My husband and I went to this Miller and Carter on a whim last Wednesday and we were both blown away by the food! Ended up being the best Miller and Carter we have had this year! The service was fabulous which added to our experience!

As a couple we were looking forward to experiencing a nice evening the waiter was obviously new he tried so hard but was not supported by his manager the medium rare steak was tough and the tables were left and not cleared when we came to pay the bill the manager asked do you want your change giving him ninety pound cash for a eighty two pound low satandard meal we were very disappointed

We were offered a competent service, the food was good, the atmosphere was relaxing. Nothing to improve based on our experience.

I felt disappointed with my experience, mainly due to the billing practice, which made me very uncomfortable. I had ordered a 3-course set menu along with some additional à la carte dishes. While the taste of the food was fine, when I received the bill, I noticed that everything was charged as à la carte items instead of the set menu, which should have saved me about 10%. When I asked the staff about it, they insisted the bill was correct, and I was almost ready to pay. But after double-checking and comparing the à la carte and set menu prices, I found that the charges didn’t add up correctly. In the end, I paid the correct amount, but the whole process felt frustrating and left a bad impression. As an expat with English as my second language, this experience made me feel uncomfortable and a bit unwelcome.

Our experience at miller and carter started the second we walked through the doors and were greeted by Mario’s twinkling eyes and charming presence. Our meal was perfect, the onion loaf bringing a gleeful tear to our eyes and the steak bringing me right back to my childhood. The service we received was outstanding, nay, fantastico. Mario is a credit to the staff and establishment of miller and carter, bringing both the thrill and the heart to this family dinner. Many thanks Mario!

Excellent visit last Friday, sharing steak was delicious and we were served by Mario who was super friendly and very attentive

Sourdough bread at £5.25 is both a poor product and very expensive. Wedge salads are fine but honey and mustard dressing is too harsh - if it was more gentle my kids might have tried it. We've had Butchers Block several times over the years. Last year you replaced Ribs with Brisket and this is not a good addition. When first did this you allowed people to choose and this was good. Now the staff have been instructed not to do this. The brisket / marrow is disappointing. At least allow customers to choose the ribs instead, even if you don't promote it. Otherwise the steaks were very good and service great too. Thanks

Food was exceptional very well seasoned very well cooked steak not chewy very soft and delicious! Our waiter Mario was superb couldn’t ask for anyone better was really funny respectful Even played with my baby niece rolling on floor playing with her. Pretending to take her flying making her laugh. Forgot my chips and gave a mocktail on the house which was above and beyond. Was my birthday also and he surprised me a plate with happy birthday written on it in chocolate sauce with some icecream and strawberries. Very kind man very funny so thank you Mario for a really lovely night out with my family for my birthday!!! Take care Mario!

We came to visit Miller and Carter for our anniversary dinner and from the get go it was a really great experience. We were greeted by our server, Lucie Who went above and beyond to make sure that our special evening was even more special. She was attentive and accommodating throughout the evening and took the time to congratulate us on our anniversary. We had the date night special set menu and me and my partner both thought it was great value for money. The food was delicious and the variety on offer for the promotion was exceptional. The staff in the St Albans Miller and Carter seemed happy to be doing their job which led to a great customer experience. We would like to say a special thank you to Lucie for making our evening special and preparing our desert plate with a “happy anniversary” message. It’s gestures like this that can leave a lasting impact on customers. I hope that Lucie will be recognised for her attentiveness and hard work because there is no doubt that she puts this effort and care into every customer that she serves.

Went for a 40th dinner for hubby. Our waiter, Mario was excellent. He's the main reason, apart from the food that I'm giving 5 stars! He was polite and chatty but not too much. We had an excellent evening and he was very much a part of that. The restaurant was lovely, well lit and the food was brilliant! Will defo be back!

Lucien was amazing. Really attentive and have great recommendations on the menu when asked. The food was really good. Some of our group thought under done but it was a sharer platter I had T-Bone which was ver sinuey but very tasty. Think I may have had a funny bit of meat Everything else was perfect. An amazing night out.

