Mela in Aylesbury Vale

We had a great meal at Mela. Food was flavoursome and staff were so friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend to anyone!

First time using this place .The.food was fabulous and tasty But was told a wait of 1hr and quarter but was eventually delivered after 2 hrs!! Booked into eat at restaurant in a few weeks time so hope service is OK

Went for a meal with my Dad and we had an absolutely superb meal. Service was fantastic too and enhanced by the three gents sat next to use regaling various experiences. Definitely worth a visit.

What a lovely evening ! We opted for the set meal for four to give us variety we would not usually choose , lots of delicious food and the staff were attentive without being pushy ! Showed humour and friendliness and were appreciative of our business! We will definitely be back!

Booked online and arrived early. Good table, the restaurant was already very busy which tells a tale on a Tuesday. Drinks arrived and food ordered. My lamp chops were served from a skillet and were very tasty. Two of us ordered the mega grill and one the king prawn jalfrezi. My mixed grill was amazing, the chicken and lamb were extremely tender and very tasty. Sauces and side salad very good. The Jalfrezi was also very tasty. Highly recommend this venue for service and quality of food. Will be back !!!!

Pathetic service. Beyond appalling food, and prices higher than some of the best Indian restaurants in London. Would not return even if it was the last place in England selling food.

The menu was so large that making a decision was difficult but we all thoroughly enjoyed the plentiful food which was delicious. The waiters were attentive and cheerful and service excellent. Maybe this place is aimed at boomers on final salary pensions. For the rest of us, it’s too expensive. Looks like I’ll be eating at home again.

Wow what can l say but it’s the best Indian restaurant l have been too! The food and staff was amazing I can only say if you haven’t been here you need to try it! We will definitely be going back and very soon because nothing will come close to To this restaurant. Even though we live in stopsley Luton and it’s quite a distance we don’t mind the travel at all. We went the day after Valentine’s Day and l left with a Red rose and a valentines balloon all staff very attentive. The restaurant its self is so lovely and beautifully decorated. Takeaway experience Was looking forward to the takeaway having seen all the positive reviews Wrong order provided which I discovered when I got home, I called the restaurant and was advised I would need to go back to collect the right order which I was assured would be “ freshly cooked “ I returned and spookily the order I made initially and took 3 minutes to prepare was waiting for me after 20 minutes I was given an apology and a very small bottle of cobra for the inconvenience !!!!! I returned home , the food was not hot and needed reheating…. So I am not convinced it was a fresh order Food was ok l, nothing special so I won’t be returning sadly, I will stick to what I know!

We went yesterday, 25th December for a Christmas Dinner and wow, what a wonderful experience. Everything was great and nothing was too much trouble. Christmas was celebrated 🍾 in style. Thank you to Ash and all his staff - you were amazing 👏

Another fantastic meal and service ay our works xmas do! The service and food quality continues to !!!wow!!! us year on year. The service team are outstanding, everything runs with military-like precision, led by Ash (the main man). We will be back for Xmas 2025 & in between with family & friends. Excellent food, and a number of menu choices which are different from the usual range in Indian restaurants, e.g. pheasant. My only small criticism is that the service was a bit over-friendly, e.g. overly chatty. Personally I prefer the service to be prompt (which it absolutely was), efficient (which it also absolutely was) and discreet (i.e. not overly chatty). But anyway it won't stop us going again!

We were a group of 18 ladies and we had a fantastic evening. So well looked after and great food. Couldn’t have been better. Also my husband and love a meal out at Mela. Highly recommend.

We normally go to another curry house in stone however thought we’d try here as slightly closer to home. Me and my husband had a lovely meal & will be making this our local curry house Thank you 😃😃

Went to this restaurant for the first time.the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. They brought us a tray with mints, swetts and toothpicks and also individually packed hot lemon towel to clean our hands. They didn't have any fish curry on the menu but they made it for me upon request. The only recommendation I can suggest is that they should play clasical Indian instrumental music in the background.

