Met Cafe in Leicester

No complaints about the food, we were a table of six and had no complaints about the food, the drinks were a little pricey but that is the novelty of the shows, which are brilliant if timed well. We were sat down almost 10 minutes late which would’ve been fine, unfortunately our food had not long been placed on the table and they informed us they will need our table as they had another booked at 9pm, we didn’t get sat down until 7:25 meaning we only had 1hr 35 so enjoy our meal which was cut short in telling us we had 20 minutes until the next table was in, obviously we were shocked as we had only just started eating. As they cleared the table they placed the bill on the table too. If you don’t want to be rushed out I wouldn’t recommend here, no matter how nice the food is, a lovely meal was cut short and actually ruined the experience, also on the way out only one of the younger staff members thanked us and said good bye.

We visited on the back of the popularity on Open Table and other review/booking sites. The setting was interesting and once you get past the flowered wall by the bar, this is just one open expanse laid out with tables and chairs which are so crammed in that staff couldn’t deliver meals to each of us but instead we had to pass them down the table. The acoustics are awful and with the background music, it was very difficult to have a meaningful conversation at the table. Goodness knows what it must be like when it’s full! Then to boot you a blast of Bangla drums and tambourines when there’s a birthday in the room, escorting in a firework in a cake followed by a member of staff blowing an aerosol into it to mimic some kind of flamethrower which was a little unnerving. Staff seemed very uncoordinated, at times with us being asked if we would like to order our food, by three separate staff members. Now to the food…. The meals were tasty and spiced just right for us but struggled to see the “with a twist” that seems to be marketed on the website as the dishes were pretty standard Indian fair but priced at the top end of the scale in my opinion. The bowls were very cold so the food went cold quickly and the size of rice for the price compared to other curry houses was very very small !
