As my title said it was okay but could have been so much better. Met up with a friend as we hadn’t seen each other for a few years. Building is absolutely amazing and fab vibe, however service nor food was great. We had to ask on several occasions for the waiter to come over, first to order our meal which he read out at least 5 times, we asked at least 3 times if he would bring our wine to top up our glasses. Even had to ask could he remove our empty plates after waiting a long time, no attention whatsoever. It wasn’t as if it was that busy. We were not asked once whether our food was okay. Starters were nothing special but we both had pie which was very dry and at £36 I would have thought it should have been amazing! Paid the bill which we had to ask for and included extortionate service charge. Then we had a few drinks at the bar. Again service was slow and not a smile from either of the waiters for the hour or so we were seated So slightly underwhelmed which was a shame.

Poor service spoiled our lunch. Mains were brought at odd times; plates were cleared while some of us were still eating; took a while to get staff attention.

The building is grand with all the marble and art deco features. Before afternoon tea we sat at one of the bar areas and enjoyed cocktails made with sustainable ingredients and a very friendly and informative barman (Simon??) Afternoon tea was a delight! Tasty sandwiches that can be replenished once. Nice choice of teas. Dimitar, our waiter, entertained us with the history of the building and why the little cakes represented items found in a bank (100 years old, happy birthday the Ned). I would like to thank Dimitar for his attentiveness, his presence was notable and professional. Would definitely recommend to friends and colleagues!

Having booked a restaurant in the Bank region of London for a Friday evening after work, I found myself in London quite some time before the booking, so a friend and I looked for a bar nearby and stumbled across the Ned. Now I had seen some previously incredible pictures of food at the Ned, so thought it would be a nice venue. We asked at the door if we could come in for a drink, and they said yes. We turned left and were led to a seat at the bar at 'Millies Lounge'. We waited a while until we were brought a menu. The cocktails were not conventional and were not cheap- further more they add 15% service charge to the bill. My friend is less adventurous that I when it comes to cocktails, so ordered the Pina Colada, which was nothing like a traditional Pina Colada. I had 'the Sweetest Thing' which was nice enough. I did like the addition of a bowl of olives with the cocktail, as well as the glass of water, which went some to ease the pain of the £36.32 bill for 2 small cocktails. To add insult to injury, I had to chase up the bill. I still have intentions to sample their food, but it won't be top of the list when I am next out for a drink in London. Pitcher and Piano round the corner does 241 cocktails, and whilst the atmosphere is not as fancy, the prices and strength of the cocktails trumps Millies Lounge unfortunately. I would recommend this place for someone who is trying to impress a date with fancy surroundings!

Food is very very average - not something you would expect from the surroundings. Lamb pie was dry, watery gravy and pastry overcooked / burnt. Cheese souflee very tasteless and bland. Wouldn’t return for food, but the service was very good and surroundings and drinks make it a better experience.

I booked the special ‘bank themed’ afternoon tea at Millie’s Lounge in celebration of this beautiful building’s centenary. Upon arrival we were shown to our table but then left for about 15 mins with no order taken even though it was not very busy. I called over a Manager to ask if we could order as we had just been left sitting there. She was so apologetic and took our order immediately. She also retuned with 2 complimentary glasses of fizz as a gesture of goodwill which was really lovely. From then on everything was absolutely perfect. There was a good selection of teas to choose from. The sandwiches were wonderful and we could order as many as we liked! Good variety too. We had both fruit and plain scones with jam and clotted cream. Gorgeous also. The piece de resistance was the amazing cakes - keys, a necklace, safes and gold bars in honour of the Bank. We were able to take these away in 2 boxes as we were so full. The staff were so friendly and attentive (after the shaky start). The price of this tea was considerably less than other 5 star hotels in London and was every bit as good. We will most definitely return for another very soon. Very impressed.

Had high tea at Millie's, a restaurant within The Ned. The Ned is beautiful--a very large former bank housing a hotel, private club and multiple bars and restaurants, one of which is Millie's. Within our group were two vegetarians, a celiac and one person with no food restrictions. Millie's addressed each diet with the same degree of excellence. We had unlimited finger sandwiches, along with scones and sweet pastries and an unlimited choice of teas. The presentation was gorgeous, and all the food was delicious. The price was moderate compared to tea at some of the other best places. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Cute little boxes were available to take home extras. Johan was one of the charming staff members.

