Middleton Cheney Fish Bar in South Northamptonshire

Ordered for collection. When we got home one meal missing . Food tasteless. Won’t be ordering again.wished I’d gone to paw paw Banbury!!

Ordered for the second time tonight but first for delivery,fast and very warm food.Delicious and really good portions. Also added to the order after initial online order and was no problem for them-will definitely order again!

Not long lived in the area but tried a takeaway tonight and must say it was lovely i phoned the order through gave a time to pick it up it was ready on time salt and pepper ribs and house special chow main everything perfect.

Ordered a Chinese delivery when they opened at 16:30, contacted them at 18:30 as food not arrived, expecting some kind of apology, but no, instead questioned about the time, whether it was booked online, no we spoke to you, then they proceeded to say we had rung the wrong number, so why did they answer by saying hello Mings and telling us the order would be £32.60. Used this place loads of times before and expected a little bit of customer service, however they couldn’t have cared less...

The manager is very rude. We ordered our food and 1hour30 minutes later half the food got delivered which meant half the family was very hungry. We called and spoke to the manager who was very rude and couldn’t understand why we were unhappy that not all our food was delivered and all they wanted to offer was it on our next order, this didn’t resolve the fact that our family was still hungry so they said they would deliver the rest of the food which still hadnt arrived an hour later. One hour and 30 minutes after the first food was delivered they left the food on our doorstep without ringing the bell. So I must say I definitely won’t be ordering again. Thank you for the great service

I have resently moved into the area and found these are the best cod and chips at a good price. We have been here a few times now and the food is always at a great quality. Will always continue to visit here.

No seriously, the best chips for miles around. Super tasty! I’ve been to this chippy a couple of times now and the taste cannot be beaten - good the good old way in beef dripping, I’ve never had chips so good. The fish is amazing, the portions big, and as per other chippies the food isn’t swimming in grease! Save that for your standard shops - this is anything but! The service is second to none as well, very friendly. I’d highly recommend this chippy, even if you’re not in Middleton Cheney it’s well worth travelling to. If you can’t find it, it’s right near the Co-Op 😊

Our fish bar in village is the best around. Always jolly and the fish is always cooked freshly. Reasonable price for best quality WELL DONE

While visiting England over the new year had a craving for fish and chips. Went to Middleton Cheney fish bar and was delighted with the food and great service. Large cod and chips were excellent lovely fresh fish and great home made chips.

Really enjoyed the chips however there are no vegetarian options at all! No longer doing pizzas and only veggie option is cheese pie which was not in stock. Very disappointing. Very friendly and helpful staff though. Unless vegetarian options are added to the menu we will unfortunately not be visiting again.

First time I have experienced Fish & Chips cooked in Beef Dripping - very tasty but somewhat worried about the health implications over being cooked in trans free oil. Haddock was enormous and had to be halved to give 1 serving

Just moved into Middleton Cheney. Been to the Fish Bar twice now. Both times cod & chips absolutely brilliant. Really fresh tasting fish. White, firm - kind of what you expect if you go to a fishing port, not the middle of the country! The fish is cooked to order so you may need to wait just a few minutes, but you will not be disappointed. Also, super-friendly owner and staff. Can't remember ever tasting better fish & chips (and I'm an oldie!)

Fantastic local Fish & Chips.. Always freshly cooked to order & Soooo worth the wait!! With a warm friendly staff, with whom you can chat, but if you are in a rush you can also phone in your order... Jason, the owner recruits his staff from within the village and more.. There is a reason why people travel out of Banbury & surrounding villages to get their F&Cs here... You should too!! P.S. Strongly recommend the Lunch Box with real Gravy (available anytime)

Use this chip shop regularly now ,never had a bad meal, 5* , would recommend anyone to give it a try.

I travel every week from Banbury to this chip shop, Absolutely beautiful food every week. Jason and staff so friendly and the shop is always very clean and well presented. I would never go anywhere else, for our Friday night take away!!

The food is amazing from here and this is now the only chip shop i will use ( i live in bodicote) the staff are always polite and the food is always perfect. The chips are in a league of there own as is the curry sauce!

Bland and tasteless pies kept under heat lamps the worst chips I’ve ever tasted, I don’t normally use the village chip shop as I’ve had issues with the food before, so I made a comment on their Facebook page.

I’ve been here many times now and it’s time to leave a review. From the moment you walk through the door you’re made to feel welcome-I often chin wag with the owner. The fish is cooked fresh and is always superb. Can’t fault the chips either. There’s loads of choice of different things to try on the menu (not just the usual chippy fare) and the portions are massive too! Keep up the good work!!!

Always freshly cooked. Haddock is sublime. Friendly owner and staff, who always make you feel valued. A must visit.

Yes, you have to wait a short time for the food to be cooked fresh to order, but just factor this in and you won't be disappointed. All fried food was crispy and tasty. Good range of seafood options and very reasonably priced.

Went there as heard a lot of good things about the chip shop.

I can't say anything more than what Jason and his team put out is the best fresh fish and chips that we have experienced. It's cooked fresh so be patient. It's popular so be patient. It puts to shame the popular chefs brands we have in Cornwall and if you go large you get a whale! Enjoy and if some of these popular TV chefs need a lesson I am sure the team would impress!

