Fantastic food and great service. Well priced for the high standard of food you get. Definitely go again.

This has been my favourite restaurant since around 1999 when I lived nearby. Now we're in the Midlands we visit as often as we can when back on the Isle of Dogs, this was our second of three visits on this trip. The food was lovely. I had crabcakes to start followed by a mixed chicken / lamb biriani, delicious and the chef kindly tailored the main course to my desired spice heat. My wife had chicken tikka, prepared perfectly; moist, tender melt-in-the-mouth, with sag paneer and black dal. A super place to eat with friends, we're back again tomorrow!

Heard great reviews about the restaurant. Well it met its high reputation and expectations. The food was delicious and the meat was nice and tender. Well seasoned and perfect spiced. Their chilli sauce was amazing. And had the chance to meet the headchef/manager. The staffs were polite and hospitable. And catered for our needs. I will definitely go again.

Delicious food with rich and exciting flavours spanking the geography of India and bringing real delight. Lovely warm, kind waiting staff. Nice quiet spot and free parking is a bonus.

We stayed on the Isle of Dogs and found this restaurant on the Web close by. Tried to order online but German phone did not allow us to proceed. So we went there to order at the place and of course got the 20% discount. While waiting we had 2 Kingfisher beer that compensated price wise the reduction. Anyway best Indian food I ever had, unfortunately the rice was forgotten to compensate the heat. This was really disappointing and I hope this was just a mistake. Therefore we stay with 4 stars.

Really recommend this restaurant. Free parking as you arrive , looking over the Thames . Once inside. Met with friendly staff . Restaurant is a nice size and comfortable . Food was amazing and can’t find 1 fault with it . Lovely spices and not too oiley . Left with a full belly and very happy. Can’t wait to go back. 5 Star 👌🏻

Consistently great food. Have been coming here for twenty years and I’ve never been disappointed once. The food is cooked fresh. And it’s worth it. Whatever your preferred cuisine from Goan to Keralan, it’s an eat till you drop experience. If you’re unsure what to eat, ask the owner, he can suggest dishes you probably haven’t even thought of.

Sadly our visit tonight was awful, we had planned an 18th birthday which let’s just say didn’t go to plan. Food was bland and poor and the service was awful. We waited over 2 hours for food considering there was only one other group. I’ve been her for so many events so this was so unexpected! It even left the birthday boy in tears as everyone was so hungry and food just didn’t tast right. Mango lassi was so so sour it had to be remade. Kebab for one family was so soggy. Grill platter food was so bland, kebabs were missing, chops undercooked, meat things couldn’t even be cutlet along chewed. Tandoori had no flavour and was soggy. We were then told that obviously it was us as the other table enjoyed their food. We were not able to cancel the upcoming grills as they were ready only to wait another 35 minutes for nothing. Very disappointed!

Very friendly staff and super service. Food was enjoyed by all. Very impressed with the staff who were warm and welcoming and on hand to serve. Would certainly visit again.

Stumbled across this place on Google last night and decided to give it a go. Service was so warm, friendly and relaxed. The food was gorgeous and had some dishes on the menu I have never seen before. The Naan bread was the BEST one...

Visited Ananda restaurant it was a lovely place near the Thames. The service provided to us was terrific with all the staff very kind and welcoming. The food was very tasty with an excellent menu to choose from, overall atmosphere and experience was brilliant

I’ve been coming for last couple of years and visited first time since COVID restrictions. It is as excellent as ever before with delicious new menu. I enjoyed the lamb biryani and let them know I love corriander. it came full of it :D

Quality foods and excellent customer services. Tried chi bhuna, Lamb Bhuna, King prawn Bhuna with Fall and Cauliflower bhaji. No issues to complain about. Nan bread was outstanding.

Great Fish dishes at my favourite Indian restaurant in Isle of Dogs. Try the King Prawn Puri for starters. Coconut Chilli Crab is to die for. Great views of The River Thames. Nice surroundings, lovely ambience created with background Indian Music and quality service from the front of house team.I am already booking for the next 2-3 weekends ahead.

