Melford Valley Tandoori in Babergh

Wir war eine Gruppe von ungefähr 40 Leute. Wir haben nicht bekommt was uns angeboten wurde. Brot mit oil und butter auch Cesar Salat nicht bekommt. Ein Gast hat Hühnerschnitzel bestellt und eine Winzige stück Fleisch bekommt, nach wir geklagt haben hat sie dan eine anständige schnitzel bekommt. Essen hat geschmeckt aber war sehr wenig pro person.

We had an amazing takeaway this evening. The chicken was so tender on every dish, loved the butter chicken, the sauce was so delicious. The chicken chat was very tasty and loved the bombay aloo. They have redecorated the restaurant and looks beautiful, lovely lighting, beautiful table's and a really warm, cosy feeling. The staff as usual were very polite and welcoming.

Enjoyed the fabulous Sunday buffet with friends and their 10 month old baby. Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Selection of the food on the buffet is outstanding and the food is of good quality. The onion bhajis are particularly good. There is an excellent choice of starters, bread, rice, meat dishes and vegetable dishes - all with different spice levels. Ice cream and fruit for dessert. At £12.95 it is great value. Will definitely go again.

The food might have been tasty but as it was displayed under the Air Conditioning Unit it was cold. On inspection some of the containers had no form of heating beneath them. Not a wonderful afternoon.

Tasty, excellent choice and amazing price! Visited for the Sunday Buffet- so many tasty dishes from amazing Onion Bhajis and samosa to a big selection of curry’s - plenty of vegetarian choices and the chana massala was particularly good! Won’t be our last visit!

The best Sunday buffet I have ever had, I have been several times with my husband and other family members, we have never been disappointed. The food is always hot and and plentiful, the staff always make you feel welcome I highly recommend Melford Valley Tandoori.

Delivery was a little shy of 2 hours, which is very painful ful for a takeaway 2 miles away on a Tuesday. Poppadoms tasted off and no chutneys delivered. My chicken momo was pretty much a nasty chicken paste with greasy chapati. The curries themselves were actually quite tasty but for the price was quite poor. We only tried melford valley as a something different, we will be going back to our old takeaway.

Received a text from them, saying spend £20 and use coupon to get £10 back. Coupon did not work online. Rang them to order instead, go thru order, then told can't use coupon as you have got to spend £30! They did not honour original text.

I have been using this place for home delivery for over 6 years and despite the usual ups and downs, has always been good if not a bit pricey. Tonight however, the home delivery was an hour late, which is unusual for this place but when I unpacked it, all was not well. The Chicken Tikka Naga was so overcooked it was inedible as was the Ckicken Tikka Masala. There were 2 garlic Naans instead of 1 and 3 pots of Mint sauce to go with the Bhajee instead of 1. I would guess that 80% of the £37.20 cost went in the bin. Very disappointed and will go elsewhere for better quality of food.

Went to melford valley on Sunday evening. Large family group of 11 of us celebrating our son off to university. Even though I’d originally only booked for 8, staff were very accommodating & set the 3 extra places straight away. We all ordered from the taster menu We also had a vegetarian & a vegan in our group and there was plenty of different dishes for them both to choose from. The service was quick & friendly & most importantly the food was fantastic! all 11 of us left saying it was the nicest Indian meal we’d all had in a long time. We will definitely be back. We were there for their Sunday lunch for our friends Birthday. It is a busy place and one you would have to book. The food choice was great and the staff were very helpful when asked about how strong the curry or dish was and suggested alternatives if required. Would certainly go back again if in the neighbourhood.

Had a one night stay in Lomg Melford, fancied a curry and thought we’d try this restaurant. Very glad we did. Between the 2 of us we had popadoms with chutneys, plain rice, special rice, chicken tikka masala, chicken naga, Bombay potatoes, onion bhaji, and naan bread, plus 2 wines and 2 beers. Very reasonably priced for amount of food. Food was outstanding, full of flavour, good sized portions and nicely presented. Service was really good, staff were very friendly, we hadn’t booked and they found us a table straight away. Would definitely recommend and will return when we’re next in the area.

