Miller & Carter Sheffield City Centre in Sheffield

Very disappointing. We first ordered a starter that arrived around 20 minutes later, the starter was lovely but not at all worth the wait. When our plate was taken away I then asked for two drinks that we had to wait a further 20 minutes for. We ordered a Chateaubriand, medium rare, which came with two lettuce wedges, two sides and two sauces. Our lettuce wedge came out 40 minutes after our starter closely followed by our main allowing us no time to eat the lettuce wedge. When our £70 main meal arrived we were very disappointed to say the least. The steak was chewy and not at all cooked medium rare, it was tasteless, bland and cold. The chips were stale and cold and so were the sauces. We did not have any member of waiting staff come to check on us whilst eating our meal. Which was rather amusing as we were sat next to who we can only assume was a fellow member of staff from another Miller and Carter restaurant, upon over hearing their conversation once seated, who were treated like royalty, drinks order taken just after sitting down, starters arriving not long after and not a long wait for their main. When I was finally asked about the meal and made my complaint I was greeted shortly by the manager who gave us a very measly 10% off our £70+ meal. We will not be returning back any time soon.

Very average. Asked for steak medium, it came well done. Had to chase waiter for missing sides. AC unit blowing cold when it’s freezing outside. Overall, no better than pub grub. Nice interior but food and service don’t match the prices. Won’t be going again.

I and my partner went at lunch time, the restaurant was still empty. We have been many times to another Miller and Carter in Sheffield but this time we wanted to try this one. I know food it's nice, we've never had any issues and was looking forward to go. However in this occasion we left even before we got seated as there was no one to greet us at the door. We wait several minutes but nobody turned up so we decided to leave. Another couple also left. So sorry but you've lost 4 customers within few minutes. We will try again eventually and hopefully we will be promptly seated!

Our Christmas treat ! So looking forward to it. Booked ages ago as not fro Sheffield area so was especially looking forward to the experience. We have often been to the Leeds light branch and have always received wonderful and friendly service. However, this evening we arrived at the Sheffield M and C said did we want to go downstairs . We declined and then was shown to a dark and draughty corner. We asked if we could move and that was accommodated pleasantly. Good. But 30 mins later still no drinks or hello your waiter is …… other tables were getting served which added to our frustration. My partner understandably kicked off and was answered by a rather rude employee ‘ do you want serving or what?’ We left, yes I admit in a very annoyed manner, but very disappointed as we had travelled over 60 miles or so to come. I respectfully would like a reply from a manager or someone who is a little more respectful of their customers. Thank you.

Lovely atmosphere and excellent food, but the service by Jane was exceptional. Very polite, very knowledgeable and so pleasant. She made our evening.

Reservamos este restaurante para celebrar la graduación de mis hijos con la familia, ya que había oído de la gente que la cadena de molineros y cárteres hacen comida encantadora, sin embargo este restaurante era muy decepcionante, teníamos una reserva para 3. 30 pm tomó 40 minutos después de entrar en el restaurante en el momento de nuestra reserva para conseguir una bebida parecían muy cortos de personal, aunque nuestra camarera era muy agradable estaba claro que tenía mucho que hacer y demasiadas mesas para ordenar, la comida llegó en realidad nunca me quejo de la comida, pero como era una ocasión familiar muy especial para nosotros fue decepcionante que 3 de cada 5 comidas llegaron frías como ni siquiera ligeramente calientes, toda la comida era muy sosa en sabor y sabía sin condimentar, los hongos sabían como si estuvieran fuera de una lata, pregunté si podían calentar la comida Lo volvieron a cocinar y devolvieron algunas comidas mientras que los otros miembros de nuestra fiesta habían terminado que estropeó nuestro evento familiar, no me quejo y dijeron que habían retirado el 10% de la cuenta, que fue al menos un gesto, Sin embargo, muestra que se dieron cuenta de que no era una experiencia gastronómica aceptada, lamentablemente, aunque la marca no estuvo a la altura de nuestras expectativas y no volveríamos a comer en un molinero y cárter

Had a lovely meal here for a birthday treat. The restaurant itself is classy and clean, the staff did a good job and the fillet steak was divine The menu seemed a bit complicated at first with all the sauces and extras but once you get into it it all went well. We thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go back. It is much better than the other Miller and Carters that we have visited. .