We had the most wonderful evening at Millie’s Lounge catching up with good friends. One of us was on crutches and the staff bent over backwards to help out with seating and ensuring they were well cared for. The front of house ladies and serving staff were super attentive throughout the evening. It felt so professional that at times it was like hosting a private party with our own dedicated catering staff. A big shout out to the very wonderful Bianca. Bianca waited on our table with such grace, easy charm and enthusiasm. The place was so busy that we wondered how it was possible to achieve such flawless service and her excellence in service delivery. Thank you also to the restaurant staff who made allowances for our booking and with a smile.

Booked for afternoon tea. Table behind had fish and chips which was a strong smell against our tea. Our food was disappointing. Cold tasteless sandwiches with hard bread, v odd cakes. Good scones. I had a really bad headache as though I’d eaten additives - I don’t think the cakes were made onsite, probably bought in. I didn’t eat them all. The service was amateur, it felt quite awkward. Will stay with the classics, Ritz Dorchester and Claridges. This was a similar price but dissimilar service and food.

If its seafood your after then you will be terribly disappointed. We have been coming here from day one when the price was around £38.pp. Which gradually creeped up, but we considered good value it was out of this world. Then they decided to only allow hotel guests to book for the Sunday beast feast for a couple of years. They have now reopened to the public and we paid £130.00 pp. Thanking the quality would be equal to before. No! It isn't. The selection on offer has been reduced by at least 50%.. I am a seafood lover and I'm sure many customers are tempted by the mountain of lobster on show. But the quality is sub standard. The lobsters are Canadian and have been frozen. They are so chewy and totally tasteless. You could be eating a piece of rubber. The oysters as many reviews have pointed out are also substandard. There is absolutely no meat in them and the membrane that is is stuck to the shell. The desserts are so very bad also just squares of over sweet shop bought. The carvary is so very ordinary. We will no longer visit the Ned and if we want a carvary we will go to a pub at a fraction of the price.

First of all the food was pretty good. At least quality and taste. Service was shockingly bad for a restaurant and hotel of this calibre. The waiter told me a half English was half the exact English. It’s not. Mine was missing sausage. So was a colleague of mine. He asked for a well done fried egg. He got a runny one which he had to send back. The waiter wasn’t impressed. I asked for some items to be swapped out. The order came up totally wrong. As was with someone else I didn’t complain. My colleague had already been treated rudely. Like I said I thought the Ned was meant to be one of absolute best places to visit and eat. I was wrong.

This is an establishment that does not make accommodations for people with disabilities, which in 2023, is quite unbelievable. On top of that they are incredibly dismissive and rude about it. I asked four separate people if we could be given a table that was a bit quieter because of my father’s hearing impairment. I asked on the phone (two days before the booking), over email and in person. When we arrived they put us at a table in the busiest and loudest part of the restaurant. Only once I told them it was unacceptable and how uncomfortable it was for my father did they grudgingly find us the table, without any apology or acknowledgement of how poorly they had dealt with the situation. Every person I dealt with, particularly the manager, had such a bad attitude and acted without an ounce of empathy. If this is how a business treats disability then they should quite frankly be ashamed.

I had a Christmas dinner here with colleagues a week ago and found it quite underwhelming. To start with, our table wasn't ready when we arrived and despite them telling us they would find us at the bar when it was ready, I had to go looking for them to ask if it was ready 15-20 minutes after our reservation time [no offer of complimentary drinks or apology extended]. The food was average and the service was not what was expected. Our server forgot the chips for our steaks [we had to remind him to get the chips - which finally arrived 10 minutes after the steaks]. I waited over 30 minutes for a whiskey which I also had to remind them to bring to the table. To their credit, the senior person on duty came over, asked us how the experience was, took onboard everything I had to say, apologised, and removed the service charge, some drinks, etc. The overall service was also incredibly slow. As a result, we were late for another reservation. I will say, this is a lovely location, with a great ambiance, and good energy and somewhere I may try again at a quieter time of year when hopefully the service is to the level I would expect.

Went to Millie’s for breakfast. It is a wonderful venue. A grand old bank with comfortable seating and unobtrusive jazz playing softly in the background. The only issue I would raise is that the lighting was very dim, we had to use our phones to see the menu. We ordered some drinks which took a long time to come. In the meantime a very surly waitress marched to our table and demanded our order. When we said we needed a few more minutes she acted as if we were really inconveniencing her. I had ordered a double espresso. When it arrived it looked very much like a single but the waiter insisted it was a double. I later ordered a single and it was the same size. We ordered the full English breakfast, which was just ok, nothing special, and certainly not value for money. The bacon was a bit hard, rather than crispy, the sausages were bland, the toast was cold. So it wasn’t an awful experience, but it didn’t meet our expectations which were driven by the ‘Ned hype’ and the grandiose surroundings.

