Very friendly guy took our orders, food was superb. Highly recommended if you want to try authentic Greek food.

Myself and my boyfriend recently dined here and were delighted with our experience. Despite them being busy, the manager managed to squeeze us in for a booking that same night! The star of the evening, apart from the delicious food, was our waitress, Katie. Even though it was only her first couple of weeks working there, she was an absolute gem—friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had the best experience possible. She took the time to explain the menu, recommended some incredible dishes, and her positive energy and hospitality really elevated the entire meal and experience for us. Would definitely recommend!

Truly an insult to the £30 + for two meals bought for my partners birthday. Read the reviews and chose here and were literally given portion sizes that we thought mustve been a starter. As a past resturant chef I'm more than aware of what's acceptable and this was something that you'd expect to be brought straight back into the kitchen with customers bailing out the door! Enough said.

This is a wonderful place. Relaxed atmosphere, great service and fantastic, traditional food. So many eateries advertise they are 'authentic'....this lovely restaurant really is. Another fantastic evening at Maria's last night. The team work incredibly hard to maintain this customer experience and it works. It's really a Special Place.

First time visiting here this evening 14/9/24. The service was outstanding, we had a large table of 12 and every single meal came out exactly the same time. There were only 3 staff working and every other table was full, so they went above and beyond. Atmosphere was great and value for money was superb. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend

Went to this place for dinner. Great portion sizes and enjoyed the food as well. The host was very friendly and I enjoyed the service. He left us to continue catching up most of the night but was very friendly when we interacted. I really loved the dessert - deserves a special mention. The pita was very enjoyable as well. Would recommend if you live around the area :)

Had a lovely lunch here with my son yesterday. We had the wraps with fries, I had the hallumi which was delicious and he had the pork Gyo which was also really nice. Very generous portions and freshly made. It felt like the authentic Greek restaurants we've been to on holiday, filled with lovely pictures of the Greek islands. The service was very friendly and we will definitely go back and recommend.

This is lovely genuine Greek Restaurant. Superb suthentic food and nicely decorated. But the noise in the restaurant is unbelievable! The nice Greek music struggled to compete with the noise of talking which was amplified by all the hard surfaces in the restaurant. It was only a third full but I could barely hear my wife speaking across the table. This problem could be considerably eased with a few Greek "throws' attached to the walls maybe? It is a pity since in many respects this is a great restaurant.

Maria's Tavern on Crwys Road was underwhelming. I had the leg of lamb in gravy sauce, which was okay but not memorable. The roast potatoes seemed reheated, and the sauce included just one diced carrot. My friend's pork chops with chips looked fine but didn't stand out. The food felt overpriced for the quality. However, the male staff member was funny and charming, which added a positive note to our visit. While I'm not saying don't try it, there are better Greek restaurants out there.

We went as a family of 5 for a celebration. The restaurant wasn't packed but the atmosphere was great, as soon as we arrived the restaurant switched to its evening hanging lighting. The kitchen is in view so you can see the chefs preparing your food. Marios, was our waiter and runs the restaurant with his cousins. He was happy to answer questions and to chat with us when we wanted. He helped us with certain deals that we had missed, which saved us money! The food was excellent and fresh. They encouraged us to share the starters with ew each other by offering us multiple plates. Tuesdays to Thursdays you can get a 3 course meal for £20 each, which worked out to be a great deal for us. A variety of prices, lower to higher end so lots of options for everyone. Would definitely recommend!

Had a meal there last night for my birthday. The food was absolutely stunning, can't wait to go back again. Guy working there was hilarious and very kind. Interacted with all of our party (14 of us) a really enjoyable night with my family and some of my favourite people. Would highly recommend a visit

Five people, 4 different meals. Food was excellent and good portion sizes My stefado was excellent We all had a few drinks and bill was under 150 so good value for money I'll be back

The staff were really nice. The food was delicious, especially the calamari! Will definitely be coming here again and trying out more of the menu. 10/10 recommend.

If you’re craving Greek holiday cuisine, look no further than Maria’s! We collected a takeaway from Maria’s, and it was absolutely delicious! We had Maria’s platter for two, which was a perfect selection of our favorite meats with salad, chips, and tzatziki. The atmosphere in the restaurant while I waited was lovely, the decor was traditional Greek taverna. We will definitely return to eat in!

Really great welcome and fantastic food

The chicken was undercooked, but fry at the same time. It had spices but were flavourless, the sauces were so simple and basic. Not sure how can one spoil Greek food so much.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. Spend few nights in Cardiff and visited twice with family. Definitely recommend to go and try. Most restaurants were empty during half term but Maria’s was full every night. Excellent 👌

One of the happiest meals I’ve ever had- great ambience, incredibly attentive and friendly service, unbelievably tasty, beautifully made, and nutritious food. And plenty of it! Extremely good value for money. Genuinely felt transported from Wales to someone else’s family in Greece for 2 hours. Will recommend to everyone I have ever met! Thank you, Maria’s!

Stopped by to grab a takeaway Souvlaki, it was delicious! Highly recommend. The restaurant was, given the quality of the food, unsurprisingly very busy!

We booked here for a Saturday evening of a hen party. I’d preordered food and was worried we wouldn’t have enough for 8 of us but the portions are huge and we definitely over ordered! However everything was so delicious particularly the feta bites. The staff were lovely and friendly and we had a great evening there 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Think there were more waiters needed on the evening I went. The restaurant was very full and the waiter rushed of his feet but kept a smile on his face. I will return though.

