Melia's Place in Tonbridge and Malling

Came here for brunch and was really impressed with the decor and general feel of the place. Service was great, good cappuccinos and very tasty eggs on toast. I thought it was reasonably priced and I will definitely come back again.

Really really bad, but nothing else apart from Indian in the village , so I think the owner is convinced it’s good!!!Only choice was pizza or pasta. Everything is frozen. The pasta is heavy and gloopy the pizza is bad as sloppy and frozen . Why have a restaurant if you don’t have a passion?It is a money spinner and that’s all, nowhere else to goI really really wanted this to be at least ok. It wasn’t . It was full ( I think everyone is bored with Indian obviously!) But the food was really bad. Maybe I have been spoilt , but I can eat better at home or EVEN fish and chips take away!My husband said it was an insult to the Italian cuisine !

Waited for ages - 20 mins +to even have my order taken. Many tables who came in after me were served before.When I did order, they were disappointed that I was only ordering coffee and not food.A couple of the waiters/waitresses weren’t wearing their visors down. The COVID-19 rule following was diabolical.There is no attempt to distance the tables from each other at all. Whilst I appreciate that they are trying to maximise business, many other places are adhering to this rule.When the coffee did arrive, the blend was awful. Very weak.I won’t be back again.

It is with sadness that we are posting this review as we have always loved Melia’s Place but the seriousness of our concerns are such that we feel a duty to report. Rest assured that the essence of this was reported verbally to a senior member of staff who apologised but on the basis of being very busy. The first things we noted on entry were that the table spacing remains unaltered and closer than one metre in areas, a sign by the entrance had 2 metres crossed out and altered to 1 metre and there was no QR code displayed only a manual register being maintained using a shared pen. There was no wearing of guest masks as far as being seated and masks were being removed at the counter. At first we noticed that the counter waitress was wearing a visor. However whilst eating we noticed one waitress clearing tables with mask hinged up and one customer being served by a waitress not wearing a mask at all. As tables were being cleared there was no table sanitisation taking place. Three tables in front of us were cleared and by the time we left two of those tables had been seated at. There is no escorting of customers to sanitised tables. No signage to say that a table is cleared but awaiting sanitisation. Sorry to say that this is the least Covid compliant restaurant that we have visited. Having just returned from Athens the differences in approach were stark. A good start would be to take tables out of action so that business is reduced and compliance becomes possible.

Food and drinks ok Tables NOT CLEANED After Customers Use Which is NOT GOOD ENOUGH in These uncertain times. I surgest you go to somewhere more hygienic.

Lovely recently extended restaurant. We were here for a Saturday night with friends - most of the week it's only open during the day, but they also open on Friday & Saturday evenings. The food was excellent, but the service / staff communication could do with a little improvement - people who came in after us received their menus before us, one of the wine's that we ordered was not available, but we weren't told until after we'd ordered it & the dishes that we'd ordered more than one of - only one of each turned up & the duplicates obviously had to then be prepared, so two of us were without our food for a while. That said, we did have a very enjoyable evening & we would eat there again.

We come here as a family pretty much every Saturday morning for brunch. The menu is small but all the food is great. The coffee is fantastic. It is a family business and all the staff are so lovely. They also do evenings on Fridays and Saturdays with drinks and some amazing cheese and charcuterie boards. Amazing spot!

Found ourselves there for lunch and really enjoyed it. Food was tasty and prices were normal for the area and quality of food. The interior was lovely, just such a nice calm place to be for lunch

I have noticed a few times a Tesco van delivering the food close to here but didn’t think this is where they would order their produce from and as I ordered my coffee I saw Tesco milk - which is fine but as for the food if you are charging £6 for a sandwich then you would assume quality products ? I asked the member of staff at the till is that where you get your food from / she looked confused and went red so I assumed this was true. It’s a lovely shop I just think if you are charging what you do use local or better quality as Tesco really is nothing special or different to what you have at home. Worth a visit but over priced and seem to always have the same limited menu. I’m not convinced sorry !

We recently had our work night drinks in here and it was a very nice atmosphere. They seemed a little short staff due to the amount of people and at one point we was told we would have to order our drinks at the bar rather than with the waitress (not an issue but maybe they wasn’t prepared for the Christmas rush)

Melias does the best bacon sandwich. Thick fresh doorstop bread and thick bacon. Always great food with lovely friendly service. Great place to chill out and meet friends.

Been to Melia’s several times in the past but was disappointed this time as the lunchtime menus was limited to soup, a salad (cold) and a variety of sandwiches and rolls. On previous visits there has always been a choice of a couple of more main dishes such as a pasta dish, quiche etc. When I enquired I was told that they only had such dishes on Saturday if they had them left over from a Friday. Clearly I was lucky on all my previous visits but not so this time. I won’t be taking the chance again for lunch. Still very nice for coffee and cake though.

A perfect place to either have a quick cup of tea / coffee in a pleasant environment or if you want a decent freshly cooked breakfast or sandwich for lunch Melia's is a great place !I hear that wine and gin cocktails are available at the weekends now also :-) ... must try this .