Well I always entitle my reviews this way as experiences have elements of all three. In this case not at all as all of our dining experience were superb. The staff were very attentive smily and great service.This restaurant is family run and Robby one of the family was very friendly chatty and a very pleasant welcoming young man. We had the Sunday tasting menu but started with the traditional popperdomes and chutney tray yum yum.Followed by the eat as much as you can tasting menu lots of smaller dishes superb value and cooked to protection. Now I can be a "Victor Meldrew" lol but could 'nt find any fault with any element of our visit. This restaurant is a must visit Indian just read the reviews to confirm our review. Had a lovely meal here while visiting the area. Restaurant was recommended to us and the food was delicious. Spicing was excellent and flavours were fantastic. Delicious well made naan bread and excellent samosas. Portions very generous. I do not understand the negative comments about service. All front of house staff were efficient and friendly. This was our first visit and we would definitely return.

Food was of good quality and we enjoyed the meal. The restaurant has been updated since we went a while ago with the booths which are a great idea. Service however was a bit patchy with some staff more attentive than others and we had to remind a couple of times chasing starter and drinks. But we got there and the food was pretty good and we had a good evening. A suggestion that the restaurant needs to rethink the water display which was above our table. Doesn’t suit the old building and looks a bit out of place but it isn’t great to sit under as the entire meal is eaten under this weird blue light. My wife found it difficult to read the menu and I actually found at the end of the meal my eyes were getting sore - this can be seen in the attached photos. Anyway - food was good and I would go back!

Went there on New Year’s Day for lunch. It wasn’t busy but there were a few in. The buffet was excellent with lots of choice including vegetarian and vegan options. It was very good value, eat as much as you like.

Went to this restaurant on the 13.08.20 We were told that we could have a booking at 20:00 at 20:45 we eventually got our table.Ordered poppadoms and pickles for starters they smelled of old oil so we left them. The waiter could see they were substandard and our distaste. But did nothing or apologise despite us suing they were not nice.Our curries ordered both prawn biryani and jalfrezi came after an hour the prawns were awful and inedible, again we left our food. When our food was cleared again the waiter could see we were not happy, my girlfriend does not like confrontation and asked me to pay and just leave. It was for this reason and that the government paid £20 of this £60 (yes you read right) meal.To me they were just getting as many people in without caring for quality. They certainly knew local people and I’m sure they were served ok. But if your visiting do not bother, try the Hare inn it was stunning and much more reasonable in price.In short it was a waste of time effort and money the cleanliness left a lot to be desired will never return!

We had a delightful take away from here. I recommend the garlic naan bread and and the lamb tikka, you can’t go wrong!

We’ve ordered a few times from this restaurant and they always forget something!! Tonight it was Onion Bahjee. The King Prawn Madras was inedible, The King Prawns was so hard, like bullets. Did complain but apparently I’ve got a credit note. How that works not sure, we’ll wait and see. Do I want to order soon. NO.

This is the third time now that items have been missing off my order! Gave them another chance and wish I hadn't. Will definitely not be using Melford Valley ever again. Last time, there was a rice missing and when called they offered to bring one out. After saying that the rest of the meal will be cold by the time it gets to me, I was told to microwave it. Also portion sizes appear to have gotten smaller.

Very easy to order takeaway on line during the Covid 19 closures. Food delivery on time and exactly the same quantity and quality. Nothing not to like. We are happy customers and can’t wait for opening up time.

My partner and I ordered our first takeaway today since lock down (15.06.20). It was incredibly disappointing. It was tasteless and bland, which we have experienced in the past, but wanted to support their business. . . Not sure we will again.

