One off the best places I have had a meal staff excellent customer service second to none friendly and always willing to go that further for you from start to finish 👍

the prices on the menu are over priced the food looks terrible honestly as a chef myself I am applaud at some of these dishes and what you call food is wrong honestly take some time and look at other restaurants and see how a restaurant cooks and plates food

6 of us had dinner and every aspect was first class. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. My hubby asked for beans instead of veg that was not a problem others in our group asked to change a few options again not a problem. A great menu and a well stocked bar with a lot of variety. The toilets are immaculate. I would definitely recommend a visit but do book if possible as it was busy.

Expensive, could and should be a lot better,has lots of potential, food reasonable .friendly enough.from its position at the harbour it should be always busy,but most of the time it's not.. looking forward to visit when it's more cheaper....

We had heard this place was good to eat so went there to book and ask about possible gluten free options for our daughter! We were told the only gluten free option they had was a baked potato with cheese! Asked about whether they could maybe do chicken or gammon steak both of which were in the menu and were told not! The most frustrating thing was that they acted look like they couldn’t care less about catering for our daughter with coeliac so we took our business next door to frasers who were happy to cater for gluten free!! Poor, non inclusive service!! Not impressed!

I had a perfekt time with my partner here. Stuff was very nice and helpfull. Even when restaurant was very busy they helped us with choice of special dairy free meal. Meals were delicious and prepared quite fast. Portions were huge. During our dinner were playing classic music and with combination with decoration and candlelight it made perfect atmosphere for saturdays dinner. Prices were same as almost everywhere in Scotland. We left restaurant with full tummies and great feelings. I can just recommend this restaurant! Thank you for perfect night!

bit of lunch with the family, very very busy day on millport we went in a party of 6 a table was found for us and the friendly staff got us sorted with drinks and took our order whilst doing 100 other things. food was very high standard pub grub type stuff, scampi & chips, pakora, enchilada. all arrived piping hot and delicious, staff took care of another round of drinks remaining friendly and attentive throughout our visit, dunno how as i would have had a melt down if i'd been that busy. great wee place to have an informal bite to eat before you cycle round the island or get yourself a tan. canny beat millport in the sun and places like this enhance the experience. would definitely recommend.

Night nearly ruined by 6 complete drunks at the next table! Loud, rude and oblivious to every other table making eyes at each other, basically meaning "You are ruining our evening, please shut up or leave" I see they have left a review today. Not surprised it's taken them 4 days to sober up and write up their selective half side of the story! Mind, it was funny watching the older blonde lady bouncing off every table and wall on the way out! Also funny listening to their scheming about how much discount they were going to get in voices so loud that everyone else in the restaurant could hear them! The manager had the patience of a saint understanding their slurred words alone, never mind there obnoxious behaviour. Anyway, here's our review. Great decor and good fun trying to guess all the famous names pictured. Very friendly staff, including the manager. Delicious food, great service. We'll be back!

We booked this for 7 pm and the evening started well with menus and a drinks order. Despite this being advertised as a wine bar there was no wine list and we were offered red or white with no price given, but our two wine experts were given the options and ordered. After the wine arrived we waited about twenty minutes till the waiter came for the food orders. Some of the menu options were unavailable, e.g.steak, and one guest asked for pepper free options but was told this was not available on her choice of food. Two of us ordered chicken pakora which arrived some 25 minutes later and was wildly overcooked with the batter rock solid and the chicken dried up. We asked the waiter to take it back so he advised that a new portion was unavailable and that we should order something else. To save prep time we ordered prawn cocktail as this would only take a couple of minutes to prepare, This arrived some 15 minutes later and given that the other 4 people had long finished their starters we were then told that all the main courses would take another 25 minutes. We complained to the manager about the lengthy delays but were told we could either pay for the wine and forget the food or wait for the main courses. As almost all other food establishments were closed by this time we reluctantly agreed to wait. The food when it arrived was reasonably good but at the end when we went to pay the bill we expected some kind of token discount or at least an apology but were met with neither and the conversation became a little heated. To add insult to injury we expected to pay by credit or debit card but were told they only accepted cash and if we did not have cash there was a cashcard machine about a hundred and fifty yards away. There was no mention of cash only anywhere on the menu or in the restaurant window, but apparently there is a small notice inside the front storm doors. In conclusion although the serving staff were very helpful the management team was not and need to look at their customer awareness in future, so if you are going to visit this restaurant beware of the cash only policy which seems ridiculous in this day and age. Also on leaving we went o the cash dispenser to find it was out of order!! I could add further criticisms but as the manager said that he didn't care about a bad revue I will let the reader make up his or her own mind. We won't be back,

Have visited Minstrels both with my family but also more recently on a girlie weekend. Lovely food, friendly staff, great service & reasonably priced. Only downside is you can’t take dogs in & kids can only come in until 8pm.

