Millers Cafe at Decora in Moray

I visited Miller's cafe in Decora,Elgin, on April 11th after shopping in Decora's lovely garden center. My friend and I regularly visit Decora and we love to try out Millers cake and scone selection on sale. We were both delighted on this occassion to buy a scone we had not seen before. The scone was Peach and Apricot. We found the scones to be absolutly delicious. Very light and full of the fruity flavour. Well done Miller's cafe for these delicious fruity scones. Our cuppachino coffee was very nice too.

Went for lunch today, April 12th, with family and had the best scone I’ve ever had - it was a strawberry and white choc one and it was absolutely phenomenal. Would highly recommend!

Food was lovely shame the service didn't match. Ordered soup and sandwich and a pinnie. Not too complicated ? Guess I was wrong. Were ordered before it got too busy as its a popular place. Waited a long time for our food to arrive. 25 mins. When it did arrive my soup was luke warm. I sent it back. I was about to go to the till an ask for a refund when a new plate in the state it should have hot. I really enjoyed the food however from the ordering to receiving the food the service was VERY lacking. My suggestion is dont eat there lunch time as they cant cope with the volume of customer that arrive, either turn up about 11 or after 2. Less customer better service to individuals.

Good value for money and great service every time from staff. Must be good as it is always busy with long queues at times. There is a great choice of food and cakes which suits many people.

went for Xmas lunch on 22nd December and shocked that no longer doing xmas lunches as they started serving early in dec so they have finished early very poor and waste of money

Visited millers on Saturday the 18th November for a coffee and cake with an old friend of mine. Sat down and had a wee look over the choices. Was abruptly asked by a small, dark blonde girl with a few piercings what I wanted to drink/eat. This member of staff was unmotivated and really lacked customer service skills, she was harsh and not for chatting at all. Our beverages arrived and we found that the cakes were lovely and good quality. Nice clean place to visit but please give the staff a little reminder of how to act when in hospitality (from a previous hospitality manager) Well done 👏 will visit again

American Breakfast.............it certainly wasn't. Advertised as pancakes,crispy bacon & maple syrup. For ''pancakes,'' read one large frozen pancake cut in two. Crispy Bacon, three slices that can best be described as ''nuked.'' 25 minutes wait for this!!! will not bother returning.

Met up with friends and I had a huge slice of coffee and walnut cake which was fabulous. There was a vast range of sweets, very hard to make a choice 😏

Good food, reasonably priced, served promptly with a smile. What more could you want? Oh, and they’re dog-friendly and will let your furry pal have a drink and a bit of space for them to rest in. Haven’t been previously so can’t comment on the recent opinions of others that it’s went downhill, however we were very happy with our visit.

Sorry to say the Millers have lost it, we used to enjoy going but now the food is very average and over priced. No longer value for money

Very disappointed with our experience at Miller’s. For being a ‘dog friendly’ restaurant, there was very little friendliness about it. Unbeknown to us, we sat at a table not designated for dogs to be at. A rude waitress shouted at us across the restaurant to move our dog away from that table to another, a simple excuse me followed by an explanation would’ve been suffice rather than shouting at us across the restaurant. After moving table, I sat down with my little puppy dog and very briefly lifted her up (away from the table) to sort her lead and collar when said staff member approached and was very rude stating that dogs must be kept on the floor away from the chairs/tables at all times, which is fair enough, but the lack of manners was shocking. Our coffee and cakes arrived, coffee mug was not clean, was told that it was coffee that had ‘spilled over’ which it blatantly wasn’t. Whilst having our cakes and coffee, 3 staff members stood at the restaurant entrance engaging in conversation clearly about us whilst staring. I would understand if my dog was being a nuisance but she was happily lying on the floor quite content, never said a cheep, but the constant staring made us feel uncomfortable, so much so that I got up with my dog and left. Some training on basic manners and how to speak to the public wouldn’t go a miss, staff have let you down and we certainly won’t be back.

Went for lunch over a year ago and had a lovely lunch.Went today 7/6/2023 and we had very poor lunches.The fish I had must have escaped from the batter and at £15.75 and £9.25 for sausage roll chips and beans.I am sorry but I won't be back.

