Stayed at the Millbrook for 8 nights. I want to thank Gerty and all the team for a wonderful experience. Breakfast was excellent as living in Italy I do miss an Irish breakfast every so often. We used the restaurant a few times and food was amazing. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed walking around. Only one problem, wish we could have stayed longer. Kate and Luciano

ON THE 30TH MARCH MY WIFE AND I HAD EVENING DINNER AT GILMORE RESTAURAN, I HAD RIB OF BEEF AND ORDERED PEAS AS AN EXTRA,MY WIFE HAD ROAST OF THE DAY WHICH WAS TURKEY AND HAM. WHEN MY MEAL ARRIVED IT CONSISTED OF A SMALL PIECE OF STRINGY MEAT PARTIALLY BURNT, WITH A LARGE BARE BONE APPROX, 100CM LONG BY 30 CM WIDE ON TOP OF THE MEAT. I ASKED THE WAITER THE REASON FOR THIS BONE AND HE SAID IT WAS FOR DECORATION, I WAS TOLD THAT NO PEAS WERE AVAILABLE. MY MEAL CONSISTED OF A PIECE OF STRINGY MEAT AND MASHED POTATOES NO VEGETABLES AND NO ROAST POTATOES. THE WAITER OFFERED TO REPLACE THE MEAL AND I REFUSED, THE REASON BEING IF THE CHEF COULDN'T COOK A PIECE OF MEAT AS DESCRIBED ON THE MENU THERE WAS NO POINT. MY WIFES MEAL CONSISTING OFF, ONE THIN PIECE OF OVERCOOKED TURKEY AND HAM 90 PER CENT OF THE MEAL CONSISTED OF VEGETABLES WITH A WHOLE CARROT CUT IN HALF ACCROSS THE MEAL. I CONTACTED THE HOTEL THE FOLLOWINF MONDAY AND SPOKE TO SIOBHAN WHO SAID FIONA IS THE MANGER AND WOULD MAKE CONTACT ME, THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED. WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE MEAL AS WE HAVE BEEN REGULAR CUSTOMERS WITH THE MILLBROOK FOR MANY YEARS. GEORGE & PHYLLIS .

We went here for mothers day lunch and it did not disappoint. They were incredibly busy so we were ten minutes late getting our table but they were super apologetic. My mother in law and I had prawn cocktail to start which had small bits of red onion, tomato, lettuce and avocado- it was absolutely delicious and well seasoned. My husband had the pancetta Caesar salad which was lovely. We had roast been and the rolled chicken in peppercorn sauce - the portion sizes much too big, could have easily halved the amount and it would still have been too much. My husband and mother in law had apple crumble and passion fruit cheesecake for dessert. The Malbec wine was really nice too. Overall fabulous experience, friendly atmosphere and the staff are always so friendly. Everywhere was spotless too

Stayed here for 2 nights with my daddy for the weekend foodie experience. I am gluten, dairy and egg intolerant and find it hard to find hotels and restaurants who cater for me properly without my food looking extremely inferior to everyone around me. Dinner on the first evening - I had no problems getting a 3 course meal and the food was fantastic. Second day afternoon tea there are no words to describe how amazing it was. I think I was in shock when it was brought out as it was outstanding. Massive appreciation to the chef who did a lot of research and made me the best afternoon tea/food I’ve ever had in Northern Ireland. I would 100% recommend this hotel if you have any sort of allergies because I was so well looked after. The decor in the restaurant is also really lovely and modern with nice views over the garden.

We had selected the Milbrook Lodge Hotel to host our daughters wedding and we were not disappointed . The welcome from the staff and attention to detail was superb. The quality of food and the venue itself for the wedding meal, evening party and grounds for photographs were second to none. Many guests stayed over and found the rooms of high quality, clean and comfortable . We would recommend the Milbrook as 5 Stars as everything was top notch .