M&C St Albans is a favourite of the family! But last night's visit was to celebrate our 25th. We were not disappointed. It was lovely and quiet where the wife and I could chat comfortably without having to raise our voices. We chose the Butcher's Block - 2x 5oz Fillet steaks, 1x Ribeye, 1x Rump and Marrow of brisket. Gorgeous meat, cooked to perfection. Beata was our server and looked after us very well!

Went for lunch with my dad today, I explained he was in a wheelchair that needed lots of space and honestly the staff couldn’t have been nicer and really showed kindness. Mario served us and he was super helpful, really nice and couldn’t do enough!! Honestly lovely place and thanks Mario for your top service!! My dads already talking about coming back!!

Lucie was the most amazing server, it was quite busy but only seemed to be her, one bar tender and one manager. We had to wait quite a long time for each service / ordering / wine delivery but this was so not Lucie’s fault. She was very efficient, friendly, professional and knowledgable of menu. There was an ‘incident’ between two tables and she came over to apologise (hardly her fault). It was my son’s 19th Birthday but Lucie recovered the evening perfectly and deserves a pay rise!

Mario was one of the best hosts we have had for a while. I came here with my extended family, some of whom are visiting and can't speak English. Mario made them feel at home, and is also a very handsome man. Will be back soon!

Underrated chain in a beautiful venue in St Albans. For a steak dinner the quality to value is hard to beat. We have made Miller & Carter a regular stop as we always have a delicious steak at a reasonable price and leave stuffed.

The venue was very well presented and the seating felt far enough apart from the next table. The decor lovely throughout. Lucie who served us was amazing. Very friendly and helpful throughout. She was very sociable and smiled lots. We ate the steak and cocktail deal that evening, which was LOVELY. £20.00 for steak side and a choice of cocktail. The whole meal was fantastic and the time from order to arrival was just right.

Let me start off my review by saying this; if Google had 6 star reviews, but you could only use it once, I would use it on this steakhouse. I ordered a 16 OZ ribeye, cooked to medium. It came perfectly cooked just to my liking, and and it melts in your mouth like butter, it was perfectly seasoned too. The crust was exceptional, and it just added a whole new flavour of deliciousness to the steak. The onion thing on the bottom right of the plate in the picture attached was so crispy and flavourful that I would eat 20 of them in one sitting. The server, who I didn't catch the name of, was very polite to me and the person with me, even giving recommendations about the food. Whoever the chef is, I want to ask them to marry me, and if I could describe the food in one word, I would say: delectable. 10/10 restaurant, 100% am coming back.

We went for a family celebration for a 60th wedding anniversary. There were 16 of us. From booking the meal, paying the deposit to leaving the restaurant I could not fault the service. Our servers were attentive, thoughtful, fun and even took photos for us. Everyone’s food was cooked perfectly. We had such a lovely time and my in-laws had a celebration that they won’t forget. Thank you M&C. You’ve done it again. We will always return to St Albans where they have (in my opinion) the best atmosphere, the best staff, the best food and the best setting for a lovely evening out.

This was our first time exploring the Miller & Carter (St. Albans) restaurant. We had heard great things and were excited to try their steak. We were not disappointed! From start to finish the food was exceptional. We were served by Mario, he was fantastic, very attentive and friendly. It was our Son’s 16th birthday and he chose Miller and Carter to celebrate it.

St Alban what a fanstastic town, 30’ away from London crowded area. Beside its lovely parks, Abbey and cute houses it shelters also a posh steak restaurant. We discovered it while researching tripadvisor for a place to have dinner before our return. The look and atmosphere inside is far more distinguished than the ones showed in the online pictures. I ate the most amazing beef steak ever. I am talking about a ribeye steak (30 days aged) medium cooked with a delicous beef sauce which blowed my mind. By far more tasteful than in douzen fancy restaurants in international capitals I have dined in so far. NB: prices are quite decent

Our experience at Miller and carter in st albans was lovely. Our server Sophie was friendly, funny and very attentive and gave us some options as to what to get. The food was amazing and very tasty. As it was our anniversary it was made even more special with a complementary glass of processco for me and my husband to mark 3 years of marriage. Had a great experience - lovely food and great service from Beata

We had a fantastic experience last night at this Miller and Carter. Beata, our waitress, was really great - very attentive (she wouldn’t even let us pour our own wine!) and kind. We ordered a sharing steak so she moved us to a bigger booth which was definitely more comfortable. We were also celebrating my second year university results so she went out of her way to make it special with a glass of Prosecco and a scoop of ice cream. It really was a special night thanks to Beata.

