Waited half an hour for a breakfast that was clearly pre-cooked ! Everything was rock hard even the tomato…couldn’t actually cut it with a knife! At nearly £35 for 2 breakfasts and 2 drinks i expected more, shame as its a lovely setting

After visiting this store for many years the decline is catastrophic. The food in the restaurant is poor and that’s being kind! The manager was seen berating staff for customers to hear. Felt sorry for the young girl who had been more than polite! Clearly no managerial skills whatsoever. The staff on the tills in the main store are no better, clearly been there for many years and customers are little more than an inconvenience. Needs a complete overhaul! Shame as used to be a lovely place to visit!

Went into Melbick's restaurant yesterday and requested that a table was cleaned to allow my wife and I to sit down. The waitress cleared two plates and left the cups, glasses and teapot on the table along with food debris. We waited for almost 10 minutes for the young lady to return and finish to no avail. We left without ordering and will not be returning. As regular customers we have seen a steady decline in service, food quality and ridiculous prices for a ell below average meal.

My friend and I visited Origins at Melbicks for afternoon tea to celebrate my friend's birthday. I was feeling a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews. However, we were not disappointed. It was all very well presented and the staff couldn't have been more helpful enquiring often if everything was ok and providing us with an extra pot of tea!

My wife & I visited this restaurant for lunch. My wife had already visited another branch of the chain in a different location on a previous occasion and had set very high expectations. Sadly, on this occasion we both left extremely disappointed. After deciding on what we wanted to eat and drink I went to the counter to place my order. I was told that the food would take anything up to 45 minutes. Having already travelled for approximately an hour to get there plus our expectations were already high we decided to wait. The restaurant wasn’t particularly full neither was it very busy. Our food did eventually arrive at our table exactly after 45 minutes. I had ordered a chicken salad and my wife had ordered a burger, each with chips. My salad was quite unimpressive and dry and my wife’s burger was cold and also dry. The onion rings were cold and oily. We were expecting the quality and standard of the food to be much higher than it was but sadly we both left disappointed. The quality of the food wasn’t any better than a high street cafe. I would say that the best food on the table was the chips and the glass of sparkling water!!! I can only hope that this was a one off, but we will certainly not be visiting again due to the disappointing experience.

Ordered one prawn sandwich on white bloomer and portion of chips plus one tea and one coffee in Gallery restaurant. Refreshments came very quickly but prawns came on brown bread. I asked them to change the bread and a young girl came and argued that I had originally ordered the sandwich on brown, I certainly did not. When the sandwich came it was on the most awful white bread. Hardly any prawns and too much seafood sauce. Not worth the money or my time. In my opinion it is not worth eating here.

We used to love to go here. I'm not sure what has happened. Poor value for money and poor value food. In the last 6 months I had breakfast with a friend and apart from it taking forever it was pretty much cold when it arrived and was a poor show with miserly portions and the one small piece of bacon was not just cold but was overdone and dry. When we complained we were told we we couldn't have a refund (as we had already prepaid when we ordered) so we ate a cake each as compensation which made us feel quite sickly. We decided we wouldn't go there again for our regular catch ups which was a shame as we used to meet there regularly. A few months later my husband and I were buying some pots in the garden centre and my husband wanted lunch so we gave it a try. Big mistake. Chicken was so dry that he couldn't even cut it. My meal was expensive and bland. We might give the coffee shop a try next time but not the main eatery. Staff are very pleasant though.

We were so disappointed with our visit. On arrival we were told we would be waiting for our meal - two light breakfasts and eggs benedict - for 45 minutes, but it took over an hour to get to us and one of the breakfasts was pretty awful when it came. At least two members of staff apologetically told us they were having to operate with a skeleton staff, and this had been the case for some time, so it was not the result of the "Christmas busy period". I think the management of the Parlour are really letting their hard working staff down if they make them work in conditions like that. The whole thing would have been much worse if it were not for the lovely Helen who dealt with our complaint beautifully, so many thanks to her.

So disappointed with Melbick’s now. Used to love their restaurant, the menu USED to be varied and real value for money. E.g. two salads of your choice included in the deli meal chosen. Really nice food, and plenty on your plate. Called in there on Sunday 19/11/23 what a different story. I ordered two quiche, with only ‘one salad’ now, I use the term salad very lightly. It came with a small portion of pasta, on a child’s size plate. When the young lady, who I think may have been a manager, bought it over, I didn’t see any salad. I asked her if it came with salad (for which we had paid £3.25 each). She said “it’s on your plate”. When I moved some pasta to find it, it consisted of a quarter piece of sun dried tomato, half a cherry tomato, and no greenery, nothing. That was it! Disgusting really, as it equates to us paying £11.20 for a small quiche and bit of pasta. Will not be going there again, and we were regulars. Managerial staff appeared very stressed, which is why no complaint.

