Closest thing to authentic Mexican food in London. We started with ceviche, guacamole and the best Picante margarita I’ve had in a long time!For dinner we had Birria tacos and quesadillas and the carne asada tacos. Delicious! Highly recommend a visit!

This place has gone to the DUMPS since the ownership change about a month ago. What used to be a leafy Mexican oasis has become a strop shop with waiters with way too much attitude. You used to be able to swan in at any odd hour and sip on succulent tequila and now you get grilled at every stage. It’s impossible to get service and they act like they are speaking to a brick wall. Sort it out. What used to be a classic institution of fun has become a place to watch paint dry and sassy waiters exhibit attitude. Resultantly, avoid at all costs. Head to Azteca instead - FANTASTIC atmosphere, better service and even BETTER quality drinks.

Poor attention from waiting staff, food brought late and no everyone served so we had to ask where the other food was. Food was swimming in grease, portions were stingy not that I could eat the pork tacos as they were so greasy, the chicken quesadilla had one small piece of chicken in it. Other patrons were allowed to be crazy loud and break lots of glasses. It was terrible we did say to our final server that we weren’t prepared to wait for our dessert so he had it made up in a take out box. Nobody enquired how our experience was. Seemed very understaffed and staff were obviously stressed. Overpriced I wish we’d never stayed a minute . The doorman was delightful though so five stars to him. Quite frankly you need to take a serious look at the whole thing as we will be telling people not to go to this dreadful place. I work in hospitality and would have been ashamed to have my customers tolerate a fraction of the bad experience I did. .

Really nice place, great to unwind on a Friday night Although I know the entertainment and deals are better mid week. Went down there w and lost track of time. Very inviting staff. Although the food portion sizes were quite small, they were very nice. Definitely recommend and drinks were tasty and strong

Came in for a few drinks and to explore tequila but ended up falling in love with mezcal. Lucky for me, Pepe was behind the bar on this occasion and served as the perfect host. He was super knowledgeable, engaging and loved it turned out to be a tasting experience for me! Last time I visited, the food didn’t wow me but this time, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the passion behind the bar completely turned it around. If you’re even slightly curious about agave spirits, this is the place. Unpretentious, soulful, and worth trying! Please go and ask for Pepe. Also want to shout out Ronaldin, who served me a few weeks ago when I popped in for a quick drink!

The food is good. The place is a good place for parties or for a good catch up. They have a lot of tequila in the menu. My server Yuri was so kind and knowledgeable and efficient. Thank you. I will come back again

Truly abysmal. Pros: food and cocktails good but not worth price. Cons: where to begin? No table water, even after asking twice. Service non existent and snails pace whenever you found anyone. Many tapas plates but tiny tables. Part of order missed/wrong plates delivered. Music so loud genuinely couldn't hear the person beside. Asked 20£ charge for presenting birthday cupcakes. 'Outdoor' (indoor) dining area full of smokers. 'Optional' 13.5% service charge - noticeable attitude from staff once queried. Best part of the evening? Leaving.

Came to Mezcalito for dinner with a large group of friends. Whilst the atmosphere was on point and the staff were really kind, the food is incredibly overpriced for what you get. The average price for 2 tacos/quesadillas is 14 pounds, and they couldn’t be any smaller in size. In my opinion, Mezcalito is a place to sit down with your friends and have a snack/drink, because you will definitely not feel satisfied unless you spend an incredibly large amount of money on food.

The tacos are all delicious, the cocktails are on point and the staff are all lovely. Give this a try!

Bottomless brunch left us disappointed. The food I must say was very good, generous portions too. However, the service and atmosphere was a complete let down. We had to keep asking for our drinks to be topped up and glasses to be cleared. It’s really not a huge space so it wasn’t like service was slow because it was too busy. We let them know at booking it was for a birthday. Other tables got given the hats, we weren’t offered any at all. While we was there, 2 tables received a birthday song with a hat, and shot. We didn’t get anything. One of my guests let someone know of the birthday again and they just shrugged. We took the service off the bill and we saw another table do the same. I was left really disappointed, the reviews have been really positive. We felt like a complete inconvenience there which is not good considering it’s on the pricy side and we are paying customers.