My first trip to my new local curry house left me full but disappointed. Although the service was good, if not fast, and the decor and setting were lovely, when I order a curry I want a curry. I ordered onion bhaji and chicken pakora to start. Both were OK. The pakora wasn't battered as they usually would be, was flat and small. The bhajis were event. My mains, biryani and vinadloo. The biryani was ok but lacked seasoning, a little greasy. The vinadloo? May as well have been a korma. Absolutely no spice at all in what was supposed to be the hottest dish on the menu. Then the bill? Hard to read handwritten nonsense. £230 for 4 including wine and beer. Won't be returning.

Wow!.... we had been recommended this restaurant a while back and finally had the chance to go. All the staff were welcoming and our server, Ali, was lovely and clearly knew alot about the geographical area and could.not have been more helpful The meal was fantastic we were all delighted with our meals and the flavours. The meat was cooked to perfection and the Naans were delicious. I thoroughly recommend the Zinga Puri if you like your prawns... the best starter I have ever had! We will be back soon.

Very very impressed!! Visited here for my first time with friends after hearing good things, the whole experience was exceptional! Food was amazing, there were 4 of us, we each had different courses and shared between us, every one of us said each dish was delicious! Not only was the food great, but the service was even better! They had plenty of staff (which isn’t common these days) and every single member had their own quirky personality. They interacted with us and we had a laugh with each of them, it made our dinner even more enjoyable 👌🏼 They were confident recommending dishes, and to top it all off we were offered a free drink at the end of our meal, followed by plenty of mints & chocolates. It was safe to say we all left smiling and very satisfied. This place is a must visit!! Thank you Mela!

Great food and friendly staff, always made to feel welcome although the past few times I've been service has been variable. Also not a great place if you have a food allergy, my coeliac friend was given a samosa and was told it 'would be fine' - then subsequently told that maybe it wouldn't be!

I visit Mela in Ashton Clinton, Aylesbury, every three to four months, and it has to be one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Despite my infrequent visits, the staff always remember me, which makes the experience even more special. The food is consistently amazing. On my last visit, I enjoyed the garlic chilli chicken, which was absolutely beautiful, along with mushroom rice and keema naan. My friend had the chicken tikka, which was equally impressive. The onion bhajis are a must-try, and the saag aloo and Bombay potato were really, really good. If you’re in the area and looking for exceptional Indian cuisine, I highly recommend Mela. The welcoming atmosphere and outstanding food make it a place worth returning to.

Amazing! We live next door and have ordered takeaway many times but yesterday was the first time eating in. We didn’t have a reservation but we were accommodated last minute :) The waiters were very attentive and helped me chose what I was looking for (chicken with salad) - delicious!!! My husband tried something different and loved it. We both had ice cream afterwards. I loved the extra touches with the sweet plate after deserts (mini chocolate, jelly babies and mints etc) - already booked to come back for my husbands birthday next month as such an indulgent date night! So so good. Now we just need to see Elvis :) Thank you to everyone and extra credit to the chefs! ❤️

Highly recommended. Food was superb, fresh, nicely spiced and good choice of traditional and contemporary dishes. Service was excellent, polite, friendly and the right aide of attentive. Nice and busy for a Wednesday which added to the overall good atmosphere. Will return for sure.

Surprisingly Delightful Experience at Mela Restaurant, Aylesbury I wasn’t expecting it to be good - typically posh Indian restaurants cater for the western palate and Pakistanis tend to find the food flavourless! However, I was impressed as soon as we entered. The decor is lovely, and the very polite and friendly staff made us feel welcome immediately. The food was delicious! We ordered mild as my daughter doesn’t like it spicy, and despite that, the flavour, ingredients, and seasoning were spot on. They served popadoms for starters with delicious chutneys and chopped onion - who does that anymore? Just lovely. Wishing the management all the best and prayers for prosperity and success! Sara

Called to book table and guy responded saying”You are in India and this is UK and we have a bank holiday. Get lost”. By far the worst ever experience of customer service in UK.

We booked a table on a Friday for 6pm for 4 adults & 2 Young children. We arrived slightly early with hungry little bellies & they welcomed us straight in & the staff were superb with the kids! We sat in the small conservatory at the back, the kids loved the water feature wall! Kept them occupied while we ordered. Food was outstanding & by far the best Indian around! Kids had a korma & rice & shared it. They brought out a small plate for each of them & it was more than enough. They also loved the poppadoms & mango chutney & mint sauce! Was a big hit :) overall everyone had a great evening & we will be back for sure. It's always a risk taking the children out to a place they haven't been as most staff seem to dislike kids in their restaurants but not here! Thanks to all at the Mela for the 5* service!

