I stumbled upon Beirut Mezze on Tripadvisor and it was a total hit! The staff were incredibly helpful, the food was amazing, and the prices were very reasonable. I can't recommend it enough

I would climb over broken glass to get to Beirut Meze’s hummus! This is our 3rd visit to this wonderful place. A lovely welcome into a stunning cellar based restaurant began this wonderful experience. This time we simply had a mixed starter for two, plus a few more starters. All of the food was spectacular and, as we hoped, it was a wonderful mix of tastes and textures to delight the senses. Great value too. Also, you have the added bonus of having no mobile phone signal during your meal, this is not a negative aspect like some reviews allude to, it simply allows you to focus on conversations and gastronomy rather than social media.

What a find. Went for lunch on a Sunday, expecting it to be quiet. It wasn't, I think people have discovered the secret! Went as a family to celebrate my wife's birthday. Set meal for £9.95 amazing value, to which we added a few side dishes. Tasty and delicious. Drinks all round; the bill came to an amazing £107. Service was friendly and attentive, though not intrusive. Highly recommended.

I have to fess up, I love the Beirut Mezze. No trip to Bristol is complete without a trip to this restaurant. The food is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful, the barrelled roofed dining area is lovely and atmospheric. It is a wonderful experience, treat yourself.

Myself and 3 friends had the set lunch menu which was excellent. I am vegetarian and had a lovely selection and everyone agreed that the food was first class and great value. The staff are very polite and attentive. This is not the first time and won’t be the last. Highly recommended and only a few minutes from the Hippodrome

The food here is absolutely delicious. Everything is freshly made and zinging with flavour. The staff are absolutely lovely. Maggie was standout, so friendly and chatty but, to be fair, every single member of staff was superb. The menu gives a lovely mix of mezze dishes and we shared one of the platters and added in a few extra dishes to supplement. There was so much tasty food and we enjoyed every morsel.

Well displayed menu outside. Very welcoming and efficient staff. Food was delicious and service faultless. The downside, access is down a flight of stairs and the place a little dark, but atmospheric, the latter not a problem if you have a torch on your phone.

I'm still eating here weekly and it's still as consistent as ever!! Absolutely love Beirut Mezze and it's £9.99 Lunch Menu is unbeaten!

This is always our first port of call on a trip to Bristol. Fantastic plant based options, the atmosphere is perfect and the service has always been great.

I visit Bristol occasionally on business and this restaurant holds many affectionate memories. Sadly, this recent visit didn't hold up to these. The menu has a reduced number of mains and a profusion of starters. I should have taken my cue from this and ordered a selection of starters. My lamb chops were OK but it was difficult to navigate the fat in the very low lighting. House wine OK. It just wasn't the same, either for price, choice or ambience for me. The large groups all seemed to be enjoying it .

Mezze is my favourite type of food as i love having bits of many different things so I rather hoped this place would deliver. It really did! I think we ordered 7 mezzes between 2 and everything was delicious, flavoursome and cooked to perfection. There is such a great choice and it's all very reasonably priced for central Bristol, including drinks. I could happily eat the pitta bread with halloumi every day and the baklava were divine. Can't say enough good things - just wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often!

Lovely late lunch with friends before going to the Beacon. The food was delicious and great value and the service was excellent. Have been before with family and it never fails to please.

Went for dinner here and it was nice. Nice choice of main courses only compliant is that the mains all come with chips can’t change to potatoes.

Great Ambiance, a little hidden gem, the food is really great, excellent choices, friendly staff. You walk downstairs to the cellar, the pictures you will see do it justice.

We booked last minute but they fitted us in for an early sitting. The food was flavoursome and abundant. We particularly liked the spicy chicken cubes, the halloumi bread, houmous, lamb sausages and tabbulah salad. The staff were attentive and service was swift but we didn’t feel rushed. Overall an excellent experience and we will definitely visit again soon. It made a lovely change to exit a restaurant feeling satisfied but not too full.

We chanced across this on a Saturday lunchtime and decided to give it a go. The lunch menu is outrageously good value - a fantastic set of starters and substantial main for £10. All the food was delicious and the staff were attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommended.

Great place, great food, great staff. We had the lunch menu and there was so much food. The mezze starter plates were lovely and almost too much for one person but absolutely great value. The houmous was gorgeous and silky smooth. Our waiter was very sweet and polite. My third time here and I will return.

