I have been to Oakley fayre over a dozen times and it never fails. Firstly their breakfast is always amazing from Fry's to fancy french toast. Their lunch specials are really tasty as well and always top quality. You can also stop in and get a quick traybake, ice cream or coffee. They have the best selection of traybacks and bites to eat in Downpatrick. To top it all off the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Had coffee and cake which was great. The cafe has not changed in 10 years at least, needs overhauling. The so called music is dated boring and of ridiculously poor quality. Sitting near the door which groaned beyond belief each time it was opened. Next door sells WD40 you should buy some. They have a window sign Make it Local. I suggest you make it better. Of all the staff on duty none smiled even when I was most polite and smiling at them. The looked seriously bored with their job. Went to pay at the counter where the server made me feel invisible by staring in the till whilst I was paying never lifting her head or looking anywhere near me. Oakley Fayre you are not alone as many Downpatrick offer a similar second rate experience. Have you ever considered customer care training?. Surprise surprise nothing has changed for the better since I last visited on 2009. Any possibility you will take on board customer reviews even if you don’t like them.

This place is ok, I live in downpatrick, so have went a few times and everytime there has been something, never great service or order correct or over charged, specials are usually good, choice of soups are good, but at the till it seems not so special, I've had to return food, ask for assistance either to place order or return the order and question the bill, £4.50 for a 2 filling sandwich, when it cost only £5.95 for soup and a snadwich, seems random prices, never spent under 10 quid on any time ive been even coffee and bun!! I'm not recommending as I won't be back, get nicer cheaper and prices don't jump, very overpriced for a small deli cafe, esp when food isn't out of this world!!

Attracted to the Oakley Fayre by the flash back I got when I spotted it and remembered when I scraped the money together for a toasted sandwich on my lunch break from the local college many years ago. Now a little more affluent and in need of refreshment before I tackled my mothers shopping I ventured in. The cake counter was a sight to behold and I wanted one of everything. Looking at the menu I decided afternoon tea for one would meet all my needs for sustinence and carby treats. Seated and served promptly by a pleasant young girl I was soon looking at a pot of tea, a round of delicious goats cheese and roasted pepper sandwiches scone and cream plus two pretty cakes. All for the grand price of £7.25. Where I live you pay nearly £4 for a cappuccino. I shouldn’t have but I did almost finish it all off and delicious it was as well. Highly recommend and if your taste is leaning towards more savoury food there is a good selection of light lunches etc on the menu as well.

You can tell a good eatery by how busy it is and if you’re looking for a table for lunch in Oakley Fayre you would be wise to get there early. You will find friendly and efficient staff, many of whom have been here a long time, which is also a good sign. You will get a wide choice of tasty stuff and some daily specials. Last time my pal had crispy chicken gougons with salad and a basket of excellent chips which she greatly enjoyed and I had the bargain of any winter day - a big bowl of Oakley’s Irish stew. True comfort food with plenty of meat and tasty veg. They make great coffee too! As a diabetic I can’t comment on their sweet offerings but my 5 year old granddaughter rates them tops. It’s all great value for money too, probably because of the high turnover of customers they enjoy. So, why only 4 stars? Because it’s crowded, and the tables are so close together it’s hard to have a private conversation - in fact, you quite often find neighbours joining in, especially if you’re a local and a familiar face. Can be fun.

I went to this establishment for breakfast. The breakfast menu is extensive and caters for all diets. I ordered Eggs Benedict with bacon on Sour Bread. When it arrived it looked delicious . It was only when I was half way through eating the egg that I came across a large black curly hair in the middle of the dish. I was discreet about alerting the waitress so that other diners would not be put off. The waitress apologised and asked if I wanted another dish I refused. My problem comes when my mum went to pay for her porridge and 2 teas , the proprietor advised her that he didn’t know where the hair had come from and quite frankly was very dismissive of all concern. I certainly will not be back and that is based on the attitude not on the food. Perhaps he could take a leaf from his waitresses book.

Visited today for a quick coffee while shopping, along with 2 others. The coffee served was possibly the nicest Iv had in Downpatrick to date, along with a fresh scones. Slightly more expensive than i expected to pay, but didn't mind as the quality justified it

Excellent family run restaurant with bakery attached. I had breakfast there with a friend. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's possible to change an order slightly eg extra bacon and no sausages or just have tea and toast rather than a full breakfast. The food is freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Best place in Downpatrick for breakfast!

The food in Oakley fayre has gone downhill over the recent years, maybe it's just because they were very busy. It's still nice but there could be more variety. Their daily specials don't seem to change, think it's been East coast cod now since before Christmas. I would've went there fir lunch a few times a week but I've stopped as there isn't much variety anymore.

I have been a few times for lunch with girlfriend. Food on offer is simple but packs in flavor. Last outing my girlfriend had the usual steak sandwich which she adores. I had the southern friend chicken burger which was superb the spicy bbq sauce was delicious and the burger, bacon and cheese were all gorgeous. Their wedges were not what i was expecting but were amazing. Not so much a portion of generic frozen wedges but instead a large potato quartered and crisped wonderfully. Service is fast and very welcoming love eating here.

Oakley Fayre is a delightful coffee shop cum restaurant in the centre of Downpatrick. The food is delicious ,homemade and of a very high standard and the staff are kindness itself. The menu is varied and lunches are good wholesome freshly cooked food. Their soups are to die for... every day, at least one different tasting soup from the ordinary run of the mill offerings. As for the Thai chicken curry....wonderful!There are choices for everyones taste and that is its strength. It is a family run business that is a great asset to Downpatrick.

Managed to get a free table, as they are always busy and did not have to wait. Lunch was quickly served and was very good. Delicious Home made soup and really fresh sandwiches were quickly eaten. Noticed other customers being served really appetizing and interesting meals laid out in a very artistic and imaginative way . I have been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Great place to visit and enjoy the food and to bring some home-made goodies home from the shop counter.

Found the food to be really good, great selection for people who are looking a healthy option. When it comes to the service nobody should have to wait 20mins before they get served even it's just for a drink before they actually order for food. Also it would be nice if they smile and knowledge you nicely instead of being rude.

2 cups of coffee and a pot of tea with 1 scone - just over £12? A tad pricey. Very busy place. Toilet clean.

After a day out it was great to be able to phone in an order to be collected. The cod and cod strips were amazing. The chips portions were big. I’ve ordered from here before as they can do gluten-free