This is my 2nd time coming here. This time I came to celebrate my birthday, the food was incredible as always. The staff were friendly and accommodating and nothing but good vibes.

You have to have the mezcal paloma it’s amazing and the nachos or carnitas quesadillas were off the charts!

Avoid eating here. A group of 5 of us attended a bottomless on Saturday and all ended up with diarrhoea afterwards. The only thing we all had in common were the frozen margaritas. Have emailed and have heard nothing back. The food is also not great. Definitely not worth the price tag.

3 of us. Walk-ins. The doorman invited us in and good that he did. Sat outside. The 2 ladies loved their cocktails- San Miguel and one Picante. They loved it enough to have two of them each. I had the red wine from Mexico- where else in London (or even UK) can you get that. Pretty nice. For food we had the two of the Esquite (sweet corn salad- spicy)- super nice, three of the fish tacos and one of the Cameron - prawn tacos. Excellent service. Great ambience.

Visited last Saturday to have some drinks. But amien convinced us to go for flights instead. We Started with 1 and ended up with 3. Good recommendation. Amazing place for spirits. We will surely comeback with a bigger groups especially for tequilas.

Food was served in really small size. I have never seen that much small tacos in my entire life. And the worst part is they charged me 20% of service charge. I never had paid for that much in London. It almost feels like kind of racism or something. Never wish to go there again.

Yurii is a manager who makes your night go from 5 stars to 10. Music, food, drinks, service. 10/10 I don’t even want to leave this review incase this place gets more popular, but they truly deserve it.

Aimen was our server and he was absolutely brilliant. He did not leave us without a drink at any point and both the food and drink were amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

As a Mexican I can said that is a really good place, the staff were so friendly , the food was tasty and delicious, the drinks absolutely amazing, we had mezcales , and tequila stunning, we ordered ceviche, birria tacos and some sides, definitely we would return. 🎉

Service was really poor. They forgot glasses to drink water, messed up the orders, and initially made us sit outside without a heater on our table. 13.5% service charge is an insult to sanity for that. Food is good, but pricey. Music is way too loud, you can barely speak to each other.

Horrible service. We had booked a table in advance and when we got there, they sat us outside under a broken heater and said they couldn’t really do anything about it (it’s January!). After over an hour of sitting in the cold, we finally got them to move us inside. When we sat inside, we didn’t even have glasses for water and one of our napkins was dirty. They then proceeded to mess up almost all of our orders and some of us had to wait a long time for our food to arrive. The music was also incredibly loud so we couldn’t even have a conversation, and to top it all off they asked for a 13.5% service charge, which is higher than any service charge I’ve paid in London! 0/5 recommend..

We waited for a long time for for the food as the waiter messed up the order and had to retake the entire order. No apology was given. The did the bottomless birthday brunch. I had to repeatedly ask for top up of prosecco, not once was this given proactively. This was only ever filled up to half of the glass which was ridiculous. The main courses included in the brunch (I had fish tacos) were tiny and I had to order another main course on top of the brunch. Staff disinterested and given this was a birthday party we just felt completely ignored and actually couldn’t wait to get out! I do not recommend this place at all given we ended up spending about £85 a head for some nachos and tiny tacos.

We stumbled upon Mezcalito in Chelsea on a whim and were very impressed. We were warmly welcomed by Michele, who took the time to answer our questions and provide excellent recommendations that perfectly matched our hunger levels and schedule. We each had beef, chicken and chorizo quesadilla, followed by two second portions to share – it was that good. The food arrived in good time, the atmosphere was warm and cheery. Michele and the rest of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the price was very reasonable. We would definitely visit again.

The tacos were tiny and they didn’t taste good at all. We went for bottomless and the service was okay for the margaritas we had but the food was bad and all 3 of us had stomach ache for the day afterwards. No idea what’s in the chicken tacos but would not go back!