Great little place to eat. Throughly enjoyed a mezze with lamb, chicken and little dishes. Good value for money, wonderful flavours, plenty of variety to share and ample serving for two. Brilliant evening meal at this beautiful little restaurant the other night, food was fantastic and the staff were very polite as well. Only minor critique would be that the decor is a little dated in the front of house and bathroom but other than that it was all perfect.

This is great value for money. Lovely food, attentive service - what's not to like? Don't bother with wine. I asked for a glass of white. They only had Sauvignon by the glass and it wasn't great. Will stick to beer or soft drinks next time.

This is not lebanese food. Only realised once it was too late and had alreay ordered. The chicken and lamb were more indian spiced than lebanese and the portions were not great. If you want authentic lebanese food do not go here. Whatever you do please do not order the houmous with meat. The mince was off putting to say the least and that was just visually

Now having our bus passes, (for the elderly!!) we took a bus to Bristol. We had eaten here a few times ages ago, and decided to visit again. We weren't disappointed. The £9.99 two-course lunch was delightful. Plenty of variety and the tastes were superb....

I ordered salmon, it looked and tasted almost burnt and certainly didn't look or taste like salmon! It was flat, dry and lacked flavour. Also, the sauted potatoes did not meet my expectations. They tasted like potatoes with marinade ontop. They forgot to give me my chip. The sauces that came with tasted bitter and sour. and not a very friendly place. The man who served us came across a little stern and although i questioned the issue with salmon, there was no apologies or anything. I will NEVER be going back there. Please do not waste your money and appetite. Honest and truthful review to date. Dissatisfied!

Interesting looking place and staff lovely. Food, however, was sub ready meal standard. Mixed mezze starter - falafels and kibbeh dry and tough, lamb in filo devoid of lamb filling, vinegary baba ganoosh, bland hummous. Mixed grill main: dry lamb, chicken not bad. Place was packed - why? Lebanese wine was very good and at least it wasn't expensive.

We chose this place because it had great reviews on TripAdvisor, but our dinner was really disappointing. Although the service was good, the quality of the food didn't match our expectations (we ordered the 8 mezze plate as a starter, lamb shank and mixed grill). Do not come here for a high quality meal, there are many other Lebanese restaurants that are considerably better.

Just visited this stunning restaurant for a anniversary Meal. The atmosphere is brilliant for any occasion but especially a anniversary Meal. Great setting and the staff were superb and very informative about the food and drink choices. We both shared a platter and chicken cubes to start and then my wife had the Salmon and I had the Lamb Shank for main (spicy) all the food was amazing and very well priced, we will return for sure.

We went last week and the food was very nice. I didn’t take a liking to the restaurant being in a cellar. When we ordered our mains we expected some sort of salad to come with but instead got given a massive portion of meat with a little bit of rice on the side. There was way too much on the plate and once I finished I had a very uncomfortable feeling in my stomach the following day. The meat was well cooked and tasted good but they really need to change their portion size.

Monday Night Food Favourite This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants in the city hidden away on Small street just down from the criminal crown court. They have the option of spicy and non spicy for most items but if you aren’t a lover of spicy authentic food you probably won’t enjoy it. I go here most Monday evenings for a great priced meal where you have so much choice including veggi options and the staff are lovely too. This has steps leading down to it so it’s sadly not wheelchair accessible. Worth a visit for sure.Great work team and I’ll see you next Monday evening!!! Take away is also available and cash and card accepted.

Myself and my fiance visited this restaurant on a bit of a whim based on the trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We went for the set menu which was incredible. There was a huge range to choose from with so many flavours. We couldn't finish it all and the restaurant were very accommodating in a goodie bag to take it all home!

I travel to Bristol frequently on business and occasionally with family. This is my go to restauarant when with friends and family and have been remiss in not posting before. I took my family to the Mezze in August after months of being away from Bristol due to lockdown and the staff remebered me and were very accommodating. The staff are very attentive and friendly and the Special is excellent making the meal for 5 like a private buffet with the mixed mezze starters and great main course. No one leaves hungry! We had a great time and had a mdeliscious meal.

Absolutely delicious food at incredibly decent prices. You get loads for your money, too. We had the set meal (dinner) which was a bargain at £20 a head for a full 3 course meal with coffee. Faultless food full of flavour and lovely service too, despite it being incredibly busy in the restaurant. Thanks all - we will be back!

