Mermaids Fish & Chips in Winchester

Disrespectful ignorant staff. Walked in got looked at 2 times and just sat on his phone. Both member then looked at me then went out back. Ignored me didnt say hello or anything just silent. So i turned around and walked out the shop. Also pricing is disgraceful.

Reheating doner meat in front of me and it costing 10 quid is ridiculous ill never use this again highly suggest everyone avoid like the plague

Very disappointed. Twice I have bought from here. The first time it was so expensive but I thought that it was because I was feeding a lot of people. So gave it a second chance today. We ordered 2 medium cod and chips but were charged for large and we also had a battered sausage and chips. We were told a six minute wait and thought, ‘lovely, fresh cooked fish’ but no instead we were given the ones that had already been sitting there. The chips, were a very mixed bag literally. Some tasted lovely but some tasted old and stale. Even though it is local I would rather drive past and go to the much cheaper and far tastier one in St Cross. The fish was more comparable in size with what I would expect for a small although the chips were bountiful most were thrown away as they weren’t nice. We will not be returning, such a shame!

Not only fish and chips which are very good and cooked to order usually so be prepared to wait but also pizza and fried chicken and all the usual things you would expect at a fish and chip shop.Parking outside which is free.Also a local shop,launderette and chinese take away which is also excellent.Note the fish and chip shop closed Mondays and the Chinese closed Tuesdays.Both are able to deliver within Winchester.

Una tienda luminosa y muy limpio, un sonriente saludo amable, un montón de cosas para elegir. Yo salí con muy buen pescado y patatas fritas.

¿Por dónde empiezo? El bacalao fue hecha y el bateador en los extremos casi sólido, no tiesa. Las patatas fritas sabor (y parecía) como si hubieran sido ya preparado previamente y había sido recalentados. El Pea Churro y Salchichas en masa eran insípidas. No podía probar la sal y vinagre. También tienen pizzas que espero son mucho más sabroso. Atroz.