Despite the opening hours saying open till 9.30 pm I arrived at 9.20 pm to be told they were shut, very poor service for a village facility

Fresh fish, cooked to order. We are visiting from the north where we are proud of our haddock and chips as cod is favoured down here but l have to say it was delicious. Large boned fillets cooked to perfection by friendly staff in spotlessly clean surroundings. Would definatley recommend but make sure you are hungry as portions are large.

And a sleeping bag, if you want a quick dinner then drive to Banbury and come back again. Instead of spending so much time apologising to customers about the wait, just cook some chips. Funnily enough people come in at dinner time for them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Stopped off on the way through the village with a friend. The staff were friendly, the food is cooked fresh so tasted fantastic as it hadn’t been sat in the warmer. Chips were delicious. Will definitely be returning !

We visited on Friday 21st April, the shop was busy but even so we were served quickly. Well , WOW! The batter on the fish was so delicious and crispy, cooked to perfection. The chips were mouth watering and so good! We haven't enjoyed fish and chips much from other shops but we are definitely going to return to this one! Keep up the good work!

Best 'fish and chip shop food' I've enjoyed in a long while. Beautiful large piece of fresh haddock cooked to order,,,,as are all types of fish on the menu,They even have plaice on offer...not an option seen much these days.It's the one I will try on my next visit!

Seven of us had a very good cod, chips and mushy peas from this popular shop in our local village.Be warned that the portions are very generous, three is us could have shared one portion of chips.The fish was delicious, the batter not too heavy.

We visited this establishment for the first time whenit had just been done up for the new people We ordered the usual order and my husband who was getting it watched as they were packing up and thought to himself "ohthat is odd they used to do them in separate packs "when rhe server took up another paper and packed up a second one . Very good fish and chips inded and if you are not huge eaters do be careful of what you orderas they are large helpings We go more oftenas we travel 20 miles there and back but they are well worth the effort

In my opinion, you can always judge a chip shop by the size of the queue. Tonight, I arrived at 7pm and the queue was right out of the door...but do you know what, nobody complained, we all patiently waited as we all know that the food served here is superb. The owner is always welcoming, friendly and apologetic for the wait time. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

So great to have such a great service in the village. Great portion size and always fresh (which means you may have to wait) but that is find with us. Better hot, fresh and a few minutes wait than instant, cold and disappointing

I live in the village, and can honestly say that this fish bar just gets better and better!The quality of the food is superb, its always piping hot and the portion sizes are very substantial. Add to this the fact that the choice is extensive, with pizzas, kebabs and calamari among the numerous other items on the menu, then it's a surefire winner.Would not go anywhere else and would thoroughly recommend to everyone !!

Been a few times now and every time the food is good. Battered things are crispy and light and the chips taste good as they are fried in the traditional way... not for veggies! Overall recommended.

Always good, a bit slow but they make it all to order so cannot fuss really. The kebabs are really good with nice selection of fresh salad on top

Have been regulars at the Middleton Cheney fish bar since being recommended by family who live in Middleton. We live about 8 miles away and the drive to collet is well worth it. Proper chips cooked in proper Beef dripping. Best I have eaten since I lived in Birmingham 20 odd years ago! No surprises therefore that the proprietor is a fellow Brummie and a thoroughly lovely chap - passionate about serving a quality product at a fair price. Works apart from other local chip shops. Would recommend!

Just returning home after a 5 hour drive and under orders from The Boss aka my Anne to pick up some chips. Normally we would go into Brackley but on seeng the British flag advertising fish & chips, well, let's try them. So very please I did, the staff are very friendly and when I saw the chips coming out, they did look appetising. Trust me, it's worth trying them, they taste like chips used to and the only thing missing was the newspaper to wrap them in. It turns out that they use traditional cooking methods and not using the normal bland oil. So we have now found a new local chippy and parking is available. Top marks and thanks, looking forward to trying the Proper fish cakes next time (not frozen ones). Excellent

Amazing fish and chips hard to find a Chip shop now day that use beef dripping the old school way. The fish is amazing so tasty and not to greasy like other chip shops recommended to every one. Pizza are amazing cooked in the stone baked oven so fresh to have them home made kebabs are amazing so tasty and so much flavour wouldn't change where I eat

This chip shop takes pride ion the way it cooks its fish. The chips are very tasty. If you fancy something different they also do kebabs.

Brilliant fish and chip shop. They cook the food fresh, so you'll need to wait a few minutes (or phone in advance and the food will be waiting for you when you arrive). Great value - they serve the largest of chips ever. We always order one portion of chips between two and it's more than enough for us. Highly recommend the breaded haddock!

Once again MC Fish Bar does it again a lot of Chip Shops owners leave there Chip oil to long before its changed leaving a not so nice after Taste every time I visit MC -- never the case Fresh as you like and Very Well Priced £1.70 a portion & £2.60 for a Large portion which is more than enough for 3 people to share well done MC Team. ps them Italian Stallion Pizzas are Lush all with Great Humour & Service

They may be the only real chippy for about four miles but it's really good quality fish and chips and always busy. The only other take out options in the village are Chinese from the pub or Indian but if you want the original English fast food this is the place to go!

The best Fish and Chips around, its not fast food you have to wait, cooked fresh. Also the Pizza's are great, meat feast with Kabab meats, yesssss!!!

On way back from Banbury feeling rather pekish pulled in to MC Fish Bar WoW.. The smell of fish n chips was jaw dropping and mouth watering. Fish n chips gorgeous even ordered a takeaway Pizza for later for Tea. Got to be one of the cleanest Friendliest Chippys I've been in for a very long time Well Impressed.