We were looking for a light lunch maybe soup and a sandwich. We seen they had a Roast Beef Dinner on special, we opted for it. It was a really good, the beef was tender and an excellent selection of vegetables.

We ate here on the first evening of a 4 day stay and enjoyed it so much that we returned every night for the duration of our holiday. Really nice service and a great selection of food to work your way through. Pleasant background music plus big screens showing views of places on the island both past and present - so a really nice atmosphere.

Visited with family. Service excellent. Food very nice. Wine pricey. Loved the screens with photos of Millport in all weathers. Had fun naming the 60s and 70s film stars.

Good food, good and friendly service, very good menu choice and super atmosphere, year on year Minstrels always delivers, always worth the visit when in Millport.

We liked this place so much we went twice during our stay in Great Cumbrae. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is lovely as well as being great value. Got chatting to Jason and Jonas and the lady with the blonde hair (sorry we didn’t get your name) on our second visit, very nice people who make an effort to make sure you have an enjoyable time even though it was very busy both times we were there. Thanks guys, we had a great couple of nights with you.

Just returned home from a delightful few days in Millport and a firm favourite place with all the family was minstrels restaurant.

Today, I stopped to wait for my family to arrive after cycling the island. I enjoyed a cold drink and a little food. It was nice what I had, I enjoyed it. I loved sitting in the sun watching people enjoying the heat. The pub looked very busy, had a good offer on - Kids eat free 12pm-5pm.

Had two fabulous evening meals in Minstrels this week. Delicious food served promptly by very friendly staff. Thanks to Jason, Sarah, Lesley and Jonas for helping to make our trip to Millport a memorable one. We shall certainly return and encourage friends and family to eat here.

Just back from a lovely holiday in Millport - we had a couple of nights out in Minstrels and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is spotless. We were welcomed to the table by Jason and shown the menu which had a great variety to pick from. Good size helpings and the lentil soup was lovely. Needless to say I made a pig of myself and then we were offered a nice wee Bailey's to finish off. Lovely food, staff, place. Will definitely be back next time we're down.

Had a fantastic dinner with the family - the kids options were excellent and the youngest sat and ate her pasta very happily! The second youngest was pleased to be offered paper and pens to draw and also enjoyed her pizza and chips.

It was the first restaurant in UK which me and my girlfriend visited and it was amazing. Great ambience and lovely staff. We tried fish and chips and lasagna and both of them was perfect. Portions were huge, so you don't have to worried that you will leave this place hungry. Highly recommended. ❤️

I don't understand why some people have left negative reviews.We dropped in for a meal when we visited Millport along with our son and his family from Singapore.The food was first class with my granddaughter asking for another piece of pizza.The owner was friendly and attentive.The decor featured Hollywood stars and got us guessing who some of them were.We'll definitely be back when we're over for the Country and Western Festival at the end of August.

Went for a dinner and it was really disappointing. It was very cheap frozen food heated up and well overpriced. We won’t be back!

Stopped in at Minstrels on our day out to Millport. Lunch menu had a great variety of choice. From toasties, fish, Mexican dishes all the way through to steaks; all very reasonably priced and very tasty. Seems good for all occasions, kids eating free was nice touch.

Have eaten here in the past as we sail all around the area. Each time we return we always remember why.

