We ordered our takeaway at about 7.30 for a delivery at 8.15. At 8.35 we rang to check the order to be told it was a few minutes away. At 9.00 another call said the same. At 9.45 we cancelled the order and had beans on toast. 🙈🙈🙈 What a disaster! Thank God we were not ordering for friends as well! I really don't like giving 1* reviews but this one has to go. I really hope that others have a better experience.

What a complete disaster. We had been recommended to this restaurant and booked our dinner on line to ARRIVE at 8.15. We called at 8.35 to enquire where it was - to be told it would be with us in a few minutes. We called again at 9.00 with the same excuse. At 9.50 we cancelled the delivery and ended up with beans on toast. Thank God we weren't ordering the meal with friends. I hate giving 1* reviews but cannot avoid this one.

Had 2 takeaways now with the new owner and it's good quality. Had a driver deliver my 2nd takeaway 5 miles away and service was very prompt and the driver used was excellent 👍

I have been comming here for over 23 years, the visit before last was not good, however i decided we all have bad days, we went last night, the young girl behind the bar was amazing, the Manager gave a warm welcolme and that was it? BBargis delivered by the manager where like charcol? no face wipes, portions smaller? no mint with bill? Felt obliged to hurry up, it waS BEFORE 22.00 HRS, I can see why the place was so empty, it used to be buzzing. Sorry it seems this aMAZING PLACE IS GOING DOWN HILL. wOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

After waiting 1 hour for late delivery for 3 meals. A vegetarian meal ordered contained chicken. One meal was merely chicken tikka with a korma sauce and not mango chicken as stated and the third meal was just inedible . None of the accompaniments were authentic. Extremely disappointed. They would benefit from an Indian cookery course or chose a different cuisine.

We go here frequently, great food great service, very polite staff and the best onion bhaji's I have ever had, fancy some now while writing this review.

I ordered a delivery for me and my friends for our games night. The delivery driver Mark was so wonderful and respectful of my home and was also very quick. The food was still hot and was delicious and my very large order was entirely correct. Shah was very polite on the phone too. Absolutely excellent. Would recommend to everyone in Hadleigh.

Every time I order from this place they cancel my order with no reason and I have to wait for my refund, try a different Indian restaurant they’re more reliable and better

Rated this place last year. Food was great then, but I must say... wow, its absolutely amazing. Not sure if they've changed their chef or fine tuned their special, very tasy. Service was exceptional as always. Highly recommend this Indian restaurant. X

I am overwhelmed by the excellent customer service displayed and can not find sufficient words to praise the staff and restaurant enough. I ordered a takeout meal, I thought I had phoned the Woodbridge restaurant however on arrival, discovered I had contacted the Hadleigh restaurant by mistake. When I called the Ipswich number to inform them of my error and offered to pay, they said the fact that I had called was enough and no payment was required. What more can I say. I highly recommend the staff and restaurant 👍

I ordered at 7pm on a Sunday evening, told a 45 minute delivery time (I’m 3 miles down the road, 7 minute drive from the restaurant). It turned up at 8:45pm, no sorry for the delay or delivery cost reimbursed. Food was OK, was in between cold and warm. Not ordering again! 1/10!

We had a takeaway almost three years ago which I reviewed then and said I would not order again. Last night we decided to try again as we understand the place has had a change of management. Sadly the food was again terrible. Not authentic in any way. Every dish seemed to have added sugar, tandoori dishes were painted in red food dye and not cooked in a tandoor as described. Paneer dishes with no paneer in them. Butter chicken with little bits of shredded chicken and again sweet with sugar. Look up recipes for these dishes and none of them are authentic. Sad that when the management changed they didn’t get a new chef who can actually cook with the proper ingredients. We will never purchase again.

We both had such a lovely meal at the Royal Bhengal. I really recommend the chicken Rogan Josh with vegetable rice. We were well looked after by the owner and his staff and considering that everywhere is so expensive since the pandemic, the prices were very reasonable. Thank you for having us will come again! :-)

Piss poor delivery service, food sat at the restaurant from 8pm to be delivered cold at just before 10pm . Chef don’t blame you’re staff you lied and said you only just cooked my food at 9.30pm , it was dry and stone cold

The food was tasty, but cold because it was 2 and a half hours late. We'll probably give the restaurant another chance, but I'll be picking it up myself next time.

Nearly 2 hours late. For the last hour there was no updates from restaurant. I had to call 3 times for updates.

Before I ordered it estimated 30-40 minutes. After I ordered it estimated 1-1hr15. It’s now been 2hrs and still no food. Rang to chase and it’s going to be another 20 minutes at least. Said I didn’t want to pay anymore. No offer of refund or money back, just ‘sorry it’s busy’. Meant kids missed their dinner. Is putting me off order again.

We placed two orders. First one for my son so he could eat early as he was going out. Second order much later but the restaurant put them both together and delivered them nearly two hours after the first order was placed. Came in separate bags and my son’s food was Luke warm. Have asked for a refund of first order.

When I was in my teens, I went to this restaurant a lot, once a week with friends would be fair to say. It would be my go to, but then as the years went on the food went down hill and others in the area were better. Recently, the restaurant changed ownership and rumours were going about saying it was really good again, so after years of avoidance, I decided to go back and try it, and it was fantastic. The dishes were beautifully cooked and tasty, the bahji's were big and round and delicious. The Saag Paneer, definitely the best I've ever had. And the service, I don't know if he is the owner or the manager, but he knows how to host and make you feel welcome. Making sure you have everything you need. For me, it is great that this has returned back to form. I have been several times before writing this review, and I can confirm that it has been consistent with what I have writen.

food was warm but not hot. forgetting items on the order. Tried speaking to them on the phone and it was pointless. Telling me I live too far away and that I'm wrong with the times for delivery. I'll make it convenient for them and not order from there again. I've been a customer for 4 years.