The restaurant has undergone a management change and is now Ananda by Thames with many of the sane staff but a different chef. The food was always good but it has improved significantly. Great service, great food and parking which is limited in that area....

My go to Indian restaurant on the Isle of Dogs, great traditional food with not too many additives and colours that can be off-putting. The kitchen curry is always a hit. Staff are very helpful and they remember your name, mind you I have been eating here on and off for about 15 years! Special thanks to Forid who always gets my takeaways delivered bang on time for the kids getting home from Scouts!

After recently moving to the area we came here on the first night I got keys to my flat and have been back multiple times since with friends and family. The food and service are always great. I liked getting the combination dish because I can never decide on just 1 curry to have!

This restaurant has had its day, since change of ownership the service is disgraceful.

The restaurant is located by the River Thames and not on the main road, so away from all the noise and traffic. The interior decor looks simple and modern. Food was very nice with good portions. Service was ok. Atmosphere was nice and quiet. Would recommend.

Apart from a fantastic location this restaurant has nothing to offer. Brilliant Thames views, and if it could offer good food; would always keep it busy; anyways.

Amigable, con un buen servicio e incluso tiene su propio aparcamiento, que siempre es una ventaja para un comensal de Londres.

We visited this restaurant around 9.00pm on a recommendation otherwise it's see not one of those places you could possibly even stumble across. It's tucked away off a residential street comprising of houses and tower blocks so unless you know the area or know someone who's been there, you'll never see it..

He estado aquí con mi pareja de Bangladesh, así en este confío en su gusto y opciones mucho. Incluso me dejaron decidir qué pedir para mí, ya que, bien, en estos casos lo sabe mejor. Y yo nunca he sido decepcionado! El servicio es muy atento y agradable y realmente cuidar. El interior es lujoso - qué mientras que si vas a los aseos te das cuenta que fuimos para decoraciones barato, sin embargo he encontrado todo muy limpio.

Ni la comida ni el servicio ni el ambiente valen la pena. El lugar parece que está en la nada. Afirma que por el Támesis, pero en realidad las vistas y la ubicación son muy pobres. El servicio no es bueno y la comida tampoco sabe bien.

En primer lugar excelente posición justo en el Támesis, el restaurante está decorado con buen gusto y el personal es muy amable y eficiente. La comida siempre está recién hecha, sé que te estás diciendo "así debería ser", pero si eres honesto contigo mismo, rara vez lo es. Una gran cantidad de curry coloca los platos son par cocinados. Pero no el memsaheb. El pollo tikka literalmente se derrite en la boca, los sabores son delicados y no excesivos. Ten en cuenta que el curry caliente está CALIENTE. Reserve para estar seguro ya que pueden estar ocupados. ¡Disfrutar!

Quite frankly, this is the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant ever. I think the staff and management are getting upset with the decline of this restaurant. Have recently become rude and customer service dropped to the worst standards, Me and my pregnant wife were shouted at after waiting 1.5 hours for our food. I used to love this restaurant, but will unfortunately tick it off my list. The management called me and continue shouting and shortly afterwards I received 4 prank phone calls, out of the blue. Shocking service which can only be described as abuse.

I love this place, it is one of my favourites for a Indian meal. I chose to have my currys in medium spice. We had the king prawn butterfly, prawn puri, dhaal and mixed biryani which we both enjoyed. There is free parking outside the restaurant.

Pedí una para llevar desde aquí después de comer solo y al darse cuenta de que era mucho más barato que cualquiera de esas opciones. La comida llegó más rápido de lo esperado y todo estaba delicioso y absolutamente enormes porciones de nuestro pollo y gambas birianis tanto vino con curry vegetariano cartones de independiente, al principio pensamos que habíamos puesto en orden accidentalmente de alguien! Ambos lados también eran agradables (pan naan gran experiencia tan diferente de persona de arriba. . . Había tanta comida que tenía suficiente para el almuerzo del día siguiente, curry vegetariano dos birianis, naan, y patatas para todos poppadum £11 cada uno = INCREÍBLE!

