Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Charnwood

Overall a disappointing visit. Food was excellent. Staff were polite. However, service was incredibly slow. Had to ask 3 times for our drinks. The side to our main was brought out first and our mains didn't turn up for another 15 minutes. Had to check up on the food before it was brought out. It took 20mins for our plates to be cleared after we had finished our meal. When the plates were finally cleared we asked for a desert menu. That didn't turn up. We had to ask again for a menu then it took another 10+ minutes for our order to be taken. Overall a mixed feeling regarding the visit but won't be hurrying back again.

We were going to go to a local café for brunch but it was so late I decided it was a better option to go for lunch, we picked the 3 course option at £13.95 pp I started with the BBQ wings and my partner had the deep fried calamari, both great starter's. We both had the sirloin (this did have a supplemental charge) it was an excellent choice and couldn't fault the cooking time, just as we requested, medium rare. For sweet we both opted for the profiteroles, naughty but incredibly nice, no need to splash out on drinks either just ask for water. Ok so not a cheap lunch but for a bit of a treat was really enjoyable, service was also very good Decided to go for my birthday, January 2025 excellent meal and service was as expected. Born in a barn here - place was flippin cold and they kept leaving the door open. Half the menu not available, brought out the wrong item twice. Lettuce had a little beetle thing in it. Other than that it was bog standard average. £122 down the swan.

Excellent food and excellent service from Tom the Manager and Isaac yesterday, which made it a wonderful experience. They are a credit to the brand and we look forward to returning soon. Many thanks Paul and Sarah

Took some family for a meal. The food was ok. Not special. My ribeye was pretty awful. Scallop stater was very watery. I assume cheap frozen scallops. Calamari was ok. The service was good and the staff generally good. Great cocktails. We had a good time, but not sure I’d return.

Went for a slightly risky late afternoon meal. Some places seem to have lower service and food standards at quiet times. Not the case at Miller and Carter today. 5 very happy guests, great service and great food. Thanks

I came for my an my husbands 5th wedding anniversary, when we arrived there was a playe on the table wishing us a happy 5th anniversary. The servie by Beth was amazing very helpful with any food question as I can be quick picky. Great service. Food amazing as normal! Thank you for helping us celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Superb service from Beth and lovely food. I’d only recommend playing Christmas music in the part of the restaurant we were sat in for atmosphere.

Seated next to table of teens in christmas party mode - when other slightly quieter were available. Waited 20 mins for drink / food order. Ordered 3 steaks and 1 ribs. Annoyingly 2 of the steak meals had to be returned as food cold. Were given 10 o/o reduced bill and 1 rnd drinks. Pointless.

Very disappointed. Have been several times and it’s gone downhill… had the butchers block main. Sirloins great, rump very chewy and gristley and the rib eye inedible, sorry but it tasted like mud literally mud. The dessert was a mixed bag, the sharing cookie pie was delicious and although it looked small it was plenty. The crème brûlée was one of the worst I’ve ever had. A very very thin layer or custard spread over the wrong choice of serving equipment and absolutely no crack/crispness to the outer layer. Very very disappointed diner with that one. Sorry but doubt we’ll be back.

Chenai was an incredibly pleasant and helpful server and made our experience very enjoyable! The food was delicious, steak was perfect and loved the new burnt chilli and crispy onion dressing for the salad! The only downside was the ‘seasoned fries’ had no seasoning and tasted like they were sat out all day. Overall a lovely meal.

The staff were absolutely incredible, weren’t left waiting too long at all. The steaks were delicious, cooked perfectly- arrived in a timely manner and Chenai was impeccable, despite an extremely busy section she was excellent, helpful and answered all our questions. Had to wait a while to be seated, to order, to order deserts and to pay the bill. Eye contact with the waiter/to get his attention was difficult. Also my husband ordered a bottle of wine and said to the waiter it was for himself but the waiter poured it to the rest of the table. Twice! After my husband reiterated it was just for him alone. This has never happened before anywhere we have been. The waiter was not listening. We like a good restaurant and paid just shy of £300. Enderby is a better experience for us. We’ve been many times to Enderby. Won’t be returning to Rothley.

We had the mushrooms to start which were delicious followed by the Butchers block to share, which we asked to be cooked medium and came out perfect. Lovely atmosphere, the staff were welcoming and friendly and our server Leonie was very efficient. We will be returning.

I really dont think our visit could be improved, i asked for a quiet table due to a member of the party having hearing problems, we were sat in a lovely quiet location. Service was swift and excellent my father was impressed that the wines were served at the perfect temperature. Food was all delicious, perfectly cooked and all brought out together. Really couldnt fault it and will be back

I'm not a 5-star kind of rater but this absolutely deserves it. Maya, our server, was both attentive and good fun. The Butcher's Board is incredible, both display, taste and range wise.

My wife and I visited Miller and Carter Rothley on 20.11.24 Well where do I start We were told no draught beer after asking for drinks OK so we decided to have two teas but when R??? she came to the table with two pots of tea my wife said where are the tea pot lids "sorry we have been busy and they are all in the wash machine " I then said have you tea spoons "sorry no" So i said do we stir it with a fork she said "we have plenty of forks" which made the people on the other table start to laugh. My wife said the tea is not very hot due to no lids so decided to have a coffee and when she came over with a nice tall glass of coffee said "I have found a spoon for you " and put one tea spoon on the table We just looked at each other then the people on the other table said as they were leaving make sure you check your bill because we had items on there which we did not have So having waited a good 15 minutes i asked R??? to come and take our order My wife asked for the steak with blue cheese and port sauce Yes you guessed it "sorry we don't have any of that sauce left" We said to her well I am sorry but we are leaving she then made a skip walking off saying good I will put my pad back Having got to the car my wife said I am going back to get her name My wife came back to the car fuming and said she was talking to other customers about us complaining about not having tea pot lids My wife told her it was not just the lids it was the lack of basic essentials and also her customer service Having emailed them recieved a generic email back saying she was new Customer training comes to mind Please avoid with no draught beer usually means not paying suppliers

Overpriced average food. That's is all you need to know. It was very busy when we arrived extremely hot with a poor selection of drinks on tap. The waitress looked scared and struggled to understand our order drinks were late arriving too. Pretentious naming of the food and not seen a part cut lettuce with a drizzle on it since the 70's at Berni Inns and yes this is that sort of place but far far more expensive. We had a starter tiny average. Main I had a steak and at £38 it was OK I have had better ones at a third of the price in other pubs. Also if you want chunky chips they are an extra £1 despite being frozen chips so nothing special. Desert was OK but coffee too cold. Will never go again as too expensive and we did not like the service or atmosphere and the crazy expensive prices.

We celebrated a birthday here and requested a more private seating area with some table decorations. Unfortunately, no one informed us beforehand that they wouldn’t be able to decorate the table, so we ended up bringing our own. This would have been perfectly fine if we’d known in advance. That aside, the food and service were absolutely brilliant!
