Chennai Dosa in Leicester

Very friendly staff. Love the food. But it's very spicy. My kids love their mini idles and faloda.

I ordered mutton biryani, chicken biryani, and gobi. It was delicious! I invited my girlfriend, and she was impressed by the taste

One of the worst customer service, The waiter wanted us to buy what he want not what we want😄.They don't take card, if the food is extra and if you ask to pack it they get disturbed. After insisting they brought us packaging box and asked us to pack it.

It doesn't have real authentic flavor of South Indian food. The foods are blunt and waste of money. Home food is 1000 times better than here. Even the chutney was not tasty. I asked for carbonated coke but they gave me a chlorinated coke. Please don't spoil the name of our South Indian food.

Should be 4 star but 2 star because do not accept credit card, not good. If I am paying tax then other should too plus it's very inconvenient, who carries cash these days.

Excellent quality of food and generous portion of food is served. Beautiful interior and comfortable seating. There is a great variety of food to give yourself a treat to a hearty South Indian food. I would definitely recommend masala dosa and idli. Paneer Shashlik is a masterpiece of flavour and texture and an absolute treat for the tastebuds. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Food is always good but need to improve their service on busy day.

We usually dine at another dosa spot in the area, but our kids insisted on trying Chinnai Dosa this time. The dosa here tasted amazing—crispy and packed with flavor. However, the filling was noticeably less compared to what we're used to at our regular place. The idli also seemed quite thin, almost like they were halves of a mini idli. The highlight of our meal was the masala fries, which I would definitely recommend. I'm considering a revisit to try their Chole Bhature; if it meets my expectations, that might be the only reason I'd bring the family back. For now, Chinnai Dosa isn’t on my list of regular eat-out spots.

Can't believe they only take cash luckily I went to try dosa after I finished my meal and went to pay for it they say only cash 🙃 lucky I got enough otherwise it was really bad experience for me they must have to accept degital payment or card payment.

It was our first visit to the restaurant, and we had an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the breakfast menu was both delicious and generously portioned.

We traveled all the way from London to have an authentic taste of South Indian Dosa. However, we were disappointed to find a toasted cockroach inside the dosa. The restaurant staff defended themselves by saying that it must have dropped from the ceiling. They insisted that they had no reason to lie. We would like to advise everyone to avoid this restaurant if possible. If you do decide to eat here, please open your food and inspect it before you eat.

Very authentic food and very delicious. Atmosphere is very nice and speedy service. A nice touch of a glass looking into the kitchen showing how the food is prepared. Definitely would recommend and the food is halal as well.

Chennai dosa is the best place to have the perfect Indian food the interior has a good vibe and the customer service is brilliant if they accidentally make a mistake they would immediately sort it out and apologize without any hesitation the food is pure and classic for a Indian place when the first bite goes inside your mouth it is with flavour.Thank you Chennai dosa to feed us it was great to have food with you.

I had mini Idlis, plain dosa and SI coffee from Chennai Dosa Leicester. I must admit, the food was delicious, the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxing and the staff are very nice and welcoming. I’m a regular customer here, love eating here. Keep it up guys!

They served spoiled Sambar for us. When we complained this to the staff they told that the same sambar was served to everyone which was freshly made on the day. However it was 100% sure that the sambar was spoiled. We are not sure whether we are going to get food poisoning. We will not recommend this restaurant to anyone in future.

Have been visiting this place for 2 years. Amazing South indian cusines and the best sambhar Chutney combination one can find in Leicester. A must visit place for anyone who loves South Indian Dishes. We were mostly served by Dhruvik & Kajani ( Amazing service ). Top notch staff. Recommended!

Disappointing biriyani experience, Worst ever biriyani in my life, The most glaring issue was that there wasn’t a single piece of chicken in the entire biriyani also over spiced rice. For a chicken biryani, this is absolutely unacceptable. I kept digging through the rice, i found a small piece of wings only.

Highly recommended for Dosa Lovers

First time in uk paid cash in the restaurant. Did not supply plate for eating, needed to remind staff to bring plates when the food arrived. Chicken chettinadu curry was horrible. Long waiting time after the order. Will not recommend to anyone.

