Mezze Bar & Grill in Canterbury

We love Mezze. Their food is fantastic, tasty, well presented without being fussy, and good quality. We particularly enjoy the Adana Kofte, and the salad which it comes with is excellent. Their bread is amazing, hot, perfectly cooked, and so tasty. Service is always good, and friendly. We also order from them on Just Eat and the quality is just as good. One of our very favourite restaurants.

This was our fourth visit to Meze (Tuesday 25th march) and I have to say, this really might be the best restaurant in the south east. Nino really went out of his way to look after my partner and I and nothing was too much trouble. Starters were hot and quick, my partner had the lamb in hummus which was heaven and I had the icli Kofte which was lovely. We both had the mixed grill for main which was superbly cooked and A* quality. I can’t recommend the French martini enough, absolutely delicious. Thank you Nino and team for a wonderful meal!

Mezze Bar & Grill, in my opinion, sits at the top for Turkish cuisine in Canterbury. Our waiter was just brilliant! A very warm welcome, thorough service throughout our meal and beautifully presented food, with a real, authentic taste of Cyprus. So, thank you for making my birthday a memorable one. Superb food and really friendly staff

I had a late dinner here with a colleague (1hr before closing) and we did say while eating that the food smelled and tasted off, but we dismissed it saying that it might be the condiments. It turns out that we shouldn’t have dismissed it because the food poisoning kept us awake in the night.

Went to the restaurant for a meal. The service was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. We shared the Mezze meat platter and all the food and side dishes were very tasty. Good value too, even the wine. Would go again if in Canterbury.

Great food, decently priced, staff can't do more to be accommodating and friendly. Warm Meze £20 for two people I've had a couple of times. Delicious.

We found service to be fairly slow as we were sat waiting for a while when we first arrived to order drinks. When the food arrived, it was small portions and also not very well seasoned. We have had much tastier Turkish meals in canterbury. The staff also weren't overly friendly. It was an ok meal but nothing special.

Came into Mezza in Canterbury and got sat down straight with a warm welcome. Ordered drinks and I had cocktail, it was amazing so tasty and very much enjoyed. We ordered food and I advised the waiter that I have a food allergy and he confirmed that what I ordered was okay. Food arrived quickly and it did not disappoint. Great temp and super flavoursome. Poshed it off no problem and didn’t feel full afterwards as it was the right portion size. Highly recommend this restaurant as the staff are very attentive and polite and the food is amazing! Decent price and will look to visit again very soon. Thank you so much

Delicious evening meal with family of 4, we loved the atmosphere, great service and excellent food. We shared a hot mixed platter, I loved my lamb shank, the children enjoyed chicken and lamb shish kebabs with fries (instead of bulgur wheat which my wife said was also really nice). Top marks all round.

Second visit to this restaurant, second visits can often be a disappointment, not this time. Every bit as good as the first visit. The starters (Muhammara , and Halloumi) were all fresh and presented well. The main courses, Kofte and Chicken Beyti were cooked to perfection, seasoned to perfection, and tasted perfection. At the end on the meal we looked at each other and asked out of ten what score, we both said 10/10, it was that good. Almost forgot to say that the wine was also good value and tasted lovely. This is well worth a try.

Had an amazing lamb shank here. Slow roasted for 24hrs and just melting off the bone, absolutely superb meal full of flavour too. Highly recommended for a relaxed meal. Service was great with friendly attentive staff, well done to all 👏👏👏

After a busy day in Canterbury shopping we decided to return to the Mezzi Bar and Grill for a late lunch the food was as usual of a high quality with numerous Turkish dishes to choose from the staff are very smart courteous and friendly the restaurant is ideally situated for the Cathedral,Theatre,Christmas Market and numerous shopping and banking outlets.

LOVE this place! 10 of us came for my husband's birthday. The staff were absolutely spot on, very friendly, great service, making sure we had everything we needed, drinks were always topped up very quickly. The food was amazing, 6 of us wanted the "Meat Lover" and they brought it out on a huge board, honestly makes me drool just thinking about how good it was! Very reasonably priced too. Haven't got one bad word to say about it. We'll be back again for sure 😁

Great place for dinner in Canterbury. The baba ghanoush and yogurt appetizer were phenomenal. The mixed grill was delicious.