Called in for late lunch/early dinner on a Thursday afternoon. Gilmore’s restaurant was quiet so service was quick. The staff were attentive and friendly. We ate from the dinner menu. Portions were good and all the food was well cooked and well presented. We had mains of steak sandwich and grilled lamb. My wife followed with the cheese board while I was delighted with my apple and cinnamon crumble. Very pleasant surroundings, attentive staff, good food and good value for money.

Form the first seconds in this lodge it was very apparent that very few of the hotel staff had been trained in hospital from the the front of house right up till what I have been told was a general manager, this lady played the host and toast master at the wedding I was attending, she was sour faced and very rude to quite a few of the guests just unacceptable behaviour, the bar staff seemed miserable and the children brought in to serve the meal just weren't sure what they were doing ! Not their fault. The meal was of a poor standard could not describe the soup and the turkey was reheated and not very enjoyable, The only positive in the whole experance was the lady in the breakfast room she was lovely. I wish we had of went to a reputable hotel.

I went to the Millbrook on Tuesday for an early dinner. Nice surroundings and the waitress Was very attentive. I felt the menu was somewhat restrictive but opted for a traditional turkey...ham roast dinner. The dinner arrived promptly....but very disappointed. Turkey was very dry as was the ham and stuffing. LARGE scoop of mashed potatoes and overall a very poor offering. When paying for the meal I was asked if everything was satisfactory and I said no. There were apologises and very sorries etc and we will get the manager to ring you.... I explained that I would never complain and that my reviews on trip adviser were always positive but the meal was not great and that would get better from a local garage carvery! I went to Coulters a restaurant in Ballynahinch the next day and the food was outstanding. Millbrook I'll not be back....

My daughters wedding venue... I found the staff great.. The place is beautiful and plenty of light in the reception rooms... The wedding meal was great and my hat of to the chef as I have never tasted a more tender piece of meat.. The soup, the sweet was fantastic.. And the next day the breakfast was great. Buffet and I loved it and the little lady that nothing was a problem lightened up the day.... I would certainly recommend this venue for your wedding, really I was so happy with them.. There is only one thing that goes against the hotel and it comes from my daughter and her mother in law.. She was actually sold on this place by a guy called Damien who was the wedding planner for the hotel, made them feel so relaxed and nothing could not be worked out... Seems he had left and the women who took over stressed my daughter no end.. From asking for more money as she was on the wrong tariff but she was on the right one, to saying that what was agreed for the children staying in some rooms had to be changed and even sent an email of b@b in the area.. So some guests could not come.. Another one was demanding that everything be out before 6 the next morning as it had been booked for another event, which as we all know that is certainly not viable for a wedding and not letting the flower arrangers down the day before as an event had been booked but my daughter was assured that she had the day before for the organisers to make it just right for her... So a last minute job was done that night... I do not know what that wedding planners name is but I would say if you do book get everything in righting and make her stick to it... From a guy called Damien who made my daughter overjoyed and relaxed and helpful to a women who it seems had my daughter in tears at times and done everything to change what was already agreed.. I know this part is long winded but I am annoyed that I find this out after the wedding how 1 person stressed her big day no end..

Beautiful hotel. There was only 1 person on reception checking people in and answering the phone. This caused delays due to COVID checks. The dining room was beautifully decorated. The staff were friendly but some serving drinks were inexperienced. I feel the menu would have benefited by being reduced from 7 courses to 5. ( remove canapes & petit fours) The soup was delicious and the melon refreshing. Unfortunately the main was crowded on the plate. My ham was half fat, the beef a bit tough but the turkey was good. The vegetables were hard, the roast looked like they had never seen an oven and the bacon wrapped stuffing needed to be crisper. The trio of desserts were good. Overall the experience was disappointing considering the cost of 95 pounds per head.

