cerdo. El tocino es especial, ha sido tratado con treacle creo y es delicioso. Compramos el maravilloso tocino de cerdo envuelto...

Go there! Seriously! Try their turkey burgers, chicken Kiev, lamb cutlets, kebabs for the bbq! A world apart from suoermarket fare, and not expensive!Oh yes, the sausages! Fab! Lovely staff!

I have used this shop for many many years (previously Hutson's). I am pleased to say in the terms of good quality it has remained unchanged. There is a good choice of meat all on offer at the best time to eat it. (unlike supermarkets where it's straight from the abattoir) They are also well known for their Baguettes, generously filled and at reasonable prices. Great for breakfast and lunch. Butter buns are a must too. See you later this week

We were staying in Southwold for the weekend and the Butchers was just across the road from the Hotel. It was Open on a Sunday Morning doing a Good Trade, so we had to go in, well I would give it 10/10. Fantastic range of Meats and Very Well Priced. The Staff are also Very Polite & Helpful.

We bought delicious bacon and sausage baguettes here this morning for breakfast. Great tasty food and reasonable price. Would definitely return for more.

Having been visiting Southwold for many years we remember it being previously owned I think it was Hutsons. Can definitely recommend the smoked streaky bacon and Pork chops, eggs we bought happened to be all double yokers. Everything looks so fresh as it always did.

We recognised that the Butcher's shop was high quality, but the best surprise of all was the FANTASTIC BAGUETTE'S - pulled pork, stuffing, /pulled Beef, gherkins, mustard mayonnaise, BLT, sausage, we virtually went through the menu as we went every day, then walked to the beach and felt sorry for those people who didn't have what we had! Just delicious, staff so friendly, helpful, they should franchise this, it's one of the best baguettes we have had, DON'T MISS THESE !! Also bought fabulous rumps steak from the butcher, not the cheapest I have bought, but certainly the most flavoursome, may have to move to Southwold Also bought their delicious home made pies - I couldn't make one for this price that was as tasty.

We visited Southwold for the day, it was very busy and difficult to choose where to eat. This place had oldie world charm and character.Friendly young lad preparing the baguettes fresh to order. One Pork with stuffing and apple sauce and me I opted for Bacon lettuce and tomato.Sold lots pickles preserves and of course had the butchers section

We bought lunch baguettes here today - one with hot turkey carved in front of me and one with sausages, lettuce and tomato. There was enough filling to have fed a family, let alone 2 of us!! Delicious and made freshly for us by a charming young lady. Just a short walk to find a bench overlooking the sea - perfect lunchtime on a lovely sunny day :-)

Made to order hot roast-pork filled rolls, with all the trimmings are delicious. What a great lunch to have on the beach! The sausage meat in the sausage rolls is top notch. Returned after a visit last year, so would definite recommend. The traditional butcher's counter offering looked superb too.

My sister is over from the USA & I only heard of the butter bun a few weeks ago despite living in Halesworth all my life so we had to try them, we ordered them as advised & was not disappointed, they are scrummy very similar to a Utah scone in taste & shape. My sister also had to try the sausage rolls and they were very nice too. Staff on both visits very friendly & helpful ❤️

Beautiful meat, the best eggs in the country, great deli section, lovely, informed smiley staff (all of them). Sheesh - the kebabs are delish! As are the pork n crackling baguettes. And the chickens - roast one and marvel at how you suddenly remember what chicken should taste like. I could go on, but I won't. It's a really wonderful butcher and as residents we are eternally grateful that we have them.

Recently we have been visiting southwold a lot, beautiful area & then we found Mills & Sons at the top of the high street! A very well kept place, clean and well decorated. Haven't tried the meats in terms of the butchery but we have had both the breakfast baguettes and the Sunday pork baguettes and they do not disappoint. Absolutely delicious! Huge portions and quick service. The staff are very friendly, chatty and inviting. A very reasonably priced place also. They also sell drinks, breads, cookies / cakes and breads. We have tried a selection now and all have been absolutely outstanding, fresh and tasty. A very highly recommended place in Southwold which we will continue to use on our visits, many thanks for a pleasant experience!

At the top of the High St (rightfully!), Mills is simply awesome. Beautiful produce, great staff and the take away lunch offerings are unbeatable in every way. The sausage baguette needs a post code of it's own such is the sheer gorgeous enormity of it. High class!

