Mexi-Kernow in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I would've attached a photo but the food didnt last long enough! Got 2 portions of dirty fries and they were delicious. 100% will be visiting again. Good customer service and quick to reply to my queries over Facebook messenger.

What an extraordinary little place. Stuck in the middle of nowhere thus us a gem of a find. Service was impeccable under circumstances but food was to do for. Ring early to book a slot, there were quite a few things sold out by the time we rang at about 1900. We ordered a beef burrito, dirty fries and loaded nachos. Collected about 45 mins later. Food was exceptional. More than enough to share. £21. Can’t fault it. If it was in the middle of town it would be so popular. Cash only.

Love the dirty fries at Mexi-Kernow. Smell amazing and taste even better. My partner and I love having take-away from here. The customer service is outstanding, they really do accomodate to your needs. Thank you mexi kernow.....also I have noticed that a few people have mentioned the portions aren't what they were, but i for one am glad that the portions have been slightly cut back because they are still large, before handover I could never finish a portion. Great job guys!

Having driven past on a regular basis and always wanted to give it a try along with seeing the regular menu choices on their Facebook page we decided to go for it and we were sooooo glad we did!!I opted for the Dirty fries with pulled pork which were amazing!!!! Maria fancied something different so picked the Banana Blossom with sticky fries, she couldn’t eat them all but luckily I was on hand to help her out!! Fantastic portion sizes, a very slick ordering and collection process, amazing food and great value for money - what more could you want?!?! ...... another portion of Dirty fries please!!! We will be back for more

Such a hidden gem just off the road in Camelford. Consistently brilliant food, hot on collection and such good value for money. Have recommended to all our friends who come to the area and they all love it.

I am very sad to have write this but I feel it’s only fair to let them know. As a once fairly frequent customer to what was a hidden gem, I have to say since the change of hands it’s not the same. The once fully stuffed burritos are left wanting. The taste is average at best, lacking in flavour and the quality and quantity of the filling is the same. The fully loaded boast of days gone by is no more and the ingredients were bland and mainly rice. I visited twice since take over, after a disappointing first visit, we decided to give it another go as they were still finding their feet. However the quality and quantity was still no match for the previous owners.The squid rings were average and a very small potion with one taco.Generally not value for money. Sadly I will not be visiting again.

Absolutely Fabulous !! I had Veggie Chilli over Dirty Fries with all the toppings and the Wife Veggie Chilli over Nachos with everything. Superb quality food, delicious and worth every penny ! A pure ray of sunshine during the lockdown. So glad you're open, Thank you ! 5 out of 5 Stars from us x

Had to put pen to paper once more, so to speak. this place never lets you down - the flavours are exceptional and the quality of the food is superb! As we all do, we eat with our eyes initially. Opening a box from Mexi-K is like opening up a jack in the box as a kid - the colours. The smell....... and all for the cost of a fast food kebab! Matt and team never disappoint!

On a cold rainy evening my daughter said let’s go to this restaurant that all my mates were talking about.On arrival I was presented with a shipping container and a well lit sign.The kitchen and area was lovely and clean and the chef was a busy man with many orders on.Service was good and with a smile and that always helps.We placed an order which was not my first choice but it was busy and we did not want to wait too long.The local beef was cooked well and all served in a box with nachos, guacamole and the trimming.A worth while visit and in my view reading some other reviews, it’s not Rick steins its better ! Well done to you both

Proper tasty locally sourced food. The fries are crispy, the bbq pulled pork is tender, the dirty nachos are ...... just dirrrty! And the firecracker calamari.... just wow!! Great honest food, in very generous portions, sourced from local butchers and suppliers, created into masterpieces by Matt a lovely friendly guy. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. But beware.... it’s popular so don’t hang about!!

In the interests of full disclosure, I've been meaning to write this review for ages but have only got around to doing it now because there is a 2* grumpy review further down the page, and I want to give a locals view of the place.What can I tell you about Mexi-Kernow? The food is exceptional, freshly cooked and locally sourced, the portion sizes are MASSIVE (so much so that we sometimes ask for smaller!), the prices are very reasonable, the open kitchen is spotless, and the service is always great.We eat from here all the time, and if we ask the kids 'what do you want for dinner?' their reply is almost always Mexi-Kernow. I honestly can't rate the place highly enough. Yes, it sometimes gets busy (it's very popular), and if you turn up you sometimes have to wait, but they do take phone orders.If I had one complaint it'd be that they're not open 24/7!! (Yeah, I know, you have to sleep and things, but pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase!)Don't forget to check out their Facebook page for the daily specials too!

If you’re in the area then it’s a must that you visit. If you aren’t in the area then it’s worth the travel. My partner and I will be making the 120 mile round trip from ours as regularly as we can. We decided to stop off here on a whim whilst staying nearby and I’m so glad that we did. The food is absolutely delicious, the portions are huge and the prices are extremely reasonable. The owner was very friendly too. Can’t wait to come back. Please open one up down our way!Cheers.