Ordered Korean Chicken - when it arrived I got 6 or 7 very small peices of burn chicken and whilst the flavours of the over all dish was ok overall poor. my friends ordered seafood pie topped with cream potatoes and both need to look for the fish in the pie!! - served with 2 roasted potatoes surprising why?. No beautiful hot summer evening!! Don’t know what’s happening. We did ask for an alternative and chef made salmon. It was good nice chive sauce and green beans. Millbrook please put a bit more imagination into your menu. Some salads, fish and sides. No sides on offer at all. I like to fill my plate with veg so that was a lost opportunity. We booked a master suite but instead because it was our anniversary they gave us the honeymoon suite. They provided a bottle of presecco to help us celebrate and even wrote happy anniversary on our dessert. The food was outstanding, the room was beautiful, the staff were all so lovely, friendly and welcoming. To top it off they then let us have a later checkout. All of this is what makes Millbrook so special and I would advise anyone to not only get married here but just go and give the food try. We loved it that much my in-laws came and met us on the Sunday and we all went to the carvery. Special shout out to Anne the receptionist she was especially fab.

My wife and I eat here regularly, usually on a Sunday evening. There are no parking problems here which makes it very convenient. The outside of the front of the hotel and function rooms have been largely and recently renovated. These create a more up market atmosphere as they have all been done very tastefully. The menus are fairly comprehensive containing fish, fowl and meat. However, there is a tendency to "have chips with everything" so we would rate the food as being good quality but unimaginative. The service is always first class, friendly and efficient. We have never had a bad meal here and indeed are very happy to return. Children are catered for with their own menus. This is a good solid Ulster eatery that is very welcoming.

Just been to the Millbrook for the day...the food was good, but the service was unbearable. Where to start?! We had to order our own drinks to start with...we weren't brought menus, they didn't take our orders, when the food did come items were missing, the appropriate culturally was not supplied and when it did come the food was cold. When we expressed our views to the manager she want overly fussed and blamed the kitchen staff and the restaurant being 'busy'. If the restaurant was busy to them the staff didn't work to the busyness of the shift and we're working so unbelievably slow. We were there for over 3 hours!!! If the service was up to standard we would have been out within an hour and half. As I say the food was excellent, all be it, some items were very small. The decor was nice. Unfortunately the staff were that bad I didn't think I would advice anyone to go there unless they have at least a day to spare and order before they get hungry.

I visited the millbrook today with my family for the Sunday carvery for my sons birthday. On arrival I spoke to the receptionist and explained that my youngest son who has just turned 6 was autistic and wouldn't eat the carvery and if he was to eat anything at all it would be a spoonful of potato with gravy and asked if it would be possible to just pay for that as I wasn't prepared to pay the £7.95 for a child over the age of 5 for one spoon of potatoes. The receptionist told me to go to the dining hall and speak to the manager. We where brought into the dining hall when I spoke to one of the waitresses and again explained the situation who said she would speak to the manager. The decision was made that if my son was to sit at the table with us I would have to pay the £7.95 even if he wasn't going to eat. I spoke myself to the manager again to explain that my son was autistic and wouldn't eat anything and she was adamant that because he was over 5 that the money had to be paid. I explained to her that he only turned 6, 3 days ago but still she wouldn't budge. After a heated discussion and with me threatening to take my party of 8 adults and 4 children elsewhere she agreed to waver the charge this one time. By this stage I was so annoyed with their attitude to special circumstances, that I couldn't enjoy my food. The attitude of this manager and the upset caused to my party ruined a day that was to celebrate my sons birthday and our family afternoon out.

