We went out for my daughters birthday with a parry of 10 people. We had to wait for the table even though we pre booked the table as it wasn't ready.. Then it took a while to order the first drinks. We had to ask for them. The food order was taken, and it took about 30-45 mins for the food to start coming out We were given the half lettuce with a topping and most of us started eating this as we were hungry. It took another 20 mins after for the mains to come out. Some of the food was cold. But most of the food was delicious. The steaks were tender, cooked well and delicious. We had all finished our food but it took ages to clean the table. I brought my daughter a cake for her birthday and I had to.ask for it to be brought out, the candles were not put on the cake. By this time I just couldn't bother to ask them for the candles. The restaurant wasn't even busy, there were a few other couples there but not overly busy. Not good service all in all and we asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill

Food is fine, but the service is slow and they weren't busy in my opinion. For a three course meal it took 3 hours ! That's an hour a course. Staff were pleasant and friendly just needed more organization on service.

We tried the new roast from here and it did not disappoint! The only let down was the potatoes, they were more like boiled potatoes than roast but still very tasty. All the meats were cooked to perfection of course, the gravy is one of the best I’ve ever tasted!!

Food was excellent, however service was slow, food was dropped on the floor and it took three waiters to walk past before it was picked up. There was a particularly young waiter that was extremely sarcastic and rude to my husband. I would go for the food but not for the experience as a whole.

We were away for my wife’s birthday for a few days and decided to go to miller and Carter Bath for the birthday meal. We had a reservation and were seen after a few minutes and the order taken quickly. It wasn’t busy at all with only a few other couples in. The drinks came after a few minutes but the salad wedge was over 40 minutes and mine was brown on the edges. The mains were average at best. The onion loaf I think was cooked with a blow torch and burnt badly, the baby potatoes were not great and the steak very tough and fatty. The waitress didn’t check and make sure things were ok or we would have said but after waiting an hour nearly we had lost faith. We have been to many miller and carters and this one I unfortunately have to say is not the best. Maybe an off night but really wish I had read the previous reviews and not spent £90 on a really average meal for a birthday meal for 2!

Visited midweek - was not busy, in fact for most of our visit, we were our waitress’ only customer. Onion loaf was burnt, fries over cooked, salt all over our table and the table next to us. Most of the staff just stood at the back of the restaurant by the kitchen chatting.

Terrible! We arrived early and the lady was very nice and apologetic that she wouldn’t be able to seat us yet, we were ok with that obviously and asked if we could get a drink from the bar. She said we could but we found that nobody was serving. After a wait the same lady served us the 3 Prosecco that was part of the set menu but ignored my child and we had to stop her to ask for a drink for them. We were shown to our table and told X waiter would be over shortly. When we were served drinks at our table they took a while to arrive. When ordering another single drink it failed to arrive. We were ordering from a set menu at £62 per head. We’re told when we asked the waiter that we do have to order all three courses. Starters arrived ok, except that we asked for no cheese on a child’s garlic bread and ok’d with the waiter but it arrived with cheese on. Then the waiter removed 3 of the 4 plates whilst the 4th plate was still being eaten. Starters were nice. The iceberg wedge with sauce that was part of an adult steak meal was served a considerable time (approx 20mins) before the steaks arrived, whilst the remaining starter plate and numerous used glasses were left on the the table and were still on the table when the the mains were being served. The cutlery and napkins weren’t replaced and we had to point that out. Only cutlery was offered. We had to ask for the removal of empty used glasses. Two of the three steaks (one steak was for our child) were luke warm and the other steak was cold. The chips were also cold and obviously had been sat waiting to be served for a while. Some of the vegetables seemed past their best. The cod loin was nice but not overly hot when served. The cauliflower cheese had a funny twang to it. We made the waiter aware of my husbands cold steak and chips and he was happy to get those replaced. The replacement steak arrived with no cutlery or chips. After waiting for some time again, I approached the waiter to ask to speak to management, I complained to the waiter and voiced that the service we have received was terrible. Both the waiter and the manager I spoke too didn’t voice any acceptance of the poor service. The waiter was extremely unprofessional and stormed off waving his hand about, the manager approached us at this time but instead of talking to me first she went after her waiter…I stood waiting for her. When we first arrived she was the one who greeted us and was very pleasant and polite, so I did specify this before I explained my situation but her attitude immediately changed and she wasn’t particularly apologetic. The manager came to the table was told about the lack of cutlery, that the chips hadn’t arrived and could he please have the drink of lemonade and lime he asked for…she returned asking what drink it was he wanted when he had already just told her. We didn’t order dessert as by this time we had complained and considering the manner of which the complaint was received by the waiter and how the lady manager had also become quite defensive and short with us we had had enough and wanted to leave. Another waitress was assigned to clear our table. We asked for the bill that the manager brought over with a discount but upon checking the bill the £20 per head deposit I had paid when booking online because it was required hadn’t been taken off the bill so when another member of staff approached us for payment we pointed this out and she apologised, went away and came back with the £80 deposit taken off. In all we paid our deposit and around £19 for drinks and left the restaurant. It was an absolutely shocking experience and not just a couple of issues but the whole experience was a complete mess. Considering we were celebrating New Year’s Eve with a set menu at quite a cost per head in an establishment with what we thought had a good reputation we are utterly disappointed and disgusted, they also have unisex toilets that I personally dislike and disagree with. We will never return to a Miller & Carter.