We came here as a group of 4 on 31/08/24 and had the most horrific experience. Myself and my husband had travelled from Surrey to see our friends, enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Ivy Asia and wanted to go somewhere afterwards for a few drinks and one of group had this on their list of places to try - so we thought why not! The atmosphere was nice and the cocktails were nice, ordered some churros for the table, which was also very pleasant. We told the waiter it was one of our groups birthday and if we could have the glitzy sombrero for pics and about 20mins later a sombrero appeared along with a round of shots. My friend and I didn’t have the shots but our husbands did and we thought how lovely….until we asked for the bill. The bill had a bottle of water that we did not order (was still on the table untouched) and the round of shots - that we also categorically did not order. So we asked for these to be removed, the server said he would speak to the manager but he returned and said the manager said no. We still refused and off he went again for 20 mins, returned and said no. We refused again and he disappeared again for another 20 mins and said they will remove the service charge and water but the shots are to remain. Respectfully the service charge went out the window when you refused to removed the unordered items the first time. We still refused and requested to speak to the manager and he wouldn’t get the manager. He said again he would remove the water and service charge and he will personally pay for 2 of the shots himself, so he whips out his monzo card and at this point I’m annoyed and offended. We had over an hours journey home ahead, I’ve been sat here arguing for more than an hour about this bill when we have dogs to get home to and the server thinks this is about money and wanted to be Billy Big Cojones acting like he was doing us a favour. It wasn’t about money, it was about principle. You cannot add things to peoples bills and hope they’re too drunk to notice. It got worse because the server claimed he had a conversation with my friend about the shots and then he claimed we had ordered the water, another bold faced lie. It was getting ridiculous at this point, we told the server to remove the water, the 4 shots and now the service charge or we won’t pay for anything and we will leave. Which legally, we were well within our rights to do. We said this 3 times and he ignored us, so we got up and proceeded to leave. Next thing you know one of our party is behind manhandled by security and they’ve barricaded us in - which is illegal. The manager miraculously appeared and told security and the staff to open the doors and let us out. The manager, albeit a nice gentleman, did keep us on the kerb for almost an hour going around in circles about the incident and it just got to a point where I point blank said “What outcome are you looking to achieve here? We’ve been offended, treated like idiots, as well as criminals and manhandled because your staff decided to add things to our bill without our consent and refused to take accountability?” The manager cancelled the whole bill and we were finally able to leave and get in our respective Ubers home. I got in at gone 1am for all of the wrong reasons and safe to say we will never return this bar again and would outright tell people to avoid.

My cousins celebrate my birthday and was really fun the atmosphere was excellent and the music they have a DJ wich was perfect, they have a huge variety of tequila and mezcal and good cocktails.

Only stopped here for a drink and drinks were lovely with a great selection. Atmosphere was lovely, great vibe inside and very good service. I must however note that the prices were extortionate, even for Chelsea. We spend about £40 between me and my boyfriend and only had one drink each. We asked for tap water for the table and got charged almost £5 for it and also got charged almost £5 for service which was ridiculous for one drink. Other than the insane price was very impressed.

Not the best mexican food I've had for the cost, however, the atmosphere and the staff was amazing, nice little DJ there too!

This is good, authentic Mexican food. The service is absolutely incredible and the music and decorations make for a refreshing atmosphere. They have a great tequila selection, and for the non-drinkers, I recommend the virgin piña colada.

If I could have left, I would have left. I was here for a friends event which made me somewhat a captive audience. The service seemed organised at the start but it all fell apart fast. Forgotten dishes all over the place. Hours to get through everything being delivered. Servers would just keep saying it was going to be 5-10 minutes more without any sort of checking up. They have the cheek to automatically and without informing you add service. This is not the tipping culture of the UK where you at your discretion choose to leave a tip due to exceptional service. Which this was far from. Worst of all was how noisy it was because of the music. It was impossible to hear the person next to you never mind a couple of people down. Many of us asked to please reduce this to which the answer was no. Fair enough that it’s the vibe you want. If I had been able to without offending my host, I would have left. This is a place with many areas so having one not blasting music wouldn’t have killed the mood you wanted elsewhere. The food was ok. The most expensive item I had amounted to semi congealed cheese with chorizo through it. Which was a flop. The tacos were nice. The churros were dry and lacking in enough sauce to redeem them.

So this is potentially in my top 3 worst restaurant in London. We where here for a weeding celebration and it was atrocious. But the worst part where the service we were here more than 3 hours and some people did not even get the started while other people already finished eating their mains. A total mess. But wait it gets better we did order 4 days before coming so it doesn't make any sense such a disorganised service it was genuinely terrible. Also food quality was questionable. Won't come here ever again even if it's free. Some tacos looked like dog food. Avoid. Personal taste I tough the music was loud it's basically a club you can't speak at all after asking them to lower the volume couple of times they ignores us each and single time.

