Awesome food if you prefer taste over heat. You will find hot dishes here but they are quite obvious on the menu. Most of the lamb dishes can be recommended as their meat is very tender. Take out available but no delivery service which is a shame. Our usuals are: Prawn puree starter. Tikka Makannwala - Sweet tasting curry. Gosht Pata - Amazing lamb dish, got to be a Mehfil Special. Also known as Gusht! King Prawn Dansak - Like a sweet and sour chickpea prawn curry. Sag paneer side and onion bhajis. The staff are all accommodating and will offer to tailor food to your needs - I prefer the Chilli coriander naan without the chilli and this is never a problem.

Fine dining, fine staff, fine atmosphere. First time here yet everything was special, the food, the staff, the atmosphere were fantastic, I will definitely be back.

Nice food and worth a visit. You place your order before you sit at your table. Some staff could do with some basic service training i.e which side to place your food etc but they are pleasant all the same. I would go back again for sure.

Booked a table for 7pm. Arrived 10 mins early but waited 45 minutes for the table. The popadoms were not fresh - a bit chewy but then waited a further 40 minutes for our main courses. Food arrived minus one rice dish and only luke warm ate what was served paid and left. Even the waiter commented that it was “Bloody chaos”.

Interior was okay (although the carpets could do with a good clean) and the menu was typical of what you'd expect in a good Indian restaurant. We had poppadoms and pickles and one portion of Onion Bhaji's, which were good. The Chicken Curries and Saga Paneer we had for our main dish were pretty good as well. I had diet coke to drink and it was flat. I got it changed and it was still flat so just left it. Price was average at £55 for the two of us. Not the best Indian food we've ever had by a long way but it was certainly better than average.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the area. Whether it's eat in or takeaway ya can't go wrong. We frequent the Meyfil on a regular basis. Only one criticism...it needs to be bigger 'cos ya can't always get a table so book if ya don't want to be disappointed.

Iv been going to the Mehfil for over 20 years in all that time iv never had a bad meal I have all my work Christmas parties there have done for years Frank and his team are extremely polite Very hard working people Am so upset for what as happened To this restaurant when it’s nothing To do with the Mehfil It’s good to see The restaurant back open and rightly so For me, it’s the best Indian restaurant in Doncaster by far

Beautiful meal at the Mehfil last night. Deeply upsetting to see how false reporting of the ongoing situation with Ottos next door has affected the Mehfil’s business. Free Press have a lot to answer for, as the situation is completely unrelated to Mehfil and yet their brand is being tarnished. Staff wonderful as ever, please come out and show support for this great local restaurant

Reily liked this indian but closed down for rats 🐀 has reily put me of for good, this is disgusting for a reastuaunt of this qaulity. Its very deciving to look at a reastuaunt on the inside looks pleasent but in the kitchen theres rats with your food. I'm afraid we definitely won't be going here again with the family.

Over 10 years since we visited and decor furniture dated Services not upto scratched Over booked crammed in like sardines chair hitting others when trying to leave table Drinks sent back twice flat no fizz I’m sure they returned the one I sent back Curry bland Waited over 20 mins for bill despite asking the waiter twice I know why we waited 10 years will not be returned disappointed visit

Went here last night for the first time and both our main meals were the blandest curry i've eaten in my life they tasted worse than something out of a jar. We ordered the Chicken nagari and the Chicken Karahi. When they arrived the both looked like a chiceken korma so we both knew at that point this wasn't looking good. The Chicken nagari came with one chilli and it was cooked in chilli powder only, there depth to the curry it just tasted of nothing. The Chicken Karahi looked the same as the nagari but without the chilli, when I tried the curry it had raw onion in it. I tried the curry which was as bland as my partners, a karahi should be cooked with garlic and giner and there was none of this within this awful curry. The chilli coriander nan was the only part of the meal I enjoyed. We've been to many places for a curry but none like this. We won't be going back and I urge others not to waste their money here.

Absolutely horrible people treating their staffs horribly! Avoid unless you want the workers to be treated inhumanly! This place needs to sort their manners out amongst themselves! Very horrible to see and experience

Absolutely poor service. I tipped the waiter, however the management pockets the tips! It’s appalling behaviour! The waiters need to be acknowledged and given their tips- what they are due! The bold man has very bad hygiene. The management needs to sort their behaviour out over tips. Taking the rights away from the waiters

Booked a table for 7pm. When we arrived waiter walked us to the bar and left us standing there for around 5 minutes. Another couple were brought in and stood beside us. Eventually they pointed to a small table and told us to sit there next to this other couple. Never asked if we wanted a drink. The other couple had to shout on waiter to order a drink, they brought them over to them then walked away and never asked if we wanted anything. By the time it got to 7.25pm we walked out. Found it very poor as there were empty tables in the restaurant so no reason for us to sit there for 25 minutes

Second time visiting won’t be going again. popadom and pickle tray are the only thing I can recommend. Onion bhaji’s like something from the supermarket. We had a good variety of mains, very poor in flavour.