Called in this week to buy some steak for anniversary meal. The butcher cut 2 massive rumps. Had them tonight and they were one of the best steaks we have ever tasted. Thanx

Probably the best Sausage Baguette I've had.At the time I thought it was a little pricey £3.40 each and I didn't see what the assistant put into the roll,as it was out of my view.We went and sat on a bench facing the sea,and wow a huge packed filled roll,my wife had the bacon roll and that was the same.Overall we didn't need to eat for ages,a very good price for the quality and quantity.

Without doubt this must be one of the very best butchers I've visited. We've been paying regular trips to Southwold for over 20 years and we've always had excellent meat and service from this shop. They offer a full range of meats, sausages and pies. Not forgetting their bread bakery. The meats are generally aged to perfection, especially the fillet steak.

We used the butchers several times on our recent visit to Southwold. The meat was delicious and we took some back home with us to share with the family.

We go to Southwold each year and getting our hot bacon or sausage rolls for breakfast was part of our daily rituals. Last year we noticed the food wasn't as good and mean portions, tried again this year and still poor. They seem to give generously to locals but not visitors. Not like they are the only place in town so no need to go back there. Shame.

Always good to queue in a butchers as they must be doing something right! Bought a selection of the pies and a couple of steak kebabs. Family devoured all at teatime.

Sausages and black pudding are some of the best I have ever eaten although the bacon wasn't so great. I had the unsmoked and it was very salty.

Southwold enjoyed a truly independent butchers shop for many, many years - Hudson's was part of the towns history. Then along comes Mills & Sons and residents and frequent visitors were worried about what changes might be made.That was then and this is now. Outstanding and varied product, friendly staff - Hawaiian shirts for uniform if you please and a much better shop than Hudson's ever was. Love it to bits!!

Mills & Sons do a take out of sausage and or bacon rolls/baguette and as value for money its unsurpassed in Southwold.Its also a favourite of the local buliders for their breakfast and after a night on Adnams beers the best "pick me up" around.

If, like us, you like to buy local when visiting other places, then you should pay a visit here. Fantastic selection of cuts of meat, and lots of local selection. We bought the Saxon pork and herb sausages with the intention of bbqing, but the weather turned so we had them for breakfast. Shame there weren't any leftovers!

This is the epitome of a high quality local family butcher. They source a wide range of produce from local suppliers and present it really well, making you want to buy much more then you intended when you entered. They are all very friendly and knowledgable, and I look forward to going there every year when on holiday. The beer and treacle bacon is amazing!

Bacon cured in beer and treacle, superb value hams for carving, and a wide variety of delicacies alongside the staples. What's not to like?

A butcher to be proud of. Everything they do is top class and top whack too! Just grit your teeth and console yourself that quality does not come cheap. For a lunch-time sandwich you can't beat their freshly cooked meat baguettes (one between two is advisable), quite delicious. The staff are helpful and pleasant.

This is a high class butchers with an upstairs bakery. The range of products is good. Best of all, however, they do hot roasts each day which you can have in a hot sandwich. Highly recommended is the roast pork with crackling, apple sauce & stuffing, piled into a large and long soft roll. These are packed into foil lined bags with napkins so you can walk the short distance to the seafront and eat them there. Tremendous value at just £4.95 and as filling as a large roast dinner. Served up by very friendly and patient staff too.

Excellent butcher, nice bread, excellent pies and tge roast meat sarnies are great, but that doesn't make it qualify as a restaurant in my book.

As always, excellent quality meats and friendly, helpful service. Not to be missed. Have shopped there over the years. The ownership may have changed, but the staff and quality is unchanged

work mate told me about this place and their filled carvery baguettes. found it hard to egnore the delights of mrs T's but sooo glad we did. mills & sons is a butchers, as you enter turn right and find yourself at a hot counter selling hot turkey stuffing and cranberry baguettes made to order in front of your eyes. we had turkey and also a couple of the sausage ones which come with an amazing amount of meat. foil bags meant they were still piping hot when i met the wife on the sea front, who i'd sent off to the nelson to get some beers! my father had a bacon sandwich which again was packed with meat. (he pinched half a turkey one off me, "just to try") sitting on the benches over looking the sea was a great place to have lunch and we will be back again soon