We were looking for something last-minute for a family of four with one unadventurous eater. With the recent terrible explosion in Beirut fresh in our minds, it seemed fitting to patronise this place. It turned out to be one of the best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern meals I have had. We had a vegetable mezzo and a selection of starters and everything was fantastic. The chicken wings had a lot of meat on them and it just fell off the bone, the spicy lamb chops are the best I have ever had (I frequently order them and am often disappointed elsewhere). Our “unadventurous eater” loved the spicy chicken cubes and the halloumi filled breads. Everything was tasty, hot and interesting. This place should be a cherished gem in Bristol.

Went here for dinner on a weekend - the underground setting is cosy, the staff were really friendly and helpful and most importantly the food was delicious. We had a selection of mezze dishes and all were fresh and really tasty. Just what we wanted and only £33 for 2, including a drink each. I have never had a cocktail served in a pint glass before but I liked it!

We have just returned from a meal at this restaurant. We are visiting Bristol for a weekend away and was looking for a decent halal restaurant to have dinner at. We researched, and this restaurant appeared to be highly recommended online. We opted to have a set spicy set menu, which was a selection of starters and main course. The chicken wings tasted like they had been boiled and finished off under the grill, the rest of it felt pre made and stale. I would not recommend this restaurant.

This was our 2nd visit and we picked the £6 lunch as it is such good value for money. Tasty and good sized portions. Nice place to sit and very pleasant staff. Only negative - and it's no big deal - slightly worn and tired plastic style dishes the food is served on. But for value for money in Bristol I doubt this place can be bettered.

What a cool little place... lived that we were underground! Food was lovely and great value for money.. service was a little slow and disjointed but overall couldnt really complain.. I would go again.. no phone signal as you are underground but your eating anyway so why would you need it... and cash only as the card reader doesnt work due to being underground

Went for a quick lunch and both ordered vegetarian mezze. Food was fine, but could have been better. Pitta breads could have been warmer and the baba ganoush less cold (was icy cold). Falafel and pastries were fine, but not exceptional.Price was very good so no complaints, but small changes could make this place better!

Visited on a weekday lunchtime and both had the £5.99 lunch deal which consisted of a mezze platter&whole flat bread each plus both had a bottled beer.* Food 8/10: for the price, the food was very good. Fattoush, hummus, falafel, (warm??) dolma to start and simple charcoal chicken and rice for main. Food arrived hot, seasoned, good portion size. * Ambience: 6/10. The restaurant is underground with vaulted ceilings however the decor was very tired looking, quite dark and grubby but warm with clean table. Quite a few solo, business diners and a few couples. * Service: 8/10. Table service. Quiet and polite, not overbearing/overselling. Free tap water brought to table. The waitress was sweet but we didn't appreciate hearing her boss speaking bruskly to her. * Comparison: 10 times better than fast food chains which would do a lunchtime deal for a similar price.

A large group of us went just before Christmas for a night out, absolutely fantastic from the response to making the booking to service the minute we walked in.All the staff were excellent and the selection of food ticked the boxes for all of us especially as some were vegetarian.You will not leave feeling hungry , can’t recommend it enough, well worth a visit.

Found this cellar restaurant by lucky chance and ordered the set lunch special which was amazingly good value. An excellent selection of 6 different starters ( I had the veggie) served with bread followed by my selected main from the menu - baked aubergine with peppers served with rice. The food was great. The service was fast and the staff helpful and friendly. The premises had a nice atmosphere and were beautifully clean. I will be pleased to return on my next visit to Bristol and would happily recommend.

Amazing value for money. One of the best experiences I have ever had in my life due to the range of food available for such a low cost. Food was amazing, as was the wine.

Had the lunch fixed menu, the food was good, the value for money excellent, but the service was very poor. We waited an age for the waiter to take our order, having watched him take that of a neighbouring table who arrived after us. After another long wait my beer arrived, but my wife's fruit juice did not. In due course the starter arrived, and half way through I had to go find the waiter to chase up my wife's drink. He told me he was just doing it!

Went with family . A strange underground restaurant but amazing choice of starters main coffee and afters included in a set menu. Humus vine leaves, aubergines, prawns,Falafel delicious. Salmon for mains I almost couldn't eat it all though it was delicious. Friendly staff good value.