My wife and I had the pleasure of holding our wedding reception in the Millbrook Lodge on 29th August 2015. From the moment we arrived at the hotel and meet Deborah (hotel wedding planner), we knew this was the place as Deborah was so friendly and accommodating to our needs. On the big day, when we arrived we were greeted by Deborah at the front door who couldnt do enough for us, this theme continued throughout the day. During our wedding photos on the hotel grounds (which were perfect) we experienced a small drop of rain - the only reason we knew it was going to rain was Deborah arrived for large umbrellas for the bridal party before the rain started. Our wedding meal was fantastic and pleased a lot of 'fussy eaters'. We enjoyed our meal so much on the day that we have returned a few occasions for an evening meal. During the evening is when I (the groom) noticed the difference a great wedding planner makes. Deborah had spoken to both sets of parents and removed all treasured wedding items away to a locked room, she also took full responsibility of signing and locking away all envelope gifts ( which was relieving a burden from fathers of groom / bride). She also kept close to my wife during the evening, ensuring she was comfortable at all times and fetched her flat shoes and helped fit them during the night - a small touch which meant the world to my wife as it allowed her to continue to spend time with her family and friends without leaving the main room. What impressed me was the hotel food during the meal and the evening reception was fantastic and more than enough - especially with my 'hungry' mates. The hotel also brought sandwich's to the residents bar and kept everyone comfortable after hours. I was particularly pleased to arrive to our bridal suite to find sandwich's and wedding cake for my wife and I.The bridal suite was first class. Both of us where very comfortable and refreshed the next morning following a long day before. If anyone reading this is thinking of booking their big day at the Millbrook with Deborah we would recommended you have no second thoughts and book it.It was the perfect venue with the perfect host in Deborah. Deborah - my wife and I were delighted when we got home to find you had personally signed our wedding guest tree. It was a touch of class.Thank you Millbrook and Deborah and her staff *****Christina & Paddy

I had my wedding here on 4th July! It was a fantastic day and the staff at Millbrook couldn't have don't more! Gemma was only new into the place but it was as if she had been there forever. Brilliant co ordinator! The food was perfect not a single complaint from anyone and knowing my family that's a miracle! The staff kept all our wedding gifts locked in a safe room and we where able to get the key any time we asked. The only downside was the rain! But unfortunately Millbrook staff couldn't do anything about that! The grounds where beautiful and perfect for taking some pictures in(in between showers) I Highly recommend to anyone. My family booked out all the rooms the night of the wedding and no complaints about the rooms or the breakfast either. Everything cooked to order for breakfast so fresh and tasty. I Have also been in the Gilmore restaurant for lunch several times and the food has always been brilliant! 5*

We've been here a couple of times for a Sunday Carvery and I have to say, it's fantastic!!The Carvery here isn't the cheapest you'll ever experience but it's one of the best I've had in Northern Ireland - the selection of Starters and Deserts in particular is just immense! Not only that, it's an "all you can eat" affair so you can go up as many times as you like and have as much as you like - you can even have desert first if you like! There is plenty of parking and the dining room is spacious and you don't feel shoe-horned in like you do in some places - this is something I really appreciate. If you have a special occasion and would like to go for a Carvery, this is the place to go.One useful tip is that Drinks are VERY expensive and really add to the cost of the meal (particularly soft drinks if you have kids with you) so a good tip is to get a couple of jugs of juice for the table - it sounds cheap but it will save you a fortune and makes a big difference to the bill at the end so you don't feel like you've paid over the odds after a lovely meal.Downsides? Well, it would be nice if it was a few quid cheaper but hey, you get what you pay for so maybe the price is right - I will certainly be back!Enjoy!

The Millbrook is set in pleasant surroundings and the dining room is quite grand. We had the Sunday carvery and the food was delicious and lots to choose from. The puddings in particular were delicious with something for everyone. The staff were polite, friendly and efficient, the whole experience was enjoyable.

Started here overnight with a colleague as all hotels in Belfast were full. Hotel has been fitted out well, has lovely grounds and friendly staff; however it is key down by its food. For evening meal, I chose the roast beef. This was clearly reheated from a few days old roast, and was touch as old boots. This was followed by apple crumble which was OK, but very sweet, and those from a number of pub chains are better. Breakfast was the worst, with my colleague being served mouldy toast