Esta fue la primera vez que nuestra suposición de Alemania había visitado un Miller & Carter y ella les explicó el menú completo y el estilo de servicio. Sugiriendo algunas recomendaciones para principiantes y principales. Todos nuestros huéspedes comentaron lo encantadora que era Jade y lo atenta que fue durante todo el servicio. Recordando las órdenes de todos e incluso la elección de comida de cada persona al servir. No podría decir suficiente sobre el servicio de Jade y es, con mucho, la mejor Experiencia que hemos tenido en este restaurante. La comida era increíble y toda nuestra fiesta limpió sus platos. Una experiencia fantástica para nuestro segundo aniversario de boda Bebidas en el bar mientras esperas mesa de puré. Camarero fue muy atento a los detalles Llevado a nuestra mesa y George era nuestro anfitrión. Qué joven fantástico y no podía hacer lo suficiente por ti Pedimos el bloque de carniceros con 1/2 rejilla de costillas. Check your bill . Added loads of drinks on my bill and were then rude an u apologetic when I brought this to their attention . Even when I brought it to their attention they did not refund me properly and walked off with my receipt and did not give me a new updated one.

Food was very tasty, however my chips were only warm and the salad didn’t come. Would definitely come here again though as service conducted by Jess was excellent

This was my first visit to this lovely restaurant and it certainly won’t be my last. The lunch menu was varied and very reasonably priced for the quality. Our server Reegan was extremely pleasant and professional. A lovely dining experience.

My first stay at miller and Carter and have to say I was really impressed. The rooms are really spacious and a lovely bed. The check in process was really easy and access to the room out of core hours was straightforward. Used the restaurant for dinner and the food was first class. Can highly recommend the lamb rump steak. Hotel is perfectly situated if you work in the centre of Sheffield and close to other amenities.

We arrived at our table and everything was fine great greeting and all food and drinks ordered wine arrived perfect as usual. The water seems to be on rations as it's just a little glass. Unfortunately it went a bit south when the food arrived the marrowbone and shin beef sides were cold and had to be sent back the steaks were just acceptable.The lobster was just warm enough to enjoy. The quality was there no doubt but I feel the food was left on the serving area too long even the butter wasn't melting. Overhaul we still had a nice evening and would return as there's no real competition in the city

Very slow service Waited twenty minutes for 2 drinks and then one and a half hours for the main course. We waited for about 20 minutes for the table to be cleared when finished.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We booked for the 3 course lunch menu. It was great, very filling and great price. My husband paid extra for a better steak and he said it melted in his mouth and all the accompaniments were very tasty too. My favourite was the sharing profiteroles they were gorgeous. Last year we did get a glass of fizz at the park head miller and carter though, which was a nice touch!! Perhaps this venue could do it next time for us?? It was a great pleasure to be served by a homegrown Sheffield lad George who chatted with us about people and places around Sheffield this made my husbands night. Can’t wait to visit again!!

My water was excellent. My daddy,s steak looked like an 🪓🪓 axe.I liked the creativity of the pasta being curly.the decorations looked quite pretty.

The service was excellent. The steak was lovely. The lobster tail was the smallest lobster tail I have ever seen… resembled more a langoustine if I am brutally honest! Very high priced for the quantity of food I thought personally. Though the quality was good.

Never been here before but well worth it! I had a 10oz Aberdeen Angus Sirloin with a Red Wine Sauce which was GORGEOUS, my partner had the Sea Bass which was well cooked with grilled Mediterranean vegetables. A special mention goes to our waiter Antonio a charming and friendly Italian gentleman.

Ive only marked it down to 3 because of the noise throughout the night coming from a private room. The room was immaculate bed was comfortable and the breakfast next day was really nice especially for the price

Researching Steakhouses in Sheffield town centre and this was the only option I could find. Nice table in what was a very large busy restaurant. Service was excellent. Wine was good and so all it needed for a very enjoyable meal was some half decent food. The food was not good. We decided to share a chateaubriand for £70. A chateaubriand is supposed to be a fillet of tenderloin beautifully cooked. It is not supposed to be a chunk of meat the size and shape of Tyson Fury’s fist and with a similar toughness. When we were asked how we wanted it cooked I can only assume our request for medium rare was construed as burn one side then bring it to us. The only way to carve this effectively would have been to replace our steak knives with a chainsaw and an angle grinder. However, the biggest crime was that it simply was not seasoned in any way. This is just basic stuff that any chef knows as standard, so it’s pretty alarming that nobody felt a bit of salt and pepper was unnecessary in the cooking process. It does amaze me how places like this remain so busy. Maybe we were just unlucky but this was not good and there is no way I am going back to a Miller and Carter anytime soon. As I say, can’t fault the service, ambience or wine - but that meat…..