The service at this restaurant is absolutely sublime, the attention to detail and the little things really are apparant. How you are seated, your drinks are brought straight over to a seating area, the staff then put drinks on a tray to carry to the table and can't do enough to help. The food is excellent quality. Highly recommended. A great overall experience.

Number 14 Doncaster & surrounding curry house visited tonight. We forgot to book a table but wasn't a problem not many in on Monday after New Year. Warmly welcomed, given menus, sat down & drinks order taken. The draught Cobra smelt a little musty but was OK, amazing how much the prices have increased with this stupid cost of living crisis! (But £5.50 really?). Had usual 4 poppadum's with large portions of lime pickle, onions, mango & raita. However, main course did leave a lot to be desired, chicken madras- 1 piece of red pepper, 5-6 pieces of chicken & loads of watery red sauce- spiced quite a little. Colleague had a special that was supposed to be based n flavoured with citrus- unfortunately not the case. It had loads of tomato & tasted peppery but not much citrus taste. The Naan was plentiful but should be at £3.95 and pilau rice IK. Service and friendliness was very good but the watery sauce and lack of content puts this restaurant down in our extensive list & therefore no repeat visit. Interior was quite nice and established, all tables clean and tidy.

Sorry but my meal was not the best. Pickle tray &starters were very nice. I had a fish dish as very different and I only trust curry houses to make it properly. The fish had a slimy texture around it, I ended up only eating 1 piece and leaving the rest & the sauce just tasted of tomato soup. Disappointed. The staff were lovely & pleasant and this would encourage me to return and try something different.

Had a fish curry on Tues evening spent the night in the bathroom !!!! It is Saturday now and still not fully recovered ... Never again !!!!

The service was very good but sadly the food was average at best. The onion bhajis were dry and the curries quite tasteless. The naan bread was good though. Travelled from the other side of Barnsley to give it a try but won’t be back.

First time eating in this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed, the food was great quality, I had the fish main and you could taste how fresh it was. Really nicely spiced too. Starters and sides were tasty. Didn't have to wait long for food or drink and no ridiculous app to have to order from- bonus! Would highly recommend and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We will be returning!

Second Indian takeaway from here during lockdown one of which was on New year's Eve. The food has always been nice,hot and timely and the staff friendly. Would definitely recommend

The food was lovely as stated by everyone in the party, however my rogan josh was very bland, just a creamy tomato flavour with no spice at all. Everything else we ordered was of high quality standard. Staff were attentive and friendly. Giving three stars as the interior seriously needs a revamp or at least a deep clean. We arrived and found stains on the table cloths and napkins. We then later found what I assume to be splattered food stains all over the walls next to the table which wasn't very pleasant. It doesn't take much to clean the walls but it could really do with a lick of paint.

AVOID! Went last night with my family. Had to wait 25 minutes for our drinks to arrive after we had ordered them. My chicken was pink in the middle, clearly undercooked. This was due to them being understaffed, taking way too many bookings and takeaway orders. People were coming in to collect takeaways and were not wearing masks and not following social distancing rules. Staff were also not enforcing these rules or checking that customers had scanned the QR code. Very poor service from start to finish.

Revisit after many years going to other restaurants. Service terrible, no social distancing, crowded, noisy and hot. Not enough staff, service slow and chaotic.Would query what they're doing with bottles of wine etc because we received a small bottle of wine (1 glass), which after tasting and not happy, was horrified to see a piece of chewing gum in the bottom of bottle???!! No apologies and still gave us full bill which only reduced by £9 after our objections! Very dubious establishment.

Usually a decent meal from here but tonight the takeaway wasn't great. Bhajis were small, flat and crispy - not the fluffy balls like usual. Naan bread was doughy and had literally zero garlic. Dishes were okay but just very bland. Not one bit exciting so think we are done with Mehfil unfortunately.

I have been going to the Mehfil with my family and friends for 20 years now. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly and go out of their way to make your night special. The food is incredible; A wide selection and always prompt service. I have never been disappointed!!