Came here 2 years ago and had remembered it was very good so decided to give it another go. Thoroughly enjoyed it - food was good - steak pie, chicken curry with half rice and half chips (I enjoyed it but my friend thought the sauce was a bit watery). Didn't have my Zinfandel rose wine (or any sweet rose would have done!!) which would have made it for me. Kids menu was good too although we just missed out on the kids eat free which ended at 5.00 (I think)

Been coming here for years with family and friends food is very good in value too staff are very friendly and accomadating toilets are immaculate which is nice just keeps getting better always improving keep up the good work minstrels

Went to minstrels and the food was spectacular also had a lovely hot chocolate fudge cake for dessert the staff were friendly and helpful. Not a bad word to say about minstrels everything about the place was great 👍🏻

I was in on Saturday with 3 kids and took advantage of a very good deal - free kids meal with a main meal (valid 12-5pm I think). I had the chicken curry which was lovely. It came with boiled rice, fresh salad and prawn crackers and it was delicious. The kids had macaroni cheese, chicken nuggets and chips and fish fingers and chips. Everyone very happy with their food. The service was excellent - very friendly staff who served us promply and checked in with us during our meal.

Had fish and chips, 40 min wait and was left unsatisfied. Furthermore the fish came out uncooked the first time.

A visit to "Minstrels" with family members where we enjoyed thoroughly delicious food at a reasonable price. Relaxing setting & background music. Jason (proprietor) extremely welcoming & friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Millport. Will definitely go back on another visit to Millport.

i came here with my girlfriend for a night out and me and my girlfriend were both very pleased with the service and the staff who were very friendly and pleasent . the food was great to say the least . and the theme was incredible with fabulous pictures . the toilts were also very nice and well kept . i will definetly be back

Went here for a visit with husband gran an grandpa who is in a wheelchair and the owner couldnt have done enough to help us get a table that was suitable and the food was amazing great prices an great food would definetly recommend and defo be back for a lovely meal

Had dinner here on Saturday evening - food was lovely. We had a wee mishap on Friday but this was dealt with exceptionally well and the manageress couldn't have been nicer.

This was my second visit to Minstrels - the last being July 2017, I really enjoyed it and it seemed to have improved from last year.

Lovely wee café sitting overlooking the water at Millport. Very reasonably priced and friendly staff. A great spot for lunch and if its a sunny day there are tables outside.

My wife and I were on a day trip to Millport on Thursday 12th of July.

Visited on 2 nights in a 4 night stay and had an enjoyable meal on both occasions at a very reasonable price ( including drink). The service was excellent in a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend a visit to anyone who wants a lovely unturned meal in pleasant surroundings.

Had a takeaway from here, chicken curry and chicken pakora, really disappointing, the chicken in both meals was dry and seemed processed, while the pakoras themselves were overcooked. The curry itself tasted as though it was out of a jar. Guy who was front of house appeared quite friendly. The menu at best is eclectic at worst very confused

It was a delight to find a amazingly clean restaurant. The owner couldn't more friendly and accommodating. The food, the food was very tasty. My wife had the chicken and vegetable soup, and it was amazing. The toilets were spotless. :)

This is a lovely spot if the weather is good as you can sit outside. Service was friendly and the lasagna and garlic bread was tasty as was the macaroni cheese. Only downside was we could not be served wine outside-don’t know if this is something that could change.

We decided to take a quick trip over to Millport, and got chatting to some locals on the ferry. We were a party of 8, 5 adults, and three children; and we were looking for somewhere family friendly with good food. What we got more than surpassed our expectations. The host was a delightful Scotsman called Jason, full of old world charm. He greeted us like old friends, and helped us choose from a menu packed with both local and international dishes. The kids menu was excellent, and we had a variety of seafood, meat and pasta dishes all of which were first class. The best surprise was kept for last when we got the bill, it was incredibly good value. We visit the West coast of Scotland once or twice a year, and this will definitely be our Sunday lunch spot from now on. next time we’re planning on spending a couple of nights on the island, and savouring the atmosphere in minstrels in the evening as well. All in all a wonderful afternoon, and great value for money

Been coming to Millport for over 20 years, having a family holiday apartment on the island. Minstrels is not somewhere we choose to eat and the last time I ate here was over 10 years ago. Decided to pop in as a group of 4 friends and had an all round awful meal-

Had lunch and dinner it was just perfect would recomend minstrels all the time they make you feel very welcome and a very pleasent manour

the cleanest toilets i have ever seen in a pub.the beer was great and terrific food. the log fire is a treat on a cold day.