Due to current circumstances we had a takeaway.My wife had the chicken shaslick which was quite bland and dry. I ordered sauce for it which did not arrive.I had the Melford Valley special Masala which was very average. The sides we had a very disappointing vegetable curry and a Tarka Dahl which was good. The Pilau rice was also good.

The food here is superb, we usually visit but due to Covid 19 we had a takeaway delivered and it didn’t let us down, it was hot and delicious. The staff are always friendly and polite.

We were regulars here when we lived closer. Always good food and service then. With the current coronavirus problem pleased to find that we are still within their delivery area so ordered on line and it worked very well. Delivery of exactly the same food we remembered and on time too. All good. Will be back.

We are regulars to this family run restaurant. We love it, the Sunday Buffet is the best, with so many options. But we'll often go midweek too. They help and cater for my SW needs and intolerances too. Nothing is too much trouble. The food takes a while to come, but as its cooked fresh I don't mind at all, and fill the time with popadoms and wine. Highly recommended by me and my friends, the tandoori sizzlers are fantastic, the chicken momo and king prawn puree are superb. We are local and this is our favourite.

I'll say again that the food at Melford Valley is first class and the service always friendly, but AGAIN we have got a takeaway order home tonight and found that it's wrong.This must be the fourth or fifth time. How hard can it be to check that what you're putting in the bag is what the customer actually asked for? Very frustrating.

I have visited the Melford Valley Tandoori a few times on a Sunday for the buffet which is excellent so we decided to pop in midweek to see if it was as good and we definitely weren’t disappointed. The food is top notch and the service is excellent. We find it difficult to find a good Indian restaurant that keeps the standards high but the Melford Valley keeps on giving. Keep up the good work !

Like so many places I visit, great reviews but often the food doesn`t meet expectations.

The food was nice, service however was really lacking. Asked for water and we were brought jugs with no glasses...I think we asked five times for glasses before they remembered to bring them over.

Ordered a takeaway from here last night which they delivered in about 40 minutes. All I can say is it was absolutely fantastic food, not a bad word can be said about it. Tandoori Lamb chops a must ordered as a starter and got five. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Reviews are a good indicator, but experience counts. All we can say is this restaurant is a must visit if you like ‘British Indian’ food and you are in the beautiful village of Long Melford. These guys do a super Sunday buffet. We’ve been 10 times over the past few years as we life a distance away. Today’s visit was even better, more menu choice and super quality. The hot tandoori chicken wings stood out, they were super!! Good

First time at Melford Tandori and we were very happy with our food. The service was very good and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Plenty of vegetarian choices for us, all lovely and we took our left overs home.

Two of us had an early evening dinner. The food was absolutely superb and prepared exactly as we asked - including carefully following my request for no coriander leaf (hate the stuff) and cutting down the sickly cream you often get on a saag paneer. Good portions, every dish full of flavour. Draught Kingfisher hit the mark thirst-wise. Staff friendly and polite. Bill was £30 a head. What more could a curryholic want?

Visited with friends who had recommended the place. Was not disappointed. Food was delicious and seriously good value. The samosas were some of the best I’ve had. Not one bad dish in the buffet, we got warm plates to serve ourselves (good touch), all the food was piping hot. Service was quick and friendly.

We go to this restaurant regularly and always find the team very friendly and keen to please. Most importantly my family think the foods the best in the area so I took a friend there for dinner. She totally agrees after a wonderful meal, comfortable atmosphere and a night spent feeding our faces on fab food. A star!

Tried out their Tasting menu on Sunday evening. We were told to choose five dishes each for our meal at a cost of £11.95 per head. This was great value and we couldn't finish it all. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!!

Had not been for quite a while , due to work and family commitments so it was nice to find some things dont change, food and service was superb as always and although we only had a take out it made us realise just what we had been missing and we will definitely be back in the restaurant before long.