We wanted somewhere for breakfast and identified this as an ideal location. We did have a bit of trouble finding it as the name is almost obscured by overgrowing vegetation (note to owners, I suggest you get this cut back so people can see the name). But, once you're in its really good, although we didn't have any of the muffins are enormous. But we did enjoy a lovely breakfast fare, there are various options available. We had omelette plus sausage, egg, avocado and buttered rustic bread toast. Very good. Its décor is great with a relaxed but vibrant atmosphere. We were visitors but I bet the locals love it.

Would definitely recommend. Staff provide tasty food and the best milkshakes. Good value for money. Far better than the average coffee bar. Very welcoming.

Met my friend here for some cake and a cuppa, we ended up having lunch too. Very reasonably priced and good quality. The cakes are delicious and you get a decent chunk too :) will definitely be returning.

W miejscowości Borough Green, w której mieszkaliśmy podczas urlopu w Wielkiej Brytanii znajduje się kawiarnia Melias Place, która jest warta odwiedzenia. Wybraliśmy się tam pewnego dnia na śniadanie i bardzo polubiliśmy to miejsce. Drewniane stoły i krzesła, dwa wielkie okna, które rozświetlają całe pomieszczenie tworzą niepowtarzalny klimat kawiarni. Zdecydowaliśmy się zamówić dwa rodzaje tostów, z serem i pomidorami (3,50£) oraz z kurczakiem i majonezem (4,00£). Do picia wybrałam herbatę Super Fruit (2,00£) a Bartek wybrał herbatę Lemon & Ginger (2,00£). Fajnym dodatkiem do tostów jest sałatka, która jest wliczona w zamówienie. Nie jest to sałatka oszałamiającej wielkości, aczkolwiek fajnie, że podają warzywka do tostów, przez co posiłek jest bogatszy w składniki. Wszystko było smaczne i dobre jakościowo. W kawiarni bardzo przyjemnie spędza się czas ze znajomymi, ale i nie tylko, bo znajdują się tam, także stoliki do pracy gdzie można podłączyć laptopa lub podładować telefon.

I quite often stop here for an iced coffee, it is so much tastier than the rubbish they serve at Costa and much cheaper. The cakes are pretty tasty too!

I enjoyed a really lovely coffee here. Much nicer than the coffee chain option down the road. I would definitely come again but would love to see more vegan options.

I love going to Melia's for relaxed coffee mornings and catch ups - the coffee is always great and the pastry selection is delicious! I've not actually had proper food here but it always looks great! Lots of avocado and eggs!

From the outside, you might think twice - but don't; it's amazing. Very trendy, comfortable, family friendly, pop in for cake or a nice lunch, there's loads of space.

They never have too many options on the menu but they change frequently and everything we have eaten has always been delicious with generous portions of whatever the main part of the dish is. Drinks are always good too and the decor very pleasant as are the staff. One of our favourite places to eat lunch in the area. Ratings for service, food and value didn’t work when I entered this review ( where do you relate Tripadvisor?) but would have all been 5.

Really lovely local cafe with very pretty decor and a nice place to relax with a drink and piece of cake. Everything is very fresh - the bread used for the sandwiches is fantastic. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff - would definitely recommend. Would be lovely if they started doing jacket potatoes too in future

I love this place, it’s relaxed has beautiful simple food and is brilliant for working on your lap-top or having a business lunch.

We went to Borough Green, on a rainy afternoon for a cuppa and a piece of cake!

What a lovely classy place Melia's is ! Who'd have thought that Borough Green would have such a great place to sit & enjoy a coffee with some great food. The décor is just right which adds to the informal atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Waited 15 mins for a pot of tea. Staff hadn’t a clue what they were doing. No ginger and lemon tea as they had run out. Want to support my local independent coffee shop but sorry to say will not be returning

We use Melia's for all sorts of things. I've had breakfast and lunch here as well as afternoon cake. They are all fantastic.

Came here for late morning coffee & cake to celebrate a Birthday. Very relaxed atmosphere & was in time to see, but didn't try, a very appealing looking salad lunch selection. Just wish they had a licence - even if only to offer corkage if you brought your own lunchtime drinks to have with your meal!

Stopped here for lunch with cycling group . Very nice coffee and great cakes ( although expensive - 3.50per slice on average) .lots of outside seating - great for a large cycling group . Staff friendly - served very quickly .

Delicious coffee and a fabulous quiche and salad. My companion also had a lovely slice of carrot cake. Far far superior to any chain coffee shop with stylish surroundings and friendly staff

We have now been a handful of times to Melias, the menu always looks tempting and the food that is served lives up to expectations. The addition of a children’s menu would be great, but the staff were more than accommodating and sliced our cake in half for our little one. Lovely atmosphere and always clean, a must visit independent coffee shop.

I have popped into this coffee shop a couple of times whilst waiting to pick my granddaughter up from her dance class. The staff were welcoming and friendly bringing my coffee and food to my table on each visit. The café is clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. The coffee is good and the food tasty. A great place to loose half an hour.

Lovely scrambled egg, bacon and hot buttered toast - makes your mouth water! Decent value and a nicely presented/ maintained eating place

Great independent coffee shop with parking at the front of the building. Lots of homemade yummy cakes at reasonable prices. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We’ve been here twice and each time it has been a very pleasant experience. The surroundings are very trendy and yet understated. The menu is small and yet very tasty for a light lunch and plenty of cakes for coffee. The coffee , tea and hot chocolate are of good quality. The service is friendly and efficient. Maybe not the cheapest place but one of the nicest.