In the end only got 3 hot drinks as the machine couldn’t cope anymore and neither could the staff . Tea was weak and cold and all this was served with a scowl and lots of muttering under the breath from sullen servers. Tables were left uncleared even though few customers and quite a number of staff.

We arranged an afternoon tea in Kiplings for my mom and aunt, it was all very nice, presented very well and all tasty and fresh. I would have preferred more choice of sandwiches with ham or chicken (only had one of each between two), quite a few different cheese sandwiches, and there was tuna and prawn for the fish choice. The cakes were lovely, quite artisan but the best bit was the scone. Light and fluffy inside and a nice crunch on the outside. Perfect! Service was prompt and friendly, and you can have limitless pots of tea all included in the price. The tea was also nice. Good quality cream and jam, too. I would recommend Kiplings for afternoon tea and we will return.

It seems to take an age to pay, which is particularly poor if you've a bowl of hot soup cooling down for 5 mins. Hygiene and safety wise, I wish the staff would deliver food to the table by tray and not walking about a hectic place with their thumb prints securely on your plate. Fiddly and therefor grubby sugar and vinegar jars and bottles need a rethink regarding hand hygiene, when so many children and vulnerable adults about.

Ample free parking and easy access also made it easy for our guests. The venue itself was the perfect size for our 50 plus guests, the room was great and easy to decorate and the soft play area was a god send for all the children that came. Santa was great he spent a long time with each child at their table & even interactive with the parents which was great to see. He then read a Christmas Eve story even I hadn’t heard & I’m 40!! Then it was time for photos, as many as you like! We didn’t feel rushed at all. This was all topped off by the lovely food, we left with smiles on our faces, full tummies & lovely memories. Wow wow, wow. We have visited many events like this over the years but none of them come close to this . The setting and the food were fantastic but what really made the event magical was Santa and his elves that attended to our every need.Santa must have quickly identified that the audience was made up of many generations and superbly mixed tradition with modern ensuring there was always laughter and smiles on everybody’s faces. He engaged the adults as well as the children alike and spent the whole duration of the breakfast in the room giving each and every child and their families an equal amount of quality time. We personally found him to be very quick witted, charming and genuinely interested in what we had to say. He clearly didn’t have a script and clearly didn’t need one. What was particularly impressive was the way he handled the situation when one of our adults became a little cheeky with him. It was nice to see Santa laughing and trying to compose himself before carrying on with the show, that just made us laugh even more.Reading the review about bad Santa makes me believe that the person who wrote it either wasn’t prepared to engage in the festivities in which case, they shouldn’t have booked. Or they went to a different event. Or they are just a ba humbug and just had to write a bad review for the sake of it. The bit about the elasticated beard is in itself laughable. Were they honestly expecting a foot long perfectly shaped consistent colour “real” beard? If so, I guess they’ll be expecting real reindeer on the roof of their house this Christmas Eve .Not fair given the time and effort that was put in. Shame on you bad reviewer. We will be returning next weekend with friends to visit Santa in the main store in order to experience the Christmas spirt further. I’d recommend that anybody yet to see Santa should go see him in store. It’s free, he’s fantastic. What’s not to like?

Not sure if the review below is accurate but it is totally opposite to what we had this afternoon. Tea was superb and Santa was great to both adults and children alike. The food was out of this world especially the cakes plenty of tea and coffee and the elves attended to every need . If you do one thing this Christmas make tea with Santa at melbicks a must do thing and then a tradition .thanks melbicks see you next Christmas it was definitely a five star event

Enjoyed a family and friends breakfast which was nice enough, tea was like warm but was pleasant..went downhill quickly after ‘Santa’ appeared. Whilst his appearance wasn’t the best (obviously elasticated beard) things were going ok, until ‘Santa’ decided to opt for a comedy roast of one of the adults present. Mocking the persons looks, to making slightly sleazy remarks to the female partner. Santa went on to imply the person had a weight problem. Became a bit embarrassing and awkward in front of children. Put a dampener on the occasion to be honest. I would suggest ‘Santa’ concentrate on amusing the children a little more rather than mock adults present under the misguided belief that he is some sort of comedian.

Visited mid morning . The cooked breakfasts looked great but as I am trying to be good before the festive sprit kicks in I decided to have a tea cake and coffee. Lovely friendly staff who make you feel wanted. Everywhere clean and tidy. Will return.

It started well, really busy, good service at the till, but that's where it ended unfortunately. We had a pumpkin and squash soup with cheese scone, a cheese and tomato chutney focaccia, and my Son had fish and chips.