Really nice food and cooked exactly how we ordered it in terms of the rarity of the meat, and the scallops starter was really refreshing and cooked perfectly. Quality of the food has improved a lot since our visit at the beginning of the year and the servers were really attentive, definitely would recommend and will be coming back in the future!

Absolutely wonderful. The steak was perfect, the chicken was perfect, the puds were delicious. Service was excellent. Had the fixed lunch menu, great value for money. Would definitely recommend and yes will definitely be visiting again. Nothing negative at all.

We visited the restaurant on Thursday, ordering the 3 course menu for £33 (drinks not included). The calamari had more breadcrumbs than actual calamari. The prawns were overcooked and almost burnt, and you couldn't taste the meat. To be honest, the starters were not that great. The steaks were great (Rib Eye 8 oz, decent size and good flavour. Shame they don't have garlic and butter as an option for the sauce but the other sauces on the menu were okey, drinks offering were okay, nice selection of cocktails, and the desserts were fine too.

Mario was an excellent host. Very accepting and very knowledgeable about the dishes. Made our visit very special. Both welcomed us and made sure he came to say goodbye upon us leaving. Really added that extra level of service for our visit.

Lovely evening out, mid-week treat! Our server Sophie was very helpful regarding our questions on what platter or dish to go for and made us feel accommodated. In addition, wonderful Italian front of house College who was full of jest and stories to share. Only wish the fixed priced was extended until 6pm from 5pm so would be able to pop in more often after work! Thank you again

Every time I visit, the overall experience is great. I could only mention one negative, the horrible choice of music. Even if I like to listen pop music sometimes, in my opinion it is not fit for this establishment. When I have mentioned this to the staff ( Beata was amazing!) , and to the manager on duty, they said, they cannot control what type of music is played. It is shocking, not letting the management involved in this very important decision. When I need a nice background music in the restaurant, pop music would be the last to choose, unless I want people to dance or get annoyed.

When you visit a steak restaurant, you expect to have a good menu choice. When half the menu is not available (on a Wednesday evening), you cant be anything but disappointed. We have eaten here a lot in the past. We'll go somewhere else in future.

Absolutely amazing! Phenomenal steaks, calamari and mocktails. The customer service from Mario was exceptional, making the experience even better. We were both Italian so it was nice to share some background

This was by far the best meat I had in a very long time!! Very generous dishes. We had the shearing board for two , it comes with at least 4 different steaks , bone marrow, salad , side dish of your choice for around £72 , absolutely worth it!! The place is beautiful, very spacious. Staff were very nice. Totally recommend for family dinner or romantic date.

Love the ambience, and our server, Lucie, was wonderful. We were a party of 13, 5 of which were children. We all received equal attention. The only slight downside was the chimichurri sauce which was unbalanced and the rump steak, which was not great, flacid was the description given. My personal favourite was the blue cheese lettuce wedge which enhanced the ribeye steak perfectly. The rest of the food was also great. Will definitely go again.

Everything was outstanding, with a fantastic atmosphere and an enjoyable evening. The steak platter for two was sublime, featuring top-notch quality meat cooked flawlessly—truly the best I've experienced in the UK. The pricing was fair, and I would certainly visit again! Today we were in st albans reataurant and in general we enjoyed. For starter, we ordered a calamari, where the flavor was fine but it was to much crunchy and today was not the best plate, but the steak was good. In terms of service, we have received a marvellous service from Lucie, a huge professional, giving us a fantastic experience, always with a smile and polite.

He made our first visit a memorable one with his charm, wit, friendly and personable personality. This man knows his stuff and he knows the meaning of true hospitality. He remembered us, which is always a good thing. But he made our experience today even more memorable, I cannot thank you enough. You are the reason people will return time and time again. The food is second to none, perfectly cooked and perfectly presented each time. What’s not to love. 100% looking forward to the next visit.