Let me start of by saying I really like the food here, however they need to keep up with times. I have been going here for years with my family. My little one, who's 3 has allergies and this is the first time we have been since COVID. There were things that were gluten free , or dairy free. But he also has egg allergies and nut. We visited at 2:40 on , which is later in the day but it said food was served until 3:30pm but it wasn't , the kids menu was closed, the hot food was closed. So all I could get him was a plain ham sandwich with no butter. If the kids menu has been on, he could of had sausages, beans, chicken fillets etc. I even asked if I could get a small bowl of chips and was told no the specials have stopped. Sorry but if you have a specials board with items on it, then that's your specials. This was all hot food though, sadly it put us going back for food in the future.

Was dissatisfied with the slow service , as a heath and safety no one was wearing hats or hair nets , I noticed that the toast was always handled but the staff with bare hands this should be done with wearing gloves to stop any chance of cross contamination as people are going to be eating the toast.

Myself and a friend visited the cafe today for breakfast. The queuing system was good, and track and trace app easy to use. We were given a table number and told where to sit before joining the line to order, which was fine. We both chose a cooked breakfast, which was served from hot holding at the counter, which meant we had to stand in the queue to pay with our food going cold. On approaching the table we were allocated, we found it covered in dirty dishes. I went back to the counter to let someone know, and asked to sit at another table. We were told we would have to wait for the table to be cleared, and couldn't sit elsewhere, as we had been allocated that particular table. I understand the need to keep tabs on which tables are occupied, but we then had to stand with our food growing ever colder, while the table had to be cleared and sanitised. The food was OK, although by this time, barely warm, but was ruined by finding a large black eyelash stuck to the underside of the egg. I called on an assistant to tell him, and said I didn't want the breakfast replaced, but asked him if he could let someone know. He took my plate and disappeared to the kitchen, and nothing else was said about it. No apology, no one came to ask if I would like something else, not even an acknowledgement. We left pretty disgusted at the service we received.

Millers is generally packed at lunchtime, especially on Wednesday when OAP members of Decora's discount club get 10% off. Good menu with a selection of soups, filled rolls, entrees and cakes. Even when busy, getting through the cafeteria line and having your food delivered is easy and prompt. Food is well-prepared and reasonably priced. Pleasant ambience with comfortable seating. The walls are decorated with paintings from local artists available for sale. You enter through a large hardware store.

We normally have a coffee here when we go to have a look at Decora, the food is good and the staff are friendly, one good thing there is plenty of space so even at busy times you can still get a table.

Restaurant very busy but as no queue we jumped at changed to order. It was a simple order for three adults and a child. Twice I had to ask where our food was. We had all finished our coffee/ drinks when 27min later it arrived. Service was shocking. I asked the girl for a refill due to the wait but she shrugged her shoulders and walked off. We always are fond of a breakfast here, however, today our experience was changed due to the staff. Through having worked in a similar industry I can understand what they are going through but when staff are arguing about the staff rota in front of customers I find it highly inappropriate. My friend and I along with the lady next to us had to deal with listening to something that clearly we shouldn’t have heard. Combine this with the body language of the older member of staff who was dealing with it, we all felt uncomfortable. The older staff member then dealt with us on the till and was very unwelcome and we could just tell she didn’t want to be there. The younger member of staff put a smile back on her face afterwards and carried on doing her job professionally whilst this older lady was taking it out on us. She also took our food out to us and was very nice. We will still be customers because we know that 9 out of 10 times, things like this don’t happen, however, I would recommend that the company looks into discussing with their staff members to know that customers are always looking and listening even when you think they aren’t.Also hair nets around food is a must for me!!!

Dropped in here with friends for lunch. It was heaving possibly due to the launch of the Christmas range. We managed to get a table and went to place our order. Couldn't get any soup as all sold out. We had two cheese and onion toasties with coleslaw and crisps, a gluten free roast beef sandwich and salad, an ordinary roast beef pickle coleslaw salad and crisps sandwich. To follow we had carrot cake, cheese scone jam and butter, Turkish delight cheesecake and a crispie cake. To wash it down we had two lattes, a diet coke and a decaf cappuccino. Our friend reckoned it was the best cheese and onion toastie she has ever had. We will return and would not hesitate to recommend this café to anyone.