Honestly just a bad experience all round. Never been Miller & Carter before and wont come back. Jon, who seated and served us was lovely, but seemed to be the only person working the area, which had all the populated tables in, without support from any other team members. Our starters of cauliflower wings and prawn cocktail were unfortunately very cold, as if cooked from frozen. And took 30 minutes to be cleared once finished, only happening when we decided to clear the table ourselves. The mains then came instantly and had obviously been sat in the kitchen during our 30 min wait, as were also cold and a bit sorry for themselves. Steak in burger definitely not rare and food pretty tasteless. Would go elsewhere if looking to eat in Bath!

Booked for the new year menu, but our first waitress told us only the gluten-free option was available as the delivery didn't turn up. She was also telling the table next to us about how awful the place was. After our starters that were very good, we saw people being seated with new year menus and when we asked why we were then told, it was only available 5pm. This wasn't stated online when booking or on any posters outside. After an hour of booking we had a new waiter who had to tell us some of our orders were no longer available. This waiter ws doing his very best all night, and we couldn't fault him at all. We were served our mains by a different young man who had no idea what dish he was serving to us. We had to work that out for ourselves. The steak was cooked well, but our onion loaf was hollow and over cooked. Dessert was by far the worst thing we have ever eaten. There was a slight burnt taste at first, but as we discovered, the whole middle was so burnt and as hard as concrete. It was disgusting. We saw our poor waiter having to deal with so many complaints he left upset. We had the desert removed from the bill with an extra £6 off and told it was just that time of year to come back when it's quiet! We tipped our waiter as we left because he was doing the best he could with not much support. We left sovery disappointed.

Great service, superb food and lovely atmosphere was what we experienced on Christmas Day. Both Leanne & Shannon were great with all the pre booking and the restaurant did not let us down. Me and my boyfriend came here for a late lunch and it was not disappointing whatsoever! After being recommended this place a thousand times by my friend, we thought we’d try. Firstly, the staff were so welcoming. Me and my boyfriend booked for 3pm and ended up arriving at half 3 due to traffic, however they were more than happy to accommodate us!! Our server John (i believe that was his name!) was so friendly and very attentive, he made us feel very welcome. He was also very happy to ask the chefs to speed up our dishes as we had been running late at that point, so definitely deserves recognition!! As a hospitality worker, it’s nice to see other servers show that they enjoy their line of work. The food was just divine. We had ordered the half roast chicken with chorizo and the lamb as well as mac and cheese on the side, wow wow wow!! The portion sizes were just perfect as well. Will definitely be back here again, thanks so much for a great Sunday lunch.

Food took a long time to come out and they wasn't that busy. When the food did come out they forgot a peppercorn sauce but trying to find any staff that was walking past was impossible. They were all just stood in one area. Finally one came by and we managed to get the sauce. Once finished we waited about 25 minutes and no one had turned up. In the end I went to the bar and asked for the bill, got told to sit down and the server will come over. They came over but couldn't give me my bill as there was an issue with the printers. Really disappointed as we have been to a few of the Miller and Carter restaurants and they have been amazing. Maybe this one was just having an off day..