Wish I could give this 0 stars. No customer service. We were sat down at a table that was not set up and then ignored for 15 minutes by 6 waiters who were all standing around looking bored. When I finally got a waiters attention and asked for a menu he sat at our table, tried to get us to order drinks (of which I stated we don’t drink) and stank of tequila. We left shortly after. Awful place and super high price point for not much food

What a fabulous find! Great venue, delicious cocktails, fab food/Mexican tapas style, really good atmosphere and most importantly staff that seem to enjoy their job and want you to have fun and leave happy. Excellent Chelsea addition. Will go again.

The staff here are fantastic! So nice and seemed genuinely happy. My friend did the bottomless bruch I went a la carte. Starters were really good and we liked the mains neither of us had a dessert. Can't speak for my friends drinks but I enjoyed mine and she left very merry so I'm guessing the drinks were good. There's also a very impressive selection of tequilas on the menu.

Great spot in the heart of Chelsea. The food is scrumptious and the options are great. The steak to share is magnificent and they have a lot of options for GF guests. Also, the decor is really nice inviting and super cute. The terrace at the back is great. Service is super attentive and they help a lot with the selection. Great atmosphere and superb cocktails. We are definitely going back.

I ordered birria tacos on deliveroo from this restaurant and it was absolute rubbish. Not only were the tacos mushy and falling apart to the the point where it couldn’t be held up, but the restaurant did not include the consommé and ignored my request for napkins and cutlery. £20 for two soggy tacos is outrageous BEWARE!!!!

Don’t come here for a bottomless brunch, the food is poor but the service is worse. They are very stingy with drinks and only provided 6 bottles of corona over the 90 minutes with us waiting 20 minutes at one point to get a new drink. Avoid at all costs

Guy and Aiman provided the best service possible for my girlfriend's birthday, went for the bottomless brunch and the food was nothing short of amazing, frozen margarita's are very dangerous and I will definitely be back

We came for Taco Tuesday which started off well, however, some of the taco tortillas (the corn tortillas) were completely soggy when served to us and fell apart when you tried to pick them up. My main gripe is that on arrival, we were presented with a happy hour drinks menu stating that cocktails were £10 each, and that you could order 2-4-1 frozen margaritas. Little did we know that when you take up this offer, they actually charge you at the full cocktail price of £14 and not the £10 as advertised to us. The waiter came over and showed us a completely different drinks menu we never saw prior that showed the true price of the drink, and nowhere on the happy hour menu did it detail this, nor did the waiter adjust the price after we queried it. The margaritas themselves were nice, but incredibly small portions so finding it hard to see how they can justify charging £14 for one. I was overall enjoying my meal but the drinks misdirection is enough to put me off going back in the future or recommending this restaurant to others. I would also advise not going for tacos on any day other than Tuesday as they become far too expensive for the size of the tacos and the quality of some of the ingredients.

A big thanks to our server, Guy, who made our visit truly special. The drinks and churros were both excellent. Guy’s meticulous and friendly service has definitely made us want to come back with our friends. Thank you Mezcalito team!

Restaurant initially complete. The receptionist then suggested that we stick tables and eat on sofas so as not to wait. The tacos are very tasty and of excellent quality. The recommended quantity in order to eat well is at least 4 tacos, so buy 2 tacos twice.

Amazing place, really nice staff, although really small menu of food options. We ended up not eating we had few drinks. They are also asking if we want water but they are not saying before hand that you pay for the water £5, which is bad “advertising” and at the end they will service charge you 13.5% forcefully, for what you order, no matter how small or big the order without letting you know. I’m surely not in America and neither seen this before and I have travelled quite often to know this is not something usual. Up to you!! If you choose to go here or not, just heads up before hand!!

Excellent table service from Yassine! He gave the best customer service and made sure we had the best time for my birthday. The whole management was ready to accommodate a change on our table setting as initially was too tight for our group! Would definitely recommend for birthdays! (Food portions were small)
