The Bull in Babergh

The Hotel is great. Staff are great, rooms, the service, everything. Except the new menue. There is no alternative to meat dishes. The vegetarian options and the fish dishes are tiny, overprices readymeals, very dissappointing. The Katsu Curry is a joke. I have had Currys in Green king before that were nice but calling a bed of rice, some chips and bredded chicken with curry sauce poured over a curry, is very sad!

Lovely venue, cosy with a fire going and friendly staff. The food was excellent and well priced.

Toilet pans much to low for people to sit on, breakfast service was bad , waited 1 1/ 2 for breakfast, the dining room was full and only one waitress and one cook is slave treatment, the waitress was amazing, so over worked, come on The Bull, that's no way to run a business

I would never normal leave a review for a chain (that being Green King). But having stayed here for a friend’s wedding last weekend I felt I had to. The breakfast the vibe of the place but most of all the staff was what really stood out to me. We had a minor mix up with our room which was our fault in part. But they really went above and beyond to accommodate us. Overall just really good nice people work here and you really feel this when you stay.

We went to a wedding but didn't stay the night. It is a lovely old Inn with all the oak beams and lots of character. Supposed to be haunted!...all the staff were lovely and the wedding was wonderful so I would recommend if you are looking for a suitable venue licensed for weddings and plenty of rooms for your guests if they wish to stay the night. We really enjoyed visiting and hope to come again soon!

Each course was disappointing in its own way. The 'risotto' consisted of undercooked rice in a watery green soup - very sad and inedible. The accompanying fish was nicely cooked and tasty, but the risotto made the main a big letdown, especially for the price. The brownie was dry and cakey, rather than fudgy. The prawn cocktail with avocado was mediocre, and only had 2 small slices of avocado. Plenty of prawns though. I tried to like it, but I left the restaurant feeling disappointed. Rooms are a bit old and creaking, but do the job. The bed is nice. Front desk staff was lovely.

Wonderful stay at the Bull. Our room was beautiful clean and extremely spacious. The breakfast was outstanding and the staff were so helpful and friendly!

The Bull 2 night stay with family. Excellent service gorgeous meals. Friendly staff. Good value . Steeped in history. Picturesque village. Will. stop again.

Had lunch. Food was good and beer ok. Barman was tying his hair into a ponytail while serving. Not a good sight. Left the bar for long periods so there was no one to serve when I wanted to order. Would not recommend.

Absolutely fantastic hotel! Full of history and character. Stayed for four nights in a very nicely appointed room. Cozy, comfortable and atmospheric. Restaurant facilities were excellent. Great quality food, superb service & professional, friendly staff. Perfectly situated in town, giving easy access to local attractions. Our second visit and definitely returning.

You will love this genuinely old unusual pub. Go in, look around. I like this old sort of place.....staff are friendly and helpful.

Me and my partner stayed here for my birthday weekend and loved it. We stayed for two nights in the hotel and the room was lovely, comfortable bed and very clean inside the room. Had an evening meal each night and we both enjoyed the food, the service was great as well. Breakfast was very nice, they have a good selection to choose from and again the service was great. There was an issue with the heating one of the mornings but the staff dealt with the problem and kept customers up to date. Special mention to John and Sarah, made us feel very welcome and went above and beyond customer service. Would definitely like to stay here again and recommend to anyone to stay here.

We have just had an amazing couple of days with Jake our dog who was made very welcome. Gary, Julie and the whole team were friendly and professional. The food was excellent would definitely come again.

Apart from a minor issue at check-in where we'd been allocated a twin room rather than the double we'd pre-booked* we've just returned from another wonderful stay at The Bull in Long Melford. As usual the room was excellent, toasty warm and spotlessly clean and all the staff at the hotel were very polite and friendly. Our rate included breakfast and the 2nd morning we went without the Full English option as the sausages and bacon weren't to our taste (but never have been). We did try them on the 1st morning as it's a while since we've been but sadly they haven't improved. This wasn't an issue as the sour dough toast we had on the 2nd morning was absolutely delicious and I can thoroughly recommend it. * Resolving the issue was a little more problematic than I expected but I guess it can be difficult when the check in gentleman was having to deal with a central, corporate booking system. Ultimately though it was resolved and didn't have a negative impact on our delightful stay at The Bull, nor will it stop us returning as it is a terrific hotel with delightful, very clean rooms and is staffed by wonderful people. 10/10 again. 👍

Stopped here for Sunday lunch, reasonably priced and very tasty but could of been a little hotter.

Hi, I stayed at the Bull mon 26 feb/tue 27 Feb. The welcome from reception was outstanding. My room was immaculate and worth every penny. This pub is managed superbly and every single member of staff is an absolute asset to GK. I can’t wait to visit again. Surprise visit as we were planning to go somewhere else but that was closed. Incredible interior and great service. We expected a standard Greene king pub but that was everything but standard.

Fascinating old half-timbered inn, the epitome of an English country pub. I had Sunday lunch in the bar. The staff were very friendly and the service was very quick. My only reason not to award it five stars is that the vegetables were a bit tired by the time I was eating (just before 3pm on a Sunday). It was good, but not the best I've ever had. Well worth a visit, but maybe don't leave it too late to dine at lunchtime.