It's hard to describe how terrible this place is and how bad the service is. The waiters were brisk and aloof. We were rushed to finish eating despite ordering food costing over a hundred quid. The starters were average at best and the mains were bland and very disappointing. By far the worst tasting Indian food I've ever eaten. Avoid this place and go down the road as there's plenty of other good Indian restaurants.

It was so sweet. Seriously. The most horrible Indian food ever. There is no need to modify the food so much for the locals that its not edible anymore.

This is the best place to have a curry in London, I cannot understand some of the negative comments. We have used this place for six years since moving to Canary Wharf and have always found the staff courteous and helpful . Mr Jawa was very welcoming and we had some quite wonderful fish curry on Friday. I can particular recommend the vegetarian options. It was also an illustration of how popular it was that for the three hours we were there the restaurant was 90% full . Many were locals who regular eat there .

I dont normally write reviews but on this occasion i had to as i am very angry. Visited this place after 2 years as it used to be very good for food and service. I used to know the manager Mr Wahid who used to look after us very well well but not on this visit. The chefs have changed cooking up microwaved curries tasteless and inedible. The waiters are just grumpy, sad, rude and have attitude problems and looks like they dont want to be there. One waiter in particular was even saying extremly rude words about other customers but did'nt realise we had a bengali speaking friend with us. On a serious note to whoever owns this place now its time to CLOSE because your restaurant is a disaster. To curry lovers lots of lovely restaurants in this area so dont use memsaheb on the thames.

Was in London for work and knew I needed to try curry. Yelp gave this place great reviews so we headed over. Had the owner choose dinner for us. Has great vegetarian sides - potatoes and a spicy pea dish. Great naan & papadum. We shared chicken tikka, a beef entry and a shrimp curry. Great service in a waterside neighborhood.

The food described is nothing like what you see on their website. The staff are unfriendly, unprofessional and rude. Slow service. Poor customer service. The only good thing is that there is parking and some nice views of the river and O2 arena.

I had selected this restaurant because the prices looked more reasonable for thuis part of the London. I had ordered a 'Lamb Varwal' as starter and a half Tandoori Chicken and a Lamb Biryani (came with a 'veg cury'). Now the starter had five tiny pieces of lamb and wasn't very good. The Tandoori chicken had very little flavour but at least was edible and well cooked.The 'Lamb Biryani' was anything but a Biryani. It was close to inedible and had absolutely no flavour at all and even the rice was of poor quality. It seemed that it was just regular grain rice and not Basmati cooked in turmeric and tomato paste. Had no fried onions as should be in 'Biryani' or any other spices.And the side dish called 'veg curry' was outright inedible. It had a few slices of onions and peppers swimming in a brown fluid.This was by far the worst 'Curry' house I've ever been to.

Things really are improving here !! Had a meal the other night and everything was really tasty They are in the process of doing it up !! It is starting to look quite classy !! I must admit that the standards had dropped but now it has improved greatly . We had a lovely night with our friends we were really happy with our meal and also with the service .

The menu and food quality was about the same level as could be found in any other UK town (excepting the East and West Midlands). The décor was uninspiring and, whilst nice, the river view didn't really raise standards.

Had feelings of foreboding before we arrived in Amsterdam Road to meet friends at this restaurant. The Isle of Dogs is a lost opportunity to build something with style. Mem Saheb gives off a very negative vibe too. Waiter tried to be assertive, failed miserably so slipped into effortless obsequity. Papadums great, Cobra beer great then downhill to tasteless somosas, overcooked prawns in a mild & thick tomato sauce that was the staple of all the dishes served! Not cheap either. All in all very disappointing, but hey! at least we got to experience the biblical disaster without actually going to the trouble of dying.

Disappointed by this Indian restaurant because : service too long (we've waited 1h before to be served) and the meat was overcooked ! However, this restaurant is well located and the dining room is modern !

I visited this place with my wife. The place was less crowded and had no issue getting a table.My wife is a vegan so we ordered masala paneer, aloo tikki for starters. Both were average.I had Prawns served on a Puri. It was better than the vegan starters.Few naan s, coco gobi and dahi brinjal for the mains. Coco gobi was different and the tasted nice. Dahi brinjal was without the dahi but some variation and we were informed quite late about its unavailability.Had glenlivet and a lemonade along with them. Costed around 50 bucks.