We went for afternoon tea and arrived a bit early and had drinks at the bar. Cocktails were lovely. The building is stunning, and there is live music playing which was very good. However it's very loud. So loud that because the whole place is open plan, you can't hear that well. If you have hearing issues you will struggle. I see from many reviews that the music is describes as too loud, so it doesn't sound like they're willing to change this. I told them I was vegetarian which they said was no problem. In other hotels this has meant they give me vegetarian sandwiches. We waited 30 minutes for tea. Then tea came without food. We asked if the food was coming and were told by two different members of staff not to worry, it was coming. It came 15 minutes after the tea. My (supposedly vegetarian) afternoon tea was completely different to that of my friend's. Different scones, no clotted cream and different cakes which confused me. So I asked why I had not been given clotted cream, why was everything different? I was brought some clotted cream but no other explanation was given. The sandwiches were odd. The bread was cold and odd and the fillings lacked flavour. I suspected they might be vegan rather than vegetarian but on questioning the waiter had there been a mistake and I'd been given vegan tea instead of vegetarian he simply replied that my order was correct and it was vegetarian. The scones were odd, hard and chewy and different to the other ones. I wondered if they were gluten free which yet another waitress said maybe they were. She brought new scones. The new scones were nice. I discovered that the weird dish I had originally received instead of clotted cream was... chopped margarine (see photo in case you think I'm exaggerating). I'm fairly sure even vegans don't want a whole dish of chopped margarine as a clotted cream sub. By this point I was annoyed and suspicious. Two out of 4 of the cakes were vegan and inedible. By this point we started playing a game of 'which cake is the least worst cake' which turned out to be a very strongly kirsch flavoured mini choux bun which was still not nice. Then there was some weirdly Christmassy thing covered in cheap tasting white chocolate which turned out to be banana cake. There was some sponge cake which was also not good. We complained again to the most recent waitress who said she had never received such feedback before and was very surprised. We left most of the cakes as they did not taste good. The service was average at best despite the 13% service charge. We did receive a discount after our most recent complaint to the manager, but honestly for the experience we wished we had chosen a different location. I can only assume that they have combined vegetarian and vegan (and possibly gf) afternoon teas to save money. I don't think it's a good idea to try and pass off vegan food as vegetarian without declaring it because it doesn't taste the same and it's odd to pretend that you're not. It would be far better to state on the menu the dietary choices upfront and to let people choose or go somewhere else. Most people can tell the difference and don't appreciate asking for one thing and getting another. I would have expected a better standard of food from a 5* hotel.

I’m being a bit harsh with this rating but this site won’t allow me to go back and move it up to four stars. The decor and atmosphere were excellent. Despite the size of the room and number of people, you can comfortably hold a business conversation and the booths are nicely spaced apart. The food is excellent. The only aspect that let the restaurant down were the waiting staff. They were nice people but inexperienced. They served the wrong food to the wrong people, poured the wrong drinks into the wrong glasses mixing drinks, kicked my chair numerous times and served every dish at a different time. Millie’s are certainly not alone in this regard and I think it’s more a reflection of a general staff shortage in London.

One would be enough to share though but ordered two . Shepherds pie was the best I’ve ever had . Chicken main, very tasty . Trio chocolate pudding amazing. Only issue ( I thought!) we waited about half an hour for starters to be taken so I went over to ask to remove the starters . The manager came over and said he had not cleared the plates as we seemed to be picking at the starters … but we had just been picking at the bread . As an apology he gave us a free bottle of wine .. really lovely gesture to be fair . Lovely vibe in there , live musicians , could hardly hear them though . Coming back soon.

Seriously this should have been a great breakfast but … My order of tea took almost 20 mins to arrive. Server accidentally broke a glass at another table near us, not an issue as it was an accident, but they spent 30 mins cleaning, tidying and then hovering whilst people are eating. We were told they ran out of muffins for eggs Benedict but didn’t offer any other options. But then couple beside us got muffins with theirs. Friend’s latte took 30 mins to arrive. Apparently the machine broke. Seriously it was one of the worst experience ever. Would not be returning and that was an expensive breakkie. It seemed that service was not top of the things today as they preferred to talk amongst themselves.
