The table was positioned exactly where requested, our waitress was fabulous (I apologise for not catching her name) and the food was superb. In summary, the meal, service and atmosphere on Sunday was the perfect way to show love to my mum. Thank you

Lovely cosy pub. However, at the weekend, you will struggle for parking spaces and is practically fully by 12.30pm. Specify you want dishes served together if ordering from different parts of the menu or you will eat alone. Would recommend booking a table and getting there for brunch. Sunday menu has some good roasts.

One of our favourite places to come and eat but this was the first time in a while… and it didn’t let us down. Great service, a lovely feel and the most amazing food!

Chris was a wicked host and looked after us throughout our time at the cromwell cottage. Really kind and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our food but still checked in every now and then to ensure we were ok. Food was great as always! Its our third time back and we will be back for a fourth time im sure! Highly recommend the Cromwell cottage and hopefully we will have Chris looking after us again.

Delicious food and great atmosphere/ interior design. Very accommodating of my partners dietary requirements (Ruby was very patient). would recommend for dinner if you're staying in the area.

Good friendly service. Atmosphere is good, light and airy with good space between each table. Food was good, we went for: Starters - pan fried king prawns, chicken liver parfait and octopus. Octopus was delicious. Parfait was great and the fig sauce really worked well, could have done with more breast/toast. Main - fillet steak and lamb shank. The lamb shank was delicious and the chips with the steak were lovely and crisp. Dessert - we opted for the mini desserts which was a prefect way to end the meal. Thank you.

We came to celebrate our friends daughters 18th Birthday. Beth was very accommodating and looked after us really well. Food was fab and all the staff were very friendly.

Amazing food! I have to say our server Beth was fabulous. She came back to check our food was good, any time we asked for extra condiments she was so quick to bring them. She was very cautious of my allergies and I felt safe that my food would be as id asked for as she had checked really well. Thanks Beth for making our experience even better.

Very nice gastro pub, a place people dress up for, even at lunch. Families welcome but it's more focused on adults and older kids. Staff are great. Mains are around £20, it's good food so with drinks and dessert I was happy to spend around £35. Will visit again, the sort of place I'd take family when they visit.

I love this place. Been a few times now and each time the food just hits the spot. Steak was perfectly cooked, juicy and just plain delicious. The peppercorn sauce was absolutely fantastic. The brisket croquettes came with this unbelievable sauce that just hit the spot. Love the atmosphere and the staff are great. Super friendly and great at what they do. Will definitely be returning.

Had a lovely breakfast here today. The Team were great and very polite and friendly as usual. Service excellent and food was great. Had scrambled eggs on toast, very hot and delicious! Would definitely recommend a visit!

Perfect place to have a lovely lunch and dinner with family and friends! The atmosphere is breathtaking, very nice fireplaces, beautiful pieces of music playing in the background. The service is fantastic, very polite and professional waiters who are doing their job BRILLIANTLY. Very caring and positive people. The food was also excellent, the starter came after only 3 minutes of waiting. Very quick and delicious! Definitely will be coming back!! ❤️

It’s a nice place with a good atmosphere. We had not been for a few years but it was a comfortable and pleasant surroundings to dine in. It was very busy, which was good to see, but it did make parking a challenge. Glad we’d booked in advance! The service wasn’t the best or the friendliest to be honest, and even at 2.00pm you had run out of chicken which was a disappointment for two of our party, and seemed a bit of an oversight. The food was good though, and my Sunday roast was very nice. The desserts were nice too. I went to the gents toilet and that wasn’t great unfortunately. It looked overdue for a quick clean up, the taps were a mere trickle (actually I think one wasn’t working at all) and only one of the hand driers worked. But we will definitely return for the food and the ambience.

Came in last week for 50% off mains. Both had fillet steaks and some drinks. Was lovely food. Served by Elle who was amazing.

Car park is a little tight Service at the bar is great and the lounge area is fabulous but the pub does allow dog to come inside even with food around and the walkers with dogs try and hog the fires. The restaurant is great initially the service is good taking your order, checking if every thing is ok but when it comes to paying it’s like they don’t want your money and that’s when you notice not enough servers as it seemed only one person working at the time. Value for money was really good two mains two drinks less than £20 so you forgive a little over cooked food but the potion size of fish and chips very good bit qty of peas It was our third visit and they get worst every time and in the past yr the menu hasn’t changed But you can’t not the value

A Wonderful Evening at The Cromwell Cottage. We had a really lovely evening at The Cromwell Cottage sitting by the fire in the bar area, everything about our visit was perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Our waitress, Ellie, was absolutely fantastic—attentive, warm, and professional throughout the evening. She made sure we had everything we needed and her friendly demeanor truly added to the experience. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The barman was equally lovely—chatty and cheerful, creating a great atmosphere at the bar. As for the food, it was simply fabulous. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into the preparation, and we were impressed by the quality and variety on the menu. The Cromwell Cottage is a gem, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you to Ellie and the team for making our evening so special!

I came down to the pub last Saturday and ordered an espresso martini, it tasted amazing ! Abigail was lovely and helped me decide between 2 of my favourites and I’m so happy I went with her recommendation

Save your money and go somewhere else the food was below standard. The service was terrible and after waiting for almost an hour to be served it was discovered that the waitress hadn't put our meal through so we had to wait another 20 to 30 minutes to actually get our dinner. It was obvious they didn't have enough staff for the amount of diners in. We will not be returning!

First visit here, food was amazing, I had the filler steak which was perfect. My partner had the duo of beefs. He’s still raving about it! Megan was the best waitress. Will definitely be back

Brunch, fairly busy with a nice cosy atmosphere. In this cold weather, a lovely log fire, perfect with our food.

