This spot is great for a quiet lunch made with the freshest ingredients. We loved the Brie & cranberry grilled cheese sandwich, but everything, every salad & dessert was delicious!!

I love trip advisor for finding gems like this. Amazing place to eat, all food in clear view prepared freshly on the premises. The tomato & Feta soup was utterly delicious especially great value with a cheese toastie. My husband had Brie & Bacon which came with the most amazing salad. Top place highly recommended with a beautiful smiley owner.

Friendly service with fantastic food! We ordered lunch & were served quickly, which is always good. I had a goats cheese & beetroot toasty which came with a small selection of side salads. It was all fresh & tasty. My mother was genuinely surprised by the amount of food on her plate, that was quite amusing. I had a look around at the other customers food - the pancakes were amazing! We would have loved a cake from them because they looked delicious but couldn't fit them in. If we go back to Ripon we'd love to visit again! The cafe is at the top of the building so if you get a window seat you'll get an interesting view of the going-ons down on the street. One of the most important things to me about this place is that it's dog friendly which definitely isn't the case everywhere in Ripon!

Fabulous food and excellent service. Have had delivery of drip cake and afternoon tea in the first lockdown and was impressed with the quality of products. Have visited a few times since and always impressed, even if they don’t have your preferred cupcake they time the time to decorate while you wait. Now back in another lockdown and had afternoon tea delivered to my mum and they even managed through the snow! Just superb in every way.

Lovely cakes and drinks. We previously had a drip cake delivered during lockdown and that was lovely so now it’s back open we decided to go in and try some of their other offerings. We had the chocolate and biscoff cake, blueberry scone and caramel milkshakes. All were lovely and good sizes too, would definitely recommend and will be going back!

My sister ordered some treats for our parents for Father's Day and asked for them to be delivered. She ordered a picnic box and afternoon tea. Delivery was organised with a 2 hour window. The delivery was made promptly within the allocated time but unfortunately my parents had forgotten and were out! My sister was immediately informed of the predicament so she was able to make contact with them. We were so incredibly grateful that Messy Buns were happy to redeliver a short while later. Mum and dad were thrilled with the contents of their delivery and delighted with the gift. So we thank you so much for being so obliging. Your customer service was fabulous. We will definitely use you again. Sarah

First visit, came because of a few recommendations from friends. Had a lovely cheese/tomato/spring onion scone, very tasty and a pot of tea. The place is very clean and light and airy, however I think they need more chairs to sit on( see photo). Only a minor gripe but one that can be easily resolved. I will definitely visit again as the menu looks yummy!

The food here never disappoints. I haven’t had chance to sit in at the new premises yet but I’ve been in a few times for takeaway goodies and they do not disappoint. The chocolate orange brownies are amazing! And the cheese scones are delicious! You can tell that all the food here is fresh and homemade. Every time I have been in I’ve had a nice warm welcome, and it always seems to be busy which is a good sign, and it’s doggy friendly too! I hope to pop in soon and try something from the lunch menu as there are some great choices on there.

It was our second visit to Messy Buns but our first in the new premises. The new premises are bigger and lighter, hopefully being upstairs won't put people off. There was no welcome as we arrived unlike others who arrived later getting a welcome and a "will be with you shortly"There was two types of cheese scone, one with spring onion and the other with tomato which were on display and looked good.I chose the onion one.My husband chose the very berry one both to be served with butter.Mine came from the back and my husbands from the display. His was lovely full of fruit and moist mine was dry and tasteless.I can only assume it was left over as it was removed from the blackboard shortly after I had it.They both came with what we assumed was butter in a jar but on trying it it was obvious it was stork spread. We were asked if we had enjoyed what we had and we explained about he cheese scone and spread. There was a sorry but we were told it was a spreadable butter which obviously wasn't true as you could see the container. We heard another couple comment to themselves that they disappointed with the spread for their toast. If it says scone and butter that's what it should be.

We discovered Messy Buns by chance when visiting Ripon. It has recently moved to a new premises on the top floor of a small arcade of independent shops on Duck Hill, just off Kirkgate. It is a bright, spacious coffee shop with friendly welcoming staff. Our scones were great and the garnishes were a really nice touch. The sandwiches looked generous, with interesting fillings, we will definitely try one of them next time. The cakes on display were very tempting too. Prices were excellent value. We would definitely recommend Messy Buns, its well worth a visit.

I bought some scones at a Village Fair baked by Lydia of Messy Buns. They were delicious and consequently I have been back for more to this querky little tea room. I have also had lunch at Messy Buns a few times. Sandwiches, fresh and delicious, particularly the Bacon, Rocket and Tomato served on brown bread with a small salad and a potato salad. Cakes are delicious too, especially Coffee & Walnut. Tea served in a nice big teapot.

On a really miserable day my mum and I decided to pop in for cake and coffee. Despite the weather the owner was in high spirits and chatted away with us and made us feel really comfortable and relaxed. My mum had a latte and loved it there was even some cute coffee art on top. We both had the blueberry scones and words can not describe how perfect they were. I have been in before for a sandwich and knew I had to go back for cake. Really affordable and amazing food. Would recommend to anyone visiting ripon. Service is absolutely incredible and friendly.

Messy Buns is a delightful cafe where one can order cakes for special occasions. So it was with great pleasure we ordered a chocolate cake shaped like a book for my father's 90th. He was an English Teacher who still delights in literature and adores chocolate - so this cake could not be better.

I've visited Messy Buns a couple of times now on trips up to Ripon and it never fails to disappoint. The cafe is tucked away just a few seconds walk from the main square and is a lovely little place to go and watch the world go by. The home baked cakes are amazing and the cafe also does a range of soups and sandwiches for lunch which are all generously sized in terms of portions. I would definitely recommend this to other visitors to Ripon.

Visited Messy Buns on the off chance they could make me a cake for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, met by Lydia and nothing was going to be a problem! I told here the type of cake, size and flavours and then showed her a picture of what I had in mind. I collected the cake on time and everyone thought the cake was amazing to look at and taste so recommendations all round. Will just have to visit and try her other cakes now!!

I always stop in when in Ripon. The coffee is good, the cakes are always fresh and delicious! I am blueberry scone fan myself so I always opt for those when available. Nice to see locally produced food, using local ingredients. The proprietor also told me she sells her wares on the Harrogate Food Forum, so I'll be checking that out. Sounds a great idea!

Amazing. I am working my way round the granolas and bircher mueslis of Harrogate and Leeds and this one might have just taken top spot! The granola is delicious, chia yoghurt also, and so much fresh fruit. None of the compote nonsense so many places are providing! My friend had the pancakes which I also tasted and will be ordering next time (preferably tomorrow as I can't wait to go back) as they were so tasty (and not too sweet). The more savoury dishes looked excellent too. Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The kitchen is open so you can see exactly what's going on and smell the delicious smells. The whole place is light, airy and clean. Great soap in the loos too! If I could rate it higher I would. My new favourite place. See you in there whilst I work my way through the entire menu.

The atmosphere was chilled and fairly quite. The menu quality ha a variety amazing options to choose for example the latte was £3.20. We had exceptional service from Euan and Iona! The hygiene was 10 out of 10 cleaning service state of the art. The prices are reasonable and not to expensive compared to the other cafes. Accessible wheel chairs is very good they can manage to get in and out to go through a magical a garden to chill out and have amazing time with their drinks! overall very outstanding service and definitely come back and we will look forward to see you again soon.