Quite literally the worse service I have ever experienced - easily the most abnoxious place i, or any of the people with me, have ever tried (!) to eat in. We were more than eager to eat here, but after the unfriendly welcome and then the Cobra beer that were UNDRINKABLE as they tasted so off, we had to leave. We would have been happy with an apology and replacement drinks but instead all we got was argument from the very grumpy waiter, he is so rude telling us how wrong we were. Unfortunately my girlfriend insisted on paying for the mostly undrunk beers - we were more than justified to just leave. It leaves me wondering how bad the food is. I went on Saturday night last night for a meal I ordered lamb chop. I was disappointed when they said they didnt have it. I was very angry that on Saturday night they don't provide lamb chop in the restaurant Memsaheb . I then ordered tandoori kajana while eating my tandoori chicken I felt sick because I could see blood inside the tandoori chicken. Service was awful waiters looks aggressive and and moody. I would not recommend to anyone

I phoned on Monday lunch time for a engagement party booking. Spoke to a waiter called chowdhary he wasn't very clear and was very rude and couldn't speak English properly. I asked for their manager he responsed that he is the manger i was very shocked that he can't even speak proper english and very rude on explanation enquires, how can he run the business in this manner I would not recommend this resturant to anyone. I have previously visited but will not come again.

This is the second time at the restaurant and I must say the food is delicious!. The first time I went was on NYE, the staff were extremely busy (as you'd expect one of the busiet nights of the year) but still gave us attention when needed. They were friendly and professional. My husband and I then went for a romantic stroll near the riverside so overall a lovely night. The lamb biryani and king prawn rice is so tasty and the korma is rich and creamy. It's decently priced considering it's based near the riverside/Docklands area other restaurants in the Docklands area are fairly similar in price. Nevertheless I will definitely will order that biryani and King prawns again!

where do i start? I have been going to this restaurant with my family for many many years. Over the last year or so we have found that the service and food quality have deteriorated quite badly. the staff are rude and arrogant and the food has so dropped to a whole new low in quality. We decided to gov then one more go a few weeks ago just before christmas. The food quality had improved and the waiter as if we would be booking our usual table for new years eve, as we had done this for the pst 15 years or so we went ahead. We arrived at the restaurant on new years eve and were asked to wait. People walked in behind me and were seated and still we waited. They eventually acknowledge that we were waiting to be seated and tried to seat us all on a table for 4 under a speaker. We were a group of 5 adults so this was never going to work. questioned there logic and I was told quite rudely that we had book late so what could we expect. i beg to differ on this point as a table book for new year at the end of October is not late. The table was changed but service did not. it took the staff over an hour to take our order and just as long for drinks. The starters arrived and was very small but tasted fine. Then the main course arrived. Just as small ( my side dish had 1 floret of broccoli in a bowl) I had ordered butter chicken along with my son . I have never seen anything like it in my life. I had a bowl of 4 pieces of chicken in a white sauce. The sauce tasted like sugar and coconut in milk. I asks for it to be changed. The waiter said that there was nothing wrong with it and this was how it was cooked at home. I advised that I had had home cooked butter chicken cooked by a bengali family and it was nothing like that. He said he would get chef to cook it some more! about 5 minute late a chicken korma came out and not a butter chicken. My son was put off by the food that he chose not to eat at all (but they still charged us for it) they even charged us for breads which were included in the set menu we paid £40 a head for. In a nut shell i wouldn't bother waisting my money here. A real shame as the previous, staff chef management were wonderful and made you feel welcome and valued.

We visited the restaurant for the first time after finding online and booking (although only 15 minutes before attending) although there was plenty of tables available.The food was very nice and waiters were friendly. However at the end when asking if we could use a tastecard was advised only if booked 24 hours in advance, even though this was not stated anywhere in the details., a point which the staff were rude in pointing out.When the bill was received there was a 12.5% service charge added automatically and when questioned was told that it is mentioned in the menu, albeit in very small letters at the very end of the menu. This was definitely not worth 12.5% on top of already inflated prices. This would normally only be added in a restaurant when there was a group of 8 or more. It was also the only Indian restaurant where we have dined that did not proved hot towels after the meal. As mentioned the food was excellent, however the poor service would mean that we will not be returning or recommend that anyone else visit.

