Meow in York

Yummy! Both the chicken gyoza and the famous waffle was delicious! The creams and cookie tea was yummy too! Took a little time but so worth the wait!

My family enjoyed coming here for dessert. The bubble waffle was pricy but so huge it was big enough for two adults and children to share. The staff were friendly. My children loved the pink, cat themed interior. The waffle was tasty but the cookies on top were a bit hard.

The mango bubble tea with strawberry bubbles and it was lovely. Very nice girl who worked there but could of done with a 2nd worker.

Had higher hopes of this bubble tea, but was vastly disappointed with my order. The boba was really hard and the drink tasted terribly watered down. 🥲

We have never had a bao before so this was a totally new experience for us. We chose a pork and a chicken bao for £12 and some spicy chips for an extra £5. The food was made freshly to order and tasted very good although a bit on the spicy side for us. The portion of chips was of generous size but the bao are a bit pricey for such a small portion. They are very cute though with the little cat marks on the side. We followed this with a Ferrero rocher and Kit Kat bubble waffle which we found to be delicious. The atmosphere of the cafe is nice and the staff friendly. Overall we enjoyed the experience and would be happy to come again.

Popped in late afternoon after walking round the Christmas market. Ordered 3 smoothie drinks for the kids which came to £16, then had to wait about half an hour for them to be made!! Terrible service. The lady was training somebody up but managed to make 4 drinks rather quickly for what appeared to be her boyfriend.

Visited on a cold day, and it was equally cold inside. No heating on so the windows were very steamy and dripping condensation (which felt a bit grubby to me). The man serving was training a new member of staff. We had to wait several minutes whilst he completed a bubble tea for the previous customer then we had to wait an age for our order while he talked the trainee through every step. It was deadly quiet. Probably best to attend to your paying customers as opposed to making them wait far longer than necessary. Man also managed to set the fire alarm off which was VERY loud, and then he said ‘it’ll go off in a minute’, he didn’t make much effort to stop it, until sending the trainee employee to open the side door after we had to cover our ears. This obviously did nothing to help the freezing temperature inside. Customer experience left a lot to be desired. I was disappointed with my bubble waffle. The waffle itself was tasty, crispy and fluffy inside. However, there was an extra charge to ‘upgrade’ to one scoop of ice cream and the toppings (cookies and cream, and choc chip cookie) tasted a little stale. I agree this place is all about aesthetic. The toppings are too cumbersome, I’m not saying there is too much, just that the whole thing had to be eaten in its constituent parts as the Oreo/ cookies were just on top. Maybe crush them up? Or use minis? I also think soft serve ice cream would be better, again I had to eat this separately. It was expensive, £7.50 for a ‘premium’ waffle with two toppings, but we were told we couldn’t have two toppings the same so only chose one. £6.50 for a normal waffle and £6 odd for a brown sugar milk tea. And don’t forget the 60p each to upgrade to a scoop of sub par ice cream. If the quality was there, it would be worth the price. But it just wasn’t. I wouldn’t visit again, maybe I just caught them on a bad day.

This spot gives extraordinary service and yummy meals. One of my favourite restaurants around town. The meals and bubble tea served rapidly and the rates were reasonable. Can totally recommend it and will definitely come back again.

I took my borther out for bubble waffles and I was not disappointed. The quality of the waffles was superb. You get to choose two toppings from a given category, choice of whipped cream or vanilla/chocolate ice cream (for an extra charge), and one of the sauces (strawberry, caramel or chocolate). I chose seasonal fruits and panda biscuits with whipped cream and chocolate suace. The price I think was very good for what we recieved although I was hoping for some more fruits. Overall it was very, very tasty but a little too sweet for my liking. Also definitely built more for the aesthetic rather than practicality of eating the waffles haha. But we both enjoyed, and I would reccommend giving it a try!

I visited with my daughter last week, and they absolutely loved it. She had the brown sugar tea and I tried a matcha with tapioca, all delicious! The young lady serving us was also lovely and treated us very well. Would definitely recommend!

Authentic & fresh oriental street food. Quick and very friendly service, and the food was amazing! Really great value for money because they did a 4 for £10 Bao bun offer, and the salt and pepper fries were a very large portion enough for 2 adults to share.

Very cute and cosy environment, I myself am disabled meaning I’m non verbal and went in with out my carer for the first time minus the anxiety that comes with my disorder I had a very pleasant time , they were very understanding and accommodating towards me , neurodivergent/ disabled approved 😁 as for the food , the bubble waffle was heavenly and the size definitely does not disappoint for the price , my only critique would be is if you’re impatient don’t expect super speedy service I tend to be waiting 5-10 minutes depending on busyness but the store has very comfy and warm indoor seating so personally it’s not a negative as I feel the time reflects the quality , good things come to those who wait ✨

We called today to this beautiful little Japanese shop for the famous bubble waffles we had heard so much about and they did not disappoint, followed by a Mango bubble pop ( highly recommend) and Macha brownie Drink (amazing) we will definitely be calling In again the next time we are in York, Thank you to the girls on the counter for all your help too.

1st time here and loved the food and drinks. We had the pork bao bun, chicken gyoza, spicy fries and bubble tea, everything is made to order and delicious. The staff were super friendly and recommended additional places to visit in York which we thought was a very nice touch. Great services and great food, wish there was one closer to our home as is definitely worth returning!!