The food here so good and really well priced. Both of us had soup and a sandwich and was so filling and just a wonderful. Plenty of seats and staff is so helpful and always willing to help nothing is too much for them. Will be back no doubt

Wasn't expecting much-this is a cafe in a garden centre, but what a fabulous place! Great menu backed up by great tasting food. The Cullen Skink was fantastic and full of flavoursome chunks of fish. Dog friendly too. Added bonus, the ladies at the tills of the garden centre as you leave, have dog biscuit treats which they share while spoiling your dog. All in all a lovely place.

Had eggybread with bacon and syrup and it came out looking like something you'd get in an expensive restaurant, with it tasting just as good. They are dog friendly, with large comfy seats available and the place is spotless. The staff are really friendly, smiley and chatty. We will be back, even if we do need to drive 4 hours to get here.

The cafe has been updated since I was last there. Very comfortable with the tables not being too close to each other. I had the coronation chicken sandwich and my sister the ham sandwich along with a cup of tea for two. The sandwiches were freshly made and delicious. Very popular cafe as a steady line of people when we were there. Good choices on the menu whether a meal or just a snack. Will definitely be back the next time I am in Elgin.

We visited on 6th May for 2 coffees a panini and a toastie. It took over 30 minutes for the food to be served and I had already finished my coffee.

Visited at lunchtime. The staff were very accommodating when I phone 20 mins before raring to book a large table. This was no problem for the staff to accommodate, which was a relief. The food was fresh and very tasty. They offer a wide choice of options for all tastes and types of diet. It was very busy in the restaurant but not too noisy. They offer sandwiches, baked potatoes, toasties, hot food options and home bakes which are all very tasty.

I visit decora regularly for the garden centre. Sometimes I pop into the restaurant for a coffee and cake. Cakes are great but I have never ever enjoyed the coffee. It’s bland... no flavour whatsoever. I went back and asked for an extra shot.... still tasted the same. So next time will give it a miss. It’s really popular on a Wednesday. Discount day for over 60s... and I am that bracket. 12percent off your purchases on a Wednesday too. Staff and lovely and friendly.

We were rather annoyed when the girl serving the drinks put her thumb inside the cups when placing them on the tray.My wife mentioned this to her and she said it is ok because I sanitize my hands which is rubbish because she didn't do after serving the customer in front of us and handling their money Also not happy with dogs being allowed in where there is food

Went in for a snack lunch again today as we like the atmosphere and the surroundings. It was busy as usual but the queue for food wasn't too long. It seems to be a well-run restaurant and always looks clean. The smaller size of tables were in short supply so we sat at a large table for 6. The chairs are far too heavy and unwieldy even for us mobile and able customers. However, there was plenty of room for a disabled young man in a wheelchair so plus marks there. The furniture certainly is built to last but does it need to be so heavy? The waiting time for orders was reasonable but the staff don't have time for ''chit chat''

Almost every time I have visited it has been really busy. The choice of food and home bakes are great. The scones and pancakes are delicious. There is a good choice of beverages. The only problem is the queue. I know that special coffees have to be made by the staff but it might be good if they had a coffee machine where you help yourself to plain coffee or tea which would reduce the queue. Apart from that though it is a favourite place to visit, very comfortable and clean restaurant.

Millers cafe is within the Decora diy / garden centre store. Plenty of free parking outside. The cafe serves breakfasts and lunches but we have only been there for afternoon tea for two. Lovely pot of tea and the rock buns are truly exceptional ! Also trrrific value for money.

We enjoyed delicious breakfasts one morning. They were busy but staff were pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was hot and service efficient. No problems finding somewhere to sit.

Use this regularly as it offers good quality meals prepared on site. Usually have to queue at busy times but they are very fast at getting through the orders. Never have to wait long. Nice to walk round garden centre after lunch.

All the food at this cafe is made fresh in house and tastes wonderful, especially the home made soup! Can get very busy at weekends and on a Wednesday when a discount is offered to pensioners, all in all its a pleasant place to have a spot of lunch or coffee and cake!

