Delicious takeaway from our local last night. The curries were both excellent, and different from what you see on your standard takeaway menu. Great saag paneer too, and nice rice. Only let down I would say was the naan's which were both a little stale and brittle. But they did make my Garlic Naan into a Garlic and Chilli naan which was much appreciated, thanks!

We ate on site once and picked it up once. And both times delicious!! Really delicious food!! The portions are quite large (when taken away)! We had a lot left over. But really; sooo delicious!!!

Visited on a Sunday evening. It was quiet in the restaurant but could see they also do a great trade in takeout. All the food was very tasty and served hot 👍 The service was very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend 👍

Chicken was awful, texture like over cooked cheap steak. No idea when it was originally cooked but it wasn't that same day. Rice was devoid of flavour. Disappointing to say the least, first and only time we will be dining here.

Consistently Superb Cuisine We come to Memsaab relatively regularly, and have been doing so for some years now. We usually buy takeaways, but occasionally eat in the restaurant too. The food has always been delicious and cooked well, and the service is polite, friendly, and efficient. After having tried other Indian restaurants in the locality, I would elect Memsaab as the best Indian restaurant in the area. Lately, I have seen and been quite concerned by a few disappointing online reviews from other diners written during the earlier months of 2023, interestingly being submitted on mobile. We dined at Memsaab for New Year’s Eve 2023, and as well as having a very good meal, we observed other diners, and the waiting times for a few customers collecting takeaways, and noted precisely none of the problems described in the aforementioned reviews. Our meal worked out at roughly £25 each, including drinks and service (at 10%) – this restaurant offers great food at good value! We had a very good evening with excellent food, promptly and politely served. When we arrived, we were promptly shown to our table, noticing the manager was absent from his usual spot. The kitchen and front of house operated smoothly, and he later appeared in chef's whites, explaining he had assisted in the kitchen due to a surge in orders. Our drinks and papadoms came very quickly, with generous quantities of four relishes. For our meal, we ordered eight dishes, which we shared between us. The time from ordering to serving at the table was around 25 minutes (the order was freshly cooked). We ordered a range of dishes, starting with the chicken dhansak, which was very tasty, coming with freshly cooked pilao rice. To join this, we ordered: a vegetable korma (delicious creamy sauce, with a good variety of vegetables, all gently and subtly spiced, and plenty of coconut); a chana masala (gently spicy, well-balanced flavours); onion bhajis (generously portioned, freshly cooked and pleasantly moist and crisp); saag paneer (deliciously creamy, very vegetarian friendly); brinjal bhaji (not actually on the menu, but the chef made a very decent effort, considering it was only cooked in less than half an hour). We also ordered peshwari naan, which had generous quantities of ground almonds and coconut. As we were there, the restaurant was reasonably busy, with multiple people collecting takeaways, and many restaurant tables being occupied. There were no apparent delays in service, and people around us were notably satisfied, especially the group opposite our table. In light of potential concerns delineated in a few reviews from earlier in the year, our visits during 2023 serve to validate Memsaab’s sterling standards in quality, service, and ambience. I hereby warmly express my continued recommendation for Memsaab of Lavenham. PS: a (belated) Happy New Year! As we embark on 2024, let's appreciate the hard work of restaurants and ensure that our critiques are constructive and fair.

Good quality food, but the service is painfully slow. Takeaways are never ready on time. Even if you order for a set time slot in an hours time, it can still an additional 20 minutes to be finished and ready for collection whilst you stand and wait. As I've said, the food is good but the wait times make the restaurants in long melford a better option.

Service was good. Food was just ok, quite expensive compared to other restaurants.

Very disappointing, when you pay a premium price for food and yes it the most expensive in the area you expect a good service. Unfortunately the manager last night was extremely rude and really needs a lesson on how to talk to customers. Giving a poor service to local people is not f going to do your business any favours.

Visited yesterday evening ,the food was very disappointing to say the least ,the starter of sheesh kebab looked liked it had been cooked from frozen ..my chicken bhuna had to be sent back as it was cold ,the side dishes had no flavour at all ...naan bread didn't even look like an authentic naan.we left most of the food and was charged £82.91 .This restaurant should serve better food especially being in Lavenham ,will not be returning .

Delicious food. The portions are large, so we had two meals out of the order. If you enjoy Indian flavours do yourself a favour and visit.

Food wasn't freshly cooked. I also got food poisoning. Will not be returning.

First time takeaway as moved near by . Chicken tilka bhuna less than average . Tiger prawn bhuna asked for mild was hot ! Mushroom rice Poppadoms were stale, tiny portion of onion salad, and lime pickle tasted very oily and cheap. I really don't like to complain but at over £45.00 nearly, it was very poor quality, we won't be going there again. Such a shame as it seems hard to get a decent restaurant takeaway anywhere now. Especially in Lavenham or long melford . Think lockdown killed everything good.

Excellent Indian restaurant with some unusual dishes. Always high quality & delicious.

I had a garlic chilli vegetable curry which was great, with a mushroom. I also had veggie samosas to start which were nice, just the right amount of pastry to make them really light. The staff were attentive. It was quite quiet when we went, I should imagine the atomsphere is good when it is buzzing with people.

Excellent food, but be prepared to pay over the odds tourist prices.

The wait time was longer than I would normally tolerate and there is a 10% service fee, but the food was extremely tasty so I’m giving it 5 star. Portions could be a bit bigger - they were slightly smaller than other Indian restaurants. Price was not too bad though.