I want to start this review by saying that the service we received from Tilly was absolutely fantastic, and the food was great as always. You’ve also been amazing at accommodating my coeliac brother, which we really appreciate. However, I’m afraid this is where the positives end. On 12/12/24, myself and three flatmates went out for dinner to celebrate our house Christmas meal and the end of the university semester. What we were met with was a 10-minute wait at the door and long delays for both food and drinks. I want to be absolutely clear—this was not the fault of the staff on shift. They were working tirelessly, remained professional and apologetic throughout, and clearly did everything they could under the circumstances. Having all worked in hospitality ourselves, we couldn’t help but notice the glaring lack of support from management. It’s no secret that the Bath Christmas markets bring an incredibly busy and high-demand period, yet your team was visibly understaffed. This isn’t just an oversight—it’s unacceptable. Failing to properly staff your team for such a predictable rush leaves them to pick up the pieces, working twice as hard for the same pay and likely fewer tips due to the reduced guest experience. The issue doesn’t stop there. Learning that card tips don’t fully go to the staff is appalling. These workers are the face of your business, bending over backwards to deliver the best experience possible under immense pressure, yet they’re denied the full reward of their hard-earned tips. It’s demoralizing for staff and disappointing for customers who want to show their appreciation directly to those who served them. This was meant to be a festive, celebratory evening, but instead, we couldn’t help but feel sorry for the incredible team who were left to fend for themselves without proper management support. Hospitality workers deserve better, and as customers, we expect more from a venue like this. Your staff are brilliant, but it’s clear that management needs to step up and provide the resources, support, and fair policies they deserve.

Visited Miller & Carter Bath today,it is something we do every year, visit the Christmas Market, then luch here, it has always been 1 of our favourite places! Today was very different, the service was awful! The girl wasn't a little bit interested in us, looking around the restaurant when we were speaking to her, rolled her eyes at requests, insisted on calling my husband darling everytime she spoke to him. Didn't ask us if we needed anything else, just dumped the food on the table and left. And most annoying of all, making me feel really silly for the things i was doing, like finding my voucher for a glass of prosecco, when my card wouldnt work in the machine, I felt like a little girl! Not an enjoyable experience, such a shame!

I visited the restaurant at 7:20 PM and asked a staff member if there was a table available. The woman I spoke to curtly informed me that no tables were available until 9:15 PM. However, upon checking your website, I discovered that there was plenty of availability for much earlier times. To confirm this, I managed to book a table for 7:30 PM online. It was clear that the staff member had deliberately misinformed me, which I find unacceptable. Throughout the evening, she avoided making eye contact because she knew she’d be caught out in a lie. I felt extremely discriminated against and feel as if she only said no because of the way we looked.

Came to Bath for Xmas Market again, always come to Miller & Carter for a nice meal and it is always nice, the only thing which was very disappointing is i had the ribs and i was given no hot water&towel or a hand wipe to clean my hands just serviettes which are a waste of time!!. Luckily i took a Angus Steak house hand wipe from London with me. Just a little more effort would be appreciated.

Can't comment on the food as we arrived approx 7pm on a reasonably quiet Tuesday evening to stand by the entrance for 5mins - we were apparently invisible to several members of staff who walked past us - we then asked someone if we could go and sit down but were told we had to wait for the the Maitre Dee( who was unavailable due to "processing a delivery downstairs ') at this point we left and went to The Colossus which was fabulous !

If I could give 0 stars for this restaurant I would. Me and my family of 7 visited this restaurant on a trip. We had this booked for months. Upon arrival we was told that there was no burgers, no turkey, no ribs. When asking why this was, Olivia advised that they had under ordered and apologised and offered a 10 percent discount. When we then went to order we was then told that there was no sea bass. Which then Shannon the ‘manager’ came and advised us that she had now ‘sourced’ miraculously the turkey and seabass and we were no longer able to be issued the 10 percent off. After 40 mins of being told one minute they had something and another minute they hadn’t. Shannon the ‘manager’ advised that we were trying to argue with her. The attitude of Shannon the ‘manager’ was atrocious. I am very dissapointed with this restaurant. Me and my family ended up leaving. I have been to other Miller and Carters and have never experienced anything like this. I think the Manager may need more training.

Miller and Carter if your listening then do your reputation a favour and FIRE the manager SHANNON for poor customer services skills or promote her to card board controller/cleaner. I sincerely believe she would suit this role much better than dealing with your customers.....I would promote Olivia to replace SHANNON as Olivia has some outstanding customer service skills. Had Olivia continued to serve us then my family of 7 would have stayed and enjoyed spending our money in your Bath restaurant. Unfortunately after meeting Shannon I simply could not bare to look at her face. I can't comment on the food. I didn't get to sample any. WE LOVE OLIVIA ❤️

We ate here today and it is our go to place for food in Bath. The food is always amazing and the restaurant itself is great and has a very good atmosphere. We were served by a very friendly girl called Izzy, who looked after us really well, was super attentive and made us feel very welcome. The experience was awful , table wasnt ready when we arrived, we were then sat by a very cold drafty wall . The drinks arrived as we finished our starters, my halluomi was over cooked and very cold so was replaced, the steak and chips arrived , steaks cold, onion loaf cold and fries cold , only things hot were my chips and gravy, when they returned the steaks after reheating they wre still cold !! very disappointing. Wouldn’t return to Bath in future.