We visited Cumbrae with friends and family over Easter weekend and we went into Minstrels for dinner. Fortunately the lady serving was able to squeeze us in as it was a very busy Saturday night and we hadn’t thought to book. We waited a few minutes until the table was ready and then the lady showed us to our table and then she gave the children colouring to keep them busy which was great. We were all very happy with our food, everything was freshly made and they were well presented. Portions were a great size. The service was great and nice to see people smiling and laughing as they work, even when they are so busy. The restaurant itself is lovely and clean and it has a great selection of old film stars photos on the walls ....didn’t manage to get them all but did not bad!! Definitely a well run restaurant and we’ll certainly be back on our next visit across the water.

My wife and I stayed overnight in Millport and came apon Minstrels for our evening meal. This was a wee ray of sunshine on a cold damp Sunday night in Millport. Sarah the owner was also a ray of sunshine...what an absolutely delightful person she is. Scottish tourism can't go wrong with people like Sarah working in it. The food was delicious and the service was first class. This was all rounded off by a complimentary drink from Sarah. My wife and I both agreed Minstrels was one of the best restaurants we have eaten in for a long time....from the food, the decor, friendliness and value for money we would eat nowhere else in Millport. We will be back Sarah and would highly recommend anyone visiting the Island to also visit Minstrels....YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

My partner and I travelled to Millport and decide to have lunch here. Worst decision ever. Walked in the waitress just stared at us and my partner had to ask can we have a table for 2. We hadn't even sat down and asked what we wanted to drink. I asked for a moment to decide to be looked at like I had insulted her. Finally she came back and we ordered our food. I ordered chicken fillet burger my partner had bacon burger. The Chicken breast was more like a sparrow breast and if you value your teeth then avoid this dish. I couldn't bite through it as it was so so rubbery. This put me off my meal as the sensation was disgusting and I had to leave my meal. When the other waitress cleared my plate away asked if I enjoyed it. She could clearly see I left my meal on the plate. I was advised if I had asked to change it then this would have been done. Well a customer shouldn't need to ask for a proper meal to be made. This made my day out lunch ruined. To be fair this meal was removed from my bill. Won't be back and I would definitely won't recommend. Also cans of juice are warm and flat.

Popped in here yesterday on my way home, and was not disappointed. The service was really friendly and warm, and the Sunday roast was delicious - huge portion and tasted great! I'll be back for sure!

Outside on a specials board they were advertising fish and chips for £5.95 until 5pm but this wasn't available because the chef was on holiday! The waitress told us we could order it from the menu for double the price??

Came to Cumbrae island on a coach trip so didn't have long here. So glad we chose Minstrels for a quick meal. We both chose the battered haddock meal which was superbly presented and was the best fish we had tasted in a long time. Staff were very pleasant and service was quick and efficient. Beautiful pictures of celebrities on the walls. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Millport!!!

Decor is very good with all the black & white portraits of American icons on the wall. Very clean and service was quick and welcoming. Food was average, chips were of some frozen variety, hamburger was ok but lacked the cheese to make it the cheeseburgers we ordered. Guess you have to try it and make your own review.

We had a meal at Minstrels whilst vising Millport - the food was decent enough and the curry I had was good, I'd easily eat here again, as the service was also good, only down side was the sweets, very basic for the cost not what I would expect from a restaurant.

My friend and I were in Millport recently for a nostalgic weekend and were staying just across from Minstrels. Lucky for us! We ate in here both of the nights we staying in Millport and loved the food. We also had to squeeze another visit in just before jumping on the bus for our journey home.I could heartily recommend the lamb stew, as each piece of lamb was 'melt in the mouth'. Staff were friendly and efficient and we were also extended a very warm welcome by hosts Sarah and Jason.Will definitely be returning to Millport soon, and make a point of dropping in on Minstrels.

We visited this great place again and had asked if they could arrange some seafood for us. The food was first class. Mussels 2 ways, baked fish, calamari, seafood risotto, langoustine, prawn balls all with an Italian twist. 10 out 10 for the chef and service definitely worth a visit.

We stumbled across this restaurant after arriving in Millport for the afternoon. All 3 of us had a delicious lunch and we enjoyed looking at the interesting artwork on the walls. The toilets were immaculate and we will definitely return on our next day trip.