Not only is the food delicious and the service excellent, but the setting is really lovely, as well. Outside in the garden, you can feel like you are eating in a different world. It is a great place for a meal in Lavenham.

A mixed review. The restaurant came highly recommended and I was really looking forward to the visit. The menu choice was excellent, the food was exceptional and couldn't be faulted. Sadly the staff on the other hand were unwelcoming and cold from the moment we arrived, not engaging in any friendly conversation, which came as a great shock considering it was our first visit and the good local reputation the restaurant has. Perhaps they were having a bad day, but a friendly smile works wonders. Not to sure about making another booking.

food was okay but staff was very rude at every chance. When we booked a table we got a phone call back asking us to come earlier due to needed the table back asap. Once we arrived we was rushed the hole time with the staff 'huffing' as they wanted the table back at 8PM (we arrived at 5:30PM). We was given the bill before we was even asked if we wanted desert.. In my opinion i would avoid at all cost. We spent £150+ and got a very poor service.

We go here regularly. The garlic naan, dansak and Rogan Josh are our faves but there's a full menu with specialities. It's comfortable inside over two rooms but there's also a cute garden for dining too :-)

Stopped here on a Monday night and it was outstanding so felt compelled to leave a glowing review. Best curry I have had in some time. Wonderful flavour and superb side dishes also. Thoroughly recommended. Given it was a Monday food was ready very fast and we did not have to wait as other reviews suggested. Chicken shashlik Bhuna highly recommended.

We stopped in Lavenham on a beautiful sunny day and had lunch here in the secret garden. Amazing food and lovely, friendly staff. Thanks again Raj and hope to see you soon!

Had takeaway a number of times and always excellent. Dining in a bit mixed, though - we waited two whole hours for food (arrived at 7:30pm, ordered within ten minutes, but although poppadoms came fairly quickly, our main courses then didn't appear until well after 9:30pm). Perhaps the kitchen was too busy with takeaway orders!

Popped in in the off chance for a bite to eat after a bisy Friday. Raj was very accommodating, cleared us a table and quickly served our meals. Absolutely tip-top food and service. Will be our go to place now.

Had a lovely lunch here today. It's has been made to look very nice with heaters for every table with outside dining. Staff very helpful and friendly.

First time visiting Memsaab. Used the take away service as unfortunately covid has shut down the restaurant side during lockdown. Firstly the place is excellently covid secure. No problems with laying or picking up the food. I ordered online and it was quick and easy. With payment of cash at the restaurant. Extensive menu, lots of choices, well laid out and descriptive. I ordered various dishes of lamb and chicken. Food was excellent and delicious. Good portions. Nice cuts of meat. No fat or gristle. Good sauces. Heat description accurate. This was far from the run of the mill high street Indian takeaway. Food was flavourful, spicy and superbly cooked. I have to say this was a great experience and I can not wait to visit after lockdown. Thank you all at Memsaab. Will definitely visit again 10/10

More than an hour waiting for food in the restaurant while takeaway customers continually served. Food pretty good when finally arrived but some people gave up and left.

Didn't get what I ordered and if it was, was a poor interpretation, that was on 2 main curries but what I did get was delicious and tasty. Also asked for extra coriander , which I also didn't get. The veg starters were also delicious. So if you want a tasty curry, this is the best option in the area.

5 STARS (best Indian) Memsaab has been my families go to place for as long as I can remember. They never fail to be welcoming, talkative and helpful when describing dishes to us. We are always treated with such politeness. The food is amazing, we get takeaway for everyones birthday and celebrations. Definitely our go to place. Its also in the heart of Lavenham and very easy to fine. Honestly couldn't recommend this Indian enough. Will continue to go here for many years to come. Would also just like to say a massive thank you for the amazing service and food you have given my family and I over the years.

Totally Disappointed. Booked a table a week in advance of my birthday meal but when we arrived they had no table available, told we should try again in around 30 minutes, you can't wait at the restaurant it's hasn't a bar/reception area! Another party arrived just before us, given same answer. As we left another party of 6 were just about to be disappeared. Total Disappointment for many and no real apology given.

Food was good. Service friendly. Forgot about no coriander on one of groups dishes but sorted it out quickly.

Really lovely restaurant with some curries and dishes that I have't seen before. We both tried new curries and it was delicious, the naans are already cut up so they don't take up half the table which is thoughtful. Restaurant itself is stylish and also felt traditional, staff are very friendly and it was busy which is also a good sign. If I lived in the area than I would be back.

Bloody useless, the Prawn curry that was not cheap really hurt my eyes, trying to find the prawns amongst way to much really oily sauce, Yuk😕

Seeking a change from ‘hotel fare’ we ate here tonight and what a great meal we had. Freshly cooked dishes with plenty of flavour. A warm welcome, friendly service and fascinating decor completed the evening. One of the best Indian meals we’ve had for a very long time. Thanks to all.

The flavours in the food are just spectacular. It's like eating a bowl of colour! Service times are generally good and the waiting staff are very nice.

Went here on Valentines evening, was rushed in and out did not even get time to finish dinner. Although the food was good the whole experience was ruined by bad service.

Cute place with a lovely name, but shame the food is too much adapted for the western palate. Most dishes were either sweet or bland. Not authentic Indian and I wouldn't be coming back for sure.