We have used this restaurant for years now , they have recently been taken over and yes at one time it seemed to go down the pan a bit , but things are now improving . They have been trying new dishes and listening to their regulars as to what needs to improve . We have certainly seen an improvement , and continue to have a great time when we go there

2 of us went here for dinner. We started with pickles and poppadoms. We then followed with Aloo Tikki and Sheek Kebab to start. For mains we chose Chicken Rogon and Garlic Chilli Chicken, bindi bhaji, coconut rice and nan bread. The food was very tasty and the waiters were friendly and efficient.With a good bottle of wine and sparkling water the bill for two came to. £63.

The food was ok. Good size portions . they have a new beer called Mongoose tastes ok. The staff are very good not in your face every 2 minutes.

Been here many times and one thing I would say the food used to be fantastic, but not now even the popadoms were awful, portion sizes terrible 4 tiny peices of chicken in warm curry sauce. Even the wine tasted sour. Waiter could not get the drinks order right bringing the wrong drinks to the table. Won't be back instead will be dining at Bengal Quay Indian restaurant, people tell me its very nice also good reviews.

We have been visiting Mem Saheb for possibly the last eight years - however have noticed a recent downward trend. Each time we have hoped that it was a one-off.When the food is good - the Mem Saheb is one of the better Indian Restaurants / Takeaways in the area. However we have noticed that depending upon the day of the week, there is a large variation in flavour, spiciness and general quality.The customer service is equally deteriorating but unfortunately this is now a consistent downward trend. With recent examples include, whilst waiting for take away one evening, sitting at the bar, I was asked to sit by the children (30+ years my junior), so another customer could sit at the bar - was he some celebrity? Was my customer not sufficient? Another time, was told that they could not deliver as they were too busy - but when I arrived at the restaurant, there were a total of 9 diners and 3 visible members of staff.Generally speaking the Mem Saheb has gone from a restaurant that we would actively recommend to now being one that we would not be surprised to see on the next Gordon Ramsay Kitchen NightmaresSo unfortunately they have now lost our custom after so many years and we are looking for somewhere better.So in summary - would I recommend it? Not really, it might be good but equally likely you could be disappointed.

A small converted river side pub with a large car park, a little hard to find on a dark night but well worth the search, King fish Curry was very pleasant surprise and the standard Indian dishes of Madras, Tikka and Masala were all excellent.The staff are very pleasant and all seem to be family members of the owner.The kitchen curry may a bit fierce for some but its very tasty indeed, all in all a thoroughly joyous experience.

One of the best currys I've had. Light, well spiced sauces. Good breads to accompany. Cobra on tap. Service was a bit slow but well worth the wait

used to be really good but there has been change and the good waiters are gone replaced by rude, aggressive, ignorant waitress and waiters. The food is not like it used to be and hot beverages and desserts are just as bad. Don't waste your money and ruin your evening there are much better restaurants nearby.

My 2 friends and I met up for a meal and some drinks and i have to say that I found the portions were on the small side and the lamb in the dhansak was horrible, fatty and of poor quality. We did find that the service was good but I would be hard pushed to visit here again.

We have often dined here but on the last two occasions that we have been their they have overcharged us on our bill. The first time was nearly £6.00 but I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and that this was a oversight by them. Today we have dined there again and I thought I would make a point of checking the bill that comes to you in a written form. On attempting to check the bill they immediately take it away from you and you then have to request a copy of bill but by time you have received this bill you have paid already on your credit card. The only opportunity you have to check your copy the bill is when you have left the restaurant. On this occasion I was charged £8.93 service charge that I have never seen before, this is normally at the discretion of the customer and also there was a overcharge of another £3.00. I hope the restaurant actually read these reviews so they have the opportunity to explain themselves. I accept one mistake but not twice within five days.