Had a lovely meal here tonight. I would like to say thank you to all the staff who were all very efficient, friendly and very helpful. Jordan cooked our steaks to perfection, Lucy our waitress who was simply brilliant. Thank you also to the manager (sorry I don't know your name). Went last night , had a burger was overcooked , French fries could of done with a few minutes more , so main meal disappointing .Hallomi fries was lovely and brownie for dessert really nice .Service was a bit slow but was really busy .Disappointed lift our of order I had to tackle 3 flights of steps to visit toilet with osteoarthritis in hips and knees .

Great food, service and atmosphere! The food was delicious, well-presented, and well-portioned. The seats were cosy and the music was pleasant and not too loud. The staff were friendly, attentive and never made us feel rushed in any way. Top recommendations: calamari, sticky chipotle wings, steak sandwich, brownie. My partner and I had the lunch menus, which were great value for money. The starters looked and smelled so good that we were halfway through them before we remembered to take a photo! The meat in the steak sandwich was tender and flavourful, and the beef dripping sauce complemented it perfectly. I don't normally comment on chips but these were especially good. The rump steak was seasoned well and cooked perfectly (medium), and the béarnaise sauce was spot-on. However, my personal opinion is that the beef drippings sauce pairs better with the steak. I had the mini dessert + drink and the brownie portion was sizeable for its 'mini' status. The brownie was perfect - rich and decadently fudgy. While the profiteroles were nice and fluffy with fresh cream, we personally found the combination of the salted caramel and the chocolate sauce a tad bit too sweet (but couldn't stop eating the chocolate sauce because it was yummy!).

Wandered into this Steak House in Bath looking for anything but steak, really, and pleased to see the menu had some lovely alternative options. Served by Izzy F, who was attentive and courteous at all times, and seemed to appear at just the right time! The food itself was delicious, with good aromas and appetising variety, cooked in a pleasing and visually good way by Vicky. I will return!

Came here tonight for our anniversary meal. We were served by Jon, who looked after us so well. We got the impression he hadn't been here long, however he was so efficient and friendly, with good humour, he really made our visit. Our Steaks were cooked perfectly by Jordan. Calamari was bland. Tasty steak, nice fries, under cooked tomato (IMO). Desert was amazing (salted caramel profiteroles! Service a bit slow but I just wanted a quick bit of food. So probably just me. Lovely place to eat though.

The restaurant was almost empty yet there was no one to greet us for what seemed a long time. The service was not seamless. Our waiter was great but no one else seemed to want to assist him or if they did they were sullen which was disappointing. The main issue was the foot. It was awful. My medium steak was served well done then remade and served blue. The manager offered to sear it a little more to get it medium rare. I just left it - the wait was too long and actually I chose Miller and Carter because I felt they could my streak right first time

Had an early evening dinner reservation on a Saturday, celebrating my wife’s birthday. Arrived early and wanted a drink at the bar before sitting down. Manager constantly bugged us to sit down, 20 minutes earlier than booked - Very Annoying. Dinner was ok, waitress was great, food trimmings were adequate but appeared to be what was left in a busy period. After eating our steaks, the manager was immediately on us asking if we wanted a pudding. When we said no he asked us to go and finish our drinks at the bar! We were ushered away from the table and when we got to the bar, there was no where to sit. We ended up standing in a corner finishing our drinks (half a bottle of pretty expensive wine). When we left we were ignored by the manager, who was at the reception desk. Overall a very disappointing experience and not what I had hoped for my wife’s birthday. Will not be returning.

First time at M and C today and we found it pleasant. The food was perfect and everything cooked to perfection. We had the Sunday sharing board and I would really recommend it! It’s a great spin on a traditional roast and we loved it. My son had the burger which he really enjoyed. I have to admit, the service we received after being seated was rather slow. Drinks did take longer than expected. We did order a bottle Of wine prior to our mains arriving and we had to re order half way through the main course, which was a little frustrating as wasn’t that busy. However, the lady that did seat us originally was very lovely and complimented me on my flowers that I had bought to go in the house, I went to leave and I actually ended up turning round and giving her one of the bouquets I had bought. Her reaction said it all. I don’t know her name but hopefully she will read the review and know who we are. Enjoy the flowers and we will be back!

Do not order from here if you have Vegan/Veg requirements. Last night we ordered 2 Vegan burgers on UBER Eats, and 2 chicken burgers arrived. Innocent mistake perhaps? NO. We ordered again, 2 vegan burgers, and again 2 chicken burgers arrived. This is dreadful and disgusting. After waiting all evening for food that can't be eaten, you need to do better.
