Miller & Carter in St Albans

Had a sea bass fillet yesterday and it was DELICIOUS 😋 flavours are definitely there 😋 👌 BUT portion is quite small (I meant the trimmings, very little of it) Other than that it was really yummy and I'll definitely order again!! Yummy!!

We were served by Martina who was lovely. The food was outstanding. We’ve been before to different Miller and Carter’s and usually have a steak obviously. But both tried different things and me and my partner really loved all 3 courses. Will definitely come again.

Our local M&C, food always good and the service! The staff our attentive, just and a chilled atmosphere! We will be back again soon.

My partner took me here for lunch when I'd finished work...beautiful food and excellent customer service; staff very pleasant with a warm welcome as soon as we came through the door; definately will be going again...and again!! Butcher's Block is next to try as the couple next to us had this ordered; looked DELICIOUS so we will be trying that!!

I came here for a birthday meal with my husband & friends, our waitress for the evening was Martina, she was so polite and attentive to our requests and needs. The food was absolutely delicious this evening. Our starters were cooked perfectly (chicken & prawns), All Steaks were cooker how we requested, chips were crispy and well salted. All served within a good time frame. The birthday treat was also a lovely surprise too. All the other staff we interacted with were so polite. I could not fault anything this evening.

Great experience. I have never been to a steakhouse before, but our waitress Emelia was great and really helpful and informative.

I really enjoyed the Ribeyed steak medium 12oz, pepper corn, Food was fresh, salads crisp and clean. Chunky chips, Mashed potato, everything to do with the meal, top notch. It was a quiet afternoon, I don't know how service is when busy time. Will definetly go back. The manager engaged with customers, good.

All good, Sunday set price menu offered good food, variety and quite good value.

Had a lovely meal here with my boyfriend. We shared the butchers block which was cooked exactly how we like. All staff were friendly and attentive, especially our main server - Emelia, who made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely return.

Took the family on a Thursday night to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. The service was superb and a big shout out to Martina for helping with tje surprise candles and cake. The food was very good and well cooked and presented. The scallops could have been bigger for the price you are paying though but all the other food was excellent. Shame that the restaurant was empty by 9.30pm which is why the atmosphere score is low. I presume the weekends are better.

Would recommend as they catered for my friends special birthday and there was over 20 of us. Food slightly too salty but everyone was happy and my friend enjoyed her birthday celebration. Thank you to the staff who worked very hard that day.

Lovely meal with excellent service by Beata. Warm friendly welcome and attentive service throughout. The meal was excellent, although I wish jacket potatoes and sweet potato fries were still on the menu.

Absolutely terrible and won’t ever be returning. Completely incompetent staff, watched our food sit for 15 minutes before it was picked up and given to us… stone cold. Absolutely no excuse as the restaurant wasn’t busy Had to wait about 20 minutes each time for a drink, whilst the staff just stood around talking. I ordered a Merlot and waited ages and then the staff member strolls out of nowhere and finally shouts across from bar section, did you order a drink? Well yes, you would know that if you were doing your job. Starters were cold and soggy, how can deep fried calamari be cold and soggy? Oh yes that’s because it’s was sat on the pass for 15 minutes. I couldn’t finish my main as it was cold, bland and the meat was so tough, just disgusting quite frankly. The whole meal was just a disaster. When we asked for the bill swiftly we informed the waitress how terrible it was and she couldn’t care less, ‘soz about that’ was the response. I wish we never paid, it was such a waste of money and the quality was abismal. This is the last time I’ll spend my money at Miller and Carter, what a nightmare. You need to train your staff to have some basic customer service training, manners and how to run a service, I’d have more sympathy if it was busy, but it wasn’t, just a bunch of lazy incompetent staff. Don’t bother wasting your money here, there are plenty of other options in St Albans and you’ll be disappointed if you go here. Pathetic excuse for a restaurant!

