We called in today for Sunday Lunch,It was lovely lots of veg which I like,We enjoyed it & will call again.The 2 waitresses were friendly & nice atmosphere

I've given this pub a positive review in the recent past but Mother's Day was a bit of a letdown. From order to food on the table was a fifty minute wait which for simple pub grub is far too long. It wasn't as if they were busy and when one of our party joined us just as we were starting to eat her meal took a similar time to arrive. Turning to the food, this was at best just okay and not the value for money I've come to expect from the Mason's in the past. The vegan meals looked a bit thin on the plate to me. All round, just not up to their usual standard.

We came for a Mother’s Day meal today free visiting several times having a decent meal each time today was disappointing. It was busy as usual we got our meal it didn’t look the best but I ate it or tried to the food was bland and tasteless i had to leave this as there was a distinct smell coming from it as I had eaten half of the meal when intent to pain spoke to what I assume is the manager I said it isn’t a complaint but want to let you know if couldn’t finish it as it had a distinct smell “not nice” to which he simply replied well no one else has complained then turned his back and got my bill.

Very quiet for a Friday night and much more expensive than the other pubs in Mexborough I've tried

We held a baby shower here today and it’s was fabulous, the venue is clean and inviting, really modern and well looked after. From enquiring about the room to the end of the party the staff have had great communication they answer any questions fast, they are helpful and friendly they made it all very easy. Would 💯 recommend and will definitely use again when we need a venue. Thank you, Lynsey 😊

Called in today for Sunday roast with my partner and two children. This was after hearing good things about the place. First impression was none of the staff seemed happy to be there. We quickly knew what food to order and ordered 2 pints of Madri. The Madri tasted eggy so I asked the server (who looked rushed off her feet) if she'd mind changing it for 2 morettis instead. Unfortunately they tasted eggy aswell. I took the drinks back to the bar where I asked the server to change it for wine. The landlord seemed annoyed so I suggested he try the larger himself. His response was to go somewhere else if we don't like it and that I'm only one to complain. He clearly doesn't clean the lines or hasn't cleaned the dishwasher in a while. Worst thing is we paid for the drinks and I left without challenging that purely because I was so close to decking him. Landlord is in the wrong business and needs to clean his pub and his attitude.

The manager is the rudest most arrogant man I’ve met ! As I left a negative honest review on his pub I received a threatening Personal, insulting email !! As attached . Shocking . The staff apologised for him but honestly read the other reviews and his replies on other sites . Terrible unprofessionalism.

Very nice pub with a comfortable local feel. Coming from the south, this was a very nicely priced pub and the staff were very friendly and approcable. Looking forward to it being my new local

If you wanting a drink then I recommend calling in at the new mason as it nice and always welcoming to all.

I like it here. Good food and a fair range of drinks. More important - fair prices. Service is always friendly and the atmosphere cosy.

Haven’t been here for awhile but called for drinks one Saturday afternoon. The drinks were ok but the actual Pub looks like it’s in need of a good clean especially the toilets. Even the outside looked tired and grubby. It was also really lacking any atmosphere which is a shame because when we used to come before we would sometimes struggle to get a seat but this time we almost had our pick of the place.

Lovely food...lovely staff. They we're very attentive asking us if everything was ok...if we needed anything. We asked for some extra gravy and the polite young server brought us a jug full. The Sunday lunch was hot and very tasty. We will definitely come here again.

Ate outside on a Saturday evening. The food was of good value and quality and staff were efficient and polite. The downside, the outside is simply scruffy! Food, cigarette ends, paper and tissues strewn across the ground. Dead plants in the window boxes. It always amazes me when an hour with a brush and a dumpy bag…and an enthusiastic worker, would transform the outside and enhance the outside dining experience. Another mo#n, with a near empty pub why are punters allowed to sit at the bar hence making getting service challenging…surely a throwback to the 70s? However, enjoyed food

Decided to go out for lunch and wasn’t disappointed. My husband had the lamb Sunday lunch and I had my favourite Cajun chicken sizzler. Good food with helpful staff. Will be back.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with my son here today. My son had haddock & chips, beautiful white meaty fish & homemade chunky chips with garden peas. I had warm gammon salad with chips. It was absolutely gorgeous and they definitely didn’t hold back on the gammon, huge portion. We ate outside and had a couple of drinks sat in the sunshine. Staff were lovely and attentive checking outside if anyone needed anything. I must add the toilets were immaculately clean (which is always a good sign) Will definitely return.