Delivery was 1hr 15min late and when it finally arrived food was cold.

An hour late to what was quoted. Missing chutney and also food was cold. Promised bottle of wine as compensation but wasn’t delivered

Exceptional cuisine, staff, pricing, and decor. Didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return! Portions were perfect, background music lovely and manger Shah so helpful I especially suggest the vegetarian options …very authentic and beautiful.

Ordered a takeaway at 18:05, said it would be delivered at 19:10. It's now 20:15 and no order. I've tried calling the restaurant but there's no answer and no response at all.

The food was cold as it was late and the naan bread was missing. Couldn’t get hold of any one all evening on the phone

The food and service is amazing. There is always a lovely warm welcome from shar when you arrive and makes you feel so welcome and nothing is a problem if you would like a certain dish less spicy. All I can say is please try it for yourselves you will not be disappointed.

The food and service is amazing from here, whether you are eating in or taking away. But the reason I’m leaving this review is today I was dealing with my 2 year old having the worst public meltdown she has ever had waking through Hadleigh high street, I decided to just stop and sit on the pavement to try and calm her down enough to carry in walking. After a few minutes the owner of the restaurant came out (we had stopped opposite on the other side of the road) with 2 lollipops for my daughter which instantly stopped her meltdown like nothing had happened. I just thought it was so nice and thoughtful as he didn’t have to do this (maybe he just wanted the shrieking to stop lol) but it helped me out massively. I don’t know the owners name but whenever we have gone in to eat he has always been very attentive but he really went out if his way to help today when again there was no reason for him to. Would recommend this place to anyone before this but even more so now!

Tonight we visited with our children . We thoroughly recommend this restaurant as the food is lovely, reasonably priced and the staff very accomodating. The man serving was really friendly.

We have heard great things about the Royal Bengal and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We tried some completely new dishes last night off the chefs specials and they were the most fragrant, delicious dishes. The quality of the chicken and prawns were outstanding and all dishes topped with fresh herbs which was a great touch. We couldn’t have been better looked after and our drinks were topped up throughout. We even got to take a curry home to taste recommended by the manager. The menu was also so refreshing, not pages of dishes like a usual Indian, all food beautifully presented on one double sided page. We have found our favourite Indian only 10 mins from us and can’t wait to go back. Thanks, Ollie and Rachel

We have had 2 takeaways now in August (one on impulse as the chip shop was closed). The first was so good that we then shared one a week later with friends. Cooked in oil rather than ghee as a friend can’t eat dairy. Both were excellent. I was surprised to see a negative review from another customer who had a delivery at the weekend. Ours were both mid week and we collected. I do hope this place doesn’t disappoint as at their best they are stunning.

I recently wrote a review when it first got taken over as the food was beautiful. However, we got a £53 delivery last night 13th August 2023 and it was extremely poor. The quantity and quality of the chips were terrible. There wasn't enough chips in 1 bag to even feed 1 person and you couldn't stab a fork in them as they were so over cooked and crunchy. I ordered x2 chicken tikka masalas, there was 4 pieces of chicken in each dish. ( normally I can't eat all the chicken) .My children were sharing a dish so they recieved x2 pieces each. Has the rice got smaller? We ordered 2 lots and it wasn't enough to feed us. All in all with the chips (inedible) chicken and rice we were starving after spending £53. I have messaged on Facebook and waited 24hours for a reply but nothing.

Only given 1 star an it won't let me give a zero star rating. Ordered a takeaway for delivery on Saturday night. Never arrived!!! No reply when I tried to phone them and ask when and if it would be delivered. Why take an order if you can't deliver!!!

Food was ok - albeit cold due to the nearly two hours from order to delivery. Delivery time given was 20:10 and it arrived well past 9pm. No updates - had to call 6 times before anyone answered to be told it was on its way. Very disappointed.

After ordering at 6:15pm they missed food in our order, I rung politely and the restaurant promised to replace it, I was awaiting the replacement for over an hour. Rung the restaurant after 1 hour and 5 minutes, I rung back but found my call was declined several times so has to call on another mobile to be told the driver was then leaving, half hour later I received a call from the driver saying they were now leaving the restaurant. I didn’t actually receive my food until 8:45.

Not been to the Royal Bengal in Hadleigh for sometime but Heard some great reports from friends in Hadleigh saying it was under new management and worth a look. so Tonight as I was in Hadleigh with some mates we went to the Bengal for a meal. All I can say is Wow the food was Amazing service was really good I will definitely be returning in the near future 10/10 👍

The food was very nice and the front of house staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back again to eat in and order more food to takeaway in the future.

It’s been my local for years. Since new owners thought we’d dine in. Wow. Such a rude attitude by main waiter. Clearly he was out of his depths, it was hardly busy and for the 5 mins we sat down, we could clearly see the mayhem. We left after quite frankly being spoken to by this man. Never again. Disgraceful

Had a great meal in The Royal Bengal in Hadleigh Suffolk. The place is clean and light and the food and staff are very good. Highly recommended and please to see they do deliveries to the local area.

My wife and I ate at this very nice restaurant, early last Sunday evening 11th June . It was a very pleasant experience . The host Shah could not have been more hospitable, genial, chatty, kind and willing and able to recommend dishes had we needed guidance. Delicious food in generous portions, with reasonable prices. We would definitely recommend a visit and will do so ourselves again, next time we are in the area . Thku for a very nice evening . Edward C

Truly awful. We collected the order but no discount given. Starters totally cold and wrong mains sent (and one missed out entirely). Replacement mains sent to wrong address and eventually delivered by a neighbour but we had abandoned the meal by then. I cannot remember a worse curry.