I ordered a dessert, a hot chocolate brownie with ice cream, it’s extremely delicious 🤤 black brownie made of dark chocolate and white vanilla ice cream, a gorgeous combination 🫶🏼 I ordered mint tea with it, it’s an incredible combination of flavors ☺️ At the end, I ordered a Berry Spritz cocktail🍹 it has a very mild taste with notes of berries and is decorated with dried raspberries on top. Aperol Spritz lovers may like this version, but the cocktail does not contain Aperol, but gin. In general, the institution deserves attention, aristocratic atmosphere, pleasant service, background light music does not interfere with communication, the institution has several floors ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ••••• Very atmospheric place My friend and I stopped by for an hour while we were waiting for transport. We chose this restaurant for our first date night after moving to St Albans, and it was a fantastic experience. Martina gave us a warm welcome, let us pick our table, and provided excellent service throughout the evening. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

Had a fantastic visit here tonight. The restaurant itself is very nicely presented and we could choose where we wanted to sit. The waitress - Emilia - was a pleasure to deal with and the service overall was great as was the food. We haven't been to M&C for a while but this experience will lead us to book again soon.

Fantastic service from Lucie, a warm welcome, attentive service and helpful at payment. A little too much dressing on the lettuce wedges for us all, but the meat was top stuff as usual.

Lucie is the best waitress at miller and Carter, very attentive always friendly and had a chat! St Albans miller and Carter is by far the best, atmosphere , always great food and service … never let down!! We always get the butchers block, highly recommend!

For starters, we had the prawns, which were good. For the main course, we shared the 50-day dry-aged meat board, but it was disappointing. The meat didn’t have the nutty, cheesy, or any of the distinct flavors you'd expect from 50-day dry aging. However, for dessert, we had the banoffee pie, which was absolutely delicious.

Lovely place. The environment is perfect . Staff are kind and the food is amazing. Martina is the best waitress.

A lovely warm welcome from Beata !! She is wonderful, made us feel special from the start. Service as always was amazing. Great menu choice with an added valentines menu. Food exceptional? Hot & delicious. Didn't have to wait long between courses however we didn't feel rushed. We shall always return to Miller & Carter ( St Albans) .

Lucie, our server, was excellent. Very professional and helpful. The food was excellent, had the Steak Experience. The steak was top quality and perfectly cooked. All five of thought it was very good.

We come here regularly, and the food is always exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The prawns were outstanding, and we highly recommend trying the fish dishes as well. Tonight, we had the pleasure of dining here again, and as always, the service was fantastic. The staff was welcoming, and a special mention goes to Martina, who was polite, friendly, and wonderfully sociable. Her warm hospitality made our experience even better. Looking forward to our next visit!

The quality of the food was again fantastic. However, the service wasn't great. We recieved our lettuce wedge before our starters, our mains arrived before our starters had been cleared, and we both ended up with different sauces to what we ordered. My side arrived halfway through my main meal and the steak was not cooked rare. Our night was completely ruined by a group of young men who decided to laugh at the top of their voices the entire meal like we were in a pub! Staff didn't ask for them to quieten down once and we ate our meal as quickly as possible and left. We thought the 'Happy Birthday' dessert was a nice touch, until the server came over to get payment whilst my husband was still eating it! All in all, not the usual experience we get elsewhere and considering the amount of money and the fact it was a special ocassion I am so upset at the experience we had.

Improve the tiramisu it's horrendous

We booked a table for four as a family treat. First time we’ve visited here but not the last. The food was delicious and service first rate. Our server, Lucie, was wonderful. We’ve only given 4 stars for the atmosphere because the music playing was a tad too loud for our liking. Probably an age thing! It won’t stop us visiting again though!

Waa seated at 7pm, tried to order the butcher’s block but was told it was unavailable. Ordered some wine why we decided what food to order. Had to wait 45 minutes for the wine to arrive and then had to remind the server we had ordered wine. Very disappointing night, won’t return anytime soon