After a walk around the town and nearby park went into Dacora garden centre. Well laid out with plenty of merchandise and helpful staff, we then went in for a cup of tea and a cake. Very enjoyable.

Went for a meal after seeing Santa. Had turkey with all the trimmings-good value as lot of turkey on plate. Was £4.20 for a Diet Coke can and a small carton of Ribera which I felt was expensive for what I’d class as normal drinks. Had two youngsters with us in high chairs , one had no straps on it as they broken. Other was filthy!!

A great meal again at Miller's a just amazing Xmas displays and I've never seen such a variety of decorations, a must for all.

I absolutely love it here. Pop in regularly for latte and slice of cake or bacon roll. They never disappoint. Staff always cheery and the seating area always clean and well kept. And always nice to look round shop afterwards.

Had a coffee date with a good friend yesterday at Millers in Decora. Fab place with plenty of space, staff kept it clean and service was good. I was mightily impressed with the vast array of vegan cakes - at least 6 and homemade by the look of things. But gluten free as per my dietary requirements? A scone or a pancake from the kitchen. Disappointed, but pleased there was at least something, I chose the scone. Not very nice. Huge, heavy and pretty tasteless, I ate a quarter. Just one proper homemade gluten free cake would get me back in, but until then - nope. Such a pity, as it is dog friendly too.

Went for a bacon roll and cup of tea.... Staff fantastic and very friendly wonderful atmosphere and roomy

Self service and very busy but still able to find a table for 2 with a bit of space all round. The soup was really delicious as was the crusty wholemeal bread.

Coffee is ok, nothing special but it’s not bad. The scones are good, nice size and the cakes always look great. The general area is always so welcoming and clean. However the only small issue is some of the staff are a tad rude.

So much to choise from at this large cafe. Food is excellent. Always such a relaxing place to eat. Only negative is it is sometimes too hot. Perhaps a lower heating temperature is needed.

The food was delicious. My sandwich was fresh and had heaps of filling and the baked potatoes my friends had also had heaps of filling. The prices were reasonable and the service was quick. The staff were friendly and super helpful. There is a dog friendly area in the restaurant which is very comfortable and clean. It’s great having a cafe where I can take my dog. Totally recommend.

Terrible, stale pancakes, being served at 15.00. Hair on my cup and saucer, rude female member of staff who said pancakes were fresh at 10.00 am and thought human hair wasn't disgusting. We did notice not one member of staff had their hair covered.

Husband and I had excellent lunch here. I had coronation chicken sandwich and he had a sweet chilli chicken panini. Food was very tasty and served very quick even although the cafe was extremely busy. Definitely return

We’ve had cooked breakfasts and a lunch here in the last two weeks ! Always fresh, always good quality ingredients. I especially like the coronation chicken sandwich on the lunch time menu.

Visited on Sunday at about 1135 so just missed breakfast. Lovely young girl told us we might have a little wait until they get lunch started but it actually wasn’t long at all. Lovely food and good coffee. Only downside was that it was extremely awkward seeing and hearing the chef bark orders at the girls. We were sat quite far from the counter and could still hear him. Poor girls. Chins up quines your doing grand.

In Elgin for the day so popped in to Decora to shop and have afternoon tea. Lovely selection, fair price and comfortable surroundings . Great shop with so much to look at,

My son developed a nut allergy when he was five , since then he had been unable to enjoy freshly baked products. So it was wonderful that Millers Cafe had taken the time to list all there ingredients , the staff were very helpful and he really enjoyed the millionaire shortbread.

Met here to catch up with friends. Good variety and choice of food and drinks. Helpful, friendly staff. Adequate seating and nice environment to meet up and have lunch or coffee.

Had a really nice lunch here at the weekend. It was very busy and had a little bit of trouble finding a seat once we'd been through self-service. I had a really tasty quiche with leek and bacon with chips and salad. The coleslaw was actually the star of the show. Lovely and creamy and went well with the slightly salty quiche. My friend had steak pie and chips which was also amazing. Portions were generous and the price was good. The seating area is clean and comfortable. Only gripe was that it was so busy we had to walk around with our trays of food for a while before finding a seat. Didn't have cake on this occasion, but will definitely be back for some because it looked delicious.