Eaten here twice now, and it's been great both times. Very friendly attentive staff, good food, and it won't break the bank. Good option for pre-theatre dining, close to Marlowe.

Called in here for a lunch and was really surprised at the choice of food. The portions were large and extremely tasty. Good value for money ey with excellent wines too.

Great evening out. Complimentary bread and olives were a nice touch. Sea Bass fillets really fresh. Atmosphere and service excellent. We will be back and would recommend to others.

Wow what a great place. Amazing staff, good is super tasty and good size portions. Better than the other places nearby that are mostly for tourists. If you are a local, come here for some amazing Turkish food, they know how to grill meat 🍖. We got the meat lovers set meal for two and it was plenty big enough, could have been enough for 3 for some people! 🌟

I went with my girlfriend for a date night midweek last week. I won't be going again. We ordered calamari rings to start. My girlfriend was excited because it's rare to see gluten free calamari. She had half a ring and stopped, it didn't taste right. I had 1 and a half pieces before stopping. We complained it didn't taste right and got the halloumi instead. That was very average, with below average presentation. I had lamb ribs as my main served with the bulgur wheat. The lamb ribs tasted like they had minimal seasoning on them and the bulgur wheat was a bit wet. Like it had been cooked, frozen then defrosted and warmed in a microwave. The worst part though was waking up in the middle of the night to be sick. I had food poisoning the next day and suspect it may have been the calamari. Very disappointing experience! I can't speak to what you need to do to fix the health and safety aspects of the food, but for presentation check out Lona in Bristol for some ideas. Better presentation and more seasoning on the food, along with better portion sizes will really help you out.

I recently visited mezze and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with colorful decor that made me feel right at home. I started with a meze platter, which had delicious hummus, baba ghanoush, and stuffed grape leaves. For my main course, I tried the lamb shish they were perfectly grilled and so tender, served with flavorful bulgur and salad. I also enjoyed a glass of Turkish wine, which was a lovely pairing with the meal—smooth and flavorful. The service was outstanding; the staff was friendly and attentive, always ready to recommend dishes and share their knowledge of the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for authentic Turkish food!

Chicken was nice. Lamb was clearly undercooked. Was told it depends how you like it.

Very expensive compared to other shops in the city

Visit to the Marlow Theatre, popped in for an evening meal before the show. No regrets the whole experience was great, amazing food, good atmosphere and very friendly staff

Excellent food, restaurant full. Excellent staff. I'm used to eating Turkish in Haringey and Hackney - my Adana was up there with the best. My only critic, iceberg lettuce should not be part of a salad. Update: went here on 26th October 24. It's changed. Portion sizes so small I had to get a takeaway one hour after leaving. This was disappointing as this was my go to when visiting Canterbury. Looks like 2 skewers now days is what would make one skewer previously. Don't leave other people in charge of your business.

Lovely place. I am a 'weird ' eater. I enjoyed halloumi for starters then mixed shish for main. Delicious and as promised not spicy at all. Thank you was delicious.

A variety of Mediterranean foods. We split the fish board with lots of different fish plus potatoes, vegetables, and bread. Reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and fast service. A good location near a midevil gate. I would go back there again. Try it!

Great food. Very friendly and welcoming. Calamari was beautiful. The menu had great options including some quality seafood but I went for my favourite Adana kebab. Overall fantastic experience for food and service. Highly recommended

My kids ordered kids meals. One had margarita pizza and the other had chicken nuggets and chips. My kid told me her pizza was microwaved and the chicken nuggets are store bought type. Seems overpriced (£10 each) for the quality and the meal doesn’t even come with any drink or dessert. We order lamb liver. It had a bit of liver taste. The shish is dry and bland. We went to a very good Turkish restaurant in Edinburgh on Minto Street. Their lamb liver was very flavorful and the shish came with homemade sauce, which overcame perfectly the dry nature shish. Clearly, Mezz Bar is not our best Turkish restaurant because of our previous experience.

This is a far cry from a proper Mezze restaurant. It's not a well coordinated service, and it's emphasis appears to be maximising their profits rather than focusing on the guest experience. Will I visit again? Absolutely not.

Visited mezze in the beginning of this year. The food was really good. Nice ambience. It’s definitely slightly more towards the pricy end but decent shout.

