Metchy's Cafe in Cardiff

Called in for Sunday breakfast . Opted for a full English and a vegetarian . Most of the plate was deep fried . There was no butter for toast just margarine . Coffee was very nice , but for £13 for a full English this is well below the quality I would have expected

Amazing service. Gentleman at front of house was a really nice guy. We had English breakfast which I really liked. I wasn’t fussed on the bacon but that was self preferences. The eggs Benedict with bacon was amazing. Sauce wasn’t as flavoursome but still good. They had a bueno latte which was beautiful as you’d expect! All round great place to have breakfast looking forward to going back.

Popped in for a coffee before an appointment rather than going to a well known chain around the corner. Loved the decor and ambience of the cafe and had a playlist on that had loads of my favourite songs on. The gentleman who served me was very polite and the coffee was brought over to my table. I ordered a caramel latte and it was lovely - just the right amount of caramel for me. A table further over were eating breakfast and it looked delicious so will definitely be going back there to sample a full English soon.

I went for breakfast with my daughter and her boyfriend, my first impressions were good, I liked the set up, the guys behind the counter really helpful and courteous. I started to look at the menu and thought it a little pricey, £13.99 for a full English, I ended up having a light breakfast at £11.99, we also had a uni breakfast at £10.99 and eggs Florentine at £9.50… I was mistaken to think the breakfast included drinks, I had to fork out another £2.95 for a black coffee and £3.90 for a iced Mocha… OK, it’s a one off I thought and was looking forward to a really nice breakfast after a 4 hour drive… How wrong could I have been, it was nearly cold, the toast was white, served on a cold plate, the beans were luke warm at best, the black pudding stone cold, the fried egg undercooked, one small piece of bacon (there should have been two) and two cheap sausages (should have been one) that were tasteless, the hash brown was just about ok, but the sautéed potatoes were actually chips!!! There wasn’t any jam/marmalade for the toast either… I should have complained as it cost £39.33 in total but I didn’t want to embarrass my daughter in front of her boyfriend! I guess reading other reviews I was very unlucky… I will not be going again and I’d recommend looking around and finding somewhere cheaper that’s better quality! Sorry guys, you got it wrong today… the two stars was for the ambience, zero for the food!

It's ok,had breakfast and avocado, and eggs which wasn't fresh Avocado. Very expensive for what it was. Won't be back anytime soon ,

Awesome friendly service when they were actually shut. I hadn’t eaten all day and they allows me in to buy a hot drink and their last muffin. Yea it was only a muffin but their whole attitude was awesome.

Yesterday me my husband Steve & Rosie our family dog visited metchys, had such a warm welcome from the owner, took time out to chat with us & shared his pics of his dog too. The blueberry muffins were so damn yummie, washed down with a latte & a mocha, definitely a place not to be missed guys. Will be returning very soon to try their breakfasts. Had breakfast at Metchy's today and had to write a review, which I never do normally, because it was so good. We've walked past a few times whilst visiting my son, decided on here for breakfast, and it was such a good decision. The guy serving was great and friendly, the food delicious, 1 full English breakfast, 1 pancakes with bacon and a eggs royale. Place was clean and tidy,a solid 10/10. Will definitely visit again and would most definitely recommend.

Visited here twice over a long weekend visiting my daughter at Uni. Great people very friendly and serving fantastic breakfasts and other meals of course. The coffee is great and the whole place just has a great atmosphere about it. The Turkish guy running this place is such a lovely guy. I would definitely recommend trying this place for a great breakfast. Thank you guys.....

Spotted this great looking place when I was visiting the area, so decided to give it a try. Luckily it offered breakfast and as I was visiting the area early the following morning I decided to check it out!! Wow I was not disappointed, I indulged in a delicious eggs avocado on muffin washed down with a latte. The food was outstanding and the service just as good, with a warm welcome on arrival and throughout the duration of my visit. A beautiful establishment both inside and out with the added bonus they allow you to bring along your furbabies (dogs) so definitely a place we will be visiting again with the pooch. If you are in the area of Cathays definitely give this lovely place a visit, for breakfast, lunch or evening meal, wide range of menu selections and drinks available for all tastes. Just a very cool cafe. The Meche Burger is awesome as was the Greek salad. The prices are very reasonable. The service was great. The owner is charming. Worth a visit.

Really good food at reasonable prices. Very efficient staff, welcoming and attentive. Great cafe atmosphere. The food came really quickly and the staff where very helpful and polite. Great place to go for coffee or light meal/snack and meet with friends or family. Good value for money. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

I Messaged to book a table, had prompt replies. Very courteous. Allowed us to store our bikes inside as we ate outside. Our table was reserved. The food was gorgeous, the service was super. A great menu, and prices to match. Will definitely come here...

My gf & I called in to here for a coffee this morning. We ended up falling in love with the menu and had hot mixed meze and Hot halloumi breakfast. The food was tremendous and the coffee was great. Recommend it to all 😃

Fabulous , tasty, fresh food. Huge portions we had panini, breakfast, baguettes and coffees. Great value for money. About £8 each and took away what we couldn't eat. Lovely staff too.