We were traveling around Northern Ireland recently, taking our time & pretty much aimlessly wandering, when we came across Millbrook Lodge Hotel. We hadn't booked, just drove up on a whim, requested accommodation for 3 adults & 2 children & ended up with 2 double rooms (one room had an extra trundle bed brought in for the night ' which was done quickly & efficiently ) Check in was straightforward, rooms were recently refurbished, bright, airy & relatively spacious. Bathroom was fine, clean & what you would expect for the price we paid. Only thing that screamed "must try harder" were the light blinds and absence of curtains . Most hotels use a black-out type lining /backing with their drapes which is great for keeping the light out & helping guests get a good night's sleep. Millbrook only had light blinds & We were woken bright & early by the light steaming through the windows in the early morning. In addition, we could hear the television from the room next to us when it was turned on - not blaringly loud but certainly very audible. We stayed on a Tuesday night & there was a private function taking place - we had noticed that the car park was very full when we arrived. There were no noise issues from the function until the attendees were leaving late that night. As we had rooms at the front of the hotel there was a lot of noise from people walking past & cars driving out once if finished. We had dinner at the hotel which was very well presented & tasty & good value for money.Breakfast the next morning was a bit of a disappointment to be honest. There is no menu, a cooked breakfast is the only option offered & although we came down over 45 mins before breakfast was supposed to finish - there was no continental breakfast option ( empty platters on the buffet table indicated that there may have been but they were not replenished). The buffet table was also cleared away while we were still eating our cooked breakfasts (still well before breakfast was due to finish) which meant cereal, juice & whatever the mysterious empty plates had contained etc wasn't available. I'm sure we could have asked the waitress for some, but we shouldn't have had to. But again, as there was no menu we didn't know what the options were. All in all, it was a mainly pleasant stay. There are some issues to be addressed but you get what you pay for.

I had my wedding reception here on the 1st July 2016. I have to say from start to finish the staff were fantastic. Gemma who's first day as a wedding planner with the Millbrook could not have done better. I would recommend the Millbrook to all of my family and friends without hesitation. As I cannot take any credit on planning the wedding, my wife reassured that the Millbrook were fantastic during preparations. I would like to thank all involved for everything we had the best day ever.

Iused to use this Hotel quite alot years ago and saw many improvements and changes over the years, but this time not so good. A lot of money spend here needlessly and boy are we paying for it. Very expensive indeed on a par with top city hotel prices, maybe more so. Food was ok, but when I order a burger for a tenner, I really want a burger. It was to say the least but I wont be back. Went for a treat for my Mum and Dad (Family of 5) and only had 1 course and very little change from £100. We had only one mineral each as well. No thanks!!!

There were 17 in our party so the carvery was ideal as everyone could choose what they wanted to eat and there was a wide choice. It is £22 per adult for 5 courses. The staff were friendly and efficient and the surroundings were lovely. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and would go again in the future.

Popped in for some dinner around 6/7pm on Easter Monday on the off chance and asked receptionist on front desk if there were any tables available for myself, partner and 4 year old daughter after a long day trip in Newcastle and around Co. Down area. It was indeed impromptu and appreciate it was Easter Monday, but the attitude of the receptionist was appalling - she shook her heads at us so repeatedly that I had to actually ask her 'sorry, what?'- because she refused to use her words to tell us there were no tables available (not that she looked- cancellations, squeeze us in?)....she just shook her head like a petulant toddler.....Ridiculous behaviour from a customer service representative sitting at your front of house and as a PR Manager in the hospitality industry, I can only feel incredibly disappointed at this service.Just to make you aware- we travelled on into Hillsborough and were also met with a full restaurant but the host tried to work with us and apologised profusely for not being able to accommodate and stated 'he'd hope to see us again.' Makes all the difference!!!

We attended a wedding here just yesterday and just arrived home. Absolutely loved it. Great venue for a wedding, lovely hotel. Friendly staff, and we even got a free upgrade to a master suite! The meal and the buffet food in the evening were both amazing. The room was spacious and with the comfiest bed ever, big bathroom and great shower. We ordered breakfast to our room which was only 3.50 each. I think they forgot about us until I rang reception but it was gorgeous when it did come. Lovely grounds though we didn't get to see them properly. I'd absolutely stay here again.