I had an incredible dining experience at Mezze Bar and Grill in Canterbury! We started with the delicious houmous and cacik, which came with fresh, warm bread that was simply perfect. For our mains, I chose the lamb beyti, while my partner enjoyed the lamb and chicken shish. Both dishes were succulent, full of flavor, and paired wonderfully with their homemade chilli sauce, which added just the right amount of kick. The portion sizes were generous, offering excellent value for money. The service was impressively quick, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

My family had a lovely lunch here when visiting Canterbury over the bank holiday. We weren't sure where to eat but after quickly searching online we settled for this place as it seemed to have good reviews and now we can see why! We enjoyed every dish that we ordered and the flavours were on point!! The meat was not dry, it was very juicy and well seasoned. The staff was super friendly and the dishes were decently priced as well. The portion sizes were good and was also presented beautifully. We ordered the bread and hummus, lamb ribs, mixed meat, and chicken wings which also came with some cous cous and salad with a lovely dressing. Would definitely come back if we're ever back in Canterbury which is likely as my family is still talking about this place after the one visit. Thank you so much! :D

Decent restaurant in the center of Canterbury. Fairly varied menu for a decent price. The food is fine. The service is friendly. The portions are on the small side.

A friendly welcome awaits from attentive staff. We had the Mixed Grill and Hot Mezze to share. Cooked over charcoal the kofta, lamb chop, lamb shish and chicken shish was tender and beautifully seasoned. We had baklava for dessert and I had a cocktail (White Russian) which finished the meal perfectly. We will definitely return to this beautiful restaurant.

Canterbury is an amazing place to visit. Because I love the Mediterranean food we tried Mezze Bar and Grill today and it was a good experience. The staff is lovely, the food is delicious and the prices are decent. If you are in the area and you want to have a good meal try this restaurant. Also they serve cold draught beer 🍺🍺

The table was not cleaned and was sticky. The food was not impressive at all, but the staff were friendly. The food portions were very small compared to the price. Three pieces of vine leaves for £6! The Adana kebab had lots of chewy fat, and the chicken beyti was not tasty. The side salad was really tasty, and the baklava was just okay.

Its a very welcoming restaurant The staff were really nice and friendly. Great selection on the menu and the food is just amazing. The lamb on the mix grill is full of flavour and so tender. Definitely worth ordering.

What a gem of a find, situated by the Westgate towers. The food was absolutely fantastic, the staff wonderful and the price was so good. Our lovely Italian waiter ( everyone else in this family run business was Turkish) was so attentive and helpful. He recommended a superb Turkish wine and it really was very nice. The chefs certainly know their business and were very friendly waving from the kitchen! The food was fantastic, we had king prawns and calamari as starters and mixed grill and lamb cutlets for mains. Delicious! We would certainly recommend this restaurant for atmosphere, food, and hospitality! We love that this is a one off family run business. We will definitely be visiting again.

Our second visit to Canterbury and our second visit to Mezze. The food was excellent. We had the sharing meat platter was huge and excellent quality and value. The lamb in particular was perfect. Good beer and wine. The staff were so helpful and friendly as well. A definite go back to restaurant next time we go to Canterbury

Such a warm welcome as we entered. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were fantastic. A special mention to Nino and Ufuk, (you really went over and above to make us feel spoilt. 😊). A great atmosphere and the food was delicious. One of the best meals I have had. I asked if they could come and open a restaurant in Suffolk! Great place for a pre drink night out, a nice atmosphere, good menu options and friendly staff.

Excellent Turkish cuisine. Clean and cosy restaurant. Big portions and quick service. Grilled fish is a must. Cold meze plater as well. The homemade baklava was prepared with walnuts instead of pistachio and reminds me of my mother's baklava.

Top food, service and atmosphere

Today was our first time trying this restaurant. Me and my husband shared the meat lovers platter for two and it was stunning. Freshly made, the dishes were two course (hot and cold) and the main was enormous! There was so much food, the lovely staff boxed up what was left for us to enjoy this evening at home. We will definitely be back! Very very tasty, nice atmosphere, lovely decor. Thank you all!

There was little food on the plate for the money that i pay

After the meal, they gave me candy to cleanse my palate. The service was also good and the Greek food was delicious.