Lovely place, it is hard to find somewhere that will cater for someone on a keto diet, omnivores and vegans however this is an excellent choice! The sharing platters were outstanding, with a great variety, especially the lamb chops. We went as a large group they brought our food at a similar time. My only gripe is the decor, there was a large strip light right at eye level, which we needed to cover.

Been here before and standards remain excellent. Great lunchtime mezze. Great value. Friendly & polite service. Look forward to the next visit when back in Bristol.

Maybe a Friday night wasn't the best time to visit this restaurant, as it was very busy and the staff were struggling to keep up with the tables. There were several large groups and it did feel a little claustrophobic. We had the Chrismas dinner special, which involved a selection of mezze dishes followed by main course. The mezze was good, not great. For main course I had the lamb shank, which proved too much to eat for me. There was a lot of food, but I think I would have prefered less but better quality and served more promptly.

Was a little apprehensive at what a £4.99 two course lunch would be like but glad we checked trip advisor and headed in as we were not disappointed! The platter as a starter was great with lots of choice and was very filling. The vegetarian main was good and the chicken looked very tasty, although we weren’t sure what was in with the rice which was a little concerning. Luckily there was plain rice with the vegetarian meal. Service was a little slow but this wasn’t a problem and our waiter was friendly. The setting is lovely and cosy. £18 bill for two very generous courses for 2 people and 2 glasses of wine is such good value! Would recommend for something a little different.

Ate here yesterday as looking for a last minute meal. Having read the reviews my expectations were high and we were not disappointed. The ambience of the restaurant is very cosy and located down some steep steps. We had the set meal for two which included various tapas to start with then a main course of your choice. It was finished off with mint tea and a small selection of baklava. It was a substantial meal and at £19.99 excellent value.

Good service, very good value set menus nice environment and nice beer. Could probably do with some more bread with the courses but overall the food was very nice would definitely go back. Can’t fault the service of the waiters.

We noticed an advert for this Lebanese restaurant while walking through St Nicholas Market - £4.99 for the set lunch. It sounded too good to be true....but it wasn't! We had a meze to start which had 6 items and flat bread. Stuffed vine leaf, hummus, chicken wing, a meat filo roll, a potato ball and a cold chopped salad mix. All beautifully presented and delicious. The main consisted of a lamb and chicken skewer with rice. I had the spiced version and he the unspiced. The spicy sauce was really hot but tasty and yogurt was served with the non spiced option. I tried a Lebanese yogurt drink which was salty. I really liked it. He had a lime soda so we tried each others. The lunch cost us just under £14. If we have a day in Bristol again we shall definitely head to Small Street!

First visit to Beirut Mezze a wonderful character restaurant we chose 8 dishes of various meat and vegetables, The service was excellent all dishes were freshly cooked or prepared we will certainly return on our next visit to Bristol.

We had dinner with friends here on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago & really enjoyed it. It is a nice relaxed atmosphere, being a subterranean restaurant with vaulted ceilings. Both couples had eaten here before, so we knew what we were getting! We chose the mezze menu, where you get 8 dishes of your choice for £15.99pp. You can choose spicy or non spicy versions of dishes & there are plenty of veggie options. We had hummus, aubergine dip, vine leaves, lamb meatballs, salmon kebabs, cheese filo pastries, fattoush & halloumi cheese. We ordered a bottle of Lebanese white wine to go with it @ £19.99. There was plenty of food for 4 people; it almost wouldn’t fit on the table! A small portion of baklava & coffees & mint teas finished the meal off nicely - and for a total bill of £94! Just one note of caution - you need to pay cash as being underground means they have no signal for credit/debit card payments, so make sure you visit the cash point first. A thoroughly enjoyable meal!

We were well set for professional opinion with a Lebanese and a Syrian in our group. The setting downstairs in what looked like a wine cave was beautiful. Starters shared out and decent. Grills for the mains were okay. Highlight was the grilled chicken. We ordered the premium Lebanese wine: Chateau Musar, a little expensive for what it was, and subsequently the better value Bekka Wardy. Both had lots of sediment so a decanter would have been useful. Nice night, but overall average food.

This was the first place we went to on our trip. Had to go back for a lunch as well, so ended our trip here as well. says it all really!

Dropped in to this restaurant last night for a great evening of food The venue in a converted arch made the location interesting Food, mixture of all sorts of foods spicy and non-spicy (your choice) and for £20 was great value.
