Meggies in North East Lincolnshire

Fabulous Fish & Chip restaurant. Delicious food, great cuppa, welcoming staff and dog friendly. We are regular visitors and will continue to be.

The reason why we went to Meggies is they take dogs. We were pleasantly surprised it was so clean, friendly staff and very good value for money. It was quite busy but the staff were very attentive as we wanted to be in and out quickly. The toilets were also very clean. We would recommend this place and we will certainly be going there again sometime soon.

Best fish and chips in town. The batter is delicious and the fish so white and fresh. We had fish chips and peas and enjoyed every bit - good value for money too. A lovely afternoon out on a cold Easter Sunday, the highlight was definitely our fish n chips lunch at Meggies. It was mega busy but this had no bearing. The quality of the food was first class. The staff are brilliant, so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We all loved it( 4 Adults & 3 dogs) I would highly recommend Meggies, the very best fish n chips and good tea too. Well done Meggies. 👍👏👏🐟☕

We travelled to Cleethorpes for a day at the seaside which of course included some fish and chips! We saw that Meggies was highly rated on TripAdvisor and we can absolutely see why! My partner said it was definitely the best fish he's had from any chipshop and everything was delicious! Very good value for money and our dog even enjoyed a lovely sausage! In addition the lady that served us was friendly and very welcoming!

Visited today with my friend had fish chips mushey peas. Was lovely batter was very nice . Althou I couldn’t eat it all I enjoyed every bit that I did. Service was very good . Can’t beat a back street cafe. I like that they allowed dogs in but I guess some wouldn’t . Wud definitely go again

We have been eating fish and chips around cleethorpes for a long time with mixed opinions however we discovered Meggies last year and quite honestly its a cut above the rest. We normally get fish and chips to take out but the last 2 occasions we have eaten inside the restaurant and we can only conclude the food is perfectly prepared and is amazing not forgetting the service being excellent once again today in the restaurant. 10 out of 10 from us already looking forward to our next visit. If you dont enjoy the food or service from Meggies there got to be something seriously wrong with you.

Food excellent, good sized portions and value for money. Staff very friendly and our dog welcome too. Recommended by two local ladies when they saw us looking for somewhere to eat.

Took my mum to Cleethorpes to visit family and have a look round the shops. Popped in here for fish and chips and was so glad we tried it! The fish was perfect, the batter wasn't too thick, really light and crispy, and the chips were quite tasty. It came with bread and butter and a drink of choice. The prices were reasonable and the service great. Would def recommend you go here rather than some of the other "popular" ones in the area, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic food as always. I cannot fault anything. Friendly service. Great prices and location as it’s about 2 minuets from the beach and dog friendly so perfect for when I take my pooch. A treat for us all . Happy days.

On a recent visit to cleethorpes we decided to go to meggies after seeing all the amazing reviews on here…safe to say it didn’t disappoint, fish was fresh and delicious and chips fluffy and crispy, we will be returning :)

My wife and I visited Meggies restaurant on Wednesday 29th Sept. The decor was very 1960s but who cares - the Fish & Chips were AWESOME!! We both had the large haddock and they were HUGE, gorgeous light, crispy batter, cooked to absolute perfection, loads of chunky chips, lovely mushy peas and b&b and tea, all for 20 quid. Fantastic value, great service, very friendly staff and dog friendly too. What more could you ask.

The only reason we chose to eat here was because it’s dog friendly.The food was ok,nothing special,and a bit more expensive than other places we looked at,but obviously because we had the dog with us we didn’t have much of a choice.

Enjoyed our fish and chips at Meggies today. I had the lemon sole special which was excellent and my husband had haddock, also enjoyed,The added bonus was that dogs were allowed in and ours received his own bowl of drinking water on what was a hot day.Service was friendly and efficient and all in all would return.

I ate here with my family on a Sunday teatime, the place is nice enough inside, and the staff were friendly. We all ordered fish and chops, and I had a large with beans and had bread and butter and a cup of tea included., We all enjoyed our fish and chips, however, the bread was extremely dry and not really edible, and the beans were obviously microwaved and were not really hot enough We would return though as this may have been a one-off mistake.

Day to leave the van, so came into Cleethorpes, I have tried a few of the cafés and chip shops, but never Meggies.Arrived around 11.30, was given a warm welcome, we ordered cod so knew it would be a little wait as it is always cooked fresh, the food was delicious.Only slight criticism was the banter between staff while we sat inside eating, as it was just me and hubbie, it wasn't so much of an issue, but I wouldn't be impressed if I had kids with me.Overall will be using again, although if I had the kids with me I may have it to take away

Came today drove specially from Sheffield on a recommendation with my husband and sister sat at the table after 10minutes ordered our food coffee bread and butter arrived quickly food took another 30 minutes mushy peas were cold she heated my sisters but mine were on my plate but she never offered to swap my plate or offer any warm peas the table in front of us sat a man woman 2 kids and a dog in a bag on the chair x

Absolutely loved our last minute outing for fish and chips. Being from a grimsby fishing family we are very particular about our fish but Meggies definitely delivered! The staff are so lovely and attentive - especially the young dark haired girl - I think she was called Chloe. Amazing customer service will definitely be coming back!!!

Due to an outbreak of covid at our regular fish and chip shop we finally found Meggie's. Alex was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely and enjoyed by all. It was ready for the time we were told, I can't thank the staff enough for stepping in at the last minute and stopping our visit from being ruined. Thank you, we will definitely be coming back.

With very little notice (due to been let down), Meggies were able to provide meals for almost 90 hungry primary school children! The food was delicious, the staff were great and made sure that everything ran efficiently. The children were even given drinks to enjoy with their meals. School staff all tucked in and enjoyed their meals too. Meggies will definitely be our first choice on our next school visit and my first choice when I next visit with my family. Thanks again for such a great service and such tasty food!

This is hands down our favourite place to eat when we visit cleethorpes, the staff are always friendly with a smile on their faces, they are very laid back so don’t make you feel rushed to order, the place is cosy and relaxing and the food is out of this world, you can tell they use good ingredients and take pride in what they serve here. The waiting times are always outstanding, drinks at the table within minutes and food not far behind. Me and my partner have been coming here for the last 5 years and we shall continue to do so for many years to come! The owners and staff members should be extremely proud of themselves, there is plenty of competition in a popular tourist place like cleethorpes but this by far wins! It’s nothing fancy looking, nothing that catches your eye in comparison to other chippies/restaurants but believe me the effort is in their food and homeliness and that pays a lot more than a fancy modern chair. If you haven’t tried it here then please please do! A massive thank you from us! We will be back in a few months. Well done!