My very 1st visit here. Beautiful, clean, lovely staff, with a great space outside front and back. They had a dj the evening we were there, he added to the atmosphere. We ended up dancing because we felt so comfortable. A must to visit. 👍

Recently visited for Sunday lunch. The service was good and the food freshly cooked. There were lots of options for Sunday meat. The food itself was enjoyable, adults and children all enjoyed. The pub is a sweet traditional setting.

Only drank, great selection of beer and really well priced

We eat here for our daughters birthday. From the minute we walked we felt welcome. Good food warm welcome what more could you want. Thank for making our night feel special.

I have not been to the Masons for a while i ordered fish and chips i tried the fish it was grey inside and tasted awful I sent the whole plate back The owner or manager asked ne what was wrong i told him 10 mins later he came back to me and said i will reimburse you but i have to say there was nothing wrong with the fish His customer service attitude was bad i worked for 17 years in customer complaints for a well known building society and he needs training on how to manage complaints

Had an excellent meal - gammon from sizzler menu. No fat, no grisle. Fresh food. Beautiful meal. Service great. Can’t fault it at all.

We called in on a Saturday lunch time. Very pleasant traditional pub with a decent range of cask ales. The layout of the car park was odd, I guess they have a few snarl ups from time to time. I plumped for the All Day Breakfast - good value at £10.99 for a plateful. The sausages were excellent - plump, juicy and tasty. The bacon was also good. For my taste, the 2 fried eggs were underdone with the yolk being very runny. I also like my hash browns crispier. My friend had a decent chicken burger served in a scuffler (teacake where I live). At £13.95 it didn’t seem as good value. There was a specials menu with some good value options available.

First time we've been back here in a very long time. It's still just average and we definitely miss the 'good old day's when we'd call regularly. Fish chips and peas average. Presentation and standard of burger definitely dwindled. So disappointed.

Super Sunday lunch, the lamb was lovely, portion size was good and everything was cooked perfect. The pub was busy but had a good atmosphere and able to have a good natter, all staff really friendly.

Was staying in the area and called in here on the way into Mexborough. A good sized pub, very clean and tidy inside. Separate room with a pool table and a good outdoor space with climbing frame for kids. Pretty quiet early Friday night when we visited but definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

There are not many places like this left. This is no plastic pub! It's a traditional British pub serving excellent home cooked food. We stayed in the double room which was clean and comfortable. White bed linen, white towels and Laura Ashley decor. Excellent value...

Stayed down the road at a big chain hotel - wasn't anywhere near as good as staying at the Mason's tho. Walked up the road to get a decent meal, the hotel had a very limited menu or there is a Toby Carvery next door....

Quite surprised how quiet his pub was when I went in. From what I heard it's the busiest pub in wickersley. I think I must've gone to the right time. Had somewhere to sit with a big group of friends. Straight to bar. But came 11 the place was rammed. Bonus for women. Lots of toilets. Always a bonus on a night out. Not waiting for a pee when six lasses fit into one cubicle.

Came here for my sons 18th birthday with family. The food was lovely, very tasty and reasonably priced. Stayed on for the quiz, had a lovely fun night. Will definitely be going again. Well worth the visit.

A lovely community pub with good ales at reasonable prices, a large children's play area to the rear and is also dog friendly. Live acts on the weekends worth a visit.

I use the masons on a regular basis and find it a good family pub all the Beers are good and fair priced I would recommend it to anyone.