Took grandchild to play area where no one could be bothered to clean any of the plates, cups etc of the tables. Staff even delivered food to people and still couldn't be bothered to pick any of the dirty plates, cups etc. Won't be going there again, dirty and dangerous for children. I don't know what we are paying for, no supervision by staff

Popped in here to get a plant - the plant and garden goods part is absolutely fine. However we popped into the cafeteria. I fancied one of their sausage rolls, which looked quite nice, however at £6.50 each absolutely no chance, this was for a solitary sausage roll, no chips, salad, potatoes etc. £3.95 for a small piece of quiche. In the end we had scones, which we're rock hard and dry - will stick to the costa there in future.

We quite often visit the garden centre and are always tempted into the restaurant, sometimes for a 'proper meal' but more often than not we succumb to the cakes!

We visited Melbicks restaurant today and we could not believe how much it had changed since our last visit a few years ago. What a difference. Very Friendly staff who were very busy and the food was very tasty. I had belly pork which was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by this as our last visit was very forgettable.

We popped down this morning for breakfast and really wish we had just gone to costa instead. We ordered 2 breakfasts £8.50 each plus £2.20 I think for 2 slices of toast. The worst breakfast Iv ever had nothing had been covered under the hot lamps so it was mostly dry, the sausages have no taste, fried potatoes really not good, beans were dry they resembled the texture of porridge, honestly it was really terrible. If you want a really top quality cooked breakfast you should try Dobbies garden world or Notcutts in Solihull. You will get great food and it costs half the price. We will not be returning to Melbicks restaurant for food again.

A friend and I called in and decided to have a meal. They were closing soon, but cakes and drinks were still available. However, when my friend asked about hot food. The lady said we could order if we were quick. This was a relief, as the Costas cafe is extremely expensive. We decided on jacket potatoes with chilli. We also ordered hot drinks and cake and cheesecake. All the food was very nice and we would return.

We called into Melbick’s after Christmas shopping in Solihull to have lunch and buy a couple of items. We decided to have a hot meal and choose the beef bourguignon with sautéed potatoes. Although we ate this meal as we were hungry and being polite but did regret this later and should have returned the meal to the kitchen and asked for a refund. The sautéed potatoes were well overdone and very crispy and the beef bourguignon was squares of cooked beef mixed into a sauce with hard sliced mushrooms and undercooked onion. The price we paid for this was not good value for money and we were very disappointed with the meal after hours of Christmas shopping.

We visited the cafe when taking our youngster to the adjoining soft play area and ordered coffee's and cakes which turned out being (what we considered) over priced for what was provided. The cafe area itself wasn't very pleasant- being part of, what seemed to be, a massive greenhouse that was cold (in November) without any atmosphere and also noisy.

A well presented restaurant, good facilities but food is very expensive. There are plenty of cakes to choose from. Hot food is available but quality out weighs quantity. There is a soft play area for children within the restaurant which is handy when you want to have piece and quiet for a while.

My mum and I visited for a leisurely Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. We had a light lunch of cauliflower soup with crusty rolls and cheese scones (they were delicious). Still peckish, we decided to go for afternoon tea as we saw a nearby table enjoying theirs and got serious food envy! The afternoon tea was GREAT - 2 scones with clotted cream & Tiptree jam, cucumber & cheese and ham sandwiches and the top plate was strawberries and cream, brownies and macarons. Unlimited refills for hot drinks. The best thing was the fantastic service we received from Isabelle J who looked after us like VIPs! Highly recommended indeed.

APPALLING! Possibly the worst service I have ever received anywhere. Multiple menu items not available, when the restaurant was empty, having booked in advance. Only made aware of this a long time after we had ordered and paid. When we complained we were told 'there had been no inconvenience!'. Each time we complained, another child came to tell us the same, no resolutions offered at any stage, even when we asked! We were told, by the same children, the manager was un-available. (we could see her behind the bar!). so we asked more and were told the same. After realising we were not going to get any food, we asked for a refund. When they processed this - they charged us the full bill again! When we tried again for further refunds, they were unable to process. None of them knew how to work the machine. The manager was still behind the bar, and at no pint came to assist. Several groups waiting to be served, subsequently left without any food or drink! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Cold chips tinned ham horrid egg, my daughter had a burger which tasted like a funfair burger van lump of grease. Needed a fly swat. Not once was we approached to ask was the food ok. We both left our food barely touched. We'd driven 4hrs and had another 3 hours drive so decided to stop off. I don't recommend the food in this establishment 😳

I have just walked in to this fish and chip shop. The girl behind the counter looked at me walking in as she was rubbing and scratching her nose!! Then quickly flicked something off the paper that the food is going to be wrapped up in!!! Was a dry boggie!! Then she proceeded to ask me what I wanted. I asked her to wash her hands!!! She went out the back . The owner said nothing . I asked for my money back and canceled my order. DISGUSTING!