Great place to go with the family. The food is good and mutant (child) friendly. They also have a good selection of beers to keep the adults happy.

Lovely place. Staff were excellent. Food was really good and good value ( especially if you use the fixed menu ). The drinks were a bit expensive £11.45 for a pint and a small bottle of sparkling water, but overall, it was a great experience, and we will return.

We visited on new years eve. Staff were brilliant. The table was beautifully set and the food was delicious. The magician was such a fun touch and we really had a wonderful evening. I called and spoke with staff after initially booking for four and wanting to add an extra person. They couldn't have been more helpful or perfect. Additionally, one of our party lost a pair of glasses somewhere during the evening. I called the restaurant the following morning to ask if any glasses had been handed in and the staff member took my number and called me back soon after, leaving a message to say they had been found. I was of course extremely grateful for all of their help.

This was our second visit to Cromwell Cottage. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, it really is a beautiful place to have drinks and dinner. I really wanted to like this venue, however both times we have visited have been a disappointment. My dish was the festive Butternut Squash Wellington. This meal was terrible and not in a Wellington form. It was an unseasoned, unflavoured mush in a horrible shortcrust pastry pie with a laughable 'sprig' of broccoli and some (perhaps reheated) vile roast potatoes - they tasted as if they had been microwaved and not fresh. It was really disappointing. My husband enjoyed his meal of scallops and pasta. Dessert was not much better. The first time I had the brownie it was one of the best I had tasted, this time it was barely warm and rather chewy. My husband had the 'bomb' dessert in which its contents were negligible and the sauce it came with not warm enough to melt the chocolate. I have to say I went home still hungry. This meal would have cost us £90 if we did not have a voucher from Cromwell Cottage of £40 to make up for the disaster that was the first visit (on my birthday!) Eating out is not something we do often and it isn't cheap. We do not complain to get 'freebies' we are just saying it like it happened. I can see Cromwell Cottage is a popular place but I doubt we will be back as at Cromwell Cottage it is so hit and miss in all aspects from either service to food.

Went for a Sunday roast and was a bit disappointed. Most of it was good but the beef, the main part of the roast, was fatty and not that warm. Service was quite slow and you're paying a lot for what you get. Also, parking was pretty much completely full at 2pm. Would be tempted to give it another go as it didn't really hit for me today.

Lady at the bar was so moody, not polite what’s so ever. Put my drinks on a bar tray behind the card machine so I go to grab it and it tipples over, no offer to re-pour them or even a smile after I apologise, I ask and offer to clear it up and she walks away. Disgusting service, last time I’ll be here.

My only argument is the sharing out of vegetables ti go with the riast dinner on a very small pan made it awkward, reaching over other people and 1 small pan for 3 meals, very disappointing. When paying for a meal servings need to be adequate. If we had have had 2 pans it would have been fine.

The whole experience was fantastic, service, food, drinks, everything was absolutely perfect. Very well managed and ran like a very well oiled machine.

It was a family Christmas lunch which we have done for several years apart from during the pandemic. Cromwell Cottage is half way for the families, the food is always excellent and the atmosphere enjoyable. The staff are always on hand and polite. The whole experience is excellent and a great start to our Christmas celebrations.

Food was good, but service abysmal. Took ages to get a first drink and apparently they only stock one zero alcohol beer (Peroni). Very difficult to get a second round and we didn't attempt a 3rd. Waitress was trying to be funny, but came across as rude. Food came out staggered (almost 10 minutes between first and last starter arriving). Similar story with mains - sat with a plate of food while they took more than 5 minutes to get cutlery. Won't be racing back.

Me and a couple friends came in for drinks and for some food on Friday night. The bartender Evie was so welcoming, she went above and beyond for us whenever we needed anything. I highly recommend coming here, the food was 10 out of 10, overall it was a lovely night.

really lovely pub and the food was lovely, however, I had the prawn, crab and chorizo linguine and am now suffering badly from suspected food poisoning. Been a rough 24 hours. Partner had a burger and is completely fine. Avoid the linguine

Service and staff were excellent. Very attentive and polite.. Service was a little slow due to high numbers of people so we are slightly later than we should've. However this didn't really affect our overall experience. The pie went down well with two of the party with me and another person having the half chicken. I was a little disappointed with this dish though. The chicken was quite dry and i think it would've gone down better if there was mash and veg rather than just fries and a pot of gravy. The dish lacked this, and maybe the choice of dudes should be offered for this. One other disappointment was that it was very cold and when asked if the radiator could be turned up, we were told that the heating had broken that day and that the plumber couldn't come out until the next day. Other than that it was a pleasant evening and the promotion on the free glass of bubbly was very welcome!

The food was very tasty and arrived without too much of a wait especially given how busy it was. Really lovely vibe around the restaurant. Staff were happy to get us more veg for the Christmas dinner which was appreciated. So thank you.

Called in with some friends for a drink as I was passing by the area. It’s a lovely pub to visit, the perfect location to meet and catchup with my friends in the area. Our server Evie was lovely, I will definitely be visiting again when passing by the area!

This has become one of our favourite places for any time of the day or week. It can get busy as expected with parking at times being difficult but it is well worth it.

Lovely decor and atmosphere. I ordered the battered halloumi, chips and peas. Delicious and the only complaint is the portion of peas was very small. The other order was chicken burger with a side of halloumi fries. The main meal was delicious but halloumi fries were uncooked and very pale and not crispy. Did not mention it at the time, as my daughter hates when I complain about things and she said she would still eat them. Staff polite and friendly.

Always know when we come here that it will be a great meal with attentive service. I actually celebrated my birthday here on friday and Saturday night! I was lucky to have Charlotte and Milly one night and milly the next. She remembered it was my birthday and arranged for a congratulations on my desert on the sat evening.
