Metos Coffee House London Highly recommended family run independent cafe 930543188 I would like to respond to the below one star comment . I am a regular at this lovely coffee house and believe I know the Barista you mention (husband of the lovely lady who runs front of house). The below exchange may well have been a pure misunderstanding - it sounds like a genuine question, resulting from his lack of awareness, limited English and an admittedly reticent demeanour, rather than rudeness instead. Fine for you to feel as you do, but I didn’t want others to be put off visiting this charming little family run cafe, which offers excellent espresso as well as home cooked snacks.

I cannot explain how furious I left this coffee shop. Myself and a party of 6 had coffee and cakes here, left for a quick wander around Mortlake Green so our little one could stretch his legs and returned shortly after. Myself and a friend then waited to use the bathroom, to which I said 'thank you' for as we exited. The barista then rudely confronts me in front of the entire place proclaiming "thank you for what exactly?!", as if we hadn't spent the entire morning in their establishment, investing into the company. Genuinely disgusting, and as a matter of principle, will not invest another penny here.

I had a very nice savoury pastry called Byrek which was both tasty, and at least a bit healthy I think because it had spinach inside the flaky pastry. I also had a cookie. It was a chocolate chip cookie and it was soft, rather than crunchy. I liked it very much because it was not too sweet and it went very well with the coffee. This is a small friendly coffee house very close to Mortlake station. It has warm lighting and a lot of natural wood in the decor and there is a feeling of being on holiday somewhere when you are there. I chose my treats from the counter display. But looking at reviews on Google Maps there may be a wider menu to choose from. The coffee was good, not quite my favourite coffee in the area, but Metos is on a less main road and so has a nicer position.

We went here as a family on a Sunday for lunch, the 4 of us ate in the bar ordered at the bar and were shocked to find we were charged 10% service charge for eating in the bar, which is separate from the restaurant, apart from bringing our food to our table I don’t know why we were charged this service charge for as we did not receive table service. The roast dinner we ordered at £21 each for myself and my partner was exactly the same size portion as my sons child’s roast that cost £8.50, when we complained to the manager we were told ‘to order a kids portion next time to save some money’, lovely customer relations, we were told that this is a chain. The place is always empty now we see why, the service is shocking, there are flies everywhere. We will not be returning to this profiteering extortionate bar again.

I ordered a burger from here and I then noticed the absolute filth behind the glass counter where the burgers are kept.. shocking

The tikka masala was horrible today. Hardly any taste, and way more sauce than chicken. It was also very watery, when I mixed my curry and rice together there was a big puddle at the bottom of my bowl! The food was also cold when it arrived (all of it) and the chapatti was soggy. Couldn’t even bare to eat it as it was all so soggy and watery and tasteless. Not sure if it’s different chefs as I’ve ordered from here before and it’s been fine but I definitely won’t be ordering again