My favourite food is curry, and I’ve eaten a few!! This place is absolutely fantastic! The whole experience was second to none. Staff really friendly and welcoming, ambiance in the restaurant great and the food was perfect! There is nothing at all in my opinion they could improve upon. I can’t wait to go back!!

Food, hospitality and ambience were all wonderful. Truly one of the best Indian meals I have ever eaten - beautifully presented and delicious. The management and staff are very warm, helpful and welcome.

Amazing food as always. Each dish is rich and fresh and pair amazingly with each other. The Naan is buttery and the curries are extremely high quality. The service is exceptional , with all the waiters providing excellent service every time and always providing what we ask for efficiently. There is a beautiful atmosphere and the restaurant is nicely lit and well furnished. The desserts are gorgeous and decadent . All round an amazing restaurant that I would recommend to everyone.

After a busy weekend I was really looking forward to my Indian takeaway. But we sadly very disappointed both mine and my partners meal were bland without flavour and very little of the main protein ingredient. For £43 it was a total waste of money

I have been a Mela customer for many years ( both takeaways and eating in).The service is always excellent, the staff have a great attention to detail ( holding the door for you, ensuring you’re comfortable etc). A table for 6 gents on Wed 8th Nov 2023. We have dined at several curry houses within Aylesbury over the last 12 months. Mela is up there with the best. A fantastic service, excellent food, a complimentary drink to finish and all at a reasonable price. Highly recommend and looking to returning very soon.

Delicious meal, such a lovely place to eat amazing food. Thanks Ash and the team. I had lamb pathia which had so much lovely flavour and Ash’s special starter was really special. We are very lucky to have such a brilliant restaurant in our village.

Have used this fabulous restaurant a few times and they never disappoint! The staff are friendly, polite and courteous and nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious and certainly worth the little ride from Aylesbury to Aston Clinton. We actually live in Devon and always find the time to have a lovely meal here. They cater for any taste, whether a mild curry or spicy hot. Fantastic atmosphere and beautifully decorated for Christmas, will always come and eat here. Well done guys you certainly have the perfect business model!

I had not been to Mela before, and what an absolute delight! This is the best Indian restaurant in and around Aylesbury by far! Its tucked away in Aston Clinton but absolutely worth the drive there - there is a good amount of parking, and its free too! The restaurant when inside, is really nicely decorated, with a great water feature on the floor (check it out near reception). they took our coats and put them on a hanger which was nice too! Plus they knew my name and welcomed us all when we arrived which was really nice! The team are really lovely, friendly, and knowledgeable on their dishes. they have a vast menu and lots of it is customisable, which is great. They do mango lassi which is yummy! All of the food is wonderfully presented and not once did my family feel rushed to finish which you can feel in many restaurants nowadays. I took their advice on dishes as I was spoilt for choice! The quality of the food is just wonderful, I love Indian food, and this by far is the best food I have ever had (aside from my own mum and dad's cooking) and I will definitely be back here. I cannot recommend here enough! The food is cooked really nice and has great portions and it is really well presented as well! They also had great service - and did not clear plates before everyone finished (which is a pet hate of my own) so you don't feel rushed. I really, really rate here and recommend everyone should go here. I should have come here a long time ago - I would not have bothered with any others!

Last night was the busiest we have seen the Mela... it's popular, and for good reason! We were looked after with drinks during our wait for the table and the food was certainly worth the wait! In particular, the piping hot freshly made naan breads...

Love Mela, always a great atmosphere, great value and very attentive friendly staff. The food is good too! Been several times most recently on August Bank Holiday Monday 2023 and same excellent friendly service with a smile!

Very classy restaurant, excellent service and lovely food. It was a refuge on a wet and soggy night on a recent business trip. I would highly recommend it. I didn’t get the tandoori lamb chops but the chap on the next table was raving about them.