Fabulous meal, a very established restaurant so my family told me. The mezze was so tasty, the meatballs, smoky aubergine dip and crispy cheese bites were stunning. Followed by a greek coffee and orange sponge, sublime. I will be back! No non alcoholic drinks but had a soft drink, fairly busy too. Lovely place and staff aswell.

Fabulous evening spent as first time visitors, slight issue with booking quickly resolved and service was excellent as was the food! We all said we can't wait to go back!

We found this little gem on Trip advisor, so we ate on a mini break and fancied a greek, we were not disappointed. Staff were very warm and friendly, the restaurant even though it is small, was very well set out. The food was out of this world, very hot, tasty and generous portions. And the prices were very reasonable

We booked lunch here after reading the reviews. We must have had an off day because the food was very bland, with far too many olives. Based on the meal we had we won't be rushing back.

Me and family visited the restaurant after recommendation from a friend. The service was prompt, the food came quickly. Delicioouuus and freshly prepared meals, authentic Greek cuisine. My lamb chops were soft and juicy. We are very much satisfied from our visit. Will repeat definitely.

Had the Mezze here and was quite dissapointed! Some of it seemed to be out of a packet, it wasn't particularly well presented, and I would say overpriced for what it was. The main dishes looked quite nice but they didn't have much for vegetarians. As it is a Mezze restaurant, I would've expected the Mezze dishes to at least be as good as the full size ones. Nice atmosphere and the waitress was great, but there are nicer places.

Really lovely Taverna, took me right back to Antiparos and the staff were v friendly and helpful.

The food was delicious, originally Greek and authentic. Special thanks to the chef and his talent! The atmosphere was excellent and the music was lovely. One of the best restaurants in Cardiff and definitely a must-visit for all travellers!

Standard Greek fare, succulent grilled meat; soft freshly baked pitta, and good dips. The platters are good value, and they do a midweek £20 set menu.

A new find for us and an excellent choice, the food is exceptional, very tasty, well presented and very good value for money. My husband had the fish platter which was really lovely and I had lamb chops, beautiful cooked and presented.

Such a disappointment - fries were barely cooked. Minimal chicken in wrap (one piece) weird sauce that tasted like ketchup and no flavour at all. The chef got lazy, will not be ordering again.

Wonderful evening, great service, and the food was delicious. Lamb shank just melted/ fell off the bone and all the little dishes were equally all tasty. Thank you for a wonderful birthday meal for our friend. We will return. 🥰

Had a fantastic time at Maria's when we recently went for my birthday. The food was absolutely amazing, especially the halloumi, feta bites, hummus, pita and something for everyone (kids loved it!!). The staff are so so lovely. We will be back again soon.

I just had my souvlaki and halloumi fries...Halloumi was delicious but the souvlaki,the pita bread was straight from the fridge I guess as it wasn't cook at all plus the onion was way too many slices for one souvlaki...no I won't order again sorry...I ate it as I was starving...no shame

Maria's Greek Taverna Cardiff Located at 68 Crwys Road A small family run authentic Greek taverna with a lovely atmosphere Food is authentically Greek and freshly prepared with the best ingredients We had the authentic Greek Sausage , Keftedes , Seafood Platter ( which was huge ) and home made Moussaka ( which was stunning ) We also had several ouzos, a carafe of house wine fiished off with Matexa brandies and Greek coffees The Taverna is run by a lovely young Greek couple who are so warm and friendly and gave us such a great welcome and we will be definitely returning soon If you are looking for an authentic Greek restaurant with fabulous food with a lovely welcome them Maria's is definitely the place for you We recommend it highly Jeff & Karen

My wife and I visited Maria's Greek Taverna yesterday as my wife had never tried Greek cuisine before. I took her specifically to treat her for her birthday and a work friend of mine recommended this place. My first experience of having Greek food was in Crete in 2017 and since then, I have been a big fan of Greek cuisine but what makes Greek food always special is the love and passion Greek people pour into their dishes more than anything and it goes hand in hand with the nature of Greek people in general - one of the friendliest and most welcoming people on this planet. True to my words, the food that we ordered in Maria's Greek Taverna was top class, the service was beyond excellent, the ambiance was really amazing (really missing Crete now :D) and the people who served us were awesome. I should have taken their names but every staff we saw there were really welcoming, kind and friendly. My wife was absolutely delighted and she thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we chose. Mission accomplished XD This is easily one of the most recommended restaurants in Cardiff.

Very delicious food at a very good price. Student friendly. Although we ordered a plater for 2 it’s defo enough for 3 people even 4. The smaller dishes are excellent as well. But the best is their warm pita bread freshly served.

Made a last minute booking for Maria’s, it’s a lovely diner/tavern for some Greek style food. Have been a couple of times before and the food has always been lovely. We ordered the seafood platter each with a couple of sides, it was very tasty and couldn’t fault it at all. Staff has always been great, they are always helpful and friendly. Restaurant is very bright with lots of seating space and can’t fault the facilities. Will definitely come back again and recommend a visit

We are coeliac and need to eat gluten free. They were very accommodating and attentive in making gluten free food - and it was great!. Apparently they can make their own gluten free bread but did not have any that evening, really want to come back and try it. The service was great also, we ended up having a long chat after our meal.

Lovely food, the staff here are so sweet. They were super busy when we came, so they service was a little slower, however the atmosphere of the place meant it was nice to spend more time there! The food came and was delicious, and as an apology for the slower service we got drinks of the house, which was lovely. 10/10 would recommend.