Lovely tasty food, couldn't fault it. Wide variety and replenished regularly, didnt notice anything running out. Downside for us was being told by staff that it's usually £3 cheaper and there is usually deserts too but they didnt have room as they wanted more tables out. I'm not sure why you would openly admit that you're charging people extra (fathers day) but giving them less. Wasn't overly impressed with drinks prices.. £5 a pint and £2 for a small glass of flat coke seems a little steep. Place could do with a good clean and some staff could take a bit more notice of people/speed up a bit. One chap was very on the ball but everyone else seemed a bit slow. Annoyingly the other people in there kept standing up around their tables which became quite annoying and isn't something you see usually in a restaurant.. most people stay seated when they've finished but others havent, not stand up around the table. It was a bit bizarre. Not the restaurants fault obviously!

I hadn't realised that this restaurant existed and wish I had known about it sooner. Curently if you buy a drink with your Sunday buffet lunch adults are £8.95 or £9.95 without buying a drink. I counted 24 different main dishes including vegetarian - I have to admit I did try a little bit of all of them, along with 3 different types of rice, more than one type of nan and many starters, as well as 3 different desserts. I've never had such good quality Indian food as this ever, we'll definately be back!

A nice comfortable environment with food always of high standard. Don’t expect a fast service, but that’s great if you are spending an evening with family or friends.

Really love Melford Valley. The staff are attentive and the food is delicious. There are a lot of different options to pick from. Especially the special naan which is a must have if you are coming here for the first time. I went there last Sunday for the first time, with friends. Couldn't fault the food or the service. Lots of different starters and curries to choose from. The house wine is very good. All excellent value for money. I'll definitely be going there again.

Placed our order online at 6.40 pm waited until 8.40 pm to telephone restaurant to find out how much longer our order would be and was told any minute it would be with us another 10 minutes passed by this time was 8.50 pm. Over Two hours for a home delivery take away order to be delivered it wasnt a huge order rice, 2 x curry's, naan, onion bhaji & sag poneer. Food was tasty but cold and had to be reheated in the microwave so it was a disappointing dinner really. However if you go into the restaurant it is faultless. Staff are polite and helpful. The food is piping hot and the service is amazing. Just very sad the take away is not as amazing as the restaurant.

My wife and I visited Melford Valley Tandoori while we were staying in Long Melford for a Sunday night.

What a lovely experience. Visited for lunch on Sunday. They have a buffet type affair, many different dishes to choose from and unlimited visits to satisfy the largest of appetites. The food is of excellent quality and replenished on a very regular basis. Alcoholic drinks were not cheap, a bottle of wine available for £5.00 in a supermarket will cost you £15,00 here and a pint of lager £5.00 a go, seems to be a common practise these days. The restaurant was very busy but despite this the staff were attentive and helpful. Will visit again soon, the food is excellent, highly recommended.

First time experience of the Sunday lunch buffet but it will certainly not be my last!! Wow! Great value for money,service excellent as usual,dishes exceptional fresh tasty and plentiful.

6 of us ate here on a Friday night, it was absolutely packed, the food was very good the dishes we chose from the menu had 1 2 or 3 chillies in order of heat, two of the dishes we ate had 1 chilli strength but were hotter than the dishes with 2 chillies but that was ok with us, would definitely recommend

Staying locally we called in on Monday night for dinner. Warm and friendly welcome. Great choice of meals and everyone we ordered delivered on taste and flavour. We were even given a small portion of Goat Curry to try free of charge. Also fantastic. We have eaten many curries, worldwide, and this gem of a place ranks among the very best. If I lived close I would eat there everyweek.

We were celebrating a birthday and couldn't have chosen a better place to dine. The food was absolutely delicious, the lamb dansak was probably the best I've ever tasted and the service was second to none. I can't wait to return!

A large group, including a toddler, visited on a Saturday evening. We were very well catered for including chef preparing something of menu for one of our party. Love this restaurant. Attentive and friendly staff, Varied menu and all food is cooked well and very attractively presented. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. My favourite is still the biryani.