Milbrook lodge has recently carried out significant renovations. In addition they have opened a Sunday Carvery.I visited on Sunday and was very impressed both by the new look AND by the Carvery. There were 5 courses for £19,95 with vegitable soup to start, as much beef, turkey and ham as you can eat and accompanied by various veg and potatoes.Next came cheese followed by desert then teaEverything was cooked to perfection and all 5 of us considered the experience as superb. Staff were friendly and helpfulWe will definitely be back and would recommend it to everyone

Visited here with my hubby and my parents for Sunday lunch. We opted not to have the Carvery as we didn't think we could eat 4 courses. The food was lovely and the staff attentive. It was pricey enough though for what we had so we will go back and have the Carvery as it would seem to be better value

I went to the millbrook lodges new "Gilmore restaurant" twice this week. I was very impressed with the new decor and menu. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and courteous and I really enjoyed it. The menu is slightly more expensive however the quality and standard of the food is extremely high. I had prawn starter which was very good and fresh. It is difficult to find prawns that aren't just out of the freezer and onto the plate, these ones are proper fresh prawns and delicious. I would highly recommend this newly refurbished restaurant to everyone and will definitely be back. Maybe 3 times in one week is slightly too many but tempted to go back tonight!! Thank you millbrook!

Have enjoyed som reasonably good meals here so took some friends for a sirloin steak. Turned out the steaks looked well but lacked any taste. I also thought £3 each to add a simple pepper sauce was a bit too much bearing in mind that you have to pay for every side individually. Compare this to nearby restaurants and you would pay less and have a more satisfying meal. Overall a nice place and nice staff. I would still go back as lunch is usually good but if I want to entertain my friends for an evening I would look elsewhere. If you present a strong image it needs to be backed up!

A big thank you to all the staff at the Millbrook Lodge the venue for our daughter Samantha's Wedding on Wednesday 6 January 2016. If any one is reading this review and has booked the Millbrook Lodge for their wedding you are in for a treat. The wedding planner Deborah is a true professional and takes care of everything making the whole day run so smoothly from start to finish and nothing is to much trouble with Deborah there to guide you through the day.The owner Gerty is amazing and takes pride in assuring that everything is right and bends over backwards to accommodate you and your guests always confirming with you that you are satisfied with the arrangements and making sure that everyone feels special. The food is outstanding and in my opinion and that of my guests is truly 5 star and so a big thank you to the Chefs and all the waitering staff a fantastic job.The rooms are beautifully appointed and of a high standard we stayed in one of the master suites and it was like having your own apartment I didn't want to leave. I had a sneak look at the bridal suite which was amazing. I would like to thank everyone connected to the Millbrook Lodge Hotel for making Samantha and Aaron's wedding a very special day. Thank you so much Roger & Diane Bacon

We tried the hotel & restaurant earlier this summer & enjoyed the service in the restaurant, the decor & quality of the steak (albeit over cooked). This time, apart from friendly & willing service the food was poor. I ordered breaded scampi & it arrived battered. I was too tired to complain - in any event I NEVER complain in a restaurant & then proceed to eat in it.The batter was suitable heavy & the chunky chips were soft, pale & unappetising. The 'fresh' ingredients in my salad were decidedly tired & my colleague was also unimpressed with her food as well. It all smacked of pub grub I'm afraid so I am, alas, doing a 180 on my last review. A real bum note (from the hotel too), at least the restaurant service remained if a good standard.

Very therapeutic view of the Mournes from the room, and this hotel was very popular with the locals. Had some food: • Armagh bacon w/ egg mayo, garden salad • Roast Lamb leg w/ gravy, mint sauce, fried and boiled potatoes, steamed broccoli, cauliflower, carrots • Panna cotta w/ mixed berries (blackberries, raspberries), mint • Toast with orange marmalade, scrambled eggs, fruits