Was quite disappointed overall, the naan breads were burnt on the bottom, the balti didn’t have much flavour at all, the toilets...well not nice at all, the whole place needs doing up, it’s not a big restaurant so surely wouldn’t cost too much, don’t think I will be rushing back I’m afraid

Chicken tikka starter was white, and not fully cooked,I had to ask them to re do it. My friends nan bread was very oily.The draught Diet Coke was weak.I had no apology for the undercooked chicken.Will not be back!!

Visited here as part of the government eat out scheme. What a disappointment, the mixed starters were dry and out of the 4 dishes only one had any real flavour. It was like they hadn't heard of spices, dried or fresh. The fish in the main looked like fish fingers. The service was good but after 30 odd years of eating curry this was probably the most tastless we've ever had.

Not sure how any can score this restaurant much higher? The food was dry, bland and tasteless, where were the spices?? When the most flavoursome dish was a korma you know something is wrong. Maybe it was a one off bad night but tables either side of us both complained. Live and learn

Me and my wife have just had a takeaway meal at mehfil and it was horrible by the time we had got it home it was cold and no flaver at all we was recommended and it was very disappointing rang mehfil and they did seem bothered dont think we will l be using them again and I would not recommend it by any means

Ordered takeaway for me and my partner. We ordered a curry each, rice, chips and a naan bread. When we arrived home to serve the food we realised they had only given us one of the curries we asked for and a vegetable rice (instead of the other curry). We rang the restaurant to explain that they had mixed up one of our items and they said we would have to pay the extra to get the curry we ordered as they hadn’t charged us. We explained that they had missed it out and that the rest of our food would then be cold so we shouldn’t have to pay extra for their mistake and we didn’t even get an apology. They refused to give us the food we ordered without paying extra. We have been customers at Mehfil for a long time as we have always enjoyed the food but due to this customer service we won’t be ordering again.

Nice of us ate here on a Friday night. Enjoyed drinks in the bar area while waiting for people to arrive and then shown to our table and had a selection of starters and mains. Food was delicious, service was excellent and I was very impressed with the whole place. Would go back anytime .

We live in the village and are so lucky to have this restaurant close by. Have eaten here many times and always bring friends. The food is great and the waiters attentive and funny. Takeaway is always good too. Try this place, you won't want to go anywhere else!

I’ve been to the Mehfil a couple of times with my husband and two good friends. Inside is very cosy with a friendly atmosphere the staff make you feel so welcome and relaxed. Indian food is definitely on my favourites list and so is Mehfil. The food is beautiful and I recommend the whole experience.

Not sure what’s going on here but over the last six months or so we have asked for all our mains to be labelled to find out we are all eating the wrong dishes??? Tonight we picked up a takeaway for a Father’s Day tea and half way through the meal once again we discovered that the mains we were eating were not the meals chosen.Complete waste of a £30 takeaway - WILL NOT BE RETURNING - save your money and go elsewhere.

Freshly cooked everything with good service is not to be sniffed at. From the popadoms to the main, everything was fresh, succulent and tasty. The chicken was especially juicy.

After being a great fan of Mehfils for many years, the food last night was very disappointing. We started with the usual poppadoms, and starter, but then we had a 45 minute delay in the arrival of our main course, which after asking for it twice it arrived luke warm and very low quality. The King Prawn Sag I ordered didn't have 1 whole king prawn in it. The prawns had been minced, which makes me think they didn't have any king prawns so "made do", but still charged the same price. The Chicken Tikka Dopiaza ordered, was cold and was like raw onion and pre-cooked chicken in a tomatoe sauce. This was returned and asked to be re-cooked, which they did. It arrived piping hot in 1 minute flat! Wow! The Chicken Sag ordered was luke warm but we didn't complain about this dish, and the Chicken Biriyani order was very average. Maybe the chef was having an off day! The room was very overcrowded and noisy, making the dining experience very difficult. It seemed to be pack the punters in along with dealing with takeaways. Sorry Mehfil, but for the £97.00 the quality of the food was very poor and we will not be returning. You need to stay focussed and up your game back to where it once was.

Visited the Mehfil last night, my local Indian restaurant to catch up with friends. I must say the food was superb, as was the service. A special mention must go to Saakib, who was looking after our table. He was so polite and obliging and nothing was to much trouble.......you need to keep hold of him Frank !!

After years of being a fan, tried here after a 3 year hiatus.... What a disappointment..... Same menu... Same decor..... And distinct lack of customer care...... So sad to see my favourite Indian stuck in a. Time warp