We visit this restaurant frequently and usually receive good service. However, today the service was extremely poor. Although a table was allocated to us, we couldn't find anyone to take our orders once we were seated. We asked a lady staff member, Ms. Y, who was taking orders from a neighbouring table if she could attend to us, but she ignored us. We then had to approach a middle-aged gentleman at the billing station to ask if someone would be attending to our table. He said he would send someone. Later, a male staff member with black spectacles, Mr. X, took our order and then disappeared. We weren't even given a glass of water. After tracking down Mr. X, we asked for water and eventually received it. Mr. X then brought us a starter in a bowl without  plates, spoons, or tissues. We asked him to get these for us, which he did. After some time, Mr. X and Ms. Y brought our ordered items, but we didn't see them again until we went to pay at the end. Ms. Y attended to the tables next to and behind us but avoided making eye contact with us or asking if we needed anything. We noticed Mr. X leaving the building halfway through our visit.We needed some more water and as no one came around, we managed to grab a bottle of water from the next unoccupied table. After finishing our meal, we were unsure who to ask for a cup of coffee because Mr. X had left and Ms. Y did not seem interested. Finally, I went up to the billing station and asked for a cup of coffee, explaining the situation to the staff. This was a disappointing experience for us as regular customers, as we had never encountered these staff members before. Despite the restaurant being busy, the staff did not seem to care. This lack of attentiveness to customers will eventually lead to the restaurant being less busy. We travel several miles to dine here regularly ,but will reconsider exploring other avenues after todays experience

The best restaurant for India food. Specially best option for South India dishes. We Tried Idli, vada, sambar vada, rava dosa, masala dosa, chole masala, Ideyappam. My favourite is Ideyappam with coconut chutney. Service is also good. Love you visit again and again. Many kids friendly options and they offer small toys with kids menu items.

Ordered paneer masala dosa but it was tasteless. Masala dosa was also tasteless. Problem was with the potato crepe which was not mixed properly. Had dined twice previously and had good experience so brought more friends but tonight the experience was very poor

Yes, they accept only cash! *POOR SERVICE: staff are too late to take the order. They will take 20 to 30 minutes to take the order,then another 30 minutes to serve the food. Items will come separate with enough time gap. *The food was just average. *Wash area with just a single washbasin and soap is not available in the toilet.

Brilliant food, really enjoyed it and our waitress was really good and spoke Tamil which was a added bonus for my family, however service was really let down when it came to the end and we had ordered more food than we managed to eat. We asked for some takeaway boxes about 3/4 to pack the remaining dishes as they were untouched and the rude manager had a disgusting attitude and charged me £1 for the take away boxes. The money is really not the issue as I left more than that in tips for the girl who served us but it is the principle. How do they expect customers to take their food home if they’ve got left overs. I’ve been to many Chennai Dosa branches and this is a first. When questioning the manager he had nothing to say but his goofy smirk. Disgusting service from the managers part.

Improving at every visit! Clean, modern, lovely staff, although communication can be a little tenuous at times. Inexpensive meal out with such tasty food! Best sambar vadai (pictured) & chicken cotthu parotta ***** May 2024 - food never disappoints! Have become far too regular a visitor here - just get such a feel good factor from the food served. Still loving the above dishes, but starting to branch out a little more now. Highly recommend King Fish, Chicken Chettinadhu curry & the plain naans are to die for! Yesterday (5th May) it was so busy, but standards were still as high as ever. The staff, both front of house and kitchen were working their socks off, but still managing to keep calm and focused. If you haven't tried Chennai, then why not? Keep up the good work!

Tasty food, reasonable price, clean

What a terrible experience, waiting staff are poor, we had to call them over 3 times to order, the Dosa's were OK, however butter chicken curry tasted like fish, looks like the chef used the same spoon....tandoori chicken came and it was swimming in butter!!!!!! Thank went straight in the bin...its cash only and no receipt or bill given beforehand or after paying...plenty of better places in leicester...I seriously advise ypu to eat elswhere