Issue with cold food,thin cardboard box use! Don't expect hot food for more than 5 min! So if you travel say anywhere outside the small town! Taco in a tortilla? Strange to say the least? A floury mess in bottom of boxes? Not enough chilli on Taco in a tortilla for the cost! Other Taco in a tortilla that they do tiny amount of fish or calamari etc,for 7.50 not Worth it. The filthy fries,the fries were not crispy at all and it resembles chip shop chips in a big mushy mess. Sorry nothing much authentic about the mex!

I recently went to Mexi-Kernow for something to eat. I tried to order on the phone, but it was constantly engaged so I just drove down and ordered. I opted for the chilli chips and my friend had the special chicken burrito. We had to wait quite a while for the food, but it was definitely worth the wait.

Think we have eaten our way through the menu and specials at Mexi Kernow including he ing at picnics on the beach.

This place is Amazing! Huge portions & Freshly made to order. Great staff. Can’t wait to go back again.

What an absolute gem of a place! The bourbon chicken is one of my favourites. The staff are really friendly, all the meat is sourced from my favourite butchers over in Camelford, the food is all cooked to order and extremely good.

Great to be able to watch the food being made All very clean and tidy. Really friendly staff. The menu is limited but all good. The food was really nice well presented and at a great price.

Hands-down the best Mexican-style food I’ve tried. We have a plethora of tex-mex and street-food places in London, but this place beats them all. Me and the missus shared a chicken and pork burrito, bourbon chicken nachos and a portion of dirty fries. The little’un had chicken and chips, and we shared a slice of their peanut butter and chocolate cake. Came in at just under £30. A bargain considering the portions were massive. So much so, we had enough left over for breakfast! Really well cooked and well put together dishes. They were just SO tasty. Already looking forward to our next visit on the weekend.

Highly recommend this takeaway, it's our favourite in Cornwall. We lived in the nearby town Camelford last year with family for a few months and have now returned to Plymouth. It was our number one thing that we missed when we left and always try to visit Mexican Kernow when visiting Camelford.

We visited Mexi Kernow twice on our recent trip to Camelford and it was wonderful. The food is delicious, really tasty, portions are huge and the staff are lovely. We even got Anniversary wishes. I wish you huge success

My husband and I have recently purchased a holiday let in Camelford and have driven past this place many times. We decided to give it a go last night and it didn’t disappoint!

We grabbed few dishes from this guys in the end of our holiday in Boscastle. And we are glad we did! Food is great! Portions are very honest and we couldn't fault anything we had ( and we had quite a selection ).

We were visiting Camelford for a week and decided on the Thursday evening to grab some food from Mexi-Kernow as it was only a minute or 2 up the road, and we're very glad we did! Between the 3 of us we had the beef chillie burrito, firecracker squid, beef tacos and the pulled pork burrito. The food was excellent. Burritos are probably the biggest and best i've ever had, and i'm a big burrito fan! The service was extremely friendly and we were able to place our order over the phone to pick up 15 minutes later. If you like mexican food, or just good food in general you have to check this place out as it may not look like much from the outside but they know what they are doing!

Went Mexi bbq last night after Federer had trounced Nadal. The burger was the best of my life...all hail the Mexi Kernow!

We visited this place on the recommendation of the staff where we were staying nearby, and we weren't disappointed. The menu is great, with daily specials on, and plenty of options for vegetarians too. The portions are *vast*; the nachos defeated my husband and he had to carry on with the rest for breakfast. Would definitely come again and bring the kids when we're next in Cornwall.

We saw this place online and we both love Mexican so with it being the closest food to the cottage we’d rented we went first night.

We tested the outside seating today, a little football in the sun whilst waiting and then sitting and eating tasty food in the sun.

The reviews on here have built this up to be something truly special. It isn't.

Amazing food, staff couldn't be more helpful, so glad Cornwall has a place like this, a real find, highly recommended, we'll be back!

We moved to Camelford recently and made a fantastic little discovery in Mexi-Kernow.

Love mexi kernow so much. My favourite takeaway and my favourite thing about living in camelford. Nachos are delicious!

We visit Mexi-Kernow on a regular basis as it is local to us. We have NEVER had bad food. It is always consistently fab and good quality! My child loves the brownies and the chicken and chips whilst dipping into what we order. I love that the portions are big and that you can buy different dishes to share. The specials are great and it really adds to the choice.

Ate here on Friday and it will be the first of many visits! The food was amazing! I had the pulled pork burrito and my husband had chilli nachos, both dishes were delicious and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Once again the food was absolutely delicious!

We had the BBQ chicken nachos and the slow cooked BBQ chicken and mozzarella taco and a side of nachos with guacamole. It is always excellent and super tasty here- I love the fresh mint and radish. Whatever you get here will be guaranteed yummy. We moved here from London a year ago and really miss the variety of cuisines and this place certainly fills a void for us.

My family made a surprise visit from London and suggested we get a takeaway, we had been recommended by a friend to try mexi kernow for a while so thought we would give it a go...

Been meaning to go here and try it out since it opened but never had the chance. And I regret that the food was brilliant quality and quantity and priced very reasonably so with a pulled pork burrito and a tray of dirty fries I headed home and hoped the reviews were right. And sure enough they were can’t believe I had been missing out on this for so long will definitely be back there once the Christmas belly has shrunk

Living less than a mile away this place is to easy to use. The food is excellent and really good sized portions. All staff are so friendly and welcoming. The cabin is spotlessly clean and you can watch the food being prepared. Good menu to choose from and always a choice of different specials. If you haven't tried it yet you really need to get there.

This food is THE most delicious take away I've ever had. It's exotic, different and full of flavours and aromatic, pleasant spices. Everything is super fresh, meat locally sourced and always cooked to perfection. Be prepared to wait as it's just Mat cooking and it's always busy (which says a lot!). Also a great selection of the veggie & vegan options. Go for 'fully loaded' with all the toppings to get a full, beautifully balanced mix of aromas and flavours complementing your main. Highly recommended!

Me and my partner visited here purely bassed on high recommendations, and boy we was not let down, the food is fresh and full of flavour, the owner is fantastic, it can get busy but I can see why, keep it up!!.

Stopped in as my friends had been telling me how amazing their dirty fries were, particularly the pulled pork. Sadly as we turned up at late at around 8.30 when they close at 9, they’d been so busy ( no surprise considering the quality) there wasn’t any left but me and my partner will deffo be returning as their chilli dirty fries were incredible. Lovely staff/chefs and can’t wait to come back for the calamari, SO worth the minor detour on the way home.

This was by far the best food I’ve had in Cornwall, it was heaven in my mouth! I’d even go as far as saying I’d sell my mother on the black market for their dirty fries.

The lack of variation of food in cornwall has always been a struggle for locals and tourists. Im so bored of soggy fish and chips and trivial pub food. Therefor I was completely amazed by the standard of Mexican food this funky little container had to offer! Burritos, tacos, nachos, dirty fries, vegetarian and vegan options!! You really couldnt ask for more. Not only is the standard of food exceptional the service was equally outstanding. Both members of staff were very friendly and helpful explaining specials ect. The container itself was remarkably clean and the staff were working very professionally and quickly!! I really cannot recommend this place enough..completely blown away.

So everyone knows fantastic food comes in the most unusual places but one thing we've recently discovered is if it's offered out of a shipping container GO FOR IT.

We've been coming to Mexi-Kernow since it opened, and we've never had a bad meal (and tonight's meal was reliably delicious, too). Locally sourced ingredients, everything prepared from scratch (in a spotlessly clean kitchen) and cooked really, really well. You can taste every ingredient in the burritos; the freshness of the salad, the spices and sauces, the firm rice and slow pulled pork, BBQ chicken or veggie options (jackfruit or veggie chilli). We always have some paprika fries (which 3 year old son calls red dot chips!) and there's never any left overs. We only eat a takeaway every 6-8 weeks and since they've opened, it's always Mexi-Kernow.

Live locally to this place and recommend it to anyone. Good service and spotlessly clean. All cooked fresh from ordering by Matt. When busy you may have a bit of a wait for your food but it's really worth it.

We have been using Mexi-Kernow since they opened last year. Truly superb food, the quality and taste is sublime. We don’t often have takeaways but make an exception with Mexi-Kernow. Today we tried the children’s boxes for the first time, and in the words of my 7 year old: “This chicken is epic!!!” Cannot recommend this little gem enough.

Picked up some takeaway from here.. was very impressed! Dirty fries with a lush veggie chilli topping, decent nachos, and very good chilli beef burrito.. Fresh raddish and spring onions with all the other toppings on fries was very tasty. Children loved there chicken strips & chips and brownie for £3 great price. If I am in the area again will defo stop by. Tasty food and good value. Gluten free options well catered for. Thanks!

Amazing food, menu is simple but delicious and specials are on most days too. Fab friendly team. Takes a little long for the food to be ready, that’s the only downside, even when it’s not that busy.

What a great place! The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was cooked in front of us in the immaculate kitchen. We had pulled pork and the vegan chilli and they were both absolutely delicious. I am delighted that we live locally so that we can visit regularly!!

We eat here at least once a week....just the thought of the food makes my mouth water. Excellent vegetarian food and a great choice of meat /fish meals. You would be crazy not to visit and once you have I guarantee you will return! Love it!!

The last place that you might expect to find a decent Mexican is in the depths of North Cornwall but Mexi-Kernow really is a wonderful surprise. You can expect a great selection of takeaway Mexican dishes - with a friendly and quick service. Overall it's a great place to get something a little bit different.

My other half and I regularly visit Mexi-Kernow, and every time we have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, and everything is made fresh on site, and in full view of the waiting area. Very friendly staff, and always prepared and served in a timely manner. Highly recommended.

We were recommended Mexi-kernow by friends & we live locally so thought we'd give it a go. We both had nachos, one with steak & one with pulled pork - both were amazing!

On our way to our AirBnB for the night, we passed this nicely painted cabin by the side of the road, advertising "Mexican street food". My febrile imagination started making up a story, strongly inspired by the film "Chef", in which someone was selling gourmet Mexican grub made with from well sourced local ingredients, from a location with low overheads.

We had another amazing meal tonight, best ever takeaway food. Thank you Matt we will see you again soon.
